Extra comment: i see many people complain about the price. We might have talked too much about the price. I want to stress this knife is very expensive to make and it performed amazing. Its also much bigger than some other expensive knives we tested and hand ground + the 3D printed handle is also expensive to make. A truck is more expensive to make than a scooter guys... Ottobulletproof is an ex-Bundeswehr soldier who earned the Bundesverdienstkreuz (shortest German word), which is one of the highest "Awards" you can get in the army. He has multiple Businesses and is commonly referred to as Giga Chad. 7 vs Wild is Fritz Meineckes survival show/project where he took part in. He designed that Machete together with the UG boys. That thinner spine towards the Tip of the blade was used to split coconuts without damaging the blade.
He has NOT earned the Bundesverdienstkreuz and I don't get why everybody is so stoked about him. Yes, he is an ex-soldier and successful Business man, but I have never seen anything from him that really was outstanding in the field of bushcraft or survival. The Machete Design is also not new, such Designs exist for along time, the only novelty is the printed handle. Let's stay a bit more realistic here...

Most Machetes have soft steel, are hard to break and easy to sharpen. This has a hard steel to keep the convex sharp longer, it is more comparable to a high quality bushcrafter that outgrew its sheath. Curious how hard the spine is, should be less hard somewhere to take vibrations and abuse. Well thought out blade geometry and it is ground for purpose with varying grinds along the edge. Not even that a bad prize for this blade, a lot more work in a knife double the size of a regular bushcrafter. Loved the Video!
@DutchBushcraftKnives do you still recommend the Joker nomad or has it been surpassed for the price range? (I see it didn’t @ properly lol)
I did not expect such a good summary! Lol! Hell of a machete it seems. ;-)
Years ago I worked for Markforged and we printed with D2. I have a blank of it that I've been meaning to make a knife out of.
thats awesome!
I was gonna say... You can absolutely 3d print steel, I don't know how strong it is though
@@usernick8928 The only risk I could see is if you printed the blade vertically, the layers might delaminate with impacts. I printed mine flat, so as long as it's heat treated correctly it should be surprisingly strong

Love your work, can I suggest you use I lanyard the way it's intended not around the wrist, over your knuckles. I love ug tools but the Bravo machete in 1v is superior because of the price and steel. The advantage of the ug Machete with a lighter weight (because of the handle) is only for smaller knives relevant.
I see the benefit more in cold weather. That partly holloe titanium handle has super low heat capacity and cant conduct it well
You can in winter even through gloves get very cold hands quickly if you touch a regular bigger fulltang
I have few of their knives with this machette on the way and they're basically only knives I use anymore. Designs are great, ergos awesome, materials top notch and cool factor is off the charts.
Yeah they're pricey but there's a LOT of knives in their price range that offer nothing new or innovative - just a slab of steel, some G10 on the sides and call it a day. And a shitty sheath... talking about you BM.
Their materials aren't top notch. Shit steel with a polymer handle. 🤷♂️
@@BorealEDC mate, you really don't know what you're talking about. None of their handles are polymer, they're 100% titanium, laser welded. The UG Tools 3DTi machete generally comes without a sheath. I would like to see a side by side comparison of several choppers. The best choppers I own: 1. Bark River Ja-Nap, 2. TOPS El Chete / Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Plus 3V, 3. Bark River Bravo III, 4. Fällkniven Moderne Bowie / Fällkniven Thor / Cold Steel Trail Master 3V / Bark River Grizzly. I think at least the Bark River Ja-Nap can easily compete with the 3DTi machete!
The most astonishing part of the story is that the tang of this blade is only a good inch long and all their knives are for their size super light. Due to the titanium handle and UG tools way to marry it to the blade they are able to create a handle blade connection that is unbelivable strong .I do own 2 small fixed blades from UG tools and like them a lot. So far they have sold many knives with this construction and i have not yet heard of one failing at the tang/ handle connection.
I hope you guys don’t get too commercial
They can be as commercial as they want. We all will be who we are, they won't ruin our enjoyment of knives or outdoors. Listen I'm not a steel snob, I love budget steels and cheaper steels but for 700 quid I'd want something a lot better than 12c27, good steel don't get me wrong but 700 quid? Where are they getting this price!
To put it into perspective, I got a cold steel kukri plus machete today for 40 euro, I could buy 17.5 of those for one of these and one of them would probably last me a lifetime.
I love khukuris and own 5. Traditional, modern, modified, thick, slim you name it I'll love it. This is an unreal design but that pricetag is just unjustifiable.
You could buy two work tuff gear blades for this price at the end of the day.
What steel would you want? I would take 12C27 on a 5000€ machete as it´s a perfect steel for the requirements. For sure it´s expensive but they left out some good reasons for the price. They tested way more expensive knives with less function and nobody ever complanined the price.
@@jangierseugtools1845 I agree it's a good steel, I have many khukuris from Nepal with what would be considered cheap steel by steel snobs but it's perfect for the job. Takes an edge quickly, rolls doesn't chip etc. @700 euros I'd definitely want 3V minimum, cpm D2, Cruwear, k390 (or other k3xx) etc.
My main point is where are they getting 700 quid from. I understand it's custom/semi custom and a good design but there are knives with better materials, at a lower price point which are readily available and will do the same job.
I could buy 2 WTG knives for this price which are also done in batches and have great study designs. Just doesn't seem right to me, 700 for a knife which you can buy other knives with similar specs that will last a lifetime for much less.

My main point is yes it's a good steel but for 700 quid I don't want good I'd want great. 01, cpm D2, s30v, elmax, k390 etc. I have many khukuris from KHHI which people bash the steel online, but from my experience the steel is good. Holds an edge decently, sharpens fast and nicely, doesn't chip and so on.
My main point is where are they getting the price from. For 700 quid I can buy two WTG knives which also are made in batches, from great materials and are solid. One WTG knife would last you a lifetime.
Despite the great design and all the positives, definitely a big red flag being it costs 700 quid.
@@Joshuaskehan-mk8cj You should read arcticles from the knife steel nerds. He would 100% support our decision on this steel and never use high alloyed PM steels like Elmax for this. It is simply a bad choice due to super high carbide volume, which leads to super low toughness. 12C27, AEB-L, 1.4034 are a perfect decision for a chopping tool. An expensice PM steel does not mean it´s good for everything. DBK did not show the innovative lanyard, which goes through the handle and is much better than at the end. The handle is produced with high strenght titanium, everyting is hand made in Germany and no industrial product. So many details that explain the price at least a little are completely left out.
