@rsnfll so basically locking your knees is just standing up straight enough to where your knees are the farthest back they can go and you’re using them for support to help you stand up. some people do it to relieve pressure on the muscles after standing for a long amount of time (because locking your knees means you’re relying on your bones rather than your muscles to help you stand.) tons of people lock their knees daily. but because the legs act as a major blood pump in the body and this function relies on the movement of your leg muscles, if you lock your knees the blood will pool in the legs and lead to a low oxygen state in the brain. not enough blood is reaching it and your blood contains oxygen needed for the brain to function. so if you stand like this for long enough, especially during a performance - that’s what makes you pass out
its not that they didnt notice, in choir, if someone faints during a concert, you have to keep singing and keep looking at the director, and you can see the kids saw from the corner of their eye.
Well this is a bit normal since the show must indeed go on. Normally you arent supposed to stop for.. almost anything. If you mess up, continue on. Yknow? Just saying 😅
The amount of times that kids passed out in my choir is not even funny like I am not joking, mid church practice, and my friend just dropped and I’m just ahhh
Bro locked his knees when he was Probably told VERY VERY CLEARLY NOT TO DO THAT!! My choir teacher tells us almost every day the week of a concert not to lock our knees
@@gymnasticsforever110Most teachers tell you to not lock your knees, because when you lock your knees for a few minutes (3-7 minutes) it cuts off your blood circulation, causing you to faint. When I was in choir a year ago, a girl locked her knees and she fainted from the top riser, causing her to not only pass out, but to have a concussion.
locking knees does cause blood circulation to stop which doesn’t allow blood to go to the brain. i passed out in chorus but it was not because of locked knees, it was because i had a bad fever and i didn’t know until that happened, i do have a big history of passing out when i get a fever or don’t feel well. my throat hurt that morning but i didn’t think of taking my temp. most embarrassing thing in my life, i stayed out of school for a few days, partly bc i was sick and partly bc i was embarrassed :p

So my weird choir stories: I was like 6 or 7, and the group one level above mine were on stage. From what I’ve heard, one of them fainted and another threw up. Same concert, within like 15 seconds of each other. Separate story: So in February 2023, I was supposed to attend the World Choir Games in Hull, England. Now I live in England, right? Only an hour on the coach. But I felt ill on the morning and my phone barely lasted 10 minutes at that time. I ended up breaking out into panic (attack) and I didn’t go. As soon as I got home I threw up. Also got a new phone that day so yay.

This was one of the scariest moments of my life. We had a veterans program and all was good we were singing our songs and all was going great. Until a kid on the top row fainted. He fell FORWARDS down all the risers and hit his face on the bottom row. He fell on my shoulder and slipped off slamming his chin on the risers. He split his chin open and went to the hospital. Now whenever we go to watch other grade’s programs our music teacher is showing the kids to bend their knees every now and then.
Funny story actually my choir teacher let’s call him g sets us up in the middle of the year to go on a field trip at pinstack to perform for some judges and we where rehearsing our song when all of the sudden I blinked and I could barley see and if I could I was seeing static and then I started sweating really bad so I just kept singing and my friend next to me was like hey are you ok like do you need a hug so I said yes but then I found myself struggling to stand up so I swung my arms around her and was like hElp mE so we finished and sat down and we asked g if we could use the bathroom but her said no and I was mad at him the rest of the day. Long story short I almost passed out because the day before I was sick and I still had side affects.
I’m assuming he was locking he’s knees due to stress. My old choir teacher would always tell us the horror stories about kids who passed out because they were locking their knees..
I passed out at a performance and my music teacher saw so she got her co workers to make a circle around me, I came to and had some water then got up to finish my performance before “hitting the hay stack” again then I got carried and laid on a long chair the second time I was out for longer than 10 minutes I have a great music teacher who knows I have a fainting disorder so she would constantly monitor me but I left last year in October and when she found out I left she quit
