    Watched this on my way to go workout. I guess this is 3 months for me now? This was a good reminder that I am kicking ass compared to a few months ago. Really gave me that extra bit of motivation. Thanks, Alex!

    It’s been a while since I’ve seen your videos, and it’s good to see you doing well. I started taking sertraline on April 15 of this year at 1/2 tablet (13.25 mg), but have and an increase to 75mg, and let’s just say it’s been an adventure. I started taking zoloft due to major depression and anxiety from the trauma of giving my dad CPR when he had a heart attack at home (died shortly after arriving at the hospital). That turned in major suicidal ideation, along with other harmful thoughts, to the point where I thought I was going to lose control. So I ended up checking myself into a local mental health hospital, where I ended up staying for three weeks (and about attempted suicide twice while there). This virus situation (I’m in the U.S.) didn’t help in a lot of ways either because a lot of my former coping mechanisms had been taken away, and so that was a huge adjustment. However, one thing I have picked up is art, and that has been amazing for me. It’s been a lot easier for me to express myself, and to even talk with my therapist (who is amazing).

    I started Sertraline 50mg today! Found your channel a couple of days ago and they helped me decide to finally take the plunge and put the stigma of anti-depressants to one side! Thanks for your videos they are very insightful 😃

    I started my journey on sertraline nearly 9 weeks ago and I'm starting to feel the weight being lifted off my shoulders. It has been a far better experience than the ones I had with other ssri's but the stomach pain, not being able to trust a fart and diarrhea has not gone away, if anything it has got ever so slightly worse! Should I see my doctor about it or is this standard and goes away in time?
    By the way, I am loving your vlogs! Much respect!

    Just joined you from NZ. I'm on my 5th day of sertraline and honestly your videos have been amazing. I was so scared to finally start taking medication even after seeing a therapist for a few months now, and having it suggested I never took the plunge until I ended up wanting to self harm. Your videos have set my mind at ease and so far my side affects have been minimal, and based on your vlogs I finally feel hopefully that the recovery is possible. Thank you

I’m doing much better every day :) I’m up to 75 mg now and I’m starting to see a lot more positive changes in myself ; I’m able to start new habits, question my thought patterns, and I feel so much more hope for the future and excitement 😄 Of course it a not perfect and I fall back into my ways here and there but I don’t get stuck for so long or as badly

    I know you did this video 4 years ago. But every time i go up a dose i do feel more nervous then after a couple of weeks i feel better for a week or 2 then it comes back for a week or so , did you get this ive been on sertraline for 4 months but it was only a month ago i went up to 150

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Realistically anytime you adjust the dose you are putting your brain through an incredible amount of change. This is why most sensible GPS would say “6 months at a constant dose” is the amount of time to start to feel ok consistently. If you’re at 150 now - give it a few months at that dose. Also remember that the meds are a piece of the puzzle needed for improved wellbeing. Diet, fitness, talking therapy all play a huge role ❤️

    I’ve been on Sertraline 50mg/day just over 2 weeks to treat anxiety (intrusive thoughts). The thoughts are less as they have less meaning (not getting really anxious over then maybe a 3/10 where it was like 9/10! I hope I keep improving and start NHS talk therapy next year on waiting list currently. My libido I haven’t tested yet as I am single but did find it hard to feel emotion but that seems to have gone... I have 2 questions for you, are you still on sertraline? I liked the point you made global anxiety is a lot higher. Think I’ve always been anxious just not to this extent and always been able to cope with a “normal” life (no lockdown) in UK. Lockdown gives you too much time to think

      Hey Billy - I did for a couple of weeks and touch on this subject in this video - th-cam.com/video/XAdHBJeYXcE/w-d-xo.html
      It went away but was worrying whilst it lasted. Some people do experience this as a continued side effect so I would monitor closely and bring up with your Dr if it seems to not change soon. I hope things improve for you and really appreciate the time you took to comment!

    I lasted four days. Terrible headaches, couldn’t take pain killers because my stomach was just as bad. Jittery, very anxious, foggy thoughts confusion, eyes felt weird, very dry mouth, then exhaustion. Despite all of it on the second day I felt a calmness and peacefulness of mind I haven’t felt in a long time once the anxiety settled and that made me very hopeful and put me in a good mood, the following day I woke up completely different, angry irritable and in a fowl mood. But what really made me throw away the pills was my libido completely gone and what I’ve read online about it after. All of that on only 25mg which my psychiatrist was trying to work me up to 100mg. On day four I was supposed to go from 25 to 50mg couldn’t reach my gp or my psychiatrist and threw it all out.

    Zoloft has high affinity for the reuptake inhibition of dopamine more potent than any ssri, TCA,snri even the ndri bupropion nor methylphenidate, but the thing is it's high protein binding which means the bioavailability is too low to fix that you need to take it regularly to keep steady high plasma concentration!
