1991 Yellow BMW 850i for sale in San Diego, CA. Made this video because I owned this car and then put it up for sale. I like keeping videos of all the cars that I've had and put up for sale. I've missed quite a few but now I'm getting into the habit of doing so.
This car was a head-turner and a blast to drive. 0-60 it is not a fast car by any means. However once you are at freeway speeds, it really takes off. Top speed 300 kph!! It's was really a GT car made to cruise long distances very fast in Europe. More than anything in the Autobahn.
Maintenance was very expensive. There was always something gong on. Dumped about 16k in one year into it. So yes, it is not a cheap car to own by any means. You can buy them for cheap now, but the maintenance will get you. Ended up installing a REMUS exhaust on it for a nicer exhaust note. Although I wish I had taken the cats off so that I could really hear that V12. The transmission was solid, ZF transmission, it was a monster. Never had a problem with that.
Most of the issues with the car were electrical form degrading plastic. I don't think the germans thought the car would last this long. And the plastics started exposing wires, as well as the throttle bodies were also a problem. Did not pass smog inspection in CA, so ended up selling it in Nevada. Too stringent over here, and to get it to pass, it was going to be an arm and a leg in replacement parts.

Gas mileage depends on what you do with it. City around 12. Freeway you can get 25. It's great for long trips, have taken it to Vegas from San Diego a few times. Car was hit from the back at 32k miles, no problems regarding that repair. No frame damage.

really beautiful car. Just saw it on Ebay. whats the gas mileage on one of these? Also, you did say it has a salvage title, was the frame bent?
