@@pharmcat8484 about 4% closer since the last time I mentioned it, but I absolutely challenge jimmy to play the first hour of discworld without a guide.
Publishers don’t have realistic sales expectations, like there’s an infinite number of people willing to buy the same game over and over again. They just need a small dev team with a modest budget and make something they’re passionate about.
Legend has it that in the pitch meeting with Konami that Hideo Kojima walked up to a white board and without saying anything wrote "Metal Gear Solid" then with a single stroke turned it into "Metal Gear $olid". All the executives clapped and gave him carte blanche.
I miss the golden age of Tetris-style block droppers. Intelligent Qube was such a great and original take on the genre. I wish the US got the sequels Japan did. Games like that used to come out constantly, but nowadays, block droppers and match 3 games have been condemned to free-to-play hell on mobile. The last truly great one was the Lumines series, though the Shovel Knight spin-off was pretty decent. Still, you won’t find Sony or other major devs coming close to that style.
I know it's not everybodys cup of tea, but I'd like to see a remake of Soviet Strike. I missed out on both Nuclear Strike and Desert Strike so if it was possible to have all three in a "box set", I'd buy it.
7:32 naughty dog won’t go back because the minds behind jak &daxter aren’t with naughty dog. The minds behind jak & daxter, however, did continue on with the series with Daxter. This game takes place and time between the end of the first game and the beginning of the second game.
one time I won a video game contest at Rodgers video in Canada ( blockbuster competition) and one of the prizes I won as a child was a man's large die hard trilogy game tank top. never played the game as Iwas a child, but had a branded shirt like the one he had in the films
I played Die Hard Trilogy 1 and 2 on PlayStation and in the arcade when I was a kid.i remember playing the driving parts on PS1 with my brother was awesome.i even remember thinking to myself wow they got all this on one game?
The ending made me feel so empty inside man. Both the normal and "good" endings. The characters are so interesting. I really wanted to help Sayori with her depression and Yuri with her anxiety. A shame.
I am still wondering how the Deception/Kagero games were made in their time so I would not know if they could be made now or not or if it could have been made even when it was under slightly different circumstances. It is a series about villains luring heroes into a series of complicated chains of traps by using themselves as bait.
Listen, I’m a woman and I beat Parasite Eve Third Birthday litterally 50 Just for the Gunblade and Lightning outfit, and to confirm the Shower Scene that was hidden after the 50 runs was actually there before it was like uploaded to TH-cam cuz the game so was so obscene despite having the Aya Bria outfit for Lightning. THERES TWO of us that love this game >:c
There were talks about a Parasite Eve remake somewhere in 2021. But we all know the current Square. And I wish they rather didn't. On the other hand, there's Sukeban and .45 Parabellum Bloodhound and it looks like they nailed it.
I got point blank from my 13th birthday and me and my friends spent so many hours playing that game!! I still have the advanced AV pack that I had to buy because my TV did not have coaxial ports on it. I was running it through my VCR and so I had to have this special Cable that's now probably worth a little bit? I don't kno? But it's still in good condition.
On the same note with vib-ribbon game. I don't think monster rancher will hold up as well; since you need to switch game disc or CDs to obtain monsters
If not talking consoles, I am betting that Android/iOS invizimals battle of hunters was the last real turn based game published by Sony. Though its very vaguely 'turn based' and is more like an ABS open arena game with a legend of Mana style power-meter that needs to fill to act if I recall right? If it had to be on an 'Actual Platform' then probably them publishing Moe Chronicle on Vita, a first person turn based dungeon crawler that is upsettingly waifu loaded. Though if memory serves that was only for the... Japan release? Or was it the Asian release? Well I believe its since gotten a PC release.
Xenogears is another one. Imagine walking into Square Enix today and pitching a sci-fi Biblical allegory, that's also heavily inspired by gnostic mysticism and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Plus it has giant robots, and it's a turn-based quasi-ARPG. They'd look at you like your brains were leaking out your nose.
Xenogears almost didn’t get made. It was initially proposed as FF7, but was rejected as it was considered too ambitious and risky. Luckily FF7 made so much money that the rejected project got a second shot, becoming xenogear
Trap Gunner getting a nod here is great. Awesome game. Had so much fun playing it to the point where I would try and design my own ideas on paper back then. I think I still have those ideas written somewhere!
the point about MGS is that you wouldn't really get a big publisher today backing a guy in a massive way who's only ever made cult 2D games and never a mainstream megahit it'd be like, I dunno, Lucas Pope getting a 100m budget
@Cultured Vultures If you enjoyed Parasite Eve then check out a future game coming out called .45 PARABELLUM BLOODHOUND. It is inspired by Parasite Eve, The Developer is Sukeban Games who created VA-11 Hall-A
1:27 I have never enjoyed a game like MGS! Psycho Mantis absolutely terrified me and amazed me! MGS is one of the things I feel absolutely happy about experiencing back in the day🥺 it was such a mood and really one of a kind like Cowboy bebop anime.

I just need a place to rant about GEX 2. The camera is main villain in the game. Its so much better than the original Gex but SO MUCH WORSE. Why is it like this?! A decent camera and the game is half as long as it is. 3 camera options and they only work SOME of times. The platforming isnt bad but LORDY. Alright thanks.
Trap Gunner seems like such a fun game wow! First time hearing of it here and a big fan of Bomberman 64 makes me want it and game with my wife or bro…most likely bro haha
Don’t be dumb they’re not gonna make a last of us part two remaster part three. It’s gonna be the last of us part two remake. That’s always the next step.
Unpopular opinion: I find the Psycho Mantis fight silly to the game’s detriment. When he called out my Castlevania: SotN save or made me move the controller to port 2, it didn’t make me feel more immersed or a part of the game. (Don’t even get me started on his display of telekinetic powers by telling me to put the controller on the table to he can move it with the rumble feature. So dumb.) It completely took me out of it. I find the whole concept of him too clever by half.
Wait you didn't get the tone of the game was absurdist by the time you got to Mantis? It never tried to be immersive, just quirky and weird for the sake of weird.
@ it’s more accurate to say the Psycho Mantis’s 4th wall breaking was the wrong kind of weird for the game. It’d be like if Deadpool popped up in Infinity War and started making a bunch of meta jokes while everyone was being snapped away.
Any other PS1 games you don't think we'd see today? Drop them

I can explain all of those games in 1 sentence :
"Limitation makes creativity"
It's not that people can't be creative, it's that it doesn't PAY to be creative

So that’s why Solid Snake was voiced by Sigourney Weaver!

Fear effect defined the 90s cyberpunk theme, it had that Snatcher, Matrix and Ghost in the Shell vibe
