Not the only one! I fuckin’ love that song. The chorus is very powerful for me, and the verses are beautiful. The lyrics also tear me up, thinking about my own heartbreak and people I’ve lost and memories from long ago when I was a child. I personally prefer it over Stockholm Syndrome.

This is how I would rank their albums as well. Map of the Problematique however, I just love this song and feel it's one of the standouts on the album for the step-sequenced guitar riff. It definitely takes a lot of influence from Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.

It just doesnt rank as high as the better ablums ahead of it. Muscle museum, showbiz, uni and sober are bangers. Was a strong first album by any standard 😊

Hullabaloo - Pure unmarketable bangers 4. Absolution - Best songs 5. Black Holes - Greatest replay value 6. Resistance - Most musically ambitious 7. 2nd Law - Most technically impressive 8. Drones - Best riffs 9. Simulation Theory - Favourite overall sound 10. Will of The People - Most fun I think Absolution has the most top tier songs, but I listen to Black Holes and Revelations much more. I admire 2nd Law, but have more fun with Will of the People. I love Simulation Theory's overall vibe, but the individual songs are a bit average. Meanwhile, I really like the songs on Drones, but the album's overall sound isn't memorable.
I often cite 2nd Law and Resistance as my top 2 studio muse albums, and Origin and Abso as my top 2 live muse albums, cause I find the production in studio really bring those down for me, but because we've heard them live we know how fantastic those songs can be Also the last 5 songs of WOTP are top top tier material and it's only the first half that brings it down
Even then, Compliance and Won't Stand Down are amazing songs imo, and the other three are still really decent. But the run of Halloween, KOBK, Verona, Euphoria, and WAFF is my favourite in any Muse album since the first 6 songs of Origin

Fun fact about WOTP - it's actually a greatest hits album - they were told to make a greatest hits, but only want to go that when they actually finish, so they made original songs in the style of previous albums, so if you listen to WOTP with that in mind, you will hear it as a "greatest hits" esque album, without being a greatest hits album

I absolutely LOVE everything Muse puts out there, from Showbiz to WOTP, I love it all. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea Based on your reaction to the title track, I know for certain that you would adore this album. The Microphones - The Glow Pt.2 Very Similar to Aeroplane in terms of the instrumentation and production, but it still has a lot of unique elements, and a very different vibe. It's in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There If there's one album I think could be your new favorite, then it would be this one. It has basically everything you love the most about music in one beautiful cohesive experience. It's a very new album (It only released last year), but it's already a classic in many people's eyes. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless This album has a lot of super atmospheric and trippy production, but it also has a lot of amazing choruses and riffs throughout. Swans - To Be Kind I've heard you talk about how much you like songs that build into climactic crescendos, well this album takes that idea to a borderline challenging degree. I've hide times where my hearing is messed up for a good hour after listening to this album, because of how intense it gets.
Map of Your Head is my favorite song on Hullabaloo; Filip is one of my favorites on Showbiz; and Falling Away with You is one of my favorites on Absolution, though I don't care for its chorus.

Talking about the other albums, BHAR is above Absolution mostly because a personal thing, the first time i've ever heard muse was Supermassive Black Hole, and map of the problematique was for years my favourite song of all time, until Citizen Erased appeard. That takes me to the other point, that OOS is easily the best album that muse has ever released, is brilliant in every way, just an amazing piece of art and music. I really like all muse albums, the only one that truly i don't enjoy is Simulation Theory. Sorry for the bad english, not my main language :(

Can't rank them. First reason: I got into Muse when I was 16. I grew up with them since shortly before they released Origin. So, I was aware of every release from then on and I dug them heavily. Only album I couldn't get warm with vacation than was The 2nd Law, but a few months ago I thought, this can't be, listened to it again, and guess what ... it was like having two Muse albums to fall in love with in 2022. ❤ Second reason is their development. To me, there are lengths on their first albums, between great songs, of course. But they were constantly developing and changing the songs for the better live. So, I name the albums in order they were released and name my highlights. 1. Showbiz: Unintended was the first song I've ever known by Muse. Love that song. And Sober, too, it has a brain vein in its live lyrics (can be heard on Eurockeennes 2000) 2. Origin of Symmetry: First seen them live and Matt changing from guitar to piano in Citizen Erased was so mindblowing. Citizen Erased is my fav, though I discovered that slightly changed piano line shortly before the chorus in the live version of Space Dementia and fell heavily for it, too. (Listen to it! Pinkpop 2004, for example. Aaaaw! ❤) 3. Absolution: Butterflies and Hurricanes is THE BEST! Had only Muse to tell me things like this when I was young. 4. BHaR: There are songs on it I grasp completely and fall in love with now, Hoodoo ... Wow! ❤ 5. The Resistance: Eura-SIA! And the Symphony, I agree that I love the third part best. If you want to give Guiding Light another chance, play a live version. 6. The 2nd Law: Member of the little crowd that loves Big Freeze ... 7. Drones: ... and Defector. Drones used to be my fav album before I decided I don't rank them anymore. 8. Simulation Theory: My beloved underdog, I love it. Get Up and Fight needed two rotations: First one to ask if Matt has gone entirely crazy. Second one to fall in love with it so badly I've played it too often and name Break it to Me as my current favourite. Deluxe version belongs to the album and Dig Down gospel acoustic is really great. Just discovered there is a brass version of Pressure. I can't handle it. Love them!!! 9. Will of the People: Some critic wrote about We are FF-ed that Matt hammers the chorus into your mind and then leaves and slams the door shut. Exactly. After all that was going on in the world I was and am so happy with the album. They nailed it. Love Ghosts as I lost friends during the pandemic, not because of Covid but because they went into weird directions politically. The lyrics on the album are genius and match with the music, Compliance being compliant in sound. Oh, favourite ... dunno, Liberation perhaps. Forgot Hullabaloo, Shine acoustic and Forced In are my favourites.
Your comment is so heart-warming! I also got into Muse when I was 16 yo, but it was a Resistance era. And their music is a Home for me ever since. There was a time when I didn't feel them (2nd law and Drones era, just didn't feel the emotion connection with the songs, although The Handler instantly got to my top 10) And I didn't like not liking them. Somehow it changed with Simulation Theory. I just loved listening the whole album from start to finish on my lunch break at work. The album sounded to me so lively and vibrant, couldn't get enough of it. At that period I revisited songs that I didn't like before and got a new perspective on them. I realised I don't want to be a fan of only the old stuff and rant about "only old Muse was good". I love them so much and I want that love to feel fresh, not retospective. And I was happy to fall so easily for WOTP. A lot of people really hate Compliance, but I just freakin love that tune, it gets me it the right mood. Maybe because it came at spring 2022 and this song along with WSD were actually some of the few things that kept me sane as I watched my country turning into an anti-utopian 1984-like failed state (I am from Russia). This song is so catchy and funky with some dark lyrcs. I loved to play it in my headphones and sing along as I was walking the streets with Z-graffity on walls and cars in my hometown... Other songs from the album also got me, KoBK is so cool and hard, Verona is so lovely and beautiful, WAFF is my ringtone now. It's so nice to just enjoy the music of your favourite band, old and good and not to rank everything

Black Holes and Revelations I got into Muse fairly late in the game... saw them live in Dubai Desert Rock touring the Black Holes album, that was my first album then Resistance came out right after that so maybe my perspective is different... I live the middle of their career the best as you can see 🙂
I had no idea the consensus was that Origin of Symmetry was their best album. Everyone I talk to say their favorite is Absolution. But those two and Black Holes and Revelations are easily their best albums. To me, Origin of Symmetry is a bit of a mixed bag - some of it is like their moody emo-ish stuff from earlier, and some of it hints at the direction they would go on the next two albums. Absolution is the most stylistically consistent album, with the clearest theme (although the bonus song Fury from the Japanese release is a terrible song IMHO). But my favorite is Black Holes and Revelations. It's the most diverse and experimental, but it still has some of the raw edge of their previous albums, that their later albums abandoned for a more pop-ish sheen. Plus, Invincible might be my favorite Muse song. I hated The Resistance when I first got it - I thought Muse completely lost their balls - and it took a long time for me to appreciate it (although I still think Uprising is one of their absolute worst songs, and I still slightly prefer The 2nd Law, despite Chris's songs). And I happen to love Falling Away with You (favorite song on the album, in fact) and, to a lesser extent, The Big Freeze. Drones is okay (aside from Psycho, which is garbage), but I rarely listen to anything after The 2nd Law nowadays (I haven't gotten Will of the People yet), and mostly stick to the big 3. And not an album, but the Dead Star / In Your World EP is fantastic.

I'd say my top 3 is fixed, but the rest depends what mode I'm in and how long in between listens. I did not include Hullabaloo as I don't listen to it a lot. OoS, absolution and BHaR really easily make up the top 3, the gap is not that huge between the top 3 but the gap between top 3 and top 4 is crazy imo lol

Simulation Theory and 2nd Law really give me goosebumps, i personally prefer them to Showbiz and The Resistance. Can really understand your choices though, and even my least favourite Muse album gets a 7/10.

Muse is great. Also, I feel like Will Of The People seems to be designed to be played on shuffle. I find the best way to relisten is to start with the title track and put everything else on shuffle, it keeps it fresh whilst not losing much as the album isn't coherent as it is.

I don't get the hate for Ghosts, it's definitely not a bad track. It's not Muse-esque by any stretch of the imagination I do agree, but it's still a very solid song.
I am definitely one of those small dedicated fans to Big Freeze.

Not the only one! I fuckin’ love that song. The chorus is very powerful for me, and the verses are beautiful. The lyrics also tear me up, thinking about my own heartbreak and people I’ve lost and memories from long ago when I was a child. I personally prefer it over Stockholm Syndrome.

This is how I would rank their albums as well. Map of the Problematique however, I just love this song and feel it's one of the standouts on the album for the step-sequenced guitar riff. It definitely takes a lot of influence from Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.

I definitely enjoy Showbiz more than the average person, but otherwise very similar to your list. Sober and Overdue are weak, but I actually think Fillip is great. I love that song. I also have an obsession with Falling Down, even though a lot of Muse fans seem to find that song boring or long.

I think Absolution has the most top tier songs, but I listen to Black Holes and Revelations much more. I admire 2nd Law, but have more fun with Will of the People. I love Simulation Theory's overall vibe, but the individual songs are a bit average. Meanwhile, I really like the songs on Drones, but the album's overall sound isn't memorable.

I often cite 2nd Law and Resistance as my top 2 studio muse albums, and Origin and Abso as my top 2 live muse albums, cause I find the production in studio really bring those down for me, but because we've heard them live we know how fantastic those songs can be
Also the last 5 songs of WOTP are top top tier material and it's only the first half that brings it down
Even then, Compliance and Won't Stand Down are amazing songs imo, and the other three are still really decent. But the run of Halloween, KOBK, Verona, Euphoria, and WAFF is my favourite in any Muse album since the first 6 songs of Origin

Thankyou, im not the only one that has 2nd in last place. Only song I particularly enjoy on that album is supremacy.
Fun fact about WOTP - it's actually a greatest hits album - they were told to make a greatest hits, but only want to go that when they actually finish, so they made original songs in the style of previous albums, so if you listen to WOTP with that in mind, you will hear it as a "greatest hits" esque album, without being a greatest hits album
I wonder that the record label asked them to do a best of then, a political band and with this state of the world, and the band having been quiet for a few years already. The label haven't got a clue about the band they are working with. 😂
I never thought I would be so different. I prefer much more the "newer stuff" Muse makes. And absolutely can't stand behind the "hate" on Simulation Theory a lot of people have.

When I see people giving their opinions of Muse, their albums and their songs, I tend to not even try to argue because I know how out of place I am. I absolutely LOVE everything Muse puts out there, from Showbiz to WOTP, I love it all. Almost all songs, for me, are 8's, 9's or 10's, with the albums that had more 6's for me being the ones that I least liked, and even with that I can't call them bad albums. Based on your reaction to the title track, I know for certain that you would adore this album.
The Microphones - The Glow Pt.2
Very Similar to Aeroplane in terms of the instrumentation and production, but it still has a lot of unique elements, and a very different vibe. It's in my top 5 favorite albums of all time.
Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
If there's one album I think could be your new favorite, then it would be this one. It has basically everything you love the most about music in one beautiful cohesive experience. It's a very new album (It only released last year), but it's already a classic in many people's eyes.
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
This album has a lot of super atmospheric and trippy production, but it also has a lot of amazing choruses and riffs throughout.
Swans - To Be Kind
I've heard you talk about how much you like songs that build into climactic crescendos, well this album takes that idea to a borderline challenging degree. I've hide times where my hearing is messed up for a good hour after listening to this album, because of how intense it gets.
Map of Your Head is my favorite song on Hullabaloo; Filip is one of my favorites on Showbiz; and Falling Away with You is one of my favorites on Absolution, though I don't care for its chorus.

WOTP is really high because WAFF, KOBK, WOSD and Verona are in my top 15 of muse songs, and KOBK is in the top 5, also other songs like Halloween i reaaally like them, i know it's a hot take, but idk, i just really enjoyed WOTP. Talking about the other albums, BHAR is above Absolution mostly because a personal thing, the first time i've ever heard muse was Supermassive Black Hole, and map of the problematique was for years my favourite song of all time, until Citizen Erased appeard. That takes me to the other point, that OOS is easily the best album that muse has ever released, is brilliant in every way, just an amazing piece of art and music. I really like all muse albums, the only one that truly i don't enjoy is Simulation Theory.

Hullabaloo above absolution and resistance is kind of crazy. You do you though man.
Can't rank them. First reason: I got into Muse when I was 16. I grew up with them since shortly before they released Origin. So, I was aware of every release from then on and I dug them heavily. Only album I couldn't get warm with vacation than was The 2nd Law, but a few months ago I thought, this can't be, listened to it again, and guess what ... it was like having two Muse albums to fall in love with in 2022. ❤
Second reason is their development. To me, there are lengths on their first albums, between great songs, of course. But they were constantly developing and changing the songs for the better live.
So, I name the albums in order they were released and name my highlights.
1. Showbiz: Unintended was the first song I've ever known by Muse. Love that song. And Sober, too, it has a brain vein in its live lyrics (can be heard on Eurockeennes 2000)
2. Origin of Symmetry: First seen them live and Matt changing from guitar to piano in Citizen Erased was so mindblowing. Citizen Erased is my fav, though I discovered that slightly changed piano line shortly before the chorus in the live version of Space Dementia and fell heavily for it, too. (Listen to it! Pinkpop 2004, for example. Aaaaw! ❤)
3. Absolution: Butterflies and Hurricanes is THE BEST! Had only Muse to tell me things like this when I was young.
4. BHaR: There are songs on it I grasp completely and fall in love with now, Hoodoo ... Wow! ❤
5. The Resistance: Eura-SIA! And the Symphony, I agree that I love the third part best. If you want to give Guiding Light another chance, play a live version.
6. The 2nd Law: Member of the little crowd that loves Big Freeze ...
7. Drones: ... and Defector. Drones used to be my fav album before I decided I don't rank them anymore.
8. Simulation Theory: My beloved underdog, I love it. Get Up and Fight needed two rotations: First one to ask if Matt has gone entirely crazy. Second one to fall in love with it so badly I've played it too often and name Break it to Me as my current favourite. Deluxe version belongs to the album and Dig Down gospel acoustic is really great. Just discovered there is a brass version of Pressure. I can't handle it. Love them!!!
9. Will of the People: Some critic wrote about We are FF-ed that Matt hammers the chorus into your mind and then leaves and slams the door shut. Exactly. After all that was going on in the world I was and am so happy with the album. They nailed it. Love Ghosts as I lost friends during the pandemic, not because of Covid but because they went into weird directions politically. The lyrics on the album are genius and match with the music, Compliance being compliant in sound. Oh, favourite ... dunno, Liberation perhaps.
Forgot Hullabaloo, Shine acoustic and Forced In are my favourites.
Your comment is so heart-warming! I also got into Muse when I was 16 yo, but it was a Resistance era. And their music is a Home for me ever since. There was a time when I didn't feel them (2nd law and Drones era, just didn't feel the emotion connection with the songs, although The Handler instantly got to my top 10) And I didn't like not liking them. Somehow it changed with Simulation Theory. I just loved listening the whole album from start to finish on my lunch break at work. The album sounded to me so lively and vibrant, couldn't get enough of it. At that period I revisited songs that I didn't like before and got a new perspective on them. I realised I don't want to be a fan of only the old stuff and rant about "only old Muse was good". I love them so much and I want that love to feel fresh, not retospective. And I was happy to fall so easily for WOTP. A lot of people really hate Compliance, but I just freakin love that tune, it gets me it the right mood. Maybe because it came at spring 2022 and this song along with WSD were actually some of the few things that kept me sane as I watched my country turning into an anti-utopian 1984-like failed state (I am from Russia). This song is so catchy and funky with some dark lyrcs. I loved to play it in my headphones and sing along as I was walking the streets with Z-graffity on walls and cars in my hometown...
Other songs from the album also got me, KoBK is so cool and hard, Verona is so lovely and beautiful, WAFF is my ringtone now. It's so nice to just enjoy the music of your favourite band, old and good and not to rank everything

You found good words for it, because I think it really can be a decision. I think I decided to trust that Muse simply won't do a bad album when Drones came out. Somehow I listened with a kind of an openness from then on. Didn't even think one bit that Simulation Theory does sound less like Muse, what some people say about it. Sounds so very Muse to me. And it came out on my birthday, what a lovely present!

I got into Muse fairly late in the game... saw them live in Dubai Desert Rock touring the Black Holes album, that was my first album then Resistance came out right after that so maybe my perspective is different... I live the middle of their career the best as you can see 🙂

I had no idea the consensus was that Origin of Symmetry was their best album. Everyone I talk to say their favorite is Absolution. But those two and Black Holes and Revelations are easily their best albums. To me, Origin of Symmetry is a bit of a mixed bag - some of it is like their moody emo-ish stuff from earlier, and some of it hints at the direction they would go on the next two albums. Absolution is the most stylistically consistent album, with the clearest theme (although the bonus song Fury from the Japanese release is a terrible song IMHO). But my favorite is Black Holes and Revelations. It's the most diverse and experimental, but it still has some of the raw edge of their previous albums, that their later albums abandoned for a more pop-ish sheen. Plus, Invincible might be my favorite Muse song.
I hated The Resistance when I first got it - I thought Muse completely lost their balls - and it took a long time for me to appreciate it (although I still think Uprising is one of their absolute worst songs, and I still slightly prefer The 2nd Law, despite Chris's songs). And I happen to love Falling Away with You (favorite song on the album, in fact) and, to a lesser extent, The Big Freeze. Drones is okay (aside from Psycho, which is garbage), but I rarely listen to anything after The 2nd Law nowadays (I haven't gotten Will of the People yet), and mostly stick to the big 3. And not an album, but the Dead Star / In Your World EP is fantastic.
Black holes and revelations is my favourite muse album because its more bombastic and more energetic and it sort of tells a story that's why I like it so much
I'd say my top 3 is fixed, but the rest depends what mode I'm in and how long in between listens. I did not include Hullabaloo as I don't listen to it a lot. However, I have my own 3 hours long playlist with Muse B-sides where the songs are all included and that is actually my go-to at the moment!

Fillip is an interesting take, I personally find it very fun, but it do be pretty silly lol. Map of problematique being least fav on BHAR is definitely an interesting take lol, it can get a little less interesting after many listens and the production ain’t the best but it’s prob one of my favs on the album.

I wish I didn't have to put Simulation Theory at the bottom, it's so good, but everything else is just... better. Muse is great.
Also, I feel like Will Of The People seems to be designed to be played on shuffle. I find the best way to relisten is to start with the title track and put everything else on shuffle, it keeps it fresh whilst not losing much as the album isn't coherent as it is.
We have a pretty similar list! But you have some really hot takes (with Drones specifically). I agree though, they are just built different.

I'm kinda sad to see their latest two albums being bottom score, but I'm still holding out hope for them to put out something that's at least on par with Resistance even though I have a hard time seeing they'll beat the Origin/Absolution/Black holes era.

I don't get the hate for Ghosts, it's definitely not a bad track. It's not Muse-esque by any stretch of the imagination I do agree, but it's still a very solid song.
