    I remember vividly sitting up most nights watching your videos whilst I was right in the thick of starting sertraline. I cannot describe how helpful you was! Fast forward a few years on and I'm off sertraline and feeling better than ever and even more so now I am aware of how life's stresses can affect me and how to navigate through them

    It’s day 2 & I’m doing as the doctor suggested to seek therapy within network with hopes to be & do as you have. This video has help me so I don’t give up on my recovery with this med as I have issues with dependency on any thing. TY & keep up the great job.

    Hi Alex, good to see u back. Your channel helped me immensely Im 4 years into my sertraline journey and I'm In such a better place, my confidence has grown ive learned to love myself and the things that used to worry me now don't. I'm not sure I'm ready to come off sertraline or if I ever will.

      Thank you so much! Totally the right attitude. Some people have a lifetime relationship with Sertraline and that’s what works for them. There is not race to stop taking a thing that has made you better. Sooo glad to hear you have grown in confidence, that’s fabulous to hear. Really appreciate you taking the time to stop by ❤️

    Oh my word! This brings back memories and gratitude. Thank you for being you. I remember watching your videos back in 2020 as I was prescribed sertraline, went through therapy and came out of the other side after a couple of years on them. I learnt so much, do use some techniques you've spoken about before and it has made life much more tolerable and happy. ❤

    The medicAtion is what had me blocked to seeing what I'm actually worth. Once I stopped that, and alcohol, I didn't look back, and kept moving forward, and still moving. Glad your off those horrible drugs Alex. Staying consistent with all the positive changes is key.

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth

      I prob have a different perspective as they really allowed me to move forward and work on the other stuff but this is important for people to see. These are not for everyone and just because they don’t work for you doesn’t mean you can’t work on the other stuff and get better. Appreciate you! I remember your username as it always made me chuckle!

    Alex, so great to see you're doing well post sertraline! I started on it back in 2020 when I hit a very low point in my life. OCD was and is the biggest contributing factor in my struggle with depression & anxiety. I started on 100mg per day and am now on 50. I would like to get to a point where 25mg a day is all I need and maybe get off it altogether. This drug has helped my OCD immensely. This is the most normal I've felt since my teens and I'm 47. I wish I had the willpower to stop drinking alcohol. I never abused the substance despite all of my past troubles, but I know from an overall health standpoint, it would be wise to cut back or stop completely. Also, I wanted to ask, did stopping sertraline alone cause you to lose weight? Or was it mainly the lifestyle changes you made?

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Probably stopping booze more than anything. I’m more cautious about what I eat but still have a sweet tooth. I think if you wanna reduce alcohol I’d just start by have some non-alcoholic beers in the fridge and defaulting to them for the first of the night. Then maybe space them inbetween regular beer. The zero Guiness is incredible

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, fantastic work and so glad to hear how well you’re doing! I defo think the end goal is different for different people - being med free works for me (at the moment) but I’m certainly don’t think that’s the goal. Being better is the goal and if that means meds, so be it!

    I took an ssri for a year from August 2022 and stopped august 2023. No alcohol at all for a year after that and felt fine until last week. Back on the ssri as of August 6th.
    My plan is to stay on the ssri for 6 months.
    Wish me luck

    Really happy with the impact sertraline has had on my life and remember watching your videos to help me normalize taking them. BUT after taking it for a year, i do notice sideeffects of taking it that people dont really talk about; weight gain, change in face shape, and chronic migraines. Im curious if you (or others) have had similar experiences?

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Possibly weight gain. It’s hard to say for sure if that was linked to meds. Strangely I suffer from 1-3 migraines a week all my life from teens to 40s EXCEPT when I was on Sertraline, so who knows?! 😅 Face shape, maybe linked to weight gain?

      Amazing! Wow that means a lot to me. I sometimes doubt how useful this stuff is but I need to remind myself that even if 1 person feels the benefits it’s all worth it. So glad the meds are working out for you and you’ve found a status quo! ❤️

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@2ba777 if it’s an existing thought then it’s likely to be one of the main reasons for your prescription correct? In which case the usual timeline would apply from a few weeks to 6 months. The first few weeks disrupt your neurotransmitters which can cause a temporary increase in anxiety. I’d advise you check in with your Dr so they can reassure you
