Great thanks for your kind words about "Where is it" Dudley :)
There is a little mistake (20'00) : on the video you talk about 3 arcade difficulty levels, in fact there are 4 :
    - Easy
    - Normal
    - Hard
    and
    - Mix
I'm really happy that you love it ;)
    Thanks again
Congratulations to all for your entries for this SMSDevCompo'23
    ps:
Concerning DoTheSame, the items graphics were updated by Kagesan and the new version is downloadable on smspower too or my itchio ;)

I've not known a year this consistently good. 2 years ago last place was a picture gallery and the bottom game was a 2 minute experiment that didn't yet work. Here the bottom 2 are a full programming language and a very nice little car thing. Mad.

Oh boy I've been looking forward to this vid for a while ^_^
It's always nice to see these running on real hardware since when you're doing all of your testing on an emulator, you never know if there are gonna be issues on the real thing 😅

Does mean I couldn't show off your FM chip efforts but it's still worth it. If you people put in this kind of effort the least I can do is take advantage of my ability to show them off properly. If it ever helps with compatibility later btw that's a late "Alex Kidd" UK SMS1.
You got absolutely screwed by the sheer quality of the other releases this year, in no universe does it deserve 6th, it's lovely!

@@LouisTheSEGANerd I've sucked at looking at and playing homebrew as someone sort of new to the scene, but while I now plan to check out this whole list, I'll have to look at yours early. As a musician myself, I appreciate anyone who goes the extra mile to go for FM sound! I feel like a lot of original commercial games really didn't take full advantage of what was available on that chip.

    • @LouisTheSEGANerd
      @LouisTheSEGANerd ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@TheNuje In all honesty the FM music in my game is incredibly basic due to limitations with the tracker I was forced to work with (MoonBlaster on the MSX), but at least devkitsms supports playback of both PSG and FM at the same time which is kinda cool I guess :)
Here's one of the tracks running on an MSX emulator:

The SMS light gun used a far more clever system for detecting aiming than the NES Zapper. Ironically, though, it also guarantees that there will never be a modern display that can support it. NES Zapper support, meanwhile, can theoretically work, if the display has low enough latency.

@@Yesterzine, I find them to be overrated, and I grew up in the peak era of their existence! Seriously, you go try to find a 55" CRT and try to get it into your house, let alone haul it yourself without hurting, and/or killing, someone, including yourself, or wrecking it, or wrecking your house, or finding any sort of parts for it, or finding those parts for cheap, or finding good quality replacement parts for it, or finding anyone that has first hand knowledge on how to make all of the parts, let alone repair them, to original factory specifications, and see how well that goes for you.

Honestly, Shootagem needs NES/FDS, SNES/NSFC, and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive/Nomad ports as well, and maybe some Game Boy/Game Boy Color, GBA/GBASP/GBA Micro, and Game Gear ports as well, and the ability to play with controllers, like in the home ports of the Lethal Enforcers games, and the ability to play the game with guns that work on a HDTV, or similar based variant, option for the game as well.

However, the poor people that are in Australia and New Zealand call them both chips, which, contrary to what they may think, absolutely DOES NOT make it less confusing. Oh, and the state of my birth in my country also has a factory for Pringles, and that company also sponsored a minor league baseball team that lasted for around two decades in the area until the team, the corporation, the city, and MLB all got into some disputes over the team and MLB decided to completely make the A, AA, and AAA teams into smaller organizations that now have thirty teams each, to correspond to the thirty MLB teams.
