Overpriced city car or budget SUV? Toyota Aygo X review

- In a world that's nearly killed off the city car, Toyota's still plugging away with the diddy Aygo X - except the Japanese brand's desperate for us to believe that it's actually a small SUV and not a city car at all. Regardless, we sent Rebecca Jackson to the woods (again) to find out if it's any good, if it's decent to drive and if it needs a turbocharger.

It might look a bit pricey at first but it will look like great value 15 to 20 years down the line when it's still running sweetly and all you've done is serviced it routinely and swapped a few consumables. Aygos are really great little workhorses. People don't see the bigger picture when it comes to cost.....
I swapped my 2019 Hyundai I10 for a new Aygo X last year. Whilst the I10 had a little more space, mine was terribly unreliable with electrical issues, a failed clutch release bearing and a engine fault which almost stranded me in Germany. It was also expensive to service with the dealer.
So far I'm loving the Aygo X (Edge Manual), it has a lot more kit than the Hyundai (the adaptive cruise is a brilliant feature), I prefer the higher driving position and the engine is more frugal too (61mpg over my 8,000 miles so far). And I can rest in the peace of mind that it's a Toyota, with a very proven, if a little underpowered, engine. I've had it into Europe too, where it coped well, and I find the seats very comfortable for long journeys.
I just thought have I already commented the Video?!😅 I swaped my brandnew i10 nline for a nearly base AygoX.
After just 7000km‘s the Hyundai had a broken Turbo and a broken clutch…and something broke on the drivers seatbelt…now im a Little much slower but I know it will Never fail me! Greetings from Germany ✌️
Love my Aygo X Exclusive , I’ve had one every year since they came out
Love it!! Too bad not sold in USA.
It looks nice, price is not too bad and sort of fuel efficient.
Add the brand name to the equation and, ...
It'll sell like mad.
"brand name to the equation" What are you on about bro!
Put your hands up in the air
For Rebecca's premiere!
Don't put video 'n the pause,
'cause Rebecca's in the house! :)))
🤦🏿♀
Been searching for Rebecca for a while. Happy to see this newer channel finally!!
Perfect for 20mph wales😡
I test drove one with a CVT and really liked it - and now I feel very conflicted as an enthusiast…
It does have rivals, Suzuki Ignis
The Ignis is no longer in production, just a few cars left in stock with Suzuki.
Edgie looking little car and as you a Toyota! small enough for these extra small parking spots and squeezing in thru city traffic. Thanks for Sharing! Good to see you back Rebecca always enjoy your Car views and perspectives.
You could have an Aston Martin cygnet in reality as an alternative
Country and city roads are no race tracks, so a car without a turbo is fast enough for daily driving.
Nice review 😊
You forgot to mention the Suzuki Ignis which is more spacious and better value and has a more powerful engine.
The Ignis has now been discontinued.
@@chrisoncars4879 It is still available brand new on Suzuki UK website until 2025. Or you could go for a Suzuki Swift which is a better car altogether than a Aygo X. I am a huge Toyota fan but their small cars are a bit basic or in the case of the Yaris too expensive.
Or you could go for a Suzuki Swift which is a bigger car, you get more for your money and has a more powerful engine. No I don't work for Suzuki just pointing out the better alternatives.
@@bondjamesbond9041 we have an Ignis, it's a great little car. I had a new Swift from the dealers recently when the Ignis was in for a service, really good car with a lot to offer (the spec is incredible for one of the cheapest new cars), but I don't love what they've done to the styling of the current Swift. It is a likely replacement for our Ignis though, as its a good package.

They are a nice looking car, but they are also dreadfully slow, enough to almost leave a snail trail behind them.
Bro it's a go cart with an engine, what do you expect
Rebecca’s humour really came out here. So much more humble and likeable than Matt Watson and intelligent too, Matt got too big for his boots I feel.
Great fun and very natural 👍
Suzuki Ignis is better.
In which way?
@@hanss8092 practicality, fuel economy, and acceleration.
@@joe80ss I agree. Shame the Ignis will no longer be for sale after 2025. The Suzuki Swift is also a better buy than the Aygo X.
Ignis is a tin can on wheels. It's gross. Looks like a fart would blow it over.
has this got bmx tyres ?
No power had mine for 2 weeks gave it back should have struck with a Yaris
Can this thing do anything as well as a VW Up did just a few years ago - for thousands of pounds less? Progress - I don't think so.
Looks good,to cheap in many area, not good enough, and expensive
Aygo where you go ? 🤣🤣🤣
Not rapping in future videos, that is a “tragedy”…. 🎶…😮
Rebecca always 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If the lorry behind you needs to push you up the hill then you know you're in a Toyota Aygo or Yaris
The new hybrid Yaris is quite quick for what is.
Gutless wonder. Shame Toyota has ruined the car for the sake of another 20 bhp.
I get more mpg from my 2 litres diesel.
Hyundai and Kia are cars this sits much higher
Terrible cars but given the moonscape that is the uk 🇬🇧 roads I get it lol 😜
It’s double the height of my Celica 😮
The intro dance is the cringiest thing on the internet. Might want to dial down the wannabe comedian vibe
Buy a Honda Jazz - less stylish but much better...
It is a better car than an Aygo X but is £10k more expensive than an Aygo X. I think for similar money to the Aygo X a Suzuki Swift is a better buy.
Overpriced and far too small...
I'm sorry but your voice is too pitchy.
What are we meant to do with that information?! -Tim
Crap that’s what it is!
