Keith shows us how to properly grease the fittings (grease nipples) on a CAT314E excavator. This process works for any make and model of heavy equipment, skid steers, excavators, backhoes; all of it. We use an air-grease gun but the process will work with an electric gun, or a mechanical pump as well. Spot pins, grease them up, and keep your heavy equipment running smoothly.

That's good stuff, greasing is a daily must. That being said overgreasing can cause dirt and grit to get sucked in and chew up seals and cause leaks on cylinders and extra wear.
Better than undergreasing but still not great.
Be careful greasing absolutely every fitting. Some excavators, such as Volvos, have grease fitting on the swing bearing that can be blown apart if over greased.

@@TekamoHD when my 35g John Deere arrives this week how much grease should I expect to use in a ten hour day? In other words if I want to keep using without running into town how many grease tubes do I need

The worst thing is when you've got grease zerks that wont take grease. . . . you should do a video of what actions you personally take when you run into a troublesome zerk fitting that won't send grease into the pin or bushing even after changing the grease zerk aka nipple.

Tekamo HD sent this to my foreman, he greased the hoe I was running yesterday and put 11 tubes of grease in it, blew to seal on the turn table and grease is dripping all over my windshield and he told me I wasn’t using enough
@@TekamoHD And try to grease with manual not pneumatic or electri grease gun with manual to see if you gona grease it under 4 minutes.

A well greased machine thats done daily, should only be 4 pumps.
Do you recommend moly grease for excavator? Or will that wreck slew bearing? Or better just to get no moly EP grease and use same everywhere.
If it doesnt contain 5% moly, it will void caterpillar warranty. Red n tacky is garbage
Moly for extreme pressure, moly lube should be avoided for bearings. Moly is what you use for bushes and pins.
