Some of you are missing the point. It doesn’t matter if you like IF and Neptunia or not. The point is, if they cancel those, what’s next? Atelier? Trails? Persona? Where does it end?
Maby its time for Nintendo to go bankrupt or something. Personally, I don't bother with Nintendo anymore. The last game I bought from them is LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom. I have decided that since I have all the consoles and a pc that I will buy multiplatform games on devices other then Nintendo devices where ever possible. I may even choose not to buy Nintendo exclusives at all. Every now and then, one of the console makers will get too big for their britches and do something that will piss off their customers so much that they will turn on them and go to the competition. Its Nintendo's turn now and I am quite annoyed with them.
@@Kelvryn It's not Nintendo though. If these games are still available in Japan, then you need to blame the wokies in Redmond Washington specifically, not the overwhelming number of employees in Kyoto, Japan. As for Nintendo going backrupt, good luck with that. They were the richest company in Japan this year. Sony was like not even in the top 100. Nintendo is so profitable, they gave out raises to everybody this year. It is amazing when you think about the fact that they only have 5000 employees in Japan are so insanely productive as a company. Ubisoft has over 18,000 and they produce basically nothing of real value after 2019 and they are not even responsible for a console platform. I say this comparison just to demonstrate how efficient and productive Nintendo is.
Considering IF isn't really willing to expand on the specifics here beyond they didn't "meet guidelines" (which could be several different issues from stability to misclassification to certification issues to actual content problems), I doubt any of those are in danger. It seems more to me that IF wants to invoke the imagery of being censorsed without actually getting into specifics that might make it clearer what happened. I've seen content censorship bans, and typically studios are a little more forthright with what actually ran up against things. Take the Spike Chunsoft release that got banned off of Steam last year (and reversed). There was a lot more info on the specifics of that. Regardless, I'm not gonna start talking like anyone has an objective idea of what's going on here and convince myself of a disaster mindset on mass censorship when, as even people here are saying, this isn't consistent with other recent examples of game content allowed on the platform.
@@The8bitbeard Iwata is fantastic, but I don't feel like Nintendo has lost its way at all. The mentorship there as well as tenure of all of their employees being 10-15 years long ensures the culture at Nintendo won't change. They promote from within all the time as well. It is not run like Bioware or Blizzard or Ubisoft. I find it hard to believe that a company capable of creating something as joyful and creative as Super Mario Bros. Wonder in 2023 is somehow losing its way. Nintendo's ability to consistently deliver high-quality games like this shows they're still on top of their game. Not to mention, they actively fund games like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade Chornicles and let the developers create games themselves and players of the target audience are very interested in, even when they don't sell 10 million copies.
That was always meant for conservative/liberal soccer moms that were helicopter parents. Puritanism runs deep in the United States and lawmakers go back and forth with moralising many issues especially when it comes to pop culture and its consumption.
@@BleedForTheWorld while the reaction that normally creates these ratings they exist everywhere and are normally good and reduce guess work for parents and sellers.
I’m an adult and I should have the ability to decide what is appropriate for me and my children. The ‘protecting the children’ is a lazy excuse for a lack of being involved in family life.
As a father I agree. But reality sucks. Look no further than TH-cam Kids and your neighbors kids for why rules have to be in place. It's extremely challenging teaching your child why you are right and 10 of their friends and their parents are the ones that are actually wrong.
I disagree with your take. It isn't a lazy excuse for a lack of parenting, it's an oportunity for power. They want control, nothing more, nothing less. They certainly do not care for children, they just want to take down what they don't like, like toddlers throwing a tantrum.
This war is not about "protecting" its about CONTROL. The markets are in a war of control and monopoly of the industry in the background disguised as censorship v1rtue s1gnal1ng
I’m so sick of video game censorship. There is a rating system for a reason. I know this comment has already been made, but I just wanted to comment to show David some love
Your comment doesn't need to be revolutionary; simple and straight to the hard cold fact. Censorship on gaming is bad and that shouldn't be a problem for mature games aimed specifically for an older audience.
Continue to plague would be more accurate. Any game that's not AAA or sponsored by Nintendo gets sent to the hentai game shadowrealm, where no one who wasn't already aware of its existence will find it.
Which is wild because the eshop has straight up pornographic games on it. Apparently if you hide the nudity behind a slide puzzle Nintendo doesn’t know about it.
@swilliams21231 I didn't think it was bad at all, because whilst Mythra and Pura have comically large boobs, the story does not reduce them to that. They're very complex, developed characters. But some people thought it was censor-worthy (Monolith put out an alternative, more tame outfit for Mythra later in an attempt to pacify those people). There is a scene where a robot, designed in the image of a child, says something like "How can I be of service, master?" (It is played off as a joke right after and the guy who programmed the robot to say this gets a bombastic side eye from all other characters, so it's not normalized at all). Some blade designs also offended people. Idk man. Like I said personally I don't mind any of it (much), maybe because I do not feel anything while looking at it? It's just drawings/ 3d renders at the end of the day, i have no sexual desire for fictional characters. I do not need these things to love Xenoblade 2 but I also cannot bring myself to care enough to demand them removed. The game is good because of other things. I love Xenoblade 2. in fact Xenoblade 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Doesn't mean that some of the content doesn't go against Nintendo's strict guidelines, whether I agree with them or not.
That was how it's been going for the duration of the PS5's life cycle, but this kind of came out of nowhere. David's right about one thing: it is concerning, especially since they didn't even specify what the exact issue was.
I feel like as long as your game is rated properly, there is nothing wrong with sexualised content. Some cleavage or shirtless studs isn't gonna kill anyone. As I like to say, Hot characters don't make a good game, but they can make a good game better. Also, it feels like their censorship is very biased with the rampent hentai content on the Eshop.
@therealjaystone2344 So how do we pound the entire industry into submission at once so we have a second Golden Age of all the good stuff and only the good stuff? Just give up on gaming altogether and leave the entire industry to die?
Hi David! Ugh, what's with all the darn censorship? As an adult, I don't need some corporate entity deciding what's appropriate for me and what isn't. Let the developers put out the product they want, and consumers will decide if it's a success or failure with their wallets. Also, CONGRATS ON 90K SUBS! Have a blessed day everyone!
I got Death;End Request Z from Japan, and it's rated Z there, which is the highest rating. So, makes no sense to me that they wouldn't accept the M rating outside Japan. Not sure about the Neptunia games though. Anyways.... I really think they shouldn't care about the rating that much. The games are going to sell anyway. Their target audience on the west won't care about the rating anyways.
This is not confirmed, but from what I understand: Nintendo wanted those games to be M rated in the west due to a few scenes (probably some fanservice scenes with underage-appearing characters), but Idea Factory refused since the games had been rated T or T+ on other platforms. Neither side would budge, so they were canceled.
yes thats what I heard was the issue to. Its not like nintendo didnt wanted the games on the switch they didnt agree with the ratings they where given. And since idea factory didnt wanted to have the rating rechecked just because they dont want the M rating on their games nintendo decided to just block them.
@@goddessstarlaWhile it's not a complete replacement for physical games, PC gamers, like myself, do have GOG. There are a decent number of Ideas Factory titles on there, including the upcoming Tokyo Clanpool.
Im beyond dissappinted. Supported the Switch hardcore this generation because of their policys of allowing adult like content to be allowed. This turn around is extremely dissapointing. Of course it just North America and Europe that have a problem with all of this and not Japan. This truely sucks. The console has parental controls for a reason. I dont even buy western games anymore. So with the lack of The Eastern games coming out I might just be done. We will juat have to see.
Same here. I bought so many games on Switch this generation because I knew I didn't have to worry about censorship, but now with this change in policy, I'm not sure I want to continue forward with Switch. It is concerning.
I remember Mugen Souls getting the uncensored version on switch when even the PC version was censored, and now they aren't even letting these game be released, censored or not. tf is Nintendo smoking?
I really thought Nintendo was over censorship since they've been allowing actual pr0n games on the Nintendo switch. This makes me even more worried that the Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition remake is going to end up censored too.
@@NAzo. Considering what happened with the Switch version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I think it is fair to assume the chest size slider will not be in any region version of Xenoblade X. (In case you didn't know, the Switch port of Tokyo Mirage Sessions in all regions had the same censorships that were only in the western versions when the game originally released on WiiU. Japanese fans were very angry.)
There's a weird pressure in the Western market (as with Dragon Quest 3) to censor at the source, or possibly face the wrath of punishment by destroying something Japanese. Blackmail, basically. Very severe blackmail.
What confuses me about this whole thing is Atelier Yumia's still coming to the West on Switch. For example, it can't be a straight up fanservice ban. That doesn't make sense with how Atelier games operate post Ryza. Fate/Extra Record in January has Tamamo and Nero who flaunt what they've got pretty extensively. After a lot of digging, I did find a common link between all of the games that were cancelled: they have a loli-type character in a get up that may raise an eyebrow from the more sensitive types. To me, that seems like the most likely lead.
That makes sense. But Trails through Daybreak released on the platform just this past July - that would put it after the Neptunia original release date of May 2024. That game has a character named Feri. She is canonically 13. Her standard outfit is fine I think, tho her pants being short could have alrd raised flags for some. But she has an optional outfit that is designed in the image of...an oriental dancer I think? Definitely bot super skimpy (like, it's not a bikini), but it's not covering up the majority of her body either. Which begs the question where they draw the line. Age? Pant/skirt length? Is this a case by case basis? To be clear I couldn't care less what characters are wearing. They could put them in a nun's habit for all I care. I just don't wanna lose fun games with fun stories and fun gameplay, and this has the potential to cause exactly that.
@@oOPrettywinxOo I think where Feri gets off lucky is it's a cosmetic. If it ever became a problem retroactively, they patch it out. Rom and Ram's 2nd HDD forms would require the player to deliberately not use them because they're combat mechanics--mechanics you are incentivized to use in battle to make combat smoother. You can fix a cosmetic, not a character's entire existence. You'd have to delete two major characters and their entire arc because Lowee's arc in Re;birth 2 has a second problem: CFW Trick. CFW Trick admittedly airs a little too close to the sun with the inappropriate jokes involving little girls. The best example I've got for you is the Boondocks. A lot of what was understood as edgy humor back then just doesn't fly by today's media standards. Am I saying it's a good thing? No. Censorship is bad and starting small can always spiral into something way worse later. I'm just trying to make sense of this. The reason I'm so sure it's the lolis is Neptunia Riders is still coming out without issue. Guess which two characters aren't playable? Rom and Ram. I suspect Re;Birth 2 is the issue rather than Re;Birth 1 or 3.
@YigaClanBananaKeeper Most of what you just explained went right over my head because I have actually never played a Neptunia game. 😅 Maybe I should have lead with that, sorry. You're right in that if it became a problem they could just get rid of the dlc costume (if Falcom does it, NISA doesn't have any programmers themselves). I am not sure players would appreciate something they paid for getting removed, but they could issue a refund, and then that is better than getting rid of the game. Not sure how that would work for the mandatory beach scenes in the rest of the series though. But that wasn't really my point. My point was: At a time where they already had an issue with something in Neptunia, Nintendo still allowed Daybreak and its dlc to be released. Meaning while they had an issue with one, at the same time they didn't have an issue with the other. Now like I said I never played these games so idk if the Neptunia games are much worse when it comes to these things. But I was trying to illustrate that the threshold of what is okay and what isn't okay seems to not be very clear-cut which is a problem in and of itself. Cause that way you never know what's OK and what isn't before you get through Nintendo's approval process. And they can also shift that threshold around as they so please. I have no interest in lolis, sexualized or not. I couldn't care less if they had more clothes on. My issue lies with how much harder Nintendo is making this for developers and some won't be willing or able to accommodate them at all, which will result in us not getting games that are otherwise potentially good games at all. Because of some costume choice that I do not care about or agree with. That's frustrating to me.
I cannot believe after all these decades later we still have to deal with this stupid censorship nonsense, especially on games that are 12 PEGI/Teen rated. It's laughable at this point :-)
Thanks for the highlight bud! It really is a slippery slope, and seems a bit odd that Nintendo have put their foot down now when I believe Death End already had a couple of games on the platform?
Yeah that’s the strangest part of it all, those games are already on the system! It just doesn’t make any sense! Thanks for the heads up on this breaking news!
I think it's less of Nintendo and more of Idea Factory themselves considering they completely butchered the localization of the latest game in the series to remove even the slightest "violent" phrases and basically make them kid-friendly for some bizarre reason. Once I saw that article, I completely lost all interest in the game
This is so weird how the censorship thing is fluctuating back to Nintendo..😮 We have a rating system for a reason. I don't like censorship of any kind. I think it is disingenuous to the developers. We don't want the script or content censored.
Considering there are games on the Switch containing full-frontal nudity and sexual content, my guess is that these games must have contained sexually explicit content featuring underage characters. Otherwise it would seem weird for Nintendo to do this because one of the reasons the Switch has been more successful than other modern consoles in recent years is because uncensored versions of games and games that were banned on other platforms are available on the Switch.
Don't conflate Nintendo of Japan with Nintendo of america. Nintendo of America are the ones pushing all the modern-day censorship garbage the West is obsessed with. You know, esg, dei, all that garbage.
Nintendo looks like they are scrambling to clean everything up before the launch of the Switch 2 so it doesn’t end up being a Wii U. They are afraid and trying to close any gap that could cause failure. They don’t realize however, that this act of over policing, may be the very thing that makes the Switch 2 a Wii U.
I feel like something is going on behind the scenes. Nintendo allows straight up Hentai games on the switch but not these? I know the japanese releases of these games ran TERRIBLY on switch and Idea Factory has put out some shoddy ports on switch before so maybe Nintendo has seen enough and doesn’t want buggy, unplayable ports of those games? Idk, very bizarre though. I was looking forward to the new Death End game but I’ll just snag it on PS5.
I kinda agree but from what I have been hearing about that I think it's kinda more of a performance issue than a censorship issue but I'm still gonna observed until there is more info about on what's going on , even the eshop store performance is terrible which is laggy and slowly takes time to scroll down
@@Airwolf2030These are not performance issues. The performance issues people kept talking about are from switch emulators. The games work just fine on native switch. It's the Western branches that are enforcing strict guidelines. If performance issues were the case, then they still wouldn't be releasing it in Japan.
It's moments like this that make me fear 2013 Wii U/3DS era Nintendo returning. Remember when we had entire systems, classes, and dungeons reworked in major RPG releases? Bravely Second - Entire class and character change Fire Emblem Fates -Entire bond touch screen system removed along with characters being completely bastardized. Tokyo Mirage Sessions - Entire dungeon and character arc reworked intro something that completely removed the original characters' purpose and the thematic meaning behind their arc. This is what David means. it's a slippery slope when it comes Nintendo having a say in what's allowed and "acceptable" for a Western audience.
Nintendo have always been censor happy when it comes to their in house games, and i don't think that have ever change. To their credit, in the switch era, they don't mess with other developers. But they still censored their own ips from time to time.
@letterm6656 I think it was much worse during the Wii U era, when they tried to market the Wii U with more of a family first focus. Now it's more so a handful of dialogue changes, rather than changing or removing entire pieces of content.
This is absolutely ridiculous, the entire Switch life cycle has been a great source for ecchi themed games, so why all of a sudden is Nintendo now going back to their old roots of censorship? This has me worried for Switch 2 now. Just really sucks to see games get scrapped like this 🙄

I would be fine with that, if the Japanese versions had English but unfortunately they are in Japanese only as much as I wish I could read I can't. Let's hope they patch the games with the translation so we can import.
@@AtlasNight just searched on Play Asia, but for both Hyperdimension Neptunia and Death end ReQuest Z I'm only finding Japanese versions and no Asian ones, is that something that was announced to come later? I know Tokyo Clanpool has English, but I'm not that interested in that one.

Literally the only thing known about this is that Idea Factory failed to meet content guidelines. That can be anything and everything from mechanical problems (such as stability issues) to misclassification issues (such as content that was excluded in ESRB revoew) to IP law issues (not being covered under a nation's parody laws) to actual content guidelines that go over a store's thresholds for release. As an example, Undertale had trouble initially getting on consoles, because some of the meta elements of that game broke stability guidelines for console games. A crash to desktop moment is legal on PC games (because there is almost no quality control or guidelines on Steam) but doesn't meet console guidelines without heavy modification, because a game intentionally shutting itself down doesn't meet important stability practices. Whether that is to protect some OS layer or just to not make a console look unstable is unknown. People are really beating up a lot of imaginary targets before they have more information, because turning this immediately into a censorship story is more sensational and click-baity. Especially when we're talking about Idea Factory, a company with a history of pretty unstable releases and bad Quality Control. But yeah. This is genuinely some pretty awful reporting.
I hope that doesn't lead to more cancellations. I'll riot if for some reason the upcoming Lunar Remastered Collection gets cancelled. It still doesn't have a definitive release date to my knowledge. It just says Spring 2025 with a release on all platforms and Steam. The Steam store and Playstation store already have preorder pages. If it doesn't come to Switch, I guess I'll get it on Steam but, I'd prefer the Switch release.
Seriously, many of us gamers are mature enough to make that decision for ourselves. To others, less fortunate is decision making, this is why parents/guardians exist.
I'm getting real sick of the modern day trend of being offended by anime girls. In what world does a cartoon girl look anything like a real life child? But oh no, stupid ppl want all Japanese games censored and/or banned because anime girls bad.
Everything goes full circle eventually. Censorship was a major topic of discussion in the 90s, politicians on both sides in the US argued that music/games/comics whatever they felt like was why "kids are in danger". A certain event occured about a week and a half into September 2001, and since then people just kind accept any censorship that comes their way in the US. Growing up, I knew it was all BS and I hated censorship, but for whatever reason a bunch of people in their 20s or even younger seem to be pro censorship. Many parents of kids today too are pro censorship, probably because they are bad parents and not willing to have conversations with their kids about what this stuff means, or too lazy to control what their kids get into. They fell for the propaganda, and I don't think it's any coincidence that one of the largest social media platforms in the world (which over half the US population uses) comes from China, which is historically pro-censorship.
Yeah censorship is on the rise again, for sure. It's always a sign of extremism growing, which...usually doesn't bode well. And anime characters with big boobs that don't even resemble real humans much in how they look or behave are for some reason quite the target now
Doesn't comply with Nintendo guidelines? WHAT GUIDELINES? There are actual porn games on the Switch. This makes me think there is something more going on behind the scenes that neither side wants to discuss.
This was my immediate thought as well. There's way worse stuff on there than any Neptunia game, so claims of censorship may be a bit premature. We know that they've been canceled, but do we actually know it's because of covered anime jumblies?
Trust your instincts. It's very severe blackmail, the same one turning Japan's shrines into LGBTQ cultist areas. Look at what they've done to Dragon Quest 3, and even other releases. There's more pressure, and we have loose ideas as to who is doing it.
90k subs let's goooo *ahem* I remember those dark days of Nintendo censorship and thought they were a thing of the past. So to see it creep back makes me unhappy even if I don't care about the games being affected now.
This terrible censorship is why I still grap games on older platforms and don't throw them away when a "remaster" comes out. While I can understand some of the censorship, I want to be the one to decide if it's bad or not. Someone deciding that for me, someone who probably doesn't share my beliefs, doesn't gel with me.
Honestly we dont know the actual reason why its cancelled. Nintendo guidelines always change yes it could be censorship issues or it could be technical issues for all we know. Also there is a video floating out there that shows why it could have been cancelled as in the video there is point in there where the game runs at a sub 20 framerate
I'm a huge fan of the Neptunia series, I used to have them when I had Steam. It's very sad that it's canceled on Switch... and I also am sick of censorship as well, we have a rating system like many others have said. I really don't want to go back to the 1990s/2000s where games don't get launch in the West because it could offend some people... Honestly, instead of censoring or canceling, just put a "warning" as a compromise.
Vote with your wallets people. The only thing corpos listen to is $$$ and shareholders. Being an adult, ratings matter for a reason. I DONT need a corporation telling me what's best for me .... and especially not MY children. Im their parent NOT YOU !!!! And im an adult and can decide what I WANT to consume... F RIGHT OFF!!!!
If Nintendo has plans to make the 160,000,000 systems sales mark, they should not do this. Censoring these games is NOT a good pitch in marketing point.
This is so ridiculous. I just went to the eShop and did a quick search for "hentai" as you mentioned, and there are like 275 games there with that word in the title.
I just don’t understand developers having these issues. We already have a rating system and with all the “hentai” games on switch how are these games going too far? This flip flopping from Nintendo and Sony with not allowing games is draining. I’ll just buy it on the Japanese eshop or ps5. Japan is having a difficult time lately with their more seductive content all around
As Neptunia fan I can said, the game has a lot of fanservice but still if mild in comparison with what I see with a lot of the nort America games does, so I never gonna understand this “censored Japan games just because” and specifically this make me and a lot of the games fans mad and sad at the same time. PS: thanks god I have the three hyperdimention games in my vita
Nintendo's always been that way. You knew you were getting a family-friendly system when you bought a Switch. You weren't getting it for adult-oriented games, you were getting it for Mario, Zelda, Kirby and Samus.
From what I understand one of the reasons one of games was cancelled by Nintendo wasn't because of their content but because they ran poorly on the Switch. Again, I read that in a Gematsu thread so its provenance might not be all that accurate.
It’s just annoying because it feels like corporations think we’re f*cking kids. Does the movie industry do this sh*t? What about books and music? No. Then why is the game industry the only one like this?
When Nintendo does things like this, I am not surprised. Everyone acts like Nintendo is more open and accepting than Sony, but they forget that Nintendo was the worst about censorship during previous generations. Even as recently as the Wii U, Nintendo was censoring games when bringing them over from Japan. The female bust slider in Xenoblade X and the taming down of the outfits in Tokyo Mirage Sessions come to mind.
These middlemen need to get the hell out of this industry. We have a rating system for a reason. I don't care about the companies and IPs in question, but its the principle of the matter. Let the rating system rate games appropriately. We don't need a third party telling the east what they're allowed to put into their games. Ridiculous.
I don’t know much bout the games but I know Neptunia has characters based on consoles for main characters. My best guess is the one that is supposed to be “Nintendo” is portrayed in a way that has Nintendo’s panties in a bunch lol 😂
This is so unfortunate. Censorship has been part of gaming for most of its lifespan. I wonder if this has anything to do with the conversation around anime and manga being ‘westernized’ as well.
At the exact same time as these cancellations, the upcoming Visual Arts/Key visual novel Holy Undead was delisted (read: banned) from Steam, so there's one more title in this round of censorship. Boggles my mind that the most consumer-friendly DRM store is also the most wildly and unreasonably censorious, and with a Key title of all companies (AND after the Chaos;Head fiasco). This comes on top of the credit card shenanigans impacting actual Japanese web stores the past few months... feels like a dark time.
Some people and regulators are worried about Steam being a monopoly...Things like this just gradually trickle more people to the Steam platform because of shit like this. I used to barely play on Steam 10 years ago, now I almost exclusively do and some of that is from censorship. These anti-consumer practices don't benefit gamers at all. No idea what the brass at Nintendo are thinking.
Im tired of companies trying to censor things they have no buisness doing. Its the parents job to stop their kids from seeing mature stuff. Its why games have ratings! Ratings mean absolutely nothing anymore.
I don’t really buy games from the eShop anymore; my country doesn’t have its own storefront and I have to digitally buy from the other countries, which many of them are one by one restricting shopping from them (you can’t buy from a lot of countries if you don’t have a local credit card, and I don’t want to bother with the gift cards.) A lot of the games I want to play don’t have any physical copies, or even if they do, they tend to be more expensive then the digital options. Because of that, it is much more sensible to buy from other platforms here (my main is PC anyway.) I only buy Nintendo exclusives for the Switch.
i almost to the point of numbness when i comes to news like this. why do game companies listen/hire people who want to alter/censor stuff, they dont even follow their own damn guidlines/rules as one game is fine but another isn't and their is almost no difference in content. also is it just me or do the ratings mean different things now, years ago i would get a Teen rated game and it would have violence, swearing, sexual suggestions, maybe alcohol/drugs, now i feel other then violence those are barely in Mature rated games
I hate censorship. Let adults choose what they consume and let parents decide what their children consume. What is offensive to you doesn't mean it's offensive to someone else- and vice-versa.
This is why Visual Novel like games continue to be obscure genre in the West. Playstation (censorship), Switch (censorship), Steam (censorship). There is literally no market for those kind of games outside of Japan and Asia, because censorship is everywhere.
It seems like there’s nothing that can be done. It’s lots of different companies and so many of us are mad, but they just don’t seem to care. I’d say they should avoid selling on platforms that require them to censor but that’s probably not possible due to loss of money. Idk what can be done
Ikr. I was sad, because Nintendo Switch owners won't be able to play the glorious Nep. Unless, they pirate, import, or do other methods. Plus, some of those games aren't corn.
I find Nintendo's censorship absolutely insane given when I boot up the eShop, half of what I see are adult games and hentai shovelware all lumped in with their "official" offerings.
After what happened with the last DQ The only thing I have to say about this is that money talks, you are all "censorship is bad blah, blah, blah" but in the end you buy censored games, by doing that you are telling SQUARE ENIX, Nintendo and others that it is ok to censor games because you will buy them anyway, and that is ok to block the release of those games that the developers don't want to censor, Nintendo does this because they know that if the developers comply and censor their games the people will still buy those games, you want this to stop? Don't buy censored games, dont buy consoles from companies that have these kind of guidelines and tell them the reason, but we all know that is not going ro happen, next year when Xenoblade Chronicles X gets released censored you all will buy it 😅
Some of you are missing the point. It doesn’t matter if you like IF and Neptunia or not. The point is, if they cancel those, what’s next? Atelier? Trails? Persona? Where does it end?

They were, but policies shift like pendulems
Stellar Blade plus NGS and Last Descendants whales too strong.

Censorship is stupid. If they only want to make games for children I"m not giving them any of my money.
I never thought about it like that, would a re-rating of a game cause it to be Delisted from both Steam and the Vita Storefront

Weird... I thought Nintendo had gotten pretty lax about censorship, like with the Senran Kagura games.
Yeah, the same!
Damn, I thought the Big N had let go of their censoring ways. I mean, hell, was there any backlash against Record of Agarest War on Switch?
Don't conflate Nintendo of Japan with Nintendo of america. Nintendo of America are the ones pushing all the modern-day censorship garbage the West is obsessed with. You know, esg, dei, all that garbage.
Nintendo looks like they are scrambling to clean everything up before the launch of the Switch 2 so it doesn’t end up being a Wii U. They are afraid and trying to close any gap that could cause failure. They don’t realize however, that this act of over policing, may be the very thing that makes the Switch 2 a Wii U.
@destructodisk9074 Now watch them call it the "Switch U." 😉
It's moments like this that make me fear 2013 Wii U/3DS era Nintendo returning. Remember when we had entire systems, classes, and dungeons reworked in major RPG releases?
Bravely Second - Entire class and character change
Fire Emblem Fates -Entire bond touch screen system removed along with characters being completely bastardized.
Dude, you’re by far the best RPG coverage and your attitude is infectious. Well deserved 90k and more.
This is absolutely ridiculous, the entire Switch life cycle has been a great source for ecchi themed games, so why all of a sudden is Nintendo now going back to their old roots of censorship? This has me worried for Switch 2 now. Just really sucks to see games get scrapped like this 🙄

Someone in the comments claimed these games run poorly on Switch, think the MK1 and Ark debacles.

That would be weird, since the games were originally on PS3, and the Switch is stronger than the PS3..
@@goddessstarla From what I read it's about the quality of the port that was the issue not the capability of the Switch to run the game.
All those hentai games on the eshop make them look like clowns.
Tbf idea factory game sucks. It just their fault to not up the rating.
Been looking forward to these titles since they were first announced. Super bummed about it. Hopefully the Japan or Asia physicals get english.
I know, it's a real shame!
Congratulations for 90k subs!
Thank you so much!
Man i love Neptunea and since they will be on the ps they will be censored to hell, this censorship thing is becoming a problem
I'm a fan of the series too, I dislike censorship....
Ah, the classic Sega tagline. That brings me back.
I love the rebirth series, they are funny, and such a great story. Sounds to me like another reason to not pickup my switch again.
LOL they have freaking HENTAI games ALL OVER the Eshop, yet they have a problem w these games?? 😅
Talk about making zero logical sense!
Wonder if theres any truth to comments about there being a disagreement between the companies about the rating and niether side wanting to budge
This is an outrage! Just got Rebirth1 on Vita. Its tame. What's next? No Atelier, Persona, SMT?
Wonder if it's because rebirth 2 and 3 have Rom and Ram and CFW Trick
These middlemen need to get the hell out of this industry. We have a rating system for a reason. I don't care about the companies and IPs in question, but its the principle of the matter. Let the rating system rate games appropriately. We don't need a third party telling the east what they're allowed to put into their games. Ridiculous.
I don’t know much bout the games but I know Neptunia has characters based on consoles for main characters. My best guess is the one that is supposed to be “Nintendo” is portrayed in a way that has Nintendo’s panties in a bunch lol 😂
I saw someone say this could be due to exreme performance issues instead of censorship.
If these games end up on the Switch 2, we'll have our answer.
Congrats on 90K, David! 🎉
Thank you!
I propose that the Healthcare CEO is also applied to certain people
i almost to the point of numbness when i comes to news like this. why do game companies listen/hire people who want to alter/censor stuff, they dont even follow their own damn guidlines/rules as one game is fine but another isn't and their is almost no difference in content. also is it just me or do the ratings mean different things now, years ago i would get a Teen rated game and it would have violence, swearing, sexual suggestions, maybe alcohol/drugs, now i feel other then violence those are barely in Mature rated games
I hate censorship. Let adults choose what they consume and let parents decide what their children consume. What is offensive to you doesn't mean it's offensive to someone else- and vice-versa.
I am surprised. Nintendo was against censorship a few years ago. They said it themselves.
This is why Visual Novel like games continue to be obscure genre in the West. Playstation (censorship), Switch (censorship), Steam (censorship). There is literally no market for those kind of games outside of Japan and Asia, because censorship is everywhere.
Congrats on getting 90k subs David! Good luck on getting 100k soon!
Fingers crossed!
It seems like there’s nothing that can be done. It’s lots of different companies and so many of us are mad, but they just don’t seem to care. I’d say they should avoid selling on platforms that require them to censor but that’s probably not possible due to loss of money. Idk what can be done
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ The 80’s and the 90’s I miss them so much ❤
I thought this was settled with the creation of the ESRB. I abhor censorship
😊 congrats on reaching 90k!
Ikr. I was sad, because Nintendo Switch owners won't be able to play the glorious Nep. Unless, they pirate, import, or do other methods.
Plus, some of those games aren't corn.
We live in a society and nobody is doing anything about it
I find Nintendo's censorship absolutely insane given when I boot up the eShop, half of what I see are adult games and hentai shovelware all lumped in with their "official" offerings.
Don't buy censored games, dont buy consoles from companies that have these kind of guidelines and tell them the reason, but we all know that is not going ro happen, next year when Xenoblade Chronicles X gets released censored you all will buy it 😅
_If_ it gets released!
I wonder if Nintendo is becoming more strict due to the ever approaching Switch 2
