It's interesting to me how "effortless" is such a common compliment for an outfit, but so much of what makes people instantly stylish is an element that shows additional effort beyond the default.
@@sarahkinsey5434 sure, totally, but it's a contrast between things where it's obviously more effort and things where the goal is to seem like it's not more work. Both seem stylish.
100% this. If I walk by someone who has clearly put real effort into their outfit, even if I personally dislike everything they're wearing, I still think they look stylish and cool. It's the confidence to stand out, or even just the confidence to admit to everyone who sees you that you care about something.
I think effortless can also mean it looks like you wear it easily, even if you put a lot of thought and time i to the look. For example: the fit is crisp but not too tight or uncomfortable looking, you don't need to always pull tug and adjust as you move, the outfit is conducive to your natural activities, and you appear at ease and at home and to feel yourself in it.
For me, stylish is the intentionality. It's wearing whatever you think looks good, regardless of what is considered appropriate/trendy and sticking to it. Because the default is boring. Like, for example, why is sparkly clothing considered party/evening wear? It's going to shine even prettier in the sun!
I’m a senior anarchist (65+). Seeing the glorious variety of interesting and beautiful people you used as examples was a huge treat! I’ m tired of being treated like a nice little old lady- I identify as a dancer, artist, bog witch, active , curious human. Thanks for the inspiration, and support. I have gotten lazy, because I don’t know what to do with this aging , unwell, restless body. But now I am re-inspired. Very best to you and all those amazingly wonderful models. Now I gotta go dig out RA one scarves and hand made funky stuff I used to wear all the time. See you all on the sidewalk.
So many channels I watch have done this theme but I think you did the best job of explaining your choices and giving visual examples. Bonus points for the examples being people of all colors, shapes, sizes, genders and abilities. I think so often people think stylish = skinny and classically pretty when everyone is beautiful in their own way and capable of being stylish.
The whole "is this person stylish or are they just skinny?" rewired my brain and how I looked at fashion for the better, both in regards to kindness to myself and others. Anyone can be stylish!
on the topic of color: my favorite thing to do is find a less prominent color in a patterned piece and wear that color with the patterned piece. makes it more fun than pairing a mostly blue floral with a blue/white/black top. finding that tiny hint of yellow looks more creative imo
Quilters do that, they look at the colored dots on the edge of the fabric (selvage) and pull colors and hues that go with the main focus fabric. Certain colors and hues can change how everything looks
Thank you so so so so so much for including a huge range of sizes. Im always thinking of that whole "is it stylish or is she just skinny?" question and all of the people you included are straight up gorgeous.
I LOVE that the photo references you put in your videos show a diverse range of people. It’s so refreshing to see a multifaceted range of examples as stylish
i'm only a minute and a half in but have to stop to sing your mf praises bc it is SO REFRESHING AND VALIDATING seeing your inspo/example pics be genuinely diverse !!! that's so rare but means the absolute world to me, THANK YOU SO MUCH AHHHHH
I agree with all of these and would also add: - mixed metals - doing something different/notable with gender presentation - a confident walk/pose that makes the outfit go twice as hard ✨️ - I am a sucker for an uncommon band tee
@@RichielaurensIIIYou're not alone; as someone who loves fashion, even after 2-3 years of continuously seeing it, I just think it cheapens a look soooo much 😅🤭💀
I don’t know if it was intentional, but you match your background so much. Your hair and lips with the orange art and books. Your shirt with the other art and blue book. Your cardigan with the furniture to the left. All the colors are very complimentary. It’s really lovely. Bright and happy.
I’m 69 and so tired of seeing “quiet” luxury style. (Why be quiet at ANY age?) So your take on style is very refreshing! It’s interesting, artistic, fun and unique. Thank you! (Also, I admire how articulate you are.)
Omg I'm so tired of the 'this is how to look elegant if you're over 60' and I'm like are you kidding me??? I'm 64 and still wear hippyish clothes, I walk in bare feet but I also have a number of leather boots in many colours including lime green and yellow and pink and .... I also have a number of vintage stuff.
I'm so glad that showing socks is a cool thing now. I remember that in the (late?) 2010s everybody was wearing very tiny "hidden" socks, so their ankles would be naked. And they would wear socks like that during winter, so I'd ask myself "aren't they cold?". I would usually wear socks that were the same colour of my shoes or pants, so they weren't noticeable, but people would still look at my socks weirdly. Now I love showing my socks and hopefully I won't stop wearing them like that. But the trend will probably go back around and people will be wearing naked ankles in the future again.
One of the guys in band would always wear funky socks to concerts. All black, royal blue ties for the guys, royal blue scarves or belts for the ladies. It was fun to see his socks
@@percaelumvolo I can’t wear ankle socks in boots and hate the feeling of wearing shoes without socks. I can’t imagine wearing those barely there socks
I got bullied so badly for my visible colorful socks back in the 2010s. I still can't bring myself to like them, all the bullying made me hate visible funky socks.
I love seeing people incorporate some styling element of their cultural dress in more everyday looks (I've been doing this more lately and it's so much fun!) - especially because often these can be pieces of jewellery or other accessories that have been gifted from family members or passed down to you, so it feels very personal. In general, I also really enjoy seeing indicators of someone's interests in their fit - like a keychain with a handmade plush, or a pin badge from a zine fair. When I'm out and about, what amazes me the most is seeing someone walk by who has really committed to whichever style they enjoy; seeing someone clearly putting in that effort and having that confidence always inspires me to wear whatever I want to too.
I’ve been mostly thrifting for over a decade but have been feeling uninspired lately. I’m 32 and have been overwhelmed by the fashion cycles and clothes that don’t work for me. I honestly love your videos! Your explanations and style philosophy resonates with me more than any other fashion/thrift lover on youtube. I love timeless stuff and lean a little more 90s but not in the over stylized modern take. You seriously have helped elevate my choices and hone in on my creativity. It’s fun again :) So, thank you!
I *MUST* mention how deeply pleased I am to see a content creator who cares about representation across the board in the fashion space. I can't tell you how often I click on videos like this and all the pictures are essentially of the same person: white, slender, conventionally attractive. I just loved seeing the variety in this video because we all belong in the fashion space and that's the beauty of it! Thank you 😊!
I like how in the photos you showed lots of diversity. It shows that what you’re implying is the fashion not who’s wearing it. I LOVE that. You showed people with larger body’s or slimmer bodies, brown skin or fair skin, different hair types, and face shapes. I love that sm, thank you.
My opinions on things that make you instantly stylish (all just some personal tastes I have that are a bit specific sometimes haha) -Hair! I agree that going off the default style is so stylish ~ it's almost 20% of the outfit -Tailored Clothes - not all outfits necessarily need to be fitted but clothes that fit your body specifically look so stylish and intentional -A reoccuring color detail in the outfit - a type of color that appears in the pattern that matches with your other smaller items like accessories I live for it -Dramatic sleeves - I am so in love with marie sleeves, puff sleeves and bishop sleeves especially when the sleeve cuff fits so perfectly at your wrist it's so *chefs kiss* -Monochrome outfit but is varied in textures, textiles and forms -When the shirt hits perfectly at the waistband of the jeans/pants - wearing clothing/fashion unique to your culture and country (i say as a resident in a formerly colonized country it's so easy to get swept in Western trends to lose the value of your local fashion culture) -Non-polyester fabrics especially quality natural fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, silk etc -Having perfected that one uniform/go-to outfit ~ it's not outfit repeat it's your own skin already - Wearing clothes that you've own since forever like there's a reason it stuck so long it's a part of you already and lastly is being *intentional* . Even if it's not my personal taste I always respect and appreciate other people's styling choices when it's apparent that they're intentional and have put thought and effort behind it
you should do a video playing around with styling niche aesthetics! Solarpunk, midwest emo, lovecore, fairy grunge... just have a good time scrolling aesthetics wiki and seeing what comes of it!
I definitely enjoy these videos but the concept is pretty silly to me because it's like, if you use this element well in a well-put-together, stylish outfit, you'll look stylish. Like, layering doesn't make you instantly stylish, layering WELL does. I've seen the same thing in all the versions of this concept I've seen. It's not like a shortcut that can make anyone look stylish, it's more like symptoms/signs that a person has personal style and knows how to put together a cool outfit.
I like worn in clothes too. I even love to patch my clothes as they get worn and get holes. I recently took a sweater that belonged to my boyfriend who passed away in May. That was unravelling on the sleeves and I added some crochet leaves and flowers to the cuffs after I'd fixed them. Now I love it! I'm a big advocate for DIY!
Honestly, just wearing what you feel comfortable in makes people look stylish. Having real confidence as well as matching your personality well is better than any outfit by itself, even if your style ends up being "basic".
kind of playing off of the hair styling, adornment, and the alt fashion aspects: dyed hair and especially tattoos!! I’m probably biased because I have a couple tattoos and want at least two more, but I think permanently adorning your body with art is the coolest thing in the world. I love playing with transparency and layering in my outfits mostly because I want to show off my tattoos!
Nails!! Nails to me are a fun extension of your style - they get to be little finger accessories, and there’s so many ways to jazz them up with different length, cuts, colors, finishes and different details! You can have them be a sleek extension of your fit or be a statement piece / a piece of art alltogether! To me, people who take time to do their nails instantly look more put together!
I think customising your clothes with stuff like embroidery, replacing boring buttons with fun ones, adding ribbons, or visible mending is huuuuge!! It can add a lot of personality too. I recently got a pair of pretty basic chunky white platform sneakers and I added rainbow beads to the shoelaces, which made them instantly more of a statement piece. I also patch up holes in clothes with colourful embroidery thread, embroider flowers and stars onto clothes, use fabric paint to add designs to stuff, etc etc etc. I find people who have clearly modified their own clothes to be really stylish, because it shows a level of thought beyond "I found this at the store and wore it with other stuff I found at the store". I wouldn't recommend buying stuff just to customise it unless you're confident in what you're doing, because if you mess it up and hate it you'll never wear it and that's just more textile waste.
As an extremely artistically untalented person, I admire people who could've just pick up a marker, draw things on random clothes/shoes and it magically looks good. Tell me your secret.
Texture and layering are the most elevating and eye catching things to me, I feel like a lot of clothes nowadays especially things made from polyester lack texture and rely too heavily on patterns
best example video!!! i love how you included style inspiration of people from different ages, ethnicity and body shapes instead of just showing typical model pictures! it really highlights that fashion and style depends on the person and anyone can look good in their own way! thank you❤❤❤
On the topic of unique/fun jewelry, I feel like brooches always level up an already funky outfit!! Liz I feel like you’ve discussed how fun brooches can be in a previous vid! Also overlaps with the vintage concept. Let’s bring back brooches!!!! 🩷
First thing that comes to mind for me is wearing any other bottom aside from basic blue jeans and leggings/sweatpants. Whether it’s shorts, trousers, skirts, or whatever, it instantly makes a person look like they put more time and effort into an outfit, in my opinion ;)
Funny because when I wear shorts it's when I put less effort lol. My "normal person fit for social events" outfit is blue jeans🤣 Shorts are for my "unbothered too hot to care gremlin" outfit
Anything that shows intention makes an outfit feel more polished, so I agree with most of the ones in the video, but I would add tucking and rolling hems as well. It's quick and easy and works with almost any outfit.
@@ruthalysse4096 It means tucking your shirt into your pants or skirt or maybe your pants into your socks. Also rolling up the bottom of your pants or your sleeves. Sometimes these are necessities for fit, but they also make your outfit more considered and intentional.
Bold or unexpected shoes speak style to me. It is why I invested in soooo many flipflops and sneakers. Now I started building my outfits starting with footwear for comfort/activity/weather, then outerwear for weather and flexibility, then tops and bottoms for surprise and to complement shoes and jackets. So many colors and textures available in sneakers. Suede, velvet, patent, stretch knots, colored soles, colored laces, sparkle, frays, zippers, slip-ons. And so many available with ARCH SUPPORTS and MEMORY FOAM which takes 10 YEARS OFF YOUR FACE when you're not in pain. 😜🥴😎❤️
Do you have recs for bold and comfy shoes? even chunky heels are hard on my feet at this point, but the only cool sneakers I know of are the wayyy too expensive hypebeast/designer brands
Loved the examples you added there. So true that when you do something intentionally, take time to think and add little elements, you become more stylish.
Liz, could you think about doing a video about how to dress when you're in a body-image slump? I'm struggling with this right now and would love to hear your body-neutral take on it! ❤ your stuff, thank you
I approach life from body neutrality, I pick things I love, i.e this is my favorite color, is a good texture, skirt go swishy swishy etc. It becomes less about how I look in it and more about this piece of clothing is fun/enjoyable on its own
I agree with most of your elements to enhance style, especially layering. I have a section of my closet for what I call third layers like vests, sweaters and sheer overblouses. One thing I find stylish is the use of gloves, a rarity these days.
things! that! look! used!!! my five year old scuffed worn in doc martens are one of my wardrobe staples bc docs go with everything obviously but also i love talking about how they got scuffed/all the places i've worn them! i also think diy alterations/additions are instant cool points. it kinda goes with the mixing aesthetics thing imo: what you choose to add and how you do it can say so much about who you are as a person. loved the inspo pics for this one in particular!
Love this so much! i’m a ‘hat girl’ and often get comments. I think my favourite line is “clothes that look like they’ve seen things, like they have LORE” ~ I adore this.
Same as you, unique hairstyles/haircut and alt clothes are instantly stylish to me. Another one is combining traditional pieces and modern pieces. It looks unique and intentional. Instantly stylish.
To me I think a big one is fun pants. It seems like the easiest outfit formulas involve basic pants and interesting tops, or even fun skirts, but it's pretty uncommon to see patterned pants or even pants in a bold color. It's an instant statement, and while I'm sure it's possible to do badly, it's not hard to make it a fun and interesting outfit.
as someone who wears mostly decora fashion this video resonated with me sooo much because most of these are aspects of my fashion style! decora is less about the clothes and more about DECORA-ating yourself so i definitely love intricacy and accessories and all that fun stuff! even if it's not decora, someone who adds colour- or theme-coordinated accessories to their outfit is just so stylish. also a lot of decora people have insane levels of colour coordination - idk how they do it tbh, it's still something i'm learning as i'm relatively new to the style. ok i have no clue if my jumbled mess of a comment makes any sense but tl;dr i love intricacy and colour coordination and pretty much everything you mentioned in this video! it's interesting how despite our styles being so different i can find commonalities within fashion ideas; i guess it goes to show that this video makes for a versatile one!
I seldom comment on videos on YT but you can tell how much time, effort, thought, and planning it took to create this video and it wasn't just content to upload but content with intention! I love it and subscribed because of it! So fire
You're very good at dissecting outfits and explaining why they work. I regocnize a look that I like, but I couldn't pin point what it is that makes it so stylish, to recreate it myself. So thanks for this!
Although I tend to appreciate different styles than shown here for the most part, your video is just so lovely and inspiring that I cannot argue! Thank you for sharing
I like these tips! Would you ever do a video on how to style shoes/socks specifically with outfits? Those are the hardest for me so I do tend to stick to white no show socks and sneakers or a slip on.
this is the first one of these videos that I 100% agree with, hot takes! Only problem I have is with sunglasses cause prescription sunglasses are so expensive and never look that good :')
@@valeriewittchen1646 zenni has this feature where you can record your face & they'll plop the glasses on, and it's like 3d so you can see the frames with multiple angles, if that helps!
Stumbled on your page, so awesome! I can tell you are intentionally being inclusive to all people based on the models you share in this video. It is so exciting to see someone in fashion working hard to do this! Subscribed!
I don’t usually watch these types of videos bc I tend to take other people’s style advice with a grain of salt (not trying to be rude, but I know what I like, so I don’t really need anyone else’s opinion). That said, I still watched this bc I trust Liz Beepworld. I would balance this with that advice you shared from Hannah Louise Poston about including practicality in your style. Maybe sometimes you can step out with a chic shoe or ornate jewelry, but don’t inconvenience yourself or make existence miserable for the sake of “looking stylish.” Being comfortable and confident are the biggest signs of stylishness imo. If I’m just seeing someone randomly and will probably never see them again, I think they are stylish is there is a part of their outfit that is a bit out of the ordinary or unexpected. Seeing something different is fun! (But also don’t make being different your biggest goal; if there are 7 billion people on the planet, just accept that we can all be a little bit alike.) If I’m seeing a friend who I’ve noticed over time has a particular style, I like that! I have a friend who wears a lot of paisley, likes layering her tops (she has fun over-shirts and jackets), and she incorporates Japanese elements into her style bc she is half Japanese. She also has staple jewelry pieces she wears like every day. It’s awesome, and she always looks stylish bc it’s her.
I agree with the practicality aspect from Hanna Louise Poston! And personally, for me I feel there is a fine line between looking stylish and looking like you're "trying too hard". But - that said, this video is gold and I'm taking notes, so many good ideas I want to try out with my own clothes!
I have to give you huge props for your example images. There was so much diversity and representation. I’m sure it but took a long time to find them all, but your intention to make us all feel welcome really came through. ❤
This is such a beautiful video, you talk full of genuine appriciation for all the people's individual styles, you don't promote over-consumption and you really make that point that style and beauty has nothing to do with body shape
As someone who is tragically unstylish I loveeee this video. I definitely won’t venture away from my tried and true blue jeans and t-shirt combo but I thoroughly enjoy seeing people expressing themselves so beautifully.
My usual style is really colorful and varied in shapes and textures mostly but I’m starting an office job with strict dress codes, pantsuits and blazers and all. Could you do a video about styling boring office outfits plsss 🥺🥺
Upgrade a boring blouse with stylish buttons. Maybe you could even integrate them into your jewellery or shoe laces if you buy some extra. And a tiny but colourful bracelet that is partly hidden under your sleeve is a nice touch as well. If you feel it doesn't fit the setting you could easily remove it and keep it in your pocket or handbag.
Feeling VERY seen by the shaped clothing! I LOVE big skirts. (Sometimes pinterest suggests me tradwife/mormon stuff and i go UH OH) but really my favorite thing about them is being able to decide what my body looks like to other ppl. If I wear a long skirt with a funky belt and a long cardigan/vest/shrug of some sort, I feel like Ive owned it. I have decided the shape that I'm going to be seen as! Victory! I'm also with you on interesting color combos. My recent thing has been playing with brightly colored tights - colors like turquoise, lilac, salmon, violet. Heck, even white tights don't get as much love as they should, I think! Little girls get put in white tights and then somewhere in there you make the switch to black tights and that's it, roll credits! I will never forget the first time I did this. I wore a black/white striped t-shirt dress with MAGENTA tights and went over to a friend's house. The person who answered the door VISIBLY immediately dropped his eyes to the tights like O.O and I am still riding that high. Other things I find stylish are a well matched watch! NOT one of the smart watches. Like, something with a band that coordinates with your color palette. Hand embroidered accents on outfits are also super stylish to me.
I agreed with every single one of these - although on the shoes, I think it depends on what you are wearing. A fancier dress looks waaay cooler with a pair of sneakers, than with nice shoes (IMO). But casual outfits definitely get a level up from nicer shoes. It's that high-low juxtaposition.
I love the examples you show because they have such variety. Watching your videos makes me instantly want to go thrifting but I already have so much stuff I just need to spend a few days playing in my wardrobe and reorganizing. I seen you mention socks in another video and I've always hated socks. I am not a sock girly, but now I feel like that's just what I need to subtly take my style to the next level. Thanks for sharing your insights and perspectives on fashion with us! Edit: seeing all the comments of everyone singing your praises and feel a sense of bonding and community. I love it. So happy I subscribed ❤
I do a lot of these things and never thought of them as "stylish", your soft approach and nice voice really made me feel good about the way I choose to dress everyday. Also, I love how you stress that intention is the key to everything! Style can be hard, but being present and connecting to what makes you feel nice is amazing.
Gosh I love it so much that you include such a variety of people in terms of looks and body types. I myself am on the chubby side and often struggle with fashion about the lack of representation. Thanks! ❤❤❤
This is making me go 😫😭 because i agree so much and that’s why i always find myself struggling! I cant wear sunglasses, layers are almost impossible in my climate, i cant afford fancy haircuts and styling, i find so many textures and shapes unbearably uncomfortable and impractical (puffy sleeves, velvet, silk, etc) even though i love them on others… it’s so hard to feel stylish when your hair is just there and your skin reacts badly to almost every fabric lol. color and jewelry are trying their darnest tho, we stay making due.
I relate!! Something that can helps sometimes is finding a fabric that you like and making it your base layer, also if it’s too hot to do too many layers you could try a light mesh top or other lightweight fabrics? :)) and playing around with fun hairstyles that you can do yourself (like space buns or braids etc.) can really help a look feel more stylish!! Also fun socks!! I love a fun/intentional sock choice
This was so good! I'm trying to become more comfortable wearing things that are not 100 % boring and that might stand out a bit, and this was great inspiration. The times I've got compliments for my style are one of the times that I've been the most unsure and self-conscious of what I'm wearing.
New to your channel and I'm loving it, thank you. I love that you share a variety of people and looks-could you consider adding older people to your photo choices if you happen to find them in your research? Thanks again!
Varied textures is something I always wish to implement more in my style, because they make any outift much more interesting. And I have to try nuanced colour! I sometimes find my own tendency for matchy-matchy coloured outfits a little boring. Would you maybe consider making a styling segment focusing on nuanced colour in one of your videos?
this video is such a confidence boost because I already do the vast majority of these things 😭 saving it as a reminder to myself when my inspiration dwindles 😂
Here's my list of things I beleive make a person instantly stylish: -Having a style that is completely "you", one that doesnt fall into a particular trend or aestetic but is a mix of different things you personally love - Not strictly following trends/ styling "outdated" items- I really have massive respect for people who don't care what's not in style anymore and continue to wear said "outdated" items. Even bigger respect if the item is styled in a really cool way - Having a signature style of an item you wear often, be it puff sleeve tops, babydoll dresses, chunky shoes... aything that is a key element of your style and you wear in many of your outfits - Absolutely agree with you on any head accessories, they are the cherry on top - Similarly to head accessories, any interesting jewelry. Or even basic jewelry that is strategically styled - Having a perfectly color coordinated outfit, especially if said outfits includes more than 3 colors and everything is still perfectly matched - Similarly, wearing multiple bright (or generally non-neutral) colors together (but like you said with an intentional patellte in mind, not randomly thrown together). I'm lowkey jealous of people who can pull off more than one really saturated tone in an outfit. - Cool makeup, especially when people experiment with colors and/or shapes - Coats- I think any type of coat makes an outfit cooler - Layering in general- so many possibilities to elevate a look through layers, it always looks great - Similarly to your vintage point, adding elements from historical fahsion to your outfit, especially things we don't wear anymore. I especially love it when someone is inspired by styles centuries ago - Any neck accessory - collars, scarves, ties, ribbons... Edit: Also absolutely agree with your points
Thank you so much for including ALL kinds of people for your pictures!! I love the way you described all of these pieces in an artistic way (as a traditional artist). I have discovered I AM stylish haha
I wanted to add for anyone shopping secondhand for shoes specifically, try them on! Vintage shoes or shoes that haven’t been worn in ages can develop dry rot and literally crumble under your feet and then you’re gonna be walking around barefoot unless you carry extra shoes. ☹️ But I love love love everything about this video! So much diversity and I love seeing such a range of styles and just people expressing themselves through wearable art!
you’ve articulated so many things here that i could never quite put my finger on- definitely will be referring back to this video for future inspiration.
Thanks for this video! I am a big fan of browns, classy blacks, and sometimes greys. However, I also love reds, greens, and yellows. I think that combining those bright colors with neutral tones can make an outfit more fun!

@@BC-np8cb oh huh i haven't heard that in terms of comfort, just like the opposite of "trying too hard"
For me, stylish is the intentionality. It's wearing whatever you think looks good, regardless of what is considered appropriate/trendy and sticking to it. Because the default is boring. Like, for example, why is sparkly clothing considered party/evening wear? It's going to shine even prettier in the sun!
HARD agree on this one
Right! I also think it has a lot to do with confidence ang happy/great attitude
i have gliterry socks i was gifted for christmas and let me tell you - they look awesome in spring sun!
hell yeah
Isn't glittery stuff would hurt people's eyes because it's too bright and it reflects light?
I loved every word of this. Go tear it up out there!
can't wait to encounter you in the wild
Love it! You 100% sound like #rolemodelmaterial.
I mean, Mother Anarchy does love ALL her children
Yikes
I ADORE the diversity of your examples you show, it’s so refreshing
So many channels I watch have done this theme but I think you did the best job of explaining your choices and giving visual examples. Bonus points for the examples being people of all colors, shapes, sizes, genders and abilities. I think so often people think stylish = skinny and classically pretty when everyone is beautiful in their own way and capable of being stylish.
The whole "is this person stylish or are they just skinny?" rewired my brain and how I looked at fashion for the better, both in regards to kindness to myself and others. Anyone can be stylish!
So so true! I completely agree with everything you said
on the topic of color: my favorite thing to do is find a less prominent color in a patterned piece and wear that color with the patterned piece. makes it more fun than pairing a mostly blue floral with a blue/white/black top. finding that tiny hint of yellow looks more creative imo
Agreed❤
Quilters do that, they look at the colored dots on the edge of the fabric (selvage) and pull colors and hues that go with the main focus fabric. Certain colors and hues can change how everything looks
LOVE doing this!
Ah, yes, this is one of my favorite things, too!!
i love doing that! esp bc it will “go” since you’re pulling a color from the pattern itself but it’s also unexpected in a way
Thank you so so so so so much for including a huge range of sizes. Im always thinking of that whole "is it stylish or is she just skinny?" question and all of the people you included are straight up gorgeous.
fr!!! i hate seeing plus size (or even people who arent an xs or s) excluded because they arent “fashionable enough”
anything handmade or with visible repairs! I'm obsessed with and, honestly, great conversation starters.
I agree with all of these and would also add:
- mixed metals
- doing something different/notable with gender presentation
- a confident walk/pose that makes the outfit go twice as hard ✨️
- I am a sucker for an uncommon band tee
yyesssss
Ugh I love mixed metals
I cannot with mixed metals. Idk why it just doesn’t look good to me.
The picture of the girl on the right at 1:24 is me! ♡
Haha...sweet❤😊
girl you're pretty
I'm so glad that showing socks is a cool thing now. I remember that in the (late?) 2010s everybody was wearing very tiny "hidden" socks, so their ankles would be naked. And they would wear socks like that during winter, so I'd ask myself "aren't they cold?". I would usually wear socks that were the same colour of my shoes or pants, so they weren't noticeable, but people would still look at my socks weirdly. Now I love showing my socks and hopefully I won't stop wearing them like that. But the trend will probably go back around and people will be wearing naked ankles in the future again.
omg the era of frozen ankles was a tough one lol, I'm also so glad it's over and hope it stays that way!
One of the guys in band would always wear funky socks to concerts. All black, royal blue ties for the guys, royal blue scarves or belts for the ladies. It was fun to see his socks
plus those "hidden" socks always fall down in my shoes! so annoying
Really resonating with the things-that-look-used thing, it gives your outfits soo much more character!!
I loveeee taking a simple outfit and slathering it in little details, it's so fun and makes me feel so cute
love this approach!!!

Jewelry is INCREDIBLY stylish. It elevates an outfit from being basic to glamorous. ✨💎✨
I like how in the photos you showed lots of diversity. It shows that what you’re implying is the fashion not who’s wearing it. I LOVE that. You showed people with larger body’s or slimmer bodies, brown skin or fair skin, different hair types, and face shapes. I love that sm, thank you.
My opinions on things that make you instantly stylish (all just some personal tastes I have that are a bit specific sometimes haha)
-Hair! I agree that going off the default style is so stylish ~ it's almost 20% of the outfit
-Tailored Clothes - not all outfits necessarily need to be fitted but clothes that fit your body specifically look so stylish and intentional
-A reoccuring color detail in the outfit - a type of color that appears in the pattern that matches with your other smaller items like accessories I live for it
-Dramatic sleeves - I am so in love with marie sleeves, puff sleeves and bishop sleeves especially when the sleeve cuff fits so perfectly at your wrist it's so *chefs kiss*
-Monochrome outfit but is varied in textures, textiles and forms
-When the shirt hits perfectly at the waistband of the jeans/pants
- wearing clothing/fashion unique to your culture and country (i say as a resident in a formerly colonized country it's so easy to get swept in Western trends to lose the value of your local fashion culture)
-Non-polyester fabrics especially quality natural fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, silk etc
-Having perfected that one uniform/go-to outfit ~ it's not outfit repeat it's your own skin already
- Wearing clothes that you've own since forever like there's a reason it stuck so long it's a part of you already
and lastly is being *intentional* . Even if it's not my personal taste I always respect and appreciate other people's styling choices when it's apparent that they're intentional and have put thought and effort behind it
This list is great.
you should do a video playing around with styling niche aesthetics!
oh I am so on board with the brooch agenda🩷🩷🩷
Thank you so much for the diversity in these pictures!!! As a fat woman I appreciate you sooooo so much. Representation is key…
Love you content ❤❤❤❤
First thing that comes to mind for me is wearing any other bottom aside from basic blue jeans and leggings/sweatpants. Whether it’s shorts, trousers, skirts, or whatever, it instantly makes a person look like they put more time and effort into an outfit, in my opinion ;)
Funny because when I wear shorts it's when I put less effort lol. My "normal person fit for social events" outfit is blue jeans🤣
Shorts are for my "unbothered too hot to care gremlin" outfit
inclusivity and diversity in the pics you chose were immaculate! Instant follow.
Anything that shows intention makes an outfit feel more polished, so I agree with most of the ones in the video, but I would add tucking and rolling hems as well. It's quick and easy and works with almost any outfit.
What does “tucking and rolling hems” mean?
Dude socks are the most underrated accessory, like my outfit could be so boring but if I add cool socks I’m 30% more confident
SO refreshing to see the reference outfits with such a variety of representation!!! Thank you, thank you.
Love this so much! i’m a ‘hat girl’ and often get comments. I think my favourite line is “clothes that look like they’ve seen things, like they have LORE” ~ I adore this.
I love the care you put into your example pictures so soooooo much!
Once again inspired to play around with my wardrobe
Idk if that was your intention or not,but all these tips apply to men's fashion as well, and I loved every single one of them, well doneee
It's an instant statement, and while I'm sure it's possible to do badly, it's not hard to make it a fun and interesting outfit.
wearing something that looks handmade/DIY/visibly mended is also very stylish to me! but absolutely agree with everything you mentioned!
as someone who wears mostly decora fashion this video resonated with me sooo much because most of these are aspects of my fashion style! decora is less about the clothes and more about DECORA-ating yourself so i definitely love intricacy and accessories and all that fun stuff! even if it's not decora, someone who adds colour- or theme-coordinated accessories to their outfit is just so stylish. also a lot of decora people have insane levels of colour coordination - idk how they do it tbh, it's still something i'm learning as i'm relatively new to the style.
ok i have no clue if my jumbled mess of a comment makes any sense but tl;dr i love intricacy and colour coordination and pretty much everything you mentioned in this video! it's interesting how despite our styles being so different i can find commonalities within fashion ideas; i guess it goes to show that this video makes for a versatile one!
I’m in my 50s and your channel is really helping me up my style game!! These tips are great for ALL ages. ❤

2:57 seeing the photo of one of the buildings in my hometown brought me joy. Sending love from Odesa❤
(But also don’t make being different your biggest goal; if there are 7 billion people on the planet, just accept that we can all be a little bit alike.)
If I’m seeing a friend who I’ve noticed over time has a particular style, I like that!
My favorite headgear . . . WIGS! 😂
This is such a beautiful video, you talk full of genuine appriciation for all the people's individual styles, you don't promote over-consumption and you really make that point that style and beauty has nothing to do with body shape
Heavy on the vintage fashion 💯
I LOVE her advice on letting your clothes reshape you if you want to. Wow. That opens up so much really.
loved the variety of people in example images. subscribed just for that.
Excellent video as always! I really appreciate the inclusivity in your reference pics, especially cool outfits on disabled people.
really greatly appreciated the diversity of people in the given example images. plus some great things to look out for/think about when dressing! 😊❤️
I do a lot of these things and never thought of them as "stylish", your soft approach and nice voice really made me feel good about the way I choose to dress everyday. Also, I love how you stress that intention is the key to everything! Style can be hard, but being present and connecting to what makes you feel nice is amazing.
dude, mad kudos to you for the diversity in representation you included in your examples
so refreshing to see !
And shoes!
This was so good! I'm trying to become more comfortable wearing things that are not 100 % boring and that might stand out a bit, and this was great inspiration. The times I've got compliments for my style are one of the times that I've been the most unsure and self-conscious of what I'm wearing.
A liz video is exactly what I needed this Tuesday morning
New to your channel and I'm loving it, thank you. I love that you share a variety of people and looks-could you consider adding older people to your photo choices if you happen to find them in your research? Thanks again!
Varied textures is something I always wish to implement more in my style, because they make any outift much more interesting. And I have to try nuanced colour! I sometimes find my own tendency for matchy-matchy coloured outfits a little boring. Would you maybe consider making a styling segment focusing on nuanced colour in one of your videos?
yes, totally!! It's definitely still something I'm getting the hang of myself but I'd love to explore that topic more
One I'd add is thoughtful mixing of patterns. I've been trying out two different types of stripes recently and really been loving it
this video is such a confidence boost because I already do the vast majority of these things 😭 saving it as a reminder to myself when my inspiration dwindles 😂
I love your attitude, observations, and creativity. Thank you❤
Here's my list of things I beleive make a person instantly stylish:
-Having a style that is completely "you", one that doesnt fall into a particular trend or aestetic but is a mix of different things you personally love
- Not strictly following trends/ styling "outdated" items- I really have massive respect for people who don't care what's not in style anymore and continue to wear said "outdated" items. Even bigger respect if the item is styled in a really cool way
- Having a signature style of an item you wear often, be it puff sleeve tops, babydoll dresses, chunky shoes... aything that is a key element of your style and you wear in many of your outfits
- Absolutely agree with you on any head accessories, they are the cherry on top
- Similarly to head accessories, any interesting jewelry. Or even basic jewelry that is strategically styled
- Having a perfectly color coordinated outfit, especially if said outfits includes more than 3 colors and everything is still perfectly matched
- Similarly, wearing multiple bright (or generally non-neutral) colors together (but like you said with an intentional patellte in mind, not randomly thrown together). I'm lowkey jealous of people who can pull off more than one really saturated tone in an outfit.
- Cool makeup, especially when people experiment with colors and/or shapes
- Coats- I think any type of coat makes an outfit cooler
- Layering in general- so many possibilities to elevate a look through layers, it always looks great
- Similarly to your vintage point, adding elements from historical fahsion to your outfit, especially things we don't wear anymore. I especially love it when someone is inspired by styles centuries ago
- Any neck accessory - collars, scarves, ties, ribbons...
Edit: Also absolutely agree with your points
Multiple saturated colors is a goal i'm working towards right now! It's hard but it's SO COOL when someone can pull it off!
i love channels like yours that include women that look like me it makes me actually feel seen and included , great work sis , instant sub
Α bit of random but THE LITTLE HAMTARO on your mic is soooo cute😭❤️
you’ve articulated so many things here that i could never quite put my finger on- definitely will be referring back to this video for future inspiration.
I like how you combine people with different shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds, and fashion viewpoints. Very refreshing and casual. Thanks! Xo
Thanks for this video! I am a big fan of browns, classy blacks, and sometimes greys. However, I also love reds, greens, and yellows. I think that combining those bright colors with neutral tones can make an outfit more fun!
Yes! The all new neutrals that everyone says are key to a capsule look soulless to me and even more so when they are brand new. Love these tips.
