You are an inspiration. Crusty old bachelor (72) in South Africa here. Hate cooking but got to . Bought my Goldair GAF 8 fryer yesterday. Subscribed to your channel. Learned a load of info from you. So simply and clearly explained. THANK YOU. I'll let you know how I get on.
pro tip for consistent 'tatoes. Prick then mic them full power for 5-10 mins before air frying, they'll take about 15-20 in the air fryer (I do 160 but depends on your model, as low heat as possible personally) but the centre will always be perfect and super soft. This is closest to 50 in a real oven for me
Hi Carole, no preheat into the majority of food in the air fryer inc potatoes. The recipe was done whilst living in Portugal and you couldn’t get russets. Any potatoes is fine same for chips just avoid dry ones that are overly starchy.
I have a tower 9Ltr duel air fryer I followed your instructions to the letter for Maccan's Frozen baked potatoes found the skins to be very tough the inside was OK what am I doing wrong
Hi Sam, just tried doing jacket potatoes in my air fryer, followed your recipe 30 mins, they were still hard, no matter what I tried I couldn’t get them soft. Is your air fryer a high wattage one?. My potatoes were medium size. Thanks.
We have had fryer for about 6 weeks. Cooks everything lovely, but jacket potatoes. I have tried three times to make sure of timings. I checked this video tonight before cooking. It has a preset of 200c for 25mins, more a less the same as this video. After 25 mins still hard, cooked for a further 20mins still hard, had to finish in microwave a further 12minutes.
I wouldn’t recommend 200c for baked potatoes next time do 30mins for 180 and then if not soft 10mins at 160 As your spuds might be bigger than mine or you might have a less powerful air fryer
@@Recipethis Thanks ! I've tried roast potatoes on both settings. Roast is supposed to be better, but I always get much crispier/better results on "airfry" . . I don't know why they bothered to have the "roast" option on the machine.
@@Muswell I think it confuses so many people as all other brands just have one button. I have experimented with lots of recipes and found air fry is the best.

Do you preheat the airfryer first? And are they russet potatoes. Do you recommend any particular brand of potatoes esp for chips in fryer? Thankyou

It could be the air fryer as they do differ a little with time and temp. Next time reduce the temp and this should solve the problem
I have just got a tower duel air fryer looking for I should cook first
This recipe is a great starting point. And I also recommend our free 5 day air fryer email course recipethis.com/air-fryer-mini-course/

Hi Alan, note we had six medium in the air fryer so they were not that big. I would try 45 minutes next time and see if that helps.

Did you put it on "roast" or "airfry" ?? Ninja has both possible settings.
If using a ninja always opt for air fry.
