wow... thank-you, for creating such an excellent detailed hands-on review. I have been searching and no one has made one like yours. This camera looks amazing. Thanks
Hi Sir, I just got my tapo c200. I want to ask you. How can you monitor the camera at home while you are outside the house? Both have wifi (my phone and camera). I can not connect my phone to tapo camera located in the house because its wifi is not in range. So, even though I have wifi to log in my tapo application but still I have to connect to tapo camera's wifi which is not in range because I am far home. Please help me. Thank you
What an absolute shame that you fail to go through the Detection and Alerts section. People are buying these as security cameras, and you're showing how quickly it can pan left and right
Detection is ok, tho there are inaccuracies from time to time. The problem is with the notifications from the camera to your smartphone. If the network is poor, you might end up not getting any alert notifications on your phone. This camera is better for single story homes. Make sure you have wifi extenders so that your camera setup in the 2nd floor or behind a wall can easily communicate with your phone.
Hi can u tell be how do I use night vision and what it back the next day I got one two days ago but haven’t a clue how to use it or set it up does it record through the night so I can play back in the day to watch my daughter has been sleep walking so I’m trying to get to the bottom of it but need a camera that does the above and isn’t complicated also do I need to keep my phone on when using it I only need it to record night at night sorry for all the questions I’m no good with anything like this 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Can I still use and access the camera if it is connected via over the internet via wifi, while I am away on vacation, through my phone while I am connected data/wifi?
Do I have to pay a monthly subscription for cloud storage or will it save clips and let me download them to phone? I don’t want an SD card either. Thanks
Good question. I don't know the answer, but you probably could with a little know-how. It records in H.264 format, which is a pretty common format. A quick search on Google suggests VLC player would work. However, I couldn't say how the files are saved to the SD card, so you might struggle to find the specific file to playback. I can imagine however if you have the camera set to record motion detection only, there will be far less files to chose from. Also, the files may be encrypted, so that might be a problem trying to playback on a laptop/PC.
The camera forces you to create account and login through the company servers, which are in China. This seems to be the case with all TP-Link products recently
Wanna ask about the privacy mode. Does the camera tilt down all the way so it won't record anything or it's just the software cutting recording off. Cos i still feel more secure having the camera not pointing at all :D
You are correct. It's a software trigger. If you add a smart socket however, you could cut the power completely for absolute security. Of course, you need to be confident your smart socket doesn't have security vulnerabilities too, otherwise a hacker could simply turn it back on (in theory).
@@ottofumbler7267 That's a good idea! Now i have more things to buy hahaha. I got it accidentally for a good deal at 21 USD and impulse buy a C100 at 7 USD then won another C200 on a giveaway 2 days later 😂

I'm looking for this as well and so far I've found that you can view it on a pc with 3rd party software called "ispy". I get my camera tomorrow to test it out. I also found out that this camera can be connected to a NVR. Not sure yet if it can be viewed remotely through a browser. I hope this at least pointed you in the right direction.
@@SlapRoundTheChops Yes, you have to pay for cloud storage. You can set a notification if movement detected. Capo marks movement on playback timeline. If you play the playback you can press the camera icon and the app records the playback to the app. You can export it to camera roll or and share it with someone.
no need to worry bro, im getting feed and webcam data thru my cellular data after sync. hence you can get it anywhere as long you connect your account to the tapo app. initially pairing up do need to be on the same wifi first.
www.tapo.com/uk/faq/34/ It is possible to view the live stream using 3rd party software. Takes a bit of knowledge to setup, but there's plenty of information on this page link.
no it wouldn't, the plug supplies power to the device.. there is no build in battery, indication of having one. i mean, that could be a badass idea thou.
You'll probably need something else for that. The important thing is to look for the IP rating of a product. The IP rating determines how weatherproof something is. I would recommend IP65 as a minimum for outdoor use. This camera is most likely for indoor use only, and probably only has a rating of IP20. Also, the manufacturer has stated it will only operate down to temperatures of zero degrees celsius (32F), so if you live somewhere it gets cold, it's not a good idea to use this outside, even under cover.
@@Chan_72 One tip if you are fitting an outdoor camera is to cover any visible screws in grease. I don't know why, but manufacturers seem to use cheap fixings on these products, and they rust quite quickly if you don't protect them. I use lithium grease, as it's sticky and works in both hot and cold climates.
