Why, the Ecoboost is faster and out performs the 5.0 in almost every facet except maybe longevity, which isn't the top priority of a police vehicle. They also perform better at elevation being forced air. The mountains are a place you'd expect to see more police trucks used and the 5.0 suffers from the same power loss any naturally asperated engine does up here at 10k+ elevation.

Had the same conversation with a State Patrolman , he went from a charger to this and found it to be sadly lacking, , couldn’t corner ( no dah it’s a dam pickup ) slow in acceleration , stopping stunk , only thing it did well was the pit maneuver , if it could catch up

The police charger lacks the following, the SRT-8, Hellcat or Hellcat red eye brembo brake package and its DOT legal race tires. We’ll see what happens when the new crop of police mustangs fitted with the GT performance package ( which includes the brembo brakes and 19 inch pirelli tires ) start hitting the road. I think the charger will be dethroned
Blue and WHITE Ford emblems??? They look cool compared the the chrome ones that have been around for so long, but they should have did silver and black emblems. Would went much better with the stealthy, dark aura of the truck.

40 seat side has a strap behind the seat, pull up and down it folds on my 2023 STX.I couldn't find it on the 60 side unfortunately. found it you have to fold up bottom to get behind rear seat to reach that peg, gyatt that sux. coulda done a strap like on passenger side. option 19A is for the chief of police or a high rank Officer and secret service Gov't officials like presidential chase trucks etc i would think.
My F-150 has led front and back and you cannot upgrade or replace lights. You must replace the entire assembly at a huge cost. My license plate lights were awful but I could up grade to led easily. The trailer plug blocks the light on that side. Why does Ford stick with weak incandescent tag lights. Just a wild idea; have the powerboost hybrid. It cost more but can have gas savings. With an electric lock-in mode you can have a stealth vehicle for urban areas, like I have seen with EV police cars, plus it is much faster out of the hole.

I state this to ask... does it have to be a government agency ordering the police vehicle? Or can I just being a state licensed and comissioned police officer order it for myself?

If you think about this from a fleet standpoint, all the other ford police vehicles use the 3.5. I think only the F150 SSV can be ordered with the 5.0. This means that a department only has to be familiar with 1 engine and keep spares for 1 engine. But the Police version of the Explorer, Expedition, and Transit all use the 3.5.

I'm not sure where you getting your info from, the RCMP here in Canada run thousands of Explorers, they tried a few Durango's they were turned in to taxi cabs in the first year they were so bad. GM is having problems with their 5.3 engines, they can't handle the idling the RCMP put a stop purchase on all GM Vehicles now. I live down the road from the RCMP upfit building I counted over 100 Explorers just waiting to be upfitted.
