Nice monologue 😅 I like JP but hearing more questions would have been good too.
What's up with all the cursing and blocking some and allowing others makes no sense censor or don't censor
I feel like Dr. Peterson understands Aquinas definition of God in, "The Act to Be itself." But can't marry that with the idea of a Person who loves us individually. Which is something I've been contemplating a lot recently, as they on the surface seem to be opposites.
Been enjoying PWA for free (bit of a mooch :) but just joined your locals. LOVE listening to Dr. Peterson, although sometimes I feel lost in the weeds. God bless you both!
An hour in and saw the block against the Lord's name in vain. Good on you, PWA! There are some habits hard to break for everyone. But always, Blessed Be His Holy Name.
you know it's gonna be good when TH-cam puts the "Context" ribbon underneath it.
Took them no time at all XD
The problem with the ribbon is that it's incorrect. It acts as if the science on this is settled. Most climatologists and atmospheric physicists agree that humans contribute to the change in climate but they do not agree on what the primary cause is.
@@Kepha3 The primary cause is the increase in carbon dioxide (CO2), a known greenhouse gas. The vast majority of this carbon dioxide has been identified as coming from man-made sources such as factories, automobiles, and power plants utilizing fossil fuels.
@@dylanburnett7928 The vast majority? I think you need to look into what climatologists can actually establish scientifically. The evidence is isn't there to support the notion that the "vast majority" of CO2 is caused by humans. Actually, the oceans contribute the greatest amount of CO2 into the atmosphere.
@@dylanburnett7928No, look it up. Man made CO2 is a tiny, tiny percentage of what is already a small percentage of the total atmosphere. After seeing the actual numbers I completely changed my views on man made climate change.
I've wrestled with God, for 53 years.
I thought I was an atheist, I headed a large secular organisation.
Despite my arguments, something always nagged at me.
In 2010 my son was seriously ill, he started having focal seizures and ended up on life support. The child in the bed next to him died the third night he was in hospital. Our son was in a coma, they told us he might not make the next 24 hours.
I remember being alone and begging God to save my son, I prayed hard , I mean really hard, it was overwhelming. As I was praying I found solace, I found something that told me everything was going to be alright.
This went on for 6 hours, I was utterly exhausted.
The next day the doctors told us they were going to start transferring his breathing from the machine to my son, the process took 6 hours.
On the 5th hour he took over the breathing despite the doctors believing he wouldn't.
He came out the coma, he was blind in one eye and lost his ability to speak but over the next few months he completely recovered.
I've prayed every night since.
My son is now 16, he's 6ft4" and super smart. I mean really smart, confident and unbelievably fit and healthy.
I believe he is meant to be here for a reason. Everyone who meets my son is fascinated by him for some reason, he's magnetic. He commands the room.
We hear people say "that boy is going to change things" and "that boy can do whatever he wants"
I believe God listened that day, he gave us such a gift.
God Bless both of you!!!!!!
amazing, praise be to God
Beautiful testimony!!! Is it coincidence you used the phrase “wrestle with god” and that’s Peterson’s next book title? 😊
Thank you for sharing your story. Very inspiring!
God bless you Sir. 🙏
"I miss dairy... and sugar."
The land of paradise flows with milk and honey.
I wonder what would happen if instead of regular dairy and sugar, he did replace it with goats milk and honey/molasses? What our forefathers had, like the meat and oats. Because dairy and sugar now have different molecular structures, additives, things that intrinsically affect everything internal in some manner.
You're so funny 🤣♥️🐝🍯

Peterson’s self reflection and slowness to give an answer to a deep question is something I truly respect.

But rather get you down in the hole
That he's in.'
Dr. Peterson’s answer concerning him having faith or not is brilliant, because he explains EXACTLY what the council of Trent states when it condemns Sola Fide. Dr. Peterson is arguing that faith cannot be a mere thought or pronunciation, it must be lived and enacted, this is precisely why Saint James says “faith without works is dead”
Very well said
Hello! For context, I am a Lutheran who has listened to many hours of both Pints and Peterson. Friend, I would be careful with lines of thought like this. The way Jordan uses the word “Faith” is nowhere close to the Christian Tradition, including the reformers. It honestly feels like the closest thing he could relate to is “Pelagianism”, or the idea that you can climb to heaven on your own by pursuing the highest good. There is no space of “Christ for You” in his thought . What that Good is for Jordan, I still have no idea haha.
The reformers thought of Faith not just as Intellectual assent, but as a deep trust. Faith for the reformers is a deep trust in Christ (His Life, Death, and Resurrection on our Behalf), and those gifts are then counted to us. They by no means proposed that the Christian doesn’t need Good Works or that Faith is a “mere pronunciation”. A major part of the Christian life is loving our neighbor and abiding deeper in our Union with Christ. However, that’s not to be confused with Justification. The two kinds of Righteousness (Before God and Before Man) are vital, but distinct. I want to be kind but firm in saying that your brief description of Sola Fide is a major caricature.
If we want to discuss Justification, then let’s keep it on the topic of Justification, starting with the scripture that discusses it most thoroughly (ie:Romans 4). To bleed the conversation of Peterson into that conversation confuses the issue, and leads to false conclusions.
Also, I have want to have some humility in saying that when it comes to the question of God/Faith, I am quite frustrated with Peterson. So in that, take what I said with a grain of salt, because I don’t always understand what he’s gettting at. Sorry for the long answer 😂.
God Bless!
@@SamuelMoerbe I don’t fully agree with Peterson, because faith ought to be intellectual, and enacted, it’s both things. I don’t think he is arguing that one can reach its way to heaven, that’s not the Catholic teaching either. The concept of sola fide comes with the rejection of the salvific power of the sacraments, and the cooperation with Grace through living a Christian life. Hence why James states that faith without works is dead, because we ought to accept God’s grace with faith and cooperate with such grace by receiving the sacraments and living according to Christ.
The Catholic Church is clear that justification cannot be earned, salvation is a gift from God, whether we accept that gift is up to us, we can accept it and cooperate with grace in order to allow Him to save us.
@@SamuelMoerbeTo be saved is to be justified. Otherwise, what are you being saved from?
The real question is :do you love God? or do you trust in God?
Prayers for Mr Peterson. It’s very draining to fight the narrative.
I've been following Peterson for 6 years and recently converted to Catholism in March. It's really interesting to see these 2 parts come together since it has been reflected in my life

He played a role in my becoming a Christian as well.
How come you picked the religion with the furthest deviation from the Bible and with the most horrific systemic corruption including asset theft, land theft, nazi sympathising, paedophilia and circumnavigation of the law?!
The catholic church is in fact experiencing a rennaisance. It is heartening to see so many great minds and people of good conscience saying yes to God.
So beautiful! People are finding the 'reasoned and reason-able' Truths of the Catholic Church. God is a Poet...🙏🏼👍🏼✝️🕊️
I’ve been mostly nonreligious for the past 13 years. I honestly don’t really care about the scientific existence of God or having debates on whether God is real. I’m tired of the atheist nihilism and intellectual superiority. It gets old listening to atheists who think they’re smarter than everyone else. All I know is, when I went to church with my family this past Easter Sunday, I felt whole and fulfilled. I felt the emptiness go away for a bit. I think any atheist who would go to church, have a fulfilling experience, and then say “but science says Gods not real” is blinding themselves to enjoying life. If you can’t put your intellectual ego aside to do what feels right, then we just have disagreements on what we should do in life. Going to church feels good, and that means something. I think atheists really need to get off their high horses, it’s making them miserable (and it’s just not interesting to listen to anymore)

@@awsambdamanI've been an atheist for 10 years. In those years I've felt the superiority of being "smarter than everyone else" until reality hit hard and fast you can't possibly look anywhere else for help. Then He revealed Himself to me, not in some hyper mystical sense but the hard realization that no one else can carry the full weight of our faults but Himself.
I suggest you pray, honestly and without any reservation, to ask if He is real. I don't think He would allow any delusions jn your mind if you're honestly seeking enough.
Also, check out Fr. Donald Calloway's conversion story. I bet his story would be riveting enough for you or anyone.
“If you have studied history and you think there’s no such thing as hell, you are the idiot.” - Jordan Peterson
This interview is great! I love how fired up Dr. Peterson gets over the existence of God. ✝️🙏🏻
The ability to pause, to leave silence is so rare... but Matt has it. There's a moment when he asks a question about death and the pause is a few seconds long. The temptation to fill it with an um, an aha or even a further question or softener would be great... and Matt lets it sit. Exactly what Jordan needed to put the right words he needed to convey in place. One of the best interviews by either I've seen.
Personally - as a big Peterson fan - this has to be the best podcast conversation I've listened to with him 100%
Agreed This was really entertaining and full of razer sharp insights.
Go check out the last chat he had with Bishop Barron.
one of the best for sure :)
As a not-big Peterson fan, I agree. This was energizing to say the least.
Be careful, he called me a presumptuous troll for calling him, Peterson as you have. See comment above . . . I guess he is too important for the use of just his last name, so I apologized.
Your censorship of blasphemy over swearing was noticed and appreciated.
Do not take the Lord's name in vain. I respect Jordan Peterson but the sin of blasphemy is one of the worst sins you can commit. God's name was never allowed to be said for a reason
and then to blasphemy it is one of the worst sins in this society. That's why the Holy Face devotion was started to make reparation to be blasphemy and propagation of the Lord's day and Holy days of obligation. I pray that he can stop committing blasphemy and seek forgiveness for his sins and we can make reparation for him and all others committing blasphemy. I use to commit blasphemy and it hurts the Lord so much. I pray that he will come to the Catholic Faith as well. May he open his heart to God's love. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, pray for us.
@@andrewweber6321 I didn't hear him use the name of God.
Not a very sophisticated interpretation of blasphemy.
@@stevenbryan7586 How so?
@@chrisdotson3520 In my understanding, blasphemy is more the attribution of sacred qualities to the profane. I think it's an oversimplification to think of utterances such as GD as blasphemy.
This was, by far, the best interview with Peterson to date. He clearly expressed here views with which he'd often struggled in the past, showing a phenomenal cristallization of knowledge, all on extremely important topics, one after another. I'd been very sceptical of his cooperation with Daily Wire in the past but it seems to have done him good. Thank you for this.
Credit to Matt Fradd for the way he conducted this interview, his questions, his responses and mannerism 👏
I’ve been following Jordan Peterson since I was an adolescent. As such, I’ve become intimately knowledgeable of his material and it has certainly produced many fruits in my life. It was Jordan Peterson who set me on a path which eventually led to the Catholic Church. I have much to thank him for.
All this is to say that you, Matt Fradd, have produced one of the greatest, most insightful interviews with Jordan Peterson. It was so great, I almost lament the fact that this video will likely circulate among mostly Catholics as the larger audience could greatly benefit. I really felt as if my understanding of my moral hero was greatly elevated through seeing this interview. Your skills as an interviewer should certainly be commended and I hope you are a name which Jordan remembers for future prospects.
Thank you for sharing your journey!🙏🏼✝️🕊️❤️
You articulated this so wonderful and I agree with you on Matt!
Sorry to hear that you got caught by the cult.
“To be created in the image of God is to wrestle with potential.”
Jordan B. Peterson
Is this not a dissatisfying answer to most of the Christians on here?
Being made in the image of God is much more than wrestling with potential. The reason Jordan defines it like this is that in his view, God is frankly not real. I know he would argue with that and say God is very real, but it’s about definition of terms.
The fact is, Jordan Peterson does not believe in the ontological reality that God is a metaphysical being who literally created the physical universe, and was incarnated as a man via Mary and the Holy Ghost, was executed on a cross, and physically rose from the dead on earth.
Without that, he will never get the full picture of living as the image of God, because it’s not just wrestling with potential: it’s confessing Christ and living as his vector in the world by carrying him with you through the Eucharist, with the goal of shepherding the earth towards God as God shepherded you towards himself.
And that doesn’t work so well if God is just a psychological construct.
Does God wrestle with potential? With another word: Does God struggle with potential? Or just simply: Does God struggle?
@@maciejpieczula631No, bit the point is He could which is why He is such a great God. He could do whatever He likes. He could have slaves. Instead he created us, created beauty to share with us and to live in. He gave us free will so we can experience and He loves us. That is potential and using it for the right reasons. Satan is the opposite.
@@ninja3687 Are you saying God COULD struggle with potential? I don’t think we as Christians typically believe that about God. There’s a great quote that “the easiest thing God ever did was rise from the dead.”
When we act as images of God we are living out the life he sets up for us, and mimicking Christ day by day. Peterson’s metaphor is insufficient because you can’t fully mimic Christ without confessing faith in Him and joining his church, which gets left by the wayside if he’s just a theoretical concept or a symbol and not a real man who was really God grounded in history on this earth.
No God doesnt strugle with potencial but we do. We know we are called to sth higher than ourselves. Being made in his IMAGE means we are not like him, but we are similar and we can be more like God. we have the potential to be Saints if we let God in us
Looking forward to this one. We got JP on PWA now we need Jimmy Akin on Joe Rogan.

He's not missing it. He just doesn't have a complete picture yet. He's working on it.
We're actually all in the same situation, just coming from different angles at the same thing, and if we don't think so, we're missing what Paul said about working out his salvation with fear and trembling.
“It’s not easy, in fact it will take everything that you have”……
WOW. The truth.
Newly baptized Roman Catholic here (just this past Easter Vigil -- thanks be to God 🙏), and I have to say this might be my favourite interview of all time. Both PwA and JBP have really helped me to get my head (and, even more importantly, my heart and soul) straight after years of depression, anxiety and addiction (+ leftism 😜) in the Orwellian hellscape that Canada tragically seems to be falling into, and I truly thank everyone involved in this production from the bottom of my heart. ❤
In particular, I found Dr. Peterson's explanation of the staff of Moses very helpful, as I have struggled with witnessing the Passion (the more I come to know and love Jesus, the more it hurts to see Him suffer even as a reenactment, a sentiment to which I expect many fellow viewers can relate...?). Tying it back into the Old Testament was an inspired stroke of genius, and I feel like I deeply understand for the first time why God sometimes calls us to face the worst of the worst.
I can't speak for anyone else of course, but this is my testimony at least and, as I continue to grow in the faith, I'll be praying for everyone listening and for the conversion of all souls to our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless 🕊
Typology is the study of how the old testament relates to and is revealed in the New Testament. I highly recommend reading the gospels first, then delving into the old testament to find all the types that appear there. It's very eye opening; I remember as a kid relating to the old testament more than the new. It was more primitive in a way, and so closer to God. It wasn't nearly as cerebral. To the Israelites, God lived in the temple. To them, he was indicernable from the sacrifices and worship that the priests gave.
That foundation really led to a blossoming of my Christian faith once I became mature enough to find the old in the New.
Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing. I am deeply moved every time I pray/meditate on the Stations of the Cross/WAY of the Cross. Jesus teaches us SO much about life in His Passion. If we only just truly surrender our hearts to Him and TRUST. Jesus, I trust in You. Life is so short. I highly recommend Fr. Mike Schmitz' Bible in a Year AND Catechism in a Year podcasts or through the Hallow App. I'm a "cradle Catholic" but have learned SO MUCH through those podcasts. God bless you!
Welcome home - I joined the same time - thanks be to God!
Welcome! 😊 And hi from a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦
May God bless you always in your life journey of faith, hope and love.
Dr. Peterson sounds so angry, frustrated, with the brokenness of the human race, there's a sadness in his heart, his awareness seems heavy on his inner peace, he needs a break for his peace of mind, he is so interesting, intelligent, he has a great wisdom, I don't know what I am seeing, but he seems like he needs a break, live, love with his family, I pray that God brings him peace of mind. "Psychotherapy is secularized confession and atonement"
Jordan Peterson
If you go back far enough you see that the field of psychotherapy stands of the shoulders of the saints and church fathers. They pioneered a lot of the techniques in their ministries.
@@briansardinas1359 interesting. I am intrigued
So deep
I'd have to disagree personally. My therapist taught me things related to life and health a priest isn't equipped for.
@@michaelanthony4750 right. Thats where the word “secularized” comes from.
I am praying that Dr Peterson will someday have that personal, transforming meeting with Jesus Christ. It is hard to listen to him trying to plumb the depths of Scripture but overlooking Jesus' call to "believe in him whom [God] has sent". It's like watching a thirsty man measuring the depth of a well but refusing to drink the water.
He's never denied the existence of Christ. Dr Peterson is VERY careful not to throw religious jargon around as he knows the absolute seriousness of acknowledging Him.
@@sarahevans3622 you're right, but I think there's a difference between acknowledgement and faith. Dr. Peterson is going to get there, and what a day that will be!
@sarahevans3622 ...that's just the thing though. Acknowledging Christ can also be joyful, even comical. And it's not limited to brilliant serious minds only. Someone with down syndrome can have a better understanding of Christ than the greatest of philosophers. JP... this is one thing you can't necessarily think your way through. Heh heh.
I love Mr Peterson and I know he’s tired of hearing it but he needs to put on Christ’s yoke. It is light and easy and it would help him dealing with these things that so perturb, sadden and anger him.

Faith is LOYALTY. It isn’t always a feeling. It is LOYALTY to Christ and trying to pick up your cross and He picks it up for you.
A commitment that requires every ounce of our being
Yes, and the same goes for love. Relying on feeling is a mistake. Feeling comes and goes, but it needs to be anchored in commitment. Maybe we should think of feeling as an occasional grace.
my RCIA teacher described it as "trust" in our latest lesson, and just reframing it that way made a lot of sense to me
@@jasonphillips8933one of the Bible translations I have almost always translates what we usually read as “faith” into “trust” and I agree it changes the way you think about it

Why is he so angry? 😂😂😂 I like Peterson but to paraphrase something you once said “Peterson will have a great complex interpretation of scripture except what it actually means.”
I do have to give credit to Peterson for me being Catholic. A few years ago as an agnostic, I heard him say one should live as if God exists. That made sense. I grew to actually believe in God, to ultimately being here as a Catholic.

It's incredible how influential he's been in the last decade in pretty much singlehandedly re-formulating the idea and utility of religion in light of modern criticisms and contemporary memes in thought. He's injected so much vital energy back into the cultural zeitgeist (which rests on it's judeo-christian foundations), and essentially applied jaws of life to the overton window in spite of the gatekeepers which had managed to incrementally tighten the screws on free thought, not to mention speech. I've seen the Church's mission dovetail harmoniously with this resurgence in cultural tradition and a newfound interest in conservatism as a legitimate political stance for young people, particularly young males who've by and large been in complete freefall for over 30 years in the Brave New World our beloved Western leaders are working on creating for us. It's good to see the thawing effect these conversations have had on the secularist materialism that's become the depressingly predominant philosophy of the day. Coalition building is the essence of political dominance, those who are in power have the opportunity to have their policies and beliefs trickle down into common social thought. That's why it's important for Catholics to make their political allies wherever they find them. Taking back the culture will definitely correlate with the Church's mission.
Your invited guest is the only reason why I’m here. Impressed to say the least. Massive thanks mate
“Once you leave to join a pure union, it won’t be. Have you met you?” Brilliant!!!
That was a really quotable quote.
There's a well known Christian saying which is similar, "If you find the perfect church, don't join it..."
I love 'fired-up' Jordan! He masterfully channels the frustrations of the common man.
Great episode.
Jordan Peterson in full flight reminds me of Professor of Physics Julius Sumner Miller when he would get going. Intelligence, wide study and reading, experience that comes with age plus passion equals inspirational speaker
I have never heard anybody speak like this. He is clarifying so much for me in this interview. I am amazed at how he makes me feel.
Peterson is the great Platonist of our scientific age, cast in the language of modern psychological analysis. Great witness to the convergence of true science and true faith!
Jordan Peterson is a good man. He has and is continually bringing people to the church, whether intentional or not. Someone I admire greatly. I am glad he hasn't 'picked a side', it is better that the Holy Spirit guides people. Jordan will find home ❤ Thank you Dr Peterson, for being you. I look forward to seeing you here in Canada on your next tour.
Interesting you said '"whether intentionally or not" regarding Peterson having a influence on people going to church.
Christians have the Nicene Creed as their core beliefs. What do you think Petersons core beliefs are when it comes to spirituality? Do you think he believes in the core beliefs of Christianity?
@johnwheeler3071 He states during this interview that he lives as though there is a God and it is rather obvious his view of God is of the Christian belief.
@@michaelbarry1664 He must have said he believes in the physical resurrection of Jesus then?
@johnwheeler3071 what I mean by intentional or not, is that he isn't evangelizing. He's educating and speaking the truth, not trying to convince conversion like annoying evangelicals do
@@CedarRose7 But what do you think his beliefs are?
"There isn't a worse demand that can possibly be made of people than the Christian demand."
This quote sums up the fundamental misunderstanding of atheists.
Yes! I’ve been reflecting on this quote .
Great quote! I remember my friend back in high school asked about my faith and asked something along the lines of “does it make your life easier or happier.” And even as a young teen I answered “No, it’s harder.”
I think it’s a common misconception that Christians believe so they can feel safer or to be able to cope with death. We believe because the reality of it smacked us in the face and you can’t REALLY deny it (even if you try) after that. You just can pick up your Cross and follow or live some sort of hollow zombie life of being comfortably numb. Or waver between the two as I have for years 😅
exactly, doesn’t sound like an opium to the masses to me
The only misunderstanding is your own. Many atheists were real, earnest believers for decades of their own lives. We're not missing anything.
@@SeriousGeorge Were you a real, earnest believer for many years of your life?
Cool video, My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to move on, I really loved her so much i can't stop thinking about her and the memories we shared. I've tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail. I'm frustrated, and i don't see my life with anyone else. I've done my best to get rid of the thoughts, but i can't. I don't know why I'm saying this here, but i really miss her and i wish i could get her back.
have been in such a situation. My relationship ended about three years ago, but i could not let her go. So i had to do all i could to get her back, i had to seek the help of a spiritual adviser who helped me bring her back. We are back together, and i must say i am enjoying every moment.
Amazing, how did you get a spiritual counselor, and how do i reach her?
Her name is queen stella laveaux, and she is a great spiritual counselor who can bring back your ex.
Thank you for this valuable information, i just looked her up now online. impressive
Cannot believe someone is actually recommending satanic rituals in a Catholic channel and video. That's utterly appalling.
Please find peace through God. He is the only one who can truly give it to you. Reach out to your local Catholic parish and priest, he can help you sort things your internal turnmoil out.
I was happy to see him smile, he was very stern throughout. Discouraged to see him squelch the levity and revert back to being somewhat tense. I hope he is well. Still, happy to catch up. Both Pints and JP have been edifying.
He finally got comfortable at the end. You need a round 2!
What a great episode. I hope he comes back.

@@Dave_She’s on his way in. Why else would he entertain a Catholic podcast? Don’t get me wrong… Matt Fradd is the Catholic Joe Rogan, but his heart is being called.
@harleydavidson4247 Matt said that the original interview was going to be with Tammy, but she had a back injury and couldn't do it, so Matt "settled" for the other Peterson. Matt also said that when Jordan arrived at the studio he thought Matt's priest was the host. Hopefully after this Jordan becomes a regular Pints watcher!
Belief or faith isn't recognizing the existence of God. It's believing He is who He says He is and what He says he's doing and trusting Him and commiting to follow Him

@@VVeremoose No, that's why Christ is King and not us.
I really appreciate how I always feel like Jordan is being honest. He's not playing a role and it is hard to not be a hypocrite when talking about the what is highest
This comment is for Matt Frad. How God uses great men to accomplish His glory. Jordan Peterson has brought so many new viewers to this channel, and in doing so, has opened them up to a world of Christ's True Church, Faith, Baptism in Catholicism, that many would never have otherwise considered. God works in mysterious ways... and on occasion when we get a glimpse of How He's working, it is ALWAYS Beautiful and takes my breath away.
Jordan Peterson cited liberation theology as an objection to Catholicism. But in 1984, the Church (through Cardinal Ratzinger, as head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith) strictly taught against this theology. I encourage everyone to read the Church’s lengthy and beautiful statement on this.
“The present Instruction has a much more limited and precise purpose: to draw the attention of pastors, theologians, and all the faithful to the deviations, and risks of deviation, damaging to the faith and to Christian living, that are brought about by certain forms of liberation theology which use, in an insufficiently critical manner, concepts borrowed from various currents of Marxist thought.”
And, lastly: “The intense concern of the Church, the bride of Christ, for the needs of mankind, their joys and their hopes, their pains and their struggles, is nothing other than the great desire to be present to them in order to enlighten them with the light of Christ, and join them all to Him, their only Savior. It can never mean that the Church is conforming to the things of this world, nor that she is lessening the earnestness with which she awaits her Lord and the eternal Kingdom.’”
@petem7146: As you cited, the Church did condemn "certain forms of liberation theology", not the concept of liberation theology itself (the name giver and "founder" Gustavo Gutiérrez OP is a good friend of Cardinal Müller, for instance).
I did read the statement by the CDF and it certainly did distinguish between the good aspects of liberation theology and the bad ones.
For those who are less into this subject and tend to hear only a black-and-white version, the first goal of liberaton theology is to make the poor a subject of the church instead of an object (of care or love). Many poor in Latin-American countries are Catholics, so it's not that "the Church" cares for them, it's that the Church is poor in them.
This shift of perspective is important and positive - it starts becoming negative when trying to establish some sort of a materially just Christ's kingdom on earth with political means...
@@ralfbettker-cuza7432 right
Practically, there is a section of the Church that refuses to put down the bottle (intoxicant) that is liberation theology. By section, I mean certain priests, bishops and nuns.
Also he doesn't u derstand pope francis, he is just mimicking the Tm followers. He is against catholic social teaching, thing is the Catholic Church is beyond American or Canadian conservatism and liberalism. Non Catholics and protestant influ3nced Catholics will never get that
@@0r14n583lt Fair enough. I guess I just think it’s a strange objection to the claims of Catholicism. Since the Church has strictly taught against it. It is a weak exercise to oppose Catholicism based on an incorrect application by some people in Latin America who misunderstand the Gospel.
Example from my world: I am not opposed to Protestantism because of liberal Methodists who allow same-sex weddings; I am opposed to its deeper substantive claims.
Your the man to get it done Matt….. I’d give 5 years off my life if you can get Jordan and Fr. Ripperger together for a 3 hour conversation.
Don't put that much faith in people.
They are both psychologists. It would be an interesting conversation. If there's anyone more badass than Jordan Peterson, it's Fr. Chad Ripperger.

I’ve seen very few podcasts where the interviewer gives so much time for some of the deeper questions and actively questions the interviewee’s answers. This is one of them- great interview.
Not gonna lie, I immediately started looking online for a blazer like Jordan’s 😂 it’s so cool
JP has some great suits. That red and blue one is unmatched. Best suit ever
When I saw him he had another jacket with icons all over it, JBP’s style is unmatched in today’s world. Good combination of masculine and beautiful.
Even some t shirt with a black collar like that ..would love it
Same here, have you found any leads?
I think he has all his suits custom made.
I think this is the first time that I’ve grasped what Peterson means when he talks about belief in God
Same! Kudos to Matt for letting Dr. Peterson talk long enough for it to all come together. I feel like a light switch finally flipped on.
Same. Basically he refuses to lower himself to modern language that talks about "belief". If I understood him correctly, to him all of that language is a tool of the enemy, and Christ isn't a matter of belief but of understanding of the objective world. It's like if to him not believing in Christ not even linguistically correct, it's more like you're sane or you aren't. If you're sane you understand Christ and there is no other possible way of explaining it.
Seems like rock solid faith to me.
@@FlyingGospel interesting, refers to the line "To live is Christ" in the Bible perfectly
I love the distinction between arguing your position and merely trying to be right
And JP generally just tries to be right. He never actually argues his position.
Just when I think that I don't need to see yet another JP interview... Matt Frad pulls this great event off ! Bravo 👏🏻 love you both ❤
I LOVED IT. I laughed, I cried, I was amazed. God bless this man!
God bless this man! Lord Thank you for this man! Mother Mary, guide hime Home❤
I love the long silent pauses when JP’s mind is at work. This world is so fast and instant, we can stand to pause every now and then 🩷
The editor censoring JBP using God's name in vain but not 45:01 was GOATED 🔥
Either they missed it or they censored because if you cuss in the first x minutes the algorithm tanks you.
I admire matts pushing back to Jordans sometimes babbling. Like brotha, you can always answer simply. I understand breaking things down and expanding upon them but i.e. around the 1:40ish mark. And other timestamps.
Same thing I noticed with his Shawn Ryan interview.
I’ve been waiting for this interview for eight years. My brother and I are PUMPED!
Same!
I just have to pause and say that I love it that Dr. Peterson has come on the most catholic podcast ever to swear. Just makes me laugh my head off!
On a serious note, it was an awesome mix of worlds seeing you both. Great conversation, great stuff. Hugs from Brazil, é nois.
As a Canadian, most of us become pretty grumpy and potty-mouthed when talking about our dict...er...Prime Minister Justin Trudeau 🇨🇦😛
Talking about Christianity as if it’s good because it’s useful is the road I originally took to atheism.
It’s good because it’s true. It’s very important not to get confused about this.
Talking about it as if it’s true but useless is the road I took to atheism, and viewing it as useful is the road I took back to belief. There are not many roads to God but there are many roads to belief
And truth is useful because truthful words create. It is what God does to create order out of potential.
And yet, you came back! Maybe that worked after all. Journey's are often circles where experience leads you right back home!
@@stevemcniel9515 I did, and I'm very grateful. I sure wasted a lot of time, though.

This interview is great but it still makes me wish even harder we could get Fr. Ripperger and Dr. Peterson in a room together for a couple of hours. I feel like that particular combination would be incredible to watch.
What a FABULOUS interview. A fascinating person Dr. Peterson is. Thanks for having him on Matt!!!
Thanks Matt for interviewing Dr. Peterson
Absolutely loved this interview. My first time watching Pints with Aquinas (except for a brief glimpse a few weeks ago). Dr. Jordan Peterson is a phenom and well worth the time. He is stimulating, probative and challenging. I don't see him as angry. He is very electric and intense. He speaks with an intentionality which is refreshing and at times peppered with intermittent bolts of lightening . Totally love his suit and have been smiling throughout the interview in spite of the gravity of the subject matter because of it. He gives a great sermon on how to be Catholic in the true sense. Hope to hear more. Well done Matt!
How would he know what it is to be Catholic though? He is agnostic
Jordan's take on climate worship is so based. He even refers to Kain. This man is legit.
I was an arrogant Atheist. Next easter i will get baptised as a catholic. Thank you Jordan Peterson!
This is hands down one of the best interviews with JP I watched. And I watched many! There was nothing really new in there but the context, the setting and your loving style to almost never interfere made this so valuable for me.
Like I believe the world hasn’t ended yet because places like mount Athos still exist the existence of JP is a proof of God in itself!
I’m about as tired of Christians trying to pin JP down on his faith as he is. You did a great job with this one. Wait for the comment section to light up with suggestions for trying to box him in with faith questions.
Yes, ok fair enough. But.... (I took this quote from someone on the Locals channel)...."However, he has to learn to dance with the Catholics if he is going to encroach so closely on our doctrines."
Yup. 👍🏼

The modern day Christians don’t have the slightest idea of the view Peterson has of God. He truly respects God, you can see it in his speech and conduct. We all have our flaws, before we even begin to take a SPECK out of our brother’s eye let’s remove the stake that’s in ours…
I'm not seeing these comments you speak of. Mostly high praise for the podcast and doctor Peterson.
Romans 10:9. He still fails at that every time. It’s become a broken record at this point.
🙏 amazing interview. I listen to this daily now. Jordan Peterson is overflowing with the Holy Spirit, a living saint. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word with God, and the Word was God. We live in a narrative world. Heed the call to adventure in harmony with the Truth; you can tell if this is the case with your current lifestyle/activities by asking these questions:
Are you being a blessing to yourself?
Is your reputation growing deservedly?
Are you establishing something permanent and long lasting?
Are you a blessing to everyone else?
If the answer is yes to these questions, you are living in harmony with the spirit of God, enjoy!
we do, Christian, love him, because he knows a great deal about the Bible and history.
This is Peterson at the top of his game. Sharp as a razor.

I didn't love this interview. I have never watched Jordan Peterson in a longer format and I cannot say that I enjoyed it. The entire time I felt like he was talking at Matt instead of talking with Matt. It felt much less like a conversation and much more like Dr. Peterson was angrily yelling about everything. 🤷
I know he is a man of great learning and has a lot of wisdom to share. God bless him for that and give him peace.
The issue is that he thinks because he is "a man of great learning" about a particular subject that he knows a lot about all subjects. He is well versed in psychology, but when it comes to other topics, especially when it comes to politics, he knows very little.
JP suit's get crazier and crazier.
His take on salvation and true "belief in God" is absolutely perfect.
Just wearing a jersey doesn't make you on the team, you might just be a fan. Jesus says, play the game, get some dirt on your hands, learn how to win and win for Him.. Most people sit on the bench and polish their helmets. I used to be like that.
Exactly right. A relationship we need to maintain, to open the door to Christ and leave it open that requires every ounce of our being.

Thank you for uploading this interview and I hope you have blessed days ahead, Mat. You did a terrific job of interviewing Dr.Peterson
What a great video. Had to start and restart several times to get every word in. Who says J.P. Is not Catholic / Christian must b deaf. I am a revert to the Catholic Church 30 years now and my husband converted in 2000. I am convinced the Catholic Church is established by Christ and the Eucharist is the summit of that. Most certainly liberation theology is a great cancer in the church and it is even hard to find a Catholic school to send your kids to where they will remain Catholic later in life. To say we have major problems in the church is a gross understatement . I think God is using people like Tammy Petterson , Candace Owens, Shia Le Buff, Mel Gibson to bring people into the true Catholic Church . Thankyou J.P. For your inspiring talk. God bless your whole family
