I take Goose's 2021 Suzuki V Strom DL1050 out for my first ride and this is what I think.

Just part ex'd my 2016 versys 650 GT for a 21 plate orange/white XT 1050 with all the bells and whistles the other day still sat in the garage as i have not had time to go out yet hopefully it won't disappoint good vid mate

I love the look of the V-Strom 1050 in yellow and blue. Indeed I had every intention of buying one...until I test-rode it. GUTLESS. Never been more disappointed in a bike. Just as I was expecting it to 'get going' it seemed like it had hit a limiter, running out of steam. Change up a gear, and get the same again. Suffice to say I took it back to the dealers and voiced my disappointment.
I was glad to get back on my ZZR1400 for the ride home.
I suppose there is a fair bit less bhp coming from a zzr , I had a gtr1400 and found I like the engine braking of a v twin , and over my favourite twisty mountain road the v strom is the quicker machine whereas the gtr was ok and great on the faster motorway .
Most would seem "Gutless" after the ZZR. I'm struggling to understand what you were expecting 190 BHP lumpy old super sport tourer vs a comfortable all rounder if you were to compare the comfort weight handling etc I would get it. Engine power on The V strom is over 100 BHP with a top end at 135 mph and that's about the standard for "Tall rounders" but it's mid rev range where it's used most making it a relaxed ride for long journeys it has enough for the road but not the track. Similar to a Range rover. You wouldn't get out of Cosworth test drive a R, Rover and moan to the RR dealer about the Power difference. Horses for courses.
So different to his 2017 V Strom, this feels far more powerful
Think its 6bhp more but same chassis , brakes etc ,I prefer the screen on the older version , but a very underrated bike . 60 plus mpg too.

Looks good. Agree, the seat in my T7 is firm but that's a good thing. I always set the rev "flasher" to whatever the max torque is. Thanks for the review. Subscribed 👍
Sounds like a nice bike to ride, mind you I wouldn't be able to ride it if the seat height is higher than on yours, barely touch the floor on that! 🙈

That is nice, as you said. It's light, it's smooth, has good brakes, is comfy, and and and. But, that is a Suzuki you're on there Mav, what else can you expect? There is nothing better to be had atm... anywhere out there. There might be a close second place, the Tiger, but that is heavier and will leave a bigger hole in ya wallet. Well done and congrats to Goose on his excellent choice.
PS, by the sound of all that heavy breathing in your helment before setting off, it sounded as if you were also getting a little excited there?
