- As we always say, unplanned experiences always turn out to be the best and this experience has been one of the best so far! We'd go as far as to say that this trip has been the highlight of Namibia so far!!
It's a long but very special video exploring super remote areas of Namibia. We went up into Damaraland, along the Ugab River, past the Brandberg Mountain range, Doros Crater and Burnt Mountain. We loved every moment of this adventure.

I’m really impressed with the continuing improvement in your photographic and narrative skills as you get into your adventure. At this rate you will not just reach 10k subscribers but I predict 100k before you know it. Oh yes, I m also impressed your the priority you give to cooking great looking meals. Keep on trucking.
Ah were so glad to hear this!
We actually invested in another camera to help with the vlogging aspect of the videos. Glad to see our efforts are being well received. So funny we didn’t have enough fuel or water but we still eat like royalty 😂
H
Bloody brilliant. Can't wait till next week. These defenders come into their own in the rough. Thats what they were made for.
You are absolutely right there Josh! They are fantastic machines.
All the best!
Harry
That’s wild, you give a good sense for how desolate that area of the world is. Stay safe
It’s sure was wild! We loved it 🙌
Hi Harry, Hi Chloe, that ex Namibian popping in again. My-my, you just have that something that gets me careering down memory lane. My father and I used to hike up to the White lady, doing a outside cook out on the way. It took us a day's hike from where we parked his car back in the seventies. We had an old favourite called Namib Stew which consisted of plenty fried onion, a can of old fashioned bully beef stirred in and some diced potatoes. So needless to say that I am a tad sad you did not make your way up to the rock paintings, neither some scenery with Swakopmund as a backdrop or the world renown Spitskop, also known as the Matterhorn of Africa. That said we loved your content and your videography is excellent. Those rock formations are simply stunning along the Ugab. Love the progress with your Defender and that TD5 just retains that unmistakable smooth deep rumble. Sad for you that those long legged Namib Ellies did not make their showing. We're keeping an eye out for your next video indeed! Safe Travels!
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out again! 😀 unfortunately I guess we can’t see everything we absolutely loved all three months of being in Namibia 😀
Was awesome meeting you in Zim at Romelda. Will be catching up on your videos. Safe travels further. Bridget and Ken.
Hey guys! Great to meet you. Glad you got the window sorted 🫣 and thanks for the blueberry’s, oranges oh and the onion 😂

What an epic video guys, thank you for taking the time to show us everything in great detail. So many people rush everything because of time constraints. Lovely quality. I love how you make such lovely meals from scratch every night.
Cheers Ian! Many thanks yes we do eat well hey 😂
I love your channel ❤️ I'll waiting your next new episode.
Awesome so glad to hear that
Thanks for watching
H
@TheLandyExpedition Do you plan come to Japan overland in the future?
Howdy Landies! Well “good road “ in Namibia is no dead bodies! LOL! I have hunted in 8 conservancies in that area and it’s amazingly beautiful as your videos show. Hard to believe how many animals live there. Thanks for sharing…catching up slowly! Saddle up!
It’s such a beautiful country!
I dont think ive missed one since you left. This was a good one, however i think you are going to have to do a piece on the workings of the shower to keep us Defender nerds happy. It’s obvious youve tapped into the cooling circuit from what you showed but im unaware there is an off the shelf solution (esp where you are) that you can plug in and play with. Maybe you did this in one of the build videos as i didn’t watch every one of them. You’ll look back on this trip in 20 years time and it will mean so much.
Coming soon Andrew! Will be a fuel video on the shower system
The drone shots are amazing 🤩
So glad you think so 😀👍🏻
Brilliant Brilliant
Great video guys. Amazing spots. Hope to see it by myself. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible spot 🙌

Great video, thank you!! Namibia is a very special place.
It is indeed! Love Namibia
Jaw-dropping scenery, well captured. If you keep up this level of videography your subscriber count will sky-rocket.
Amazing so glad to hear the our efforts are being so well received! Makes us feel great 😀
Harry
That was wonderful guys. A beautiful, vast country. Glad you're enjoying it. Thank you and safe travels.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed 😀
H
Loving your journey, regarding water, have you thought about water bladders? You can squeeze them between things, and in tight places, it could potentially double your capacity.
Yes we have thought about increasing water storage but we’re pretty heavy as it is. We have gotten used to carrying the amount we do and have adapted to use what we carry. It’s going well 💪🏼
Best adventure yet
Absolutely was!
Great episode guys, those vehicle repairs/fixes in Durban paid you back on this testing drive. Hope you see those elephants.
You’re absolutely right!
We’ve seen a lot of elephants now can’t get enough of them!
H
WOW 😳 Another fantastic video 👍 The scenery is just amazing. I’m subscribed to all of the Land Rover over-landing channels, I just can’t get enough of them 😀 Have fun and stay safe 👍xx
Awesome mark glad you enjoyed!
H
Truly spectacular! Loved every minute! Looking forward to the next one! All the best!
Awesome thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed
H
That was certainly a desolate adventure. Nice one.
It was absolutely epic! Such a good time
H
Thanks
🙌
I loved this video, I worked in Namibia for a couple of years, mostly in the central and southern parts of the country. It really is a spectacular place and my wife and I will definitely be spending a lot more time visiting in the future.
What is your fuel capacity in the Landy? I assume that you have an extra long range tank?
Love Namibia dearly! We can do 1000kms with out long range tank… it pretty handy out there 😀
Awesome video thanks for sharing!! Keep them coming, I am loving your adventure.Namibia is a place I need to visit!!
You must! It’s absolutely stunning. Like nowhere we’ve ever been.
H
Namibia is not a place I really thought about until I seen your video, a truly beautiful place. I was hoping you would find the elephants , but the giraffes were a bonus. I look forward to seeing more of you guys. and hello from Labrador .
Ah awesome I’m glad we have inspired you! It’s an amazing place if you get a chance you must go!
Hi and thanks for the epic TH-cams.
So we inquisitive to know what work you both did back home.

Awesome thanks so much Mike glad you are enjoying 😀
10:24. No seatbelts! Hmmm.
I generally will have it off on slow technical sections as always in and out of the vehicle. But on road is a must!
H
Such an epic area!
Isn’t it!
Hi the Landy's, I'm discovering your channel as I'm preparing our family 4x4 trip to Namibia for this summer. Your experience is really fantastic and your videos are just awesome, and everywhere you go, now I also want to go ! But for sure in a 3 weeks trip we might be short in time to visit all the remote spots and tracks that you share with us ... One question : which map or application or whatever would you recommend to get information about the minor roads of the country ? Like in youy video, we see the image of a map, which one is it ?
Hey! Sounds like an exciting trip for the family, so great to get out no matter how long or short the trip is.
We used tracks4africa.
That’s my favourite area of Namibia. I’ve been pulled out of that river a couple of time after getting stuck in mud after driving up it too soon after the rainy season.
Did you have to drive up the ridge at the start of the Desolation track ??
Such an epic route!
Yes we drive all the way from the rhino camp was such a nice drive
H
Totally enjoyed this video. We tried this about 20 years ago and somehow got lost and had to bail out. Anyway you can share the actual routes you took?
Thank you so much! Ahh that’s a shame! I’ll have a look back at our route and share soon ☺️
We really enjoy your adventurous spirits...we have also done some really nutty things....way to go !!@@TheLandyExpedition
Brilliant
💪🏼😀
Beautiful episode, thank you! What are you using for comms when you dont have cell signal? InReach or something like that?
Hi Andrew. Yes we have an InReach. 😀 thanks for watching
H
Whats the model of your defender, was it a pick up then converted?
It’s a 2000 TD5 hardtop. So technically a van. I then put in the two gullwing windows. Will be doing a full walk around of the Landy soon!
H
@@TheLandyExpedition alright ,thanks would really love that!i haven’t seen anything like it here in BW 🇧🇼
Who films those aerial view?
We do! We have a drone 😀👍🏻
Oh wow! I didn't know that a drone can be operated by person in a moving vehicle. Anyway I love your content. Hopefully, in future I will be able to explore as well.
HI Guys. Some comments. I am trying to follow your route / trip. but TH-cam has one crossing SA and the next your in Brandberg. Not in order. Can I suggest if you go to another country that you number your videos. I am trying to map the route!! Also what highway did you take to Brandberg D2342 or D2359?? etc etc Also you show a map from Swakopmund to Brandberg, but again what route, up the C35, you don't fill it in or say. Enough complaining for today! Take care . Bye the way, have you done Mongolia yet? Thanks for the videos.
Thanks for your comment.
If you head to our channel you can see all of our videos are in order from arrival to South Africa to present day, quite simple to figure out.
I understand you are trying to map a route for yourself based on our travels. Honestly Harry and I can’t remember every single road we have driven along in these past 6+ months of travelling in Africa.
We are working on some more in-depth content regarding our route and detail of our travels so far which will be on our Patreon.
Again, thanks so much for your constructive comments on our video.
Chloe
No we have not been to Mongolia yet.
Thank you for getting back to me. When you have a million subscribers it will be more difficult! Ok, I was just searching in TH-cam itself, where they are not in order. I see using your site they are, thanks. If you love this type of travel you will love Mongolia. Trying to figure out how to send photos. 😜. You are talking to someone who was driving in the deserts probably before you were born. Still have trouble texting.😅 yes, next stop Namibia. Actually mapping out several others as well. You are the only ones so far to mention Khaudum! Yes, do this when you’re young. All the best.
In wich time of the yesr have you been there? It looks like fall, if i watch the shadows.
This was in June ☺️
Do you encounter any security threats out there.
Not many! Or any at all actually
What tire pressures are you guys running? Looking a bit stiff at 15:40 perhaps?
btw, was I your 10,000th subscriber? The number changed after I subbed :D
You could well have been! Where have you been all this time 😂
We will generally drop down to 1.5bar when off road in sand etc 😀 deep sand even lower
@@TheLandyExpedition we experimented with different pressures for a while on those relentless nightmare Namibian washboards.. Eventually you just have to accept that it’s going to suck no matter what 😂
whats the max range of your rig
600miles, maybe just under 1000kms
Thanks
Thanks so much Ronnie! Glad you are enjoying the videos 😀
