    If you do this trip again, consider Divorce Pass out of the Ugab- easy in a Landcruiser and the 48 mile trip to TWF is stunning. Keep safe...

      Hey thanks for the comment.
      We have done Divorce pass and covered it in a previous episode Namibia untamed Grand Finale. Its one of the finest overlanding passes.
      In fact we were in the area when lion was spotted on the pass. th-cam.com/video/HgiLQvjnMlM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mGq7osqaWY1Gl-b0

      Sometimes we are brave, sometimes we are just more considered in our approach, but there is so much to explore and new memories to make that it isn’t always important to listen to the skeptics, just do it!!!! And we are very happy you found our channel. 😉🤗

    You are spoliing us with so many great episodes!
    Your solar - you appear to have an extra panel? Dc-Dc charger? How well is your system working?

      Haha…what an honor it is to spoil someone. Thanks for tour awesome comment.
      DC-DC SETUP(Great question)
      Yes I have a really simple but reliable setup. I use the green box from National Luna that has a built in dc-dc/solar charge controller. I use a 100amp hour
      Silver battery that takes care of all our needs. It powers our fridge and charges several usb devices. In addition I have a bolt on a Victron inverter to charge drone batteries @ 220volt. The battery gets charged from alternator while driving and the 100 Watt solar keeps it charged when stationary.
      If there is power at a campsite I use the National Luna charger.
      The charge controller is lithium ready which is great when the day comes for an upgrade.

    I see you guys also use a Montana 700i. Are you happy with it (as opposed to an Overlander) and which maps do you use. Tracks for Africa? I have the same hence my interest in your experience. Enjoying your videos!

    • @SoulTonicLife
      @SoulTonicLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Montana 700i Is overall great device. It takes a while to get used to the user interface(its not as responsive as a smartphone). Once you figure it out it is a great piece of equipment. The ability to choose different Inreach data packages is useful. Satellite communication is invaluable.
      The device is not perfect-the screen could be brighter, sometimes it switches off and re-boots itself for no reason.
      Figuring out the routing is not intuitive. I have Tracks for Africa loaded on as well. As backup we use Tracks for Africa on our cell phones. It is always a good way to cross reference. We always take paper maps and always use them as well.

      @@SoulTonicLife Many thanks for your feedback. I concur with your experience. Takes a while to get used to the device, and ours also reboots periodically. We chose it for the built in Inreach, and mobility of the device, but I do wonder if the Overlander would have been a better choice for Overlanding? We also find Tracks for Africa is a waste of time trying to use it within SA. Not too bad in surrounding countries. We also carry paper maps. I was thinking maybe I was just a bit dof. Don’t need to respond on that one.
