- At the time of his death, Jim Jones held such power over his followers that he was able to direct more than 900 of them to participate in a mass murder-suicide.
Jones was the leader of the Peoples Temple, a ministry of his own devising that convinced hundreds of Americans to move to his compound, known as Jonestown, in the South American nation of Guyana. Of the 918 Americans who lost their lives in the Jonestown massacre on Nov. 18, 1978, investigators determined 907 died from ingesting poison, including nearly 300 children. They used cyanide, and either injected it into people with syringes or mixed it with a powdered soft drink called Flavor Aid.
Others were shot or stabbed that day. Jones himself was found with a single bullet wound to the head.

These weren’t actually Jonestown survivors; they never went. They were former Peoples Temple members and members of the Concerned Relatives group. The second lady was the ex wife of one of the Airstrip shooters: Tom Kice, and he and their son died in Jonestown.
Correct all so there was man who was a jonestown member he was 1 who left with Leon Ryon chrispher o Neil he survived the airstrip shooting but a far few years later he had some issue regarding a gun or a knife leading up to the police killing him by shooting him

I have watched a lot of videos on this topic . I just got finished reading article from News week magazine from 1978.. Before the congressman went down to jonestown to check on the people. They also had two other visit from two separate people.

The man and wife were both killed. The two people here in this video were the ones that were murdered. Their names were Elmer and Deanna Mertle. They and their daughter were shot to death in 1980, I believe.

They had to change their named legally to Jeannie & Al Mills, to make void anything they signed over to Jim Jones & The Peoples Temple.

You never show the whole crazy at the beginning. Some who have studied People's Temple argue that it became a cult after they moved to California. Much like how Scientology doesn't reveal the Xenu story until OT3 (when you've spent years and $25-50K in auditing and classes), you are already pretty invested. It's a classic example of Sunken Cost Theory.

If Stephan claimed to hate his father's actions (and especially after he witnessed all of the defections by 1978 and all of the press coverage which proved that his father's operation was a "cult",) he could've and would've easily defected with the rest, especially by late 1978.
Why didn't he do that? Because he's a liar who changed his story. He was not a little kid anymore by the time of the Massacre and often kept guard over Jonestown residents with a rifle-in-hand.
Are we to believe that during his plane ride back from Jonestown to the States (directly after the Massacre occurred), Stephan suddenly found the "moral courage" or "moral duty" to FINALLY denounce his father publicly? I'm not buying it.

An alternate theory to this massacre was that the USSR was building a ICBM missle bunker in socialist Guyana, and this was used as a cover so the world and more importantly the USSR would not figure out that the US and the UK sent special forces to Guyana to wipe out this missle base, until it was too late. Since Kennedy threw the missles out of Cuba, socialist Guyana was the next place the USSR was putting in a missle complex bunker. Jonestown did happen, but was used as a cover to destroy this missle base. A lot of reporters at the scene reported bodies were laying face down with drag marks emerging from the jungle to the body piles. Apparently 1/3 of these people escaped the jungle, only to be gunned down by US and UK special forces. I have researched Jonestown for 20 years, and find this ‘theory’ to be 50/50….
