      @@grego4835 no hate on DR but I’ve noticed that as well.
      I’m very nuanced on nutrition being a high level cyclist in my own regard. I’d recommend DR’s protocol but with a few tweaks.
      1. Stop eating gluten it’s a defensive component meant to cause damage to organisms that eat it. Even those that aren’t noticeably allergic still produce inflammatory compounds as a result of gluten ingestion.
      2. Lean organ meats are essential for health and vitality combined with a high carb low fat high water diet.
      If you have any questions or would like some advice on performance nutrition I’d be happy to help!

    Been following DR since his early days when he was fully raw. His diet is legit. I would say usually 80/10/10 works pretty well , the fruit intake must be high , whatever you can manage within your means buying the highest quality fruit you can buy to get all the enzymes and nutrition your body needs. Under 10g fat achievable for most people. Just buy the right foods at the supermarket 😅

      @@garylugg9860 What's the problem with being hungry "all day"? If I get hungry at 8 a.m., 12 p.m, 3 p.m and 8 p.m., so my body wants calories, I eat. Is that bad? Or do you mean never feeling full and eating, say, every hour? That's not true for me though. I eat a high carb, very low fat and protein breakfast at 8:30 a.m. (a couple bananas, oranges, kiwis, dates, some refined sugar, whatever), and don't get hungry until somewhere between 12 - 1 p.m.. I do a sitting, "office" job, but also run or (sometimes and) cycle every day, so overall a very active lifestyle. I have heard from, mostly low carb, high fat, converts that they suffered frequent "hunger knocks" on a high carb diet, but that's not my personal experience. I think what they really did was a high carb, high fat diet and mistake high carb diets for just eating sugary things that at the same time contain lots of fat. That sort of thing does cause "hunger knocks" i.e. never feeling full or for a very short time.

I eat about 8am, 1pm and again about 6, but dinner is often is different than daytime fuel. I will start with a sweet beverage like lemonade while I cook let it pretty much get out of my stomach before I eat... and all my overt fats are eaten then with salad and veg, and my protein choice, maybe some white rice if I need extra carbs but I find my protein/fatty meals digest better without starches so thats why I just try and get in as much fruit/sugar prior to dinner. Sleep great, not hungry at all between meals. I think a lot of people are afraid to eat the volume it takes to get in the calories. Of course fruit that is super sweet and ripe that doesn’t even need sugar is ideal but it’s better to add some sugar than to not... unless you are eating too much fat in your diet then sugar may make you crash. What you don't realize is that by eating high carb low fat you can loose weight without needing to be in a caloric deficit. Essencially you lose fat while riding at zone 2 and you never put fat back. Losing weight becomes effortless. The reason why losing weigh is so uncomfortable is because you need to be in a caloric deficit and your glycogen stores empty. High carb low fat will allow you to lose weight while feeling great with fully stocked glycogen and not hungry. It's like the discovery of the century!

      @@cracked229 that’s why people doing CICO are always hungry even if they eat at maintenance. The reason being they usually eat stupidly high protein (which burns their kidneys to smithereens) stupidly high fat, and not enough carbs to keep their glycogen stores not even remotely filled. Stress, depression, lethargy, low libido, etc ensue as a result. There is just one thing I don’t agree with durian rider. I would cut the gluten and replace it with rice, chickpea, lentil alternatives. Add more veggies and less rice.

    • @johnraw98
      @johnraw98 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thomasamblard9194 the carbs we eat are not turned into fat, they are stored as glycogen and the glycogen storage in our body is massive. Fat on the other hand is turned into body fat immediately. So as long as you eat low fat your body won’t add any body fat to itself. This will only ensure you don’t gain weight.
      In order to lose wait you will have to exercise at low intensity, zone 1 or Zone 2. Look it up. When on zone 2 about 80% or more of the calories being used by the body is coming from body fat. When you go over to zone 3 the body switches to mostly glycogen. So if you take a long walk or a long zone 2 bike ride you will possibly be burning 100 to 200g of pure fat. 200g if you are a badass riding like the pros lol 4 to 6 hours a day.
      Low fat diet means you can eat as much as you want and feel great all the time as long as what you’re eating is low in fat. Keep it under 20g a day. If you’ve lost all the fat you wanted to then you can increase the fat of course up to however much you burned during the day.

      @@samnsamole9448 THANK YOU! I never heard of him before today, and ran across his channel when his title caught my eye about Dr Greger and bashing his advice lol. It was so hard finding his nutrition recc info, because he was ranting about diets while bike riding & how fit he was and how he out paces 20 and 30 years olds on the bike trail, and I was like "Well how does he eat then?" Because he based Dr. Greger who is plant based, but also Rogan who is mostly all about protein, meat, and some hwalthy veg I think? And I was still scrolling through so many videos trying to find a nutrition video or "what I eat in a day," and gave up after scroling through 4 years worth of videos. 😂
      So basically would you say his diet is like Dr. Mcdougall's starch solution?? Or it's a little different from that? I remember trying the rice diet one time for 3 days when I heard about it, and peed like crazy and lost 4lbs 😂. Which completely contradicts EVERYTHING they tell you, when it comes to keto & low carb. Because usually they say low carb or keto makes you grt rid of water weight.
      I'm in a non surgical bariatric program and they have me basically doing a lower fat keto, after a mandatory 2 week carb detox protocol with NO carbs, sugars, even though they don't reccomend electrolytes to keep you sustained..and I feel like CRAP trying to get in electrolytes and protein to try to get over the hunger, palpitations and occasional chest pain. 2 weeks in and I lost 16lbs, but stalled now. I am eating one meal a day, CONSTANTLY HUNGRY because it's not even 900s calories sometimes, constsntly drinking electros necause of the palpitations, because if I eat more than 2x the scale doesn't budge, despite being under 1000 calories. My BMR is terrible at 1430 calories so I'm trying to increase my muscle & metabolism.
      I did plant based for a few months prior and that's when I felt the best! But the weight came off so slow. Admittedly I was eating sauces and wraps, so I think the wheat, added sugars and preservatives were the culprit. But I'm so tempted to say "screw this program" and go back to plants and the starch solution, which I never gave a solid try, since I now did a carb detox to get over the processed food & sugar cravings & can enjoy natural foods more now without hyperpalletable sauces 😂.
      But what youre describing in your comment sounds like the starch solution. So THANK YOU for taking the time to write out your comment!

Today morning, at 7:30 a.m., I had a breakfast of 60g of white sugar, 2 medium bananas, 2 clementines and 2 kiwi fruits. I then did a hill running session between 9:00 and 10:30 p.m. I was feeling perfectly full and energetic all that time and didn't even think about food once. I did down 50g of white sugar before the last 2 miles "just in case". I came back home 12:00 p.m. having half a bottle of coconut water, a banana and a pound of fresh grapes in the car making the journey back home. Not felt hungry at any single moment, just ate because I know not to delay eating until hunger comes around the workout time. I then had 200g of white rice with brown sugar and 2 chopped in apples and wasn't hungry again until 7 p.m. when I fixed myself a dinner. So there you go.
      Now, back when I was doing moderate carbs, and upped my protein and fat, while at the same time training running and cycling intensively, that's when I was constantly thinking about food and could never get to feel full (and my recovery sucked too). He is controversial and has made mistakes but I believe his intentions are generally and genuinely good for other people, animals, and the environment. I therefore am intimately aware of the saga between him/Hannah Chloe which started in 2016 and every nuance in between. Based on this knowledge and all of the evidence presented by both parties I am of the firm belief that the allegations made against him are fabricated, and therefore feel it necessary to defend his character in this regard. You'll see my comments in many videos on this topic because I believe that being falsely accused of r*pe and having this spread on social media by haters, would be one of the most difficult experiences to endure. You still have plausible deniability that I might be DR using a fake account, however, Harley often uses his genuine verified YT accounts in comments sections such as this when questioned over the allegations, and also is usually more succinct and rarely writes long monologues such as this. Nevertheless, all I can say is that the above is true whether you believe me or not.
      Second, you're correct that you didn't accuse him of anything, however your comment "there's some fairly concerning claims against him if you google his real name" was totally unrelated to the contents of the video you commented on and obviously designed to smear his character!
      Thirdly, again you're correct in your statement that "fake rape claims are few and far between compared to actual rapes that have gone unpunished" however there are also pages of cases of mens lives destroyed by such lies documented on TH-cam.
      Finally, if any objective evidence shows that he is actually guilty of the allegation, I'll gladly turn on him and become another full-blown hater, but as it stands all the evidence points to the allegation as being completely fake IMO. Despite your dislike for him, hopefully you can at least curb your desire to spread unproven and unsubstantiated claims across the internet...I'm pretty sure you would like the same benefit if something similar happened to you. The article linked in the description misses an important aspect: speed of carb dosing vs speed at which glucose can be converted into glycogen, regardless the saturation level of glycogen storage.
    Another thing: when ingesting sugar (50 % fructose) in high doses and fast, the liver gets overloaded and, to avoid catastrophic outcomes, it will rapidly convert excess fructose into fat. That fat will not develop under the skin (subcutaneous) but rather in the organ. And that's a beautiful start towards cirrhosis.
    Note that one can have fatty liver and be skinny at the same time.
    Also note that testosteron level impacts (in a good way) how good can you body deal with carb inrush.
    A piece of advice: no matter the road you take in nutrition, always document your baseline with a few labworks. I'd definitely include serum triglycerides and gamma GT. Then, in the midst of you experiment, repeat blood tests to see whether you're doing it well or not. I'm talking from personal experience (with unpleasant surprises).

      Fructose cannot be used directly as fuel except a small amount of tissue. When dosing the right amount, it will aid in keeping up the energy level. When overdosed, the excess is converted to fat and stored at the nearest place - the liver. It is not like fat is clogging the arteries and veins inside the liver, but as in creating scars inside the tissues due to pressure and rupture. Imagine small pockets of fat. A lot of them.
      And fat cells can multiply in adulthood. The more you create by overfeeding, the faster they damage the liver at the next overfeed when they fill up with fat (mostly triglycerides).
      When on long rides (beyond one hour) at or above zone 2, you can dose 60 g of glucose + 30 g of fructose OR 60 g of table sugar (equals 30 glucose + 30 g fructose) + 30 glucose.
      You do that while sedentary, and it kills you in a few years.
      The liver's activity depends highly on muscular activity.

    The reason DR isn't getting fat is because he's doing what is called "exercise bulimia" (meaning he's burning more calories thru excessive exercise than he's ingesting). There's no telling what all that excess sugar is doing to his body & teeth. If he kept the same diet, but didn't exercise so excessively, then we'd definitely see a different physique on DR. On top of all that he's taking P.E.Ds (Performance Enhancing Drugs), which also alters his body hormone levels. He could achieve similar results w/ a keto diet & wouldn't have to exercise so much. But keto also has its drawbacks, so a healthy balanced diet w/ proper exercise is preferred.

    • @TimpBizkit
      @TimpBizkit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He does talk about "bacon and eggs" people not leaning down even with lots of exercise. The things I can think of:
      1: they are actually eating more Calories trying to get durianrider level carbs from bacon and eggs means way more total - most of it fat.
      2: Their exercise stamina is lower if you measured watts, joules etc of total mechanical power in whatever bike ride (harder to measure for running).
      On "unlimited carbs" it is easy to mindlessly erase a calorie deficit by going over the fat. A couple of bits of buttered toast, or a poorly chosen pasta sauce might already be too much.

    • @MoCa1979Jr
      @MoCa1979Jr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TimpBizkit WTF are you ever talking about? Have you ever tried a vegan or keto diet before? I have & I'm attesting to the common results & complaints ppl have on said diets.
      1). If you ever tried a keto diet, you'd quickly discover that you can't eat massive amounts of protein. Even if you could, you don't know how the diet works, because calories are almost inconsequential. Keto forces your body to burn fat for fuel (as opposed to carbs), so you lose weight, quickly. FYI your body needs fat to live, you don't necessarily need carbs (as I've went a few months w/o consuming carbs).
      2). How about you try "unlimited carbs" for a month, then do Keto. And I guarantee you'll lose more in the 1st 2 weeks of keto than you'd ever lose w/ a month of "unlimited carbs". If you're going to exercise, ensure you do the exact same routine for both.

Most elite athletes have low test from brutal training and competition schedules. It is why 99% of big name athletes use exogenous hormones and WADA etc DONT use CIR tests as the first line of testing for exogenous testosterone AND why they allow a 4:1 T/E ratio as they want you to use gear but not too much. You will easily up your fat intake into calorie surplus and weight gain. There is not a lot of room for fat. This is the truth. I gained 5 pounds because I thought there was more room for fat than there was. Seems like your body wants 90% carbs and nibbles tiny morsels of fat when you have such an abundant supply of premium grade dry tinder to give it, instead of damp fat firewood.

    There is a process called de novo lipogenesis (literally: Creation of fat from non-fat sources) that can occur in the body. This process turns glucose into lipids, which are then stored as body fat.
    This process is normally quite inefficient in the body[, which suggests that carbohydrates cannot be stored as fat to a high degree.
    The process can be upregulated (enhanced) if dietary fat comprised almost none of the diet (lesser than 10%, as a rough estimate), if carbohydrate intake is excessively high for a period of a few days, or if one follows an obesogenic diet (diet that is likely to make you fat) for a prolonged period of time.

    • @TimpBizkit
      @TimpBizkit ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the really obese people (the ones with BMI in the 70s or more) that shovel thousands of calories down their throat as featured on TV probably are still eating "glycogen neutral", but as their body grows, the craving for glucose goes up. Unfortunately all the high fat fried food means the kcal ingested per gram of glucose is higher. The fat gets stored, the mass and glucose demand goes up in a runaway chain reaction. Then again it's hard to tell which fat is from fat and which is from converted sugar/starch/protein/alcohol. Also if sugar isn't getting to cells, then the person may still feel hungry.
      As an example, if you took what was formerly a keto diet and added sugar, then the person's weight/fat would likely go up. This is most likely because some of the fat that was eaten on the keto diet is no longer used for fuel because the body has glucose and fructose now and isn't forced to run on all fat. The body will run better but will get fat, assuming there is enough extra sugar for a total calorie surplus. There may be problems with hyperglycemia if the person became diabetic/insulin resistant from all the fat taken in on the keto diet.
