    My excuse for the regress of Tony from 1 too 2 is that the iron man suit and “brand” has reinflated his ego back to what it was at the start of iron man 1. Iron man 1 was knocking down Tony stark. Iron man 2 is knocking down iron man.

      yeah, but the film itself isn't about regress. it's about Tony learning to be selfless and saving the world. exactly the same as the first film. exactly the same as Avengers. exactly the same as Avengers: Infinity War. Tony Stark may be the most stale character in the whole of mcu

      @@DorkN313the original version was going to be an adaptation of Demon in a Bottle so it was going to be about regression, but it was changed, we still see some elements of that idea in the final film though.

    • @smileytlj23
      @smileytlj23 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +20

      @DorkN313, how is personhood stale. His ego is a massive detriment to the person Tony wants to be. His own hubris and technical brilliance puts him in the position where he is actively working against his own goals by believing he knows the best course of action. His greatest enemy had always been himself, and the moments he gets out of his head and, by extension, his own way does he thrive. But the ego doesn't go away because it's an inherent trait, therefore an ever-present struggle. Thor grappled with being worthy across the franchise, Steve with morality in an ever changing world, Natasha and Bruce struggling with identity and who they are, and Clint being the only stable one among them, being a family man who knows his worth. A man who can, at the end of the day, hang up his bow and go back to his normal life till he receives another call to action. For most people their problems would take a lifetime to work through, and in a multi film franchise, that's exactly what they did, because they could afford to do so.

    • @seanwolfe1181

      It’s just too much. Looking back on the infinity saga not too many of them were straight set ups for infinity war but just had little teases and we could clearly see an endgame (pun intended). But now it feels like every project is setting up some next threat. We’ve got mutants coming, kang, doom, whatever’s going on with scarlet witch, kingpin becoming mayor, young avengers, eternals, that Shang chi post credit scene. It’s impossible to keep up with it all.

    • @Sugarman96
      @Sugarman96 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +27

      I think the post Endgame Spider-Man movies are the exception. With Far From Home, the point is to see the impact losing Tony Stark had on Peter, and with No Way Home it's about dealing with the cliffhanger of Far From Home. The movies don't set out to lay the foundation of the next climax in the MCU, they set out to tell stories about Spider-Man, that's why they work.

      PLEASE, you, and EVERYONE, if you haven't already, embrace the One True Only God YHWH Jehovah, Only One Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son and Lord and Savior of our souls and the Only One Holy Spirit. God is good. God is love. Jesus is Lord. Jesus IS coming. Your soul depends on it!
      I have seen God act in my life. He saved my soul, changed my heart, changed my mind, helped people through me, took care of people in my life, people I hurt before I found God. God is the only reason I was able to reconcile with my dad before he died.
      God worked through Jesus Christ to save our souls. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. Be baptized in The Holy Spirit, and if He wills, water as well. Repent of your sins, accept God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your heart, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.
      For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, that all who believe on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father Jehovah God but through Him.
      Not long after I got saved I prayed to God for help understanding the Holy Bible, and that same day someone knocked on my door asking me if I wanted to understand the Bible.
      The Holy Bible says, "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek", "If your enemy is hungry, feed him", "if he is thirsty, give him a drink", "pray for those who persecute you", "do not repay evil for evil".
      LORD willing, all humans may commit sin of almost every kind (gay, straight), and that's wrong, and all humans sin, as God tells us through the The Holy Bible, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Holy Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

      @@rrando726 I like Riri. I think she’ll be a great addition to the MCU. However, I don’t think Wakanda Forever was the right film in which to add her. She was bright and bubbly, excited about joining the MCU, in a film that needed to be somber and mournful. That’s nothing against the actress, I understand that she didn’t know Chadwick Boseman, she didn’t have that connection to him that the rest of the cast did. I think she had an excellent performance for a standard MCU movie, but WF was meant to also be a memoriam, and she took us out of that space.
      I do look forward to seeing what they do with her character outside of Wakanda Forever, and I hope it’s handled well, but I think it would have been nicer to have her introduced in FATWS or something.

      I also think it was a bad move to replace Iron Man that soon after his sacrifice. We spent ten years with Tony going from a box of scraps, to a universe saving nano-tech weapon. Iron Man the suit became part of Tony's growth as a person, leading to his sacrifice. It just felt cheap to see someone become "Iron Man" in her dorm room, as a science project. I especially think the villains in agents of shield are quite fantastic especially the first 5 seasons. Id also say something similar about days of future past being the best ensemble marvel film. I think marvel studios doesnt have as good villains or arcs. I think the Russos work was great. I definitely have a lot of love for some of their films. I think Marvel tv specifically did a lot of things better. mainly just compelling writing. I think the same things can be said for Daredevil it just didnt get to continue naturally.

      @@TheTurbanator123 the Disney plus series suck but I would put quite a few films over AOS. I also strongly disagree that ANY X-Men film other than First Class could even be considered an ensemble, let alone a good ensemble. Those movies are wolverine and friends, each with room for like three other characters who get a portion of his spotlight, in that films case Charles, Erik and Mystique. First Class is an amazing ensemble, DOFP is a glorified wolverine film just like every X-Men movie with Logan

    • @mr.iiconic
      @mr.iiconic 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      @@TheTurbanator123 this might just be me being a comics geek, because in the comics the X-Men based are a true ensemble where everyone spends most of their time as a supporting character and 10% of it as a main character when it's their turn to be the pov character of a particular storyline. The movies completely botched this and took a shit on everyone who wasn't Wolverine, Charles or Magneto (and later Raven, Charles and Magneto for the Apocalypse). This is why I LOVE first class, it's the only true X-MEN movie that is about X-MEN the team and not two character and their sidekicks.

    • @TheTurbanator123
      @TheTurbanator123 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @mr.iiconic yeah I mean you bringing up first class isn't a bad thing to me. It's definitely better than a lot of marvel studios films. I do think days of future past is an ensemble. Pretty crazy concept, I know. I mean the cast speaks for itself. Plenty of characters havea great moment. My brain Doesn't immediately go to wolverine with that film. I think of Charles Arc and the concepts and themes of hope. I think of Evan Peter's. I think of both magnetos. I think of the rogue cut even. I love days of future past and you pointing out that Logan gets a focus again doesn't change I like that film more than most avengers films other than civil war and infinity war. Which I would say are on par. I also love X2 and I don't think there's a film quite like it since.
      I do think agents of shield did multiple ideas far better. It did secret invasion better. It did evil robots better. It's capable of having comedic episodes. And it's capable of serious dramatic episodes that are dark. I think villains like John garret and Aida and Ward/Hive and The Doctor seriously run laps around marvel studios. Agents of shield even did house of M really well. And it set clear rules for the darkhold that are much better defined than what marvel studios presented. People didn't understand how the darkhold works in wandavision and multiverse of madness. They also explained time travel and multiverse ahead of the films. They did Jeffery mace before marvel studios did us agent.
      The other thing it does better is female characters. Agent may daisy johnson jemma Simmons mockingbird.
      Same with other marvel tv. Jessica jones Colleen wing Karen Paige misty knight Claire temple
      Overall I would say Marv studios needs to step its game up in terms of writing.
      I wouldn't say this other stuff is perfect btw. Defenders is flawed. The other netflix shows are quite cheap other than daredevil. Agents of shield has some slumps.
      But gun to my head I would take the writing of marvel tv and the works of mattew Vaughn over some of the superficial mediocre writing of marvel studios
      And the fact the Russos and marvel studios right now believes Robert downy Jr Dr doom is what we want and not just a reallt well thought out story is so cringe and desperate.
      And I mean come on almost every villain in marvel tv is far superior. Kingpin killgrave GrantWard Aida bullseye Hive
      Also if we are bringing up comics I think TV does comics better. For DC and Marvel.

    Ultimately, the reason there were no female- or minority-led MCU films prior to Civil War is Ike Perlmutter (then CEO at Marvel and owner of ToyBiz) only got involved in Marvel Comics to sell toys, and according to their data, "female and black characters don't sell toys". He was also in control of the TV division completely, which is why it deviated so far from canon, as he was trying to leverage it to force the MCU to do what he wanted (showcase the Inhumans, for one, in order to undermine the X-Men; longer story). Him trying to keep them from bringing Tony Stark in for Civil War because RDJ was too expensive is why Disney stepped in and removed him from control of Marvel Studios, after an ultimatum from Feige.

      Personally I didn’t like externals very much, but I have no issue with the things you mentioned. I’m fine with the celestial being dead in the ocean, it’s a little weird, but whatever. Me just being pedantic, it’s definitely way too small, compared to the size shown in the scene where it destroys a planet as it “hatches”.
      My main problem comes from the existence of deviants and the celestial as a big bad. It kinda feels like the movie should have been extended and dealt with those two ideas and threats separately. Also I’m just tired of new characters dealing with world ending threats by themselves. I love Shang-Chi, but I’m annoyed by its final boss for the same reason.
      Also the nature of the eternals as a team doesn’t feel like it was fleshed out enough, with the whole thing going on where they can forget themselves and become mindless killing machines. It needed more time.
      Lastly Circi’s powers were treated weirdly throughout the film. It is shown pretty well at first that she can change the material something is made of, but not the shape. The bus is a fun example when she turns it into petals, then it collapses. But the crux of the film has her turn the deviant into a tree. In that case she changes shape, but not material. Then proceeds to never have her do that again. Maybe it was meant to showcase that she can use her powers on living things, but if so they did it wrong. I don’t even know where a celestial would even stand in regard to that. The death of the celestial also just felt weird to me.

It isn't technically canon to the MCU despite referencing Avengers-era events sometimes (same with all the Netflix shows I believe), but seasons 1 and 3 of Daredevil is genuinely the best tv Marvel has ever made, and in my opinion are the heights of the MCU as a whole. I'm amazed that people think that Marvel didn't do a stinger until phase 4. But also believe that the shows impacted how audiences respond to marvel content and made the "marvel has fall off since endgame" more louder

      I even enjoyed love and thunder (even though it has chronic Ragnarok syndrome) because I didn't expect it to be the next game changer
      While some are objectively worse than others, to compare it all to endgame and say with a serious face 'the MCU has fallen off' when only a handful of the latest films and series are objectively bad feels disingenuous

    IMO The absolute worst moment in all the MCU was when Thanks killed Gamora for the Soul stone. They established that Thanos genuinely didn't care about Gamora, Nebula or any of his "children." He tortured and abused them and sacrificed them like pawns.
    And so when sacrificing her to get the souls WORKS somehow... The movie basically confirms that his abusive behavior was somehow... Love? Like not even in a "he believed that he loved her." Way, but in a "the magic of the universe says that his abusive love is fine."
    Wouldn't it have been so much better if he killed Gamora and nothing happened? It would show that the soul stone has the ultimate protection. You have to kill something you love to get it, but if you are willing to kill what you love for selfish gain, then you never really loved it in the beginning.
    It would also set up the Hawkeye/Black Widow sacrifice more. You can only get the soul stone by sacrificing yourself, because if you really love someone you would rather put yourself in harms way and that would actually be love.

    • @DreamyAileen
      @DreamyAileen วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It wasn't "the universe", it was specifically the Soul Stone, and the Infinity Stones are shown to be both sapient and malevolent. The Mind Stone is the most obvious example: in the first Avengers movie it influences the Avengers into arguing, and in the second Avengers movie it creates Ultron. But all of the Infinity Stones (except the Time Stone, which is implicitly reined in by sorcerer magic) have at least one scene that shows they're bad news. I don't think it's that far of a stretch for the Soul Stone to judge Thanos's sacrifice of Gamora as "good enough" based solely on how sad he was about it.
      Also for what it's worth, it's stated at one point (I forget when but I think it was in Guardians of the Galaxy) that the Infinity Stones _want_ to be reunited. Thanos was obviously the best candidate for the job, so that could've been a factor in the Soul Stone's decision to accept his sacrifice of Gamora as well.

    Okay, my big gripe is with your analysis of Captain Marvel. You basically wave off her arrogance as ‘basically the same as Iron Man, Thor, etc.’
    But in this film, her arrogance doesn’t result in her being humbled, instead, its made to seem as though it is her strength. She is a Mary Sue, through and through. Everything bad that happens in the film is external to her. She was always the victim, and that’s the turning point of the film.
    In Iron Man, Tony is faced with his own sins, and has to try to make up for them.
    In Thor 1, Our Lightning Lad is forced to reckon with his own hubris and arrogance, and must be humbled before he can “don the cape” again.
    Captain Marvel, by contrast, just woke up from her brain-washing! It was never her fault. Her arrogance? SUBSTANTIATED. Everyone else is bad, especially those IMPERIALISTS. A woman character with a defect that needs to learn and grow? WHAT? THAT MEANS THAT WE HAVE TO ADMIT THAT WOMEN CAN HAVE CHARACTER FLAWS AND WE CAN’T HAVE THAT.
    The movie was beyond garbage. I’m no red-piller (I think anti-fems are as insufferable as feminists), but the amount of sheer feminist garbage in Captain Marvel makes me want to sign up for Andrew Tate’s Hustler University.
    And I’m sorry, but a ‘cat-alien’ is what gave Fury his scar? I’m sorry, it’s not ‘zany’. It’s not ‘cute’. It’s a massive dump on the Marvel legacy and should be up there (or down there) with Hulk, Thor 2, etc. It’s BAD.

    Without his own weapon literally blowing up in his face, he was on track his supervillain origin story. He mends his ways, but it's not an over night thing. He haunted by his past and feels like he's living in his father's shadow. The MCU tones it down, but he's literally meant to be Andrew Tate.

    Your premise is faulty regarding the batch of films at the end not being good because they had to add in a bunch of setup for the next batch of films. 'Thor:Love and Thunder' wasn't bad because it had to deal with the Guardians. It was because Taika didn't seem to take any of it seriously and removed a bunch of scenes featuring Jane Foster so he didn't have to take out any of the "comedy". There was at least one sequence showing her transformation that had a lot of behind the scenes photos but was cut from the movie. Probably so that they could put more Korg or yet another goat screaming bit in. As for 'Guardians of The Galaxy vol 3' not having to deal with any curveballs. Originally Gunn was going to kill Gamora in GotG vol 2 until Kevin Feige talked him out of it at which point he realised it made more sense for Yondu to die only for them to kill Gamora in Infinity War which they almost definitely planned on doing when they asked him not to. They did call and inform him so it's not like he saw Infinity War and found out then but it still meant altering the story he was going to tell because now he was dealing with a Gamora from another time with none of the history he could play with between her and Quill.

    Ike Perlmutter is why we didn't get a Captain Marvel, Black Panther or Black Widow movie till as late as we did. He came from the toy business and during his time at Marvel he was responsible for something that I feel like rarely gets mentioned. In 'Avengers: Several Days of Ultron' there's a scene where Black Widow has to chase down Cap on a motorbike. When the toy came out Cap had gained a new power in the ability to teleport as he was now the character on the bike and Black Widow was nowhere to be seen in that or really any merch from around that time. Same with Gamora because Perlmutter didn't think "girl" superheroes would sell. He was also the guy who, when they swapped out Don Cheadle for Terrence Howard, said nobody would notice because "all black people look the same". Probably no coincidence he's a not so secret advisor and financial supporter of a current presidential candidate.
