    in Kenwood car stereos there is an additional function for 'mic gain'. This option shows up only when you are on a call. By default this value is set very low. Increasing this all the way up resolved the problem for me.

    😂 funny enough I never knew I had this same mic after getting the apple CarPlay screen installed. I thought it just used the existing default mic my car had. The mic blended so well with the black trim around the mirror and I never knew it was there. Had it installed 6 months ago lol

    If I installed a display and it has a mic on the side panel of the car next to my head do I use external or internet mic in settings? Thanks

      Unfortunately too much of a hassle to do it again. The cable is easily snugged in along and above the windscreen to the right Rollbar on the side down and in behind the glove compartment to the retrofit CarPlay system.

    How can we choose external mic from menu? My device still getting sound from internal one

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Must be setting in the retrofit device. It is bypassing the normal system.

      @mr_fix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Fastskull well starting from a total noninformative question. What system do you have ? if it’s bypassing the normal Audi components the bypass should automatically take over the sound. The iDcore unit automatically took over the sound. Remember the sound 3,5 from the IDcore unit must be connected to the Audi MMI port (C7) situated in the compartment between the front seats.

    Where did you connect the plug into? I also have the same mic but I cannot plug it to the radio for some reason. Can you tell me how to connect?

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is connected to an apple CarPlay device that I installed behind the glove box

      Any android head unit or aftermarket head unit will have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack input, every head unit ive seen it's also labeled "MIC"

      @@mr_fix TY for quick answer. I am trying to replace super low quality mic in my 4h gen Forester.

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you know where the current microphone is placed in the car you can always trace the cable to where it is connected. The microphone you see in my video has a long thin cable that ends up with a “male” 3.5 adapter that is stuck into/connected to the retrofit CarPlay device. No matter what kind of connector you have there is always loads of options to convert one type of Audio cable to another.

    • @Andy-rk9mu
      @Andy-rk9mu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mr_fix Thanks for the encouragement. I know where the mic is located and and get to it and fabricate the connector. Having a hard time finding a replacement though. May I ask what kind/brand of microphone you used?

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Andy-rk9mu unfortunately I don’t know what brand it is probably Chinese. I bought it at a car audio store. Has a very long cable and a 3.5 connector

      So I would guess that the microphone you’re using has an extremely bad quality

    • @mr_fix
      @mr_fix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it does. Otherwise you can always move the microphone to the other side of the mirror or even below it.

      Don’t really understand. If there is a device that is bridging between your car and your old car stereo, you have to connect the microphone to that bridging device. After that, it depends on what menu you’re working in if it is the menu of the retrofit device, it is the internal microphone you choose
