Social security isn't a benefit, it's money we've paid into for all the years we've had to work. On my checks were 3 categories fed tax, state tax and social security, not a tax a savings for retirement. Reagan opened it up for the government to borrow from and the government never paid it back. They just kept taking more. PAY US BACK AND LEAVE IT ALONE!

Absentee ballots were for service members and business members that live overseas but still citizens! I always went to the polls, just like this year, and we have our voter registration card, our drivers license and the books are checked and everyone I voted for here in my neck of this country was known by 11PM news hour. That's what this elderly woman who voted expected and it was done right.

He misleads you regarding this crazy stuff. Trump slashing the top corporate tax rates from 35% to 21% cost the government way more in revenues than these mandatory spending increases. Interest rates will hit the deficit either way, he's just dishonest about what is driving the deficit. A company earning a billion dollars was paying 350 million in tax on that. Trump essentially started cutting them a hundred and seventy-five million dollar check. Every year from here forward unless we--gasp--raise taxes. And not taxes on use wage earners--that's not where the necessary tax dollars will come from. Tax revenues from us wage slaves is just a tiny drop in the bucket in terms of government tax revenues.

It's not unusual for a politician to speak like this to an empty or near empty chamber.
I can assure you that his colleagues are listening. (Obviously not in "real time" but these speeches are SUPPOSEDLY a matter of public record.) A good portion of them just plain don't CARE about the message for whatever reason. And some "care" but they secretly DISAGREE with it and/or wish to OPPOSE it???
It is wise to remember, that despite their rhetoric, many politicians in Washington D.C. (or even your state's capital, or even more locally), are NOT necessarily your 'friend". They most definitely are NOT people to be "worshipped and adored" despite the "cult of personality" that many of them might have, and the media presence they might "command".

As someone who just lost his job and has a $1400 monthly deficit from what unemployment pays, this hurts. It hurts me that I get nothing, yet 18-24 year olds who lost their $400 per week jobs made $900+ per week in 2020. What about us who worked through the lockdowns? Who have actual mortgages and loans?

My mom passed away a few years ago but in the last 6 months of her life she struggled to know where she was and finally could not swallow..... a side effect of dementia. As my sister and I were trying to move her and make her more comfortable she said in total seriousness “I wish I could just die”. It would take another year of slow decline before she passed quietly in her sleep. I’ve worked in healthcare for 40 years and there has been new treatments and equipment added each year in an effort to forestall death. Some of the chemo injections cost over $100,000 per dose. There is some hope of mRNA allowing the body’s own immune system to recognize cancer and kill the cancer cells like any other infection. Innovation like that will help if big pharma can be squeezed into a control box and contained. But ultimately our culture needs to understand that we all are going to decline and die - hopefully at an age when we have lived a full life and trying to prolong life would be mostly about fighting disease via surgical intervention. Americans could drastically reduce care costs by avoiding complex and painful surgery at the end of the lifespan. My 92 year old aunt lives in FL and less than 2 days before the big hurricane arrived in her town on the gulf coast (Bradenton), the local hospital performed a hysterectomy b/c of cancer they found. It’s unlikely to extend her life but it did produce revenue for the hospital and the physicians. There needs to be guidelines / regs / laws that protect healthcare providers from lawsuits for “failure” to treat at the end of life and a medical review by a third party on the efficacy and likely quality of life impact from undergoing more and more aggressive surgical and other treatments near the end of life.

The biggest problem I see with our Medicare is the money spent on the poor management of it. It is cheaper for me to pay out of pocket than it is to have the program... that is until a major illness happens later in life. Now I have to pay $700 per month out of my $1600 monthly stipend just to make health care affordable as not to land me in poor house were I will ultimately pay all my saving just to enjoy a few more years of life.
An if I am blessed with a cancer I now have to chose where I pay or die... and did you know that there are only 3 or 4 states that have a death with dignity that allows us seniors a choice of how we want to write the last chapters of our lives. Its poor government management of our tax dollars that has caused the short falls of our system.... If you want a clown show then keep hiring the clowns..

I have seen eye insurance cost say 80$... the first eye exam costs that much. So the rest comes out of pocket cause the insurance doesn't cover the rest (read the fine print). I loved Walmart eye care, cause you can just walk in and get help right there and then with quality service and the same name brand contact lenses that the eye Dr. would give you. Now if you have an actual eye problem (infection or damage) then don't get me wrong, you need a real trained eye Dr. (they are there for a reason, not bad talking a profession). I am in mid 40's and time just fly's by... wow... so I started paying attention to people like you. I'm going to have to face the same problem you are having right now. Thank you for your post :)
When I had to get Obama care I had to drop it after 6 month my rx was 3000 deductible and my insurance premium I almost lost everything so I cancelled and was fine

I worked and paid into SSI for 50 yrs . and will hopefully live and collect 15 yrs. longer . So why don't I have enough money in my SSI account to cover my $2200 a month till then ? Is it because the government lost it or gave it away ? I would really like to know the truth .

@Hollowhammer We'll then they can stop social security now for future babies but the people that put money out of each of their paychecks for years and years already paid in and they deserve it back through social security payments. By the way the government used our money we paid into social security got interest on it and have borrowed from it. That's why there's a shortage.

And then they took that money that they were supposed to be holding to save for us and earned interest on it And then decided oh we have bills and there's all this money that we've been saving. It's like your mom putting money in a pay bank for you to go to college one day and then she decides you know what I need a new car and she uses your piggy bank money as a down payment and then when it's time to go to college she's like oh sweetie we just don't have enough money because the car payment is so much

The government gets to keep all that money that was paid in and government doesn't have to pay Medicare medical bills because the person that paid into social security and Medicare all their lives are dead. Government keeps it all but they definitely do not know economics. They are terrible.when it comes to saving, investments and balancing their books. What ever happened to this world? A lot of empty seats EVERY TIME someone talks about how little the government is doing. Has to be really depressing to those that have time to talk and hardly anyone is there to listen. Far too many hearings, investigations and committee meetings going on and still.... it appears that nothing is getting done for those of us that haired them.
