I love how much knowledge you have on clothing and fashion. Especially when a lot of the population think that people who talk about fashion and clothing a lot are “dumb” but it’s really not and there’s a lot more to it and you definitely show this.

Interesting video that touched on some important issues re sweaters, although there is so much more to say about them. I knit, mostly sweaters, since I'm also obsessed with them (I have knit and own what I describe as a "ridiculous" number of sweaters, and I cannot stop!), I've designed my own and teach a class on knitting sweaters that look and fit great. If there's one thing that knitting and designing sweaters teaches you, it's about the relationship between knitted fabric, sweater construction, and realizing what does and doesn't work for your body type. And also what look you're going for. First off is knowing your body type. Second is understanding the different types of sweater constructions and if they will work well with your body type. Third is making sure that there's a match between the yarn used and the sweater construction. Fourth is making sure you wear a given sweater with its appropriate bottom. Think fitted sweaters over loose, flow-y skirts or pants, and oversized sweaters over skinny jeans or fitted skirts. Hi-low hem sweaters are great with leggings because they cover the butt. Most common sweater constructions: - drop sleeve: oversized; in its most basic form, is two rectangles or squares, and trapezoid sleeves. Neckline can be everything from boatneck to scooped. No shaping to these, as your video shows. Not going to look that great on larger, plus-sized women. Best worn with fitted skirts/pants/jeans, as you've shown, and out of thinner yarn. Stripes, textured stitches, cables or lace are all good with this style. However, a surefire way to look 20 lbs heavier than you are is to get a drop-sleeve sweater knit out of big, fat yarn, and full of cables (or worse yet, bobbles) that creates a stiff, very dense fabric. Classic Aran-styled sweaters are usually this style, and while quite beautiful, are just never going to be flattering on most women. They look great on dudes, though, and are incredibly warm when knit out of wool. - modified drop sleeve: I love these; they borrow from the set-in sleeve sweater with shoulder shaping and maybe a small notch where the sleeve joins the body under the arm. These help improve the drape and fit of the sweater by cutting down on the bulk of the sweater. I don't see these in stores, but a style that is flattering on many body types is the oversized boxy pullover with fitted sleeves. In order to work, they need to be out of thinner, drape-y yarns. - raglan sleeves: these may be seamed or un-seamed. Can be fitted (negative ease) or oversized (positive ease). They tend to look best on average to athletic women with broader shoulders since they have no inherent shaping at the yoke, and women with narrow shoulders can look frumpy in them. Wool or wool blends are ideal, rather than cotton or rayon/viscose, as these will grow, causing the sweater to drag down over time, and look even LESS flattering. They are damn comfortable and great as a throw-on sweater, though! If they are fitted and have waist shaping, they can be incredibly awesome. - set-in sleeve: that Forever 21 sweater was an example (very poor, albeit) of this type of sweater; that sweater had a shallow, poorly shaped armscye. A proper-fitting set-in sleeve sweater should have the edge of the shoulder seam hit right where a properly fitting blazer would - right at the edge of the shoulder. The geometry of the armscye and sleeve cap shaping can vary, but it needs to match properly or the sweater will not fit or just look awful. This is the one style of sweater that, if fitted properly, will flatter every body type. Seaming keeps the knit fabric from sagging over time, and these are usually worn with no ease, or maybe 1" either way. - circular yoke sweaters: think Fair Isle or Norwegian style wool sweaters. These are usually constrained by the color design pattern that is part of the sweater, which limits their construction. Like raglans, they look best on women who have broad shoulders and are not busty. However, if you're a knitter and have some serious boobage going on, you can add bust darts to these and make them work. - dolman sleeves: no sleeve seams, can be knit sideways or vertical. Sleeve shape can vary a lot, but it's usually quite wide at the arm/shoulder area and taper out to the cuff. More flattering if knit out of thinner yarn that drapes and fitted a bit lower in the sleeves. You clearly have a body type that can look good in all of these sweater styles, you are lucky! I'd toss out that piece of crap Forever 21 sweater, tho, and get a nice set-in sleeve sweater that fits properly and isn't out of cheap acrylic yarn - you'll be amazed at the difference!

I love how you discuss the “science” of clothing; it’s fit, it’s composition, it’s textures, etc.; You really do go above and beyond! Love your channel! xoxo Brittany Erin
Do you have any tips on wearing sweaters with bigger breasts? Every time I try to wear one I end up looking like a balloon animal lmao EDIT: Thank you for all the advice!! I'm going out later for some sweaters and I'll definitely be keeping all this in mind!! ^^
Wear a tight, form-fitting sweater. I’m a 32DDD, so I go down a size if the sweater is not form-dotting. I get all my tops in a size small, even though my chest calls for a medium. It looks nice. It’ll accentuate your figure.
I love these videos, because you are able to explain to me why my favourite jeans are so flattering, why my best sweaters compliment my body shape, etc. This makes it so much easier for me when I'm shopping. :) Because now I know what exactly I am looking for in order for it to be a flattering item of clothing. Before I would just buy things that looked good on the models
There is no reason for you to care about this story of mine but I had the perfect cardigan years ago and lost it (I have no idea how or where) and have been disappointed by every cardigan since
“I saw this at the store and was like ‘omg this is so bad, I have to get it’” DAMN guys, she literally bought that sweater to show us why not to buy it. We don’t deserve her😭
I liked that you used Devany to help illustrate your point about texture, however it would have been nice to see options that don't work so well on her in contrast to those that did to emphasise the difference.
Can you do a video about wardrobe basics/essentials? I’ve been meaning to shrink down my wardrobe, but I don’t know what clothes I should keep or donate because I love all of them:(

Keep these type of vids coming! May Abba Father Bless and Protect and Prosper u and ur family and all of the families of ur sub's Always ABUNDANTLY in Jesus Christ Mighty name I pray, Amen!
One thing I absolutely love about your videos, is that your tips genuinely work for everyone, not just certain body types!! I have a very large, natural chest that is quite disproportionate from the rest of my frame (34G bra size, to give an idea), plus I struggle with a disproportionately bloated belly because of multiple endometriosis-like conditions, to the point that on bad days, people have actually asked if I'm pregnant (rude much?😬). Because of all of this, I don't even come close to fitting one of the body type shapes that you see everywhere, and I'm constantly bombarded with fashion that I love, but being at a complete loss on how to make it work for me. Your tips are more about the whole person and the actual science behind why things work the way they do, which my logical brain just loves! The past year especially, I've gone through alot of changes with my style and loving my body for what it is (and how frikkin amazing it is, whether I'm feeling it or not!) but because of my physical challenges I've had trouble putting my changing feelings and mindset into practice in my wardrobe. Watching your videos, it's like you're giving a voice and practical applications to these ideas that have been bouncing around my brain but not fully formed yet. I can't thank you enough! Btw, sorry if you see a buttload of comments from me all of a sudden, I'm binge-watching your videos!😅❤

So often I'm frustrated with TH-cam videos and I have to watch 10 on the same subject just to hear something I didn't already know. Every single video I watch of yours is a breath of fresh air. I learn so much and honestly my wardrobe/ self care routine has changed for the better. I just wish I could do a one on one consultation with you! Thank you so much for making these!!!
Can you please do a video about bras? I feel like I’ve been stuck in nursing bras for comfort and I stopped nursing months ago ☹️ I’m not sure how to go about shopping for a bra after my body’s change 😐
You can measure yourself at home so you don't have to go in blind. I think the underbust is extremely important so I'd measure that first. But remember that bras are stretchy and lose their tightness quickly so go for the smaller band - no digging but tight. I used to think I was a 32, turns out I'm a 30 even if I measure slightly above that. The cup is pretty obvious when worn but don't be scared of the bigger cup sizes, if they fit they fit :)
I was like who is punking me? When is Andrea going to pop out? Crazy twinning. Same voice could be related. I would say twin but we all know she already has one lol
5:10 good tip, thank you! Idk about sweaters, but i sometimes tuck in my tops, because some are long on me (I'm only 4'11"), tucking in seems to look less baggy on me and brings the look together BUT I will def be more conscious of making sure my waist is still cinched. Thank you~
Wow I havent watched one of your videos in....idk forever. Maybe since I subscribed? And just happened upon this and was happily surprised with the video. Finally there was an interesting personality on the other side of my screen, and it automatically made me super interested in what else you were gonna say even tho I was a fashion major, and should know this stuff. It's like I forgot, or stopped caring. This was so refreshing. I quite love the way you narrate as well. And it's almost like I can tell you're smiling when you talk (rule #1 for voiceovers right? Haha) please make videos more regularly 😊
I really love all of your videos because you're really natural, funny, friendly and beautiful 💜 I'm really in love with this kind of serie were you talk about clothing because it's actually really useful, interesting and it makes me understand that I'm beautiful 💜 I hope you'll make more 💜 Thank you and love you 💜
All of these optical illusions you mention that I never thought about! So I don't have body dysmorphia haha! I swear I was going insane: One day I look in the mirror and I "look fat" then the next day I put something else on and I look like I lost 10 lbs in one day. I never considered what different cuts were doing to my body, I always assumed there was something wrong with me because I didn't look right in something. The bunching at the waistline part was a real eye opener and the shoulder seam! Thank you!
I swore off sweaters for a long time, opting for multiple layers of lighter fabrics. Then I got tired of layering and last year I added some sweaters that were comfortable, easy to care for, and I love wearing. I've been selective this time around.
I just started watching your channel and I’m obsessed! You’re so unique in the way you present your ideas, and I love how you sort of research the “science” of fashion which I’ve never really seen before. Keep it up❤️❤️
Also investing in quality natural knits over acrylic is a game changer. They pile less. Don't seem to lose their shape or fade colors as easily. Don't have to wash them as often. Yes, they're more expensive and finicky to care for, but they elevate every look.
I'm short/small and love a more fitted sweater. It looks better. I don't look good in cropped boxy sweaters. I avoid those. If I do get an oversized sweater, I pair it with skinny jeans and boots.
Omg the whole time I thought it WAS Andrea and here I’m thinking- “Damn I know I haven’t watched this girl in a while but what the hell did she do to herself? So sad these YTbers get some $$ and automatically go for the plastic surgery.” 😅 my bad!
Lorena Cadena omg 😂😂😂 I thought it was andreas' twin sister bc they lowkey look similar but not exactly winning. and she also has a little canadian accent so tht helped me determine they were in fact different ppl.
For drying sweaters I recommend a multi-arm towel bar. You can get one with thicker arms so it doesn’t mark. Attach it to the door and you have a good, compact place to dry several sweaters at once. You can also dry your dark denim on it so they don’t fade in the dryer (bonus tip, wash your jeans inside out). By using the towel bar they get the air circulation of hanging without getting all stretched out in weird places from the hanger. Dry them until one side seems dry/mostly dry, then flip them over for the other side to finish.
There is sooo much joy you can derive from knitting a sweater with your own hands, from what I’ve heard. I knit, but I’ve only done hats and scarves. Sweaters are my next hurdle!
Honestly I really like how this video didnt have that condescending vibe some tip/advice videos have. This just felt like getting some advice from a friend if that makes sense. Good vibes~ also fr fr I need to get myself a de-piller asap that thing looks SO HELPFUL.
When you hand wash woolen sweaters, use the spin dry to get the water out. It is the gentlest way. The centrifical force presses the fabric against the drum. No pulling or stretching.
i really wasnt into many of these sweater shapes before. I liked the very specific: long but not oversized, with no busy print and smooth that stops at the hip or fleece pullovers (which I still love). But now looking at how they can be modeled and shaped to fit the body. I really wanna try them all out( even the ones like those towards the end pf the videu that may need a little tailoring). Thanks for opening my mind Alexandra!
Great advice and great sweater collection. I wanted to add something to what you said about contrast and hair colour. I'm a Soft Summer with blonde hair and I look TERRIBLE in bright or saturated colours. Likewise, a lot of people with dark hair will be a "season" that looks awful in light colours. What you said is true depending on what sort of fashion style you're going for; because often, wearing the wrong colours means people's eyes will be drawn away from your face and I suppose that can be what some people are looking for. I follow my season now because it means appreciating and working with my natural complexion, which is soft and delicate, and can easily "disappear" in bright or saturated colours. So my advice to people is . . . find your season instead and wear the colours that work in harmony for you.

I love how you discuss the “science” of clothing; it’s fit, it’s composition, it’s textures, etc.; You really do go above and beyond! Love your channel! xoxo
Brittany Erin
Do you have any tips on wearing sweaters with bigger breasts? Every time I try to wear one I end up looking like a balloon animal lmao EDIT: Thank you for all the advice!! I'm going out later for some sweaters and I'll definitely be keeping all this in mind!! ^^
Your comment cracked me up. Still - it's a good problem to have! :P
Same
I have that same problem,
and I am not sure but I think it gets worse with knitted sweaters, I look gigantic in them
V neck should be your best friend!
Wear a tight, form-fitting sweater. I’m a 32DDD, so I go down a size if the sweater is not form-dotting. I get all my tops in a size small, even though my chest calls for a medium. It looks nice. It’ll accentuate your figure.
I literally don't care what your video is about lol I click regardless 😂💜
Myhearts Philosophy same 😂😂 lol
Same
Myhearts Philosophy a guaranteed learning experience 😂
I wish i would be as pretty as you are❤
Same 😂
I love these videos, because you are able to explain to me why my favourite jeans are so flattering, why my best sweaters compliment my body shape, etc. This makes it so much easier for me when I'm shopping. :) Because now I know what exactly I am looking for in order for it to be a flattering item of clothing. Before I would just buy things that looked good on the models
Yes we could always use a lesson in fashion!!
You still deserve more subscribers
You should do a video on cardigans cause I can never find one that I really like and doesn’t make my back feel wide
There is no reason for you to care about this story of mine but I had the perfect cardigan years ago and lost it (I have no idea how or where) and have been disappointed by every cardigan since
Alana Kiss I hope your doing well 😔
yes please do! i have like 9 cardigans that i never wear anymore because i hate how they look with t shirts.
Madelaine Guillotte same here I really hope she makes a video on this
I cant believe you say “this video is going to change your life” in all your videos and IT’S ACTUALLY TRUE 🤯🤯🤯
As always it is a perfect video and it basically changed how i'll dress in the future 😂
“I saw this at the store and was like ‘omg this is so bad, I have to get it’” DAMN guys, she literally bought that sweater to show us why not to buy it. We don’t deserve her😭
Sometimes she's wearing something and I'm like oh that looks great and then she's like "This is a no" and shows the next slide and I'm like 🤯
😂😂😂😂
I liked that you used Devany to help illustrate your point about texture, however it would have been nice to see options that don't work so well on her in contrast to those that did to emphasise the difference.
Can you do a video about wardrobe basics/essentials? I’ve been meaning to shrink down my wardrobe, but I don’t know what clothes I should keep or donate because I love all of them:(
XDnarutomaniacIT this would be a great video!
Did I stop watching other videos to watch this, yes
You sound so much like Andreas choice omgggg
They are twins lol for real they are.
People always comment this on Alex's vids 😂
I thought the same thing I got so confused when i heard her voice
I know I agree I'm highly confused!!!
She is herself...
No one :
Rich people : "omg this is bad I have to get it!"
Are you?.... are you related to Andrea? (I think her channel is called AndreasChoice) you sound so much like her I thought I clicked on the wrong video lol.
i thought the exact same thing!! the way they speak is extremely similar its scary lol
I said the same thinggggg i thought I was crazy
Was scrolling through the comments just to see if anyone else that this
They’re twins 👯
I thought exactly the same as you girls! They have exactly the same voice!
My Beautiful soul sister, I pray that u and the fam are doing well today. Alex I thank u SOOOO VERY MUCH for all of ur help when it comes to EVERYTHING fashion related! Bcuz of ur vid on jeans I now ONLY buy second hand jeans that meet what u spoke about in that vid! And now I'll be able to buy sweaters that are right for my body type and my hair!
Btw, sorry if you see a buttload of comments from me all of a sudden, I'm binge-watching your videos!😅❤
you look gorgeous even in those "bad" sweaters that aren't supposed to flatter the silhouette!
I wrote a paragraph about you for my English class. We had to write about someone who inspires us.💗
omg
Where are you from? I'm studying English too 😃😃 by the way i speak spanish
I love her videos ❤❤
@@someone-hk3so I'm from Trinidad
Reminder for me:
• details in neck

She looks amazing in the "bad" sweaters

Hands down - no questions asked- the most educational fashion youtuber out there! Not just showing us different styles for different body shapes and sizes consistantly, but actually TEACHING us HOW to dress fashionably so we are loaded up with the knowledge to do it ourselves. As always, BRAVO, girl, BRAVO!!

Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Old Navy!
i laughed when she said avoid the unisex oversized sweaters and showed the one sleeved frilly one, she obviously doesn't live in alaska lmfao no hate though, loved the vid
Lol Alaska I live in Georgia and I'd still freeze wearing that
Micaela Voss lmao
So often I'm frustrated with TH-cam videos and I have to watch 10 on the same subject just to hear something I didn't already know. Every single video I watch of yours is a breath of fresh air. I learn so much and honestly my wardrobe/ self care routine has changed for the better. I just wish I could do a one on one consultation with you! Thank you so much for making these!!!
Can you please do a video about bras? I feel like I’ve been stuck in nursing bras for comfort and I stopped nursing months ago ☹️ I’m not sure how to go about shopping for a bra after my body’s change 😐
Maybe it would be helpful to get fitted if you're comfortable with that?
You can measure yourself at home so you don't have to go in blind. I think the underbust is extremely important so I'd measure that first. But remember that bras are stretchy and lose their tightness quickly so go for the smaller band - no digging but tight. I used to think I was a 32, turns out I'm a 30 even if I measure slightly above that. The cup is pretty obvious when worn but don't be scared of the bigger cup sizes, if they fit they fit :)
Go and get actually fitted for a bra!!
I’m going to go crazy because you legit sound like AndreasChoice.. voice, pausing, references and everything
Diana Elizabeth !!!! RIGHT They have to be related cause this is toooo much 😂
Diana Elizabeth I thought the same thing!!!
I was like who is punking me? When is Andrea going to pop out? Crazy twinning. Same voice could be related. I would say twin but we all know she already has one lol
Omg i thought that too!
Exactly my thoughts.. uncanny
I’ve been looking for solutions to the fuzzy balls on my sweaters for years and u literally saved my life. I really appreciate your content keep it up
Same over here! Do you have any idea where I can find it?
This video made me feel so cozy 😌🍂
Thanks Alexandra😘
Please do a "what no one tells you about t-shirts".
She has a video about how to wear a plain white t-shirt if that helps
That they are tshirts?

Can you tell us Where did you get your sweaters from?

Are you still 8? How have you managed to not wear a sweater for that long??
@@KumarKumar-ic3ys i wear more sweatshirts, cardigans, and jackets than sweaters.
cardigan = sweater???
I really love all of your videos because you're really natural, funny, friendly and beautiful 💜 I'm really in love with this kind of serie were you talk about clothing because it's actually really useful, interesting and it makes me understand that I'm beautiful 💜 I hope you'll make more 💜 Thank you and love you 💜
I like this video but lol, I'm gonna keep wearing giant frumptastic sweaters
same huge sweaters are so cute.
yep frumptastic..i love that word. cute video but comfort and relaxation is my thing
Thank you!
*My socks are rocked*
Wait......am I the only one that thinks she talks just like Andreas Choice?
sunny lanes omgggg no she sounds just like her! I couldn’t think of her name.
I swore off sweaters for a long time, opting for multiple layers of lighter fabrics. Then I got tired of layering and last year I added some sweaters that were comfortable, easy to care for, and I love wearing. I've been selective this time around.
that depilling thing was so satisfying haha
I just started watching your channel and I’m obsessed! You’re so unique in the way you present your ideas, and I love how you sort of research the “science” of fashion which I’ve never really seen before. Keep it up❤️❤️
Also investing in quality natural knits over acrylic is a game changer. They pile less. Don't seem to lose their shape or fade colors as easily. Don't have to wash them as often. Yes, they're more expensive and finicky to care for, but they elevate every look.
Any tips for short people wearing sweaters?
omg YES , i look so small in every sweater i wear
seconded
Same thing for tall but broad shouldered chunky people. I look like a mixture of a hammer and brick out to destroy everyone when I wear a sweater
I'm short/small and love a more fitted sweater. It looks better. I don't look good in cropped boxy sweaters. I avoid those. If I do get an oversized sweater, I pair it with skinny jeans and boots.
omg the way you talk sounds like andreas choice!
Yes she does!!
I know I wasn't the only one noticing this!!
She sounds exactly like andreaschoice it’s freaking me out
Her voice is so soothing and she's so intelligent
You are such a great editor!
alexandra and devany are so gorgeous. like what the hell!!?!?!??
For drying sweaters I recommend a multi-arm towel bar. You can get one with thicker arms so it doesn’t mark. Attach it to the door and you have a good, compact place to dry several sweaters at once. You can also dry your dark denim on it so they don’t fade in the dryer (bonus tip, wash your jeans inside out). By using the towel bar they get the air circulation of hanging without getting all stretched out in weird places from the hanger. Dry them until one side seems dry/mostly dry, then flip them over for the other side to finish.
How is there so much science behind clothes??!
I literally love this channel
this is making me so much more conscientious of what i wear.. in a good way
There is sooo much joy you can derive from knitting a sweater with your own hands, from what I’ve heard. I knit, but I’ve only done hats and scarves. Sweaters are my next hurdle!
Wait a second, I’ve been watching this channel for awhile and the whole time thought she was AndreasChoice
Koren Avery omg me too u just blew my mind
Honestly I really like how this video didnt have that condescending vibe some tip/advice videos have. This just felt like getting some advice from a friend if that makes sense. Good vibes~
also fr fr I need to get myself a de-piller asap that thing looks SO HELPFUL.
When you hand wash woolen sweaters, use the spin dry to get the water out. It is the gentlest way. The centrifical force presses the fabric against the drum. No pulling or stretching.
Girl I’m BINGING on your videos, I love your style and loving the way you speak fashion! Sweater weather is upon us 🍂
I've been on sweater hunts for winter! And by sweater, I mean more then one 😂. This video could not have come at a better time!
i really wasnt into many of these sweater shapes before.
And this video JUST so happened to pop up in my recommendations right after I go shopping for cute sweaters.
I don’t know if you heard this before, but you sound like Andrea’s Choice
Asia Polk they sound exactly the same
Great advice and great sweater collection.
Who’s is the other model in the clips. She is SO GORGEOUS
Makes a list about what to look for in a new sweater
I just went and bought a depilling tool. You are a life saver! I did not know such things existed! I have a lovely long Aran sweater that had begun pilling and it was breaking my heart.
If somebody made a TH-cam channel shaving pilling sweaters, I think I'd watch it for hours! #oddlysatisfying 😂😂
Sis definitely aced geometry💪💪
Great tips and good point. I did notice the black and white checks before the solid green. I've checked 3 times and got the same results. Never thought of that before. Great videos and I love sweaters.
I've watched all of your clothing videos but fell in love when you mentioned staples that every girl should own. Will you please do a capsule closet video💕👍
