Update - Ys X Proud Nordics is apparently a stepping stone to put the Falcom development team on course to release 2 games annually, which is the ultimate vision for the near future. It's worth noting that Falcom 'have' done stuff like Nordics Proud before (this is what I get for filming this as soon as I woke up). Ys VIII had added content for the PS4 launch in regards to Dana's timeline, and Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ had new story elements added too. Though the difference is that both Tokyo Xanadu and Ys VIII only released on Vita first, whereas Ys X Nordics released on multiple platforms.
2 games a year is crazy for their size. I really wish they wouldn't crank out games that fast, you can see shortcuts taken because of the short dev cycle. Hopefully this means they will remake all of sky and possibly crossbell, because I can't imagine they have enough IPs to release 2 games a year.
Proud Nordics as a name sounds like a new release, the Content written in that post sounds more like a Content DLC, but as far as i can remember, and please correct me if i'm wrong, even Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana had an initial release without the Dana Gameplay Sequences which were later added but our western release was based on that, so we only ever gotten the true complete version. do i look forward to it anyways? sure! i do wonder though, if it's gonna be a standalone game, might it turn into a Launch Title for the Switch 2, which sees more and more News (in forms of Leaks) these days? i'd love to see Nihon Falcom be part of the release titles for the Switch 2, they earned it well enough!
@@bryanbahantka6969I personally would like a Trails character more tho nonetheless I welcome Adol or any Falcom character for smash really. Hopefully it really does happen.
I've had a few friends tell me they saw the trailer and thought it looked good. As if I haven't been talking nonstop about Trails to them for the past seven years!
Interesting note about GungHo: according to their about us (for the US side), they're headed by Jun Iwasaki, formerly president of XSEED. Found that interesting.
That is interesting. But it's also with noting they are responsible for doing the upcoming Lunar Remastered Collection too, so we're going to see their work really soon.
According to their wiki article, the company is more known for MMOs and online games. But they have been around for a long time, so they should be pretty stable.
Really, really excited for the remake!! Definitely my most anticipated game for next year. Worldwide release announcement felt like Falcom giving us an early Christmas gift.
The sky graphics look so good. SO good. That dropkick left me grinning ear to ear. As much as I love the sprites from the original this is such a great move for more accessibility for potential new Trails fans. Its unfortunate about Kato, hopeful that he rests in peace
@@yongkysiaw6597Correct. I’d love to see them do a remake for the Crossbell duology as well (being my favorite) but idk given they brought it he game to modern consoles already. I just hope the remake sells well enough that they out the resources into the next two Sky games. It’s be a real shame if they stopped at just the first
@spotter93r6 they've started the first. At worse they would stop at two of things don't go well but the trails hype is kinda crazy right now so no way the sales would be disappointing.
So glad Falcom is picking up more steam with developers and fans. So much love goes into these games and I can only imagine how far they will go. Thanks for the updates!
Since this is a remake and has already been translated and they're seemingly working off the XSEED script I don't see why not. The typical roadblocks of a Trails game development cycle aren't here for this game. Hopefully NISA takes note but as they still aren't caught up doesn't matter.
As long as Falcom stays true to its promise of a worldwide release, then I think the Sky FC Remake will definitely become the best selling entry in the franchise, I wouldn’t be surprised if it surpassed Romancing SaGa’s average sales for their new entries, just because the barrier of entry there is much higher when obtuse gameplay mechanics tends to alienate all but the series’s most dedicated fans. If it successfully launches as a worldwide release, then this game will get more free media attention than any past Falcom installment. New Trails games have dedicated fans among the staff at every major video game media outlet, including IGN and Gamespot. As long as it doesn’t release alongside a major AAA title like Ghost of Yotei or Assassin’s Creed, then the reviews and coverage will be everywhere for at least a few days-both through game reviews as well as articles celebrating the fact that Nihon Falcom successfully launched its first worldwide release (Atlus’ Persona 5 Royal and Dragon Quest XI received similar coverage with their first worldwide release for their respective series). Yakuza like a Dragon’s success is also largely tied to the series now being able to launch internationally, which moved them out of the “niche” category that the previous Yakuza games were in. But Falcom needs to be ready to hit the ground running, so I don’t see a scenario where they aren’t at least 40-50% done with the development of SC’s Remake by the time FC releases in Fall 2025. Forcing new players to wait for too long, after witnessing the FC’s major cliffhanger of an ending, for the first time, would really take the wind out of their sails due to the presence of spoilers from the original trilogy being all over the web. They may say subsequent Remakes are sale-dependent, but you don’t start Remaking a trilogy and stop after the first game-if they did that, they would lose any chance they had of successfully establishing itself in the western market. Imagine if Square Enix decided not to finish their FFVII Remake Trilogy just because of Rebirth’s underwhelming sales… The company’s stock would tank, and FFXVII’s reception would be far worse than FFXVI’s, and public opinion among past fans would eye them in the same light as Konami, which is a hole that Falcom would have no chance at climbing out of. In fact, I would bet money that part of the reason Rebirth’s sales fell flat relative to Remake, despite being an objectively better game, was due to the very lengthy 4-year wait fans were subjected to. They may opt against Remaking the subsequent arcs, but I really don’t see a world where they decide they can just stop after Sky FC and leave it at that. Now, if the game does sell as well as expect it to, then they would naturally need to move on to Remaking Cold Steel-at least CSI & CSII-and possibly the Crossbell duology as well. Although, I would say the Zero and Azure ports are more aesthetically pleasing than both CSI and CSII. For new players, those PS3-era graphics and plain 3D environments won’t cut it compared to a fully realized rendition of Liberl in 3D. If they really want new players to continue playing the series, Cold Steel Remakes will be a must. After which, I wouldn’t be surprised if they upscaled the 3D assets from Reverie and just went ahead and made Zero and Azure Remakes. Falcom will be catering to a very different audience by that point. Their fans have been the kind that willingly reads fan translations through an Excel spreadsheet on one monitor while playing the game on a second screen, or that instead uses a glitchy overlay program. At best, they used a third-party patch found in a random 4Chan user’s Google drive folder. Their new audience will be expecting updated graphics, or a unique art style to compensate for its visual handicaps, characters that are fully voiced in English, as well as the continuation of a simultaneous worldwide release schedule. When you think about all of that, being able to finally enter the series with Trails in the Sky will be insufficient, they will also need to make the rest of the series look and feel on par with the Sky Remakes.
And if it’s really successful, don’t be surprised if there’s a hiatus between the end of current arc and the last, or second-to-last, arc. Should the Sky Remakes leas to a significant increase in their fanbase, Falcom will most likely double down and choose to focus all development efforts, for Trails, towards remaking all four arcs-or at least remaking the first three arcs, and then remastering + fully voicing the Calvard arc. I would expect them to release a new entry every 6-12 months, possibly, or taking longer to bundle CSI and CSII into a single game to avoid burnout among new fans, as well as Zero and Azure. If that’s the case, then I doubt the story would move forward for a while, even in Japan-which, honestly, enables Falcom to bide its time as the Remakes slowly catch up, rather than feeling the need to release filler entries simply because they haven’t laid out a concrete plan for the company to finish the story of Zemuria and move on to new things.
when you realize the Cold Steel series is going to be "outdated" graphical character models which is a weird thing to say out loud. this might be one of the greatest game announcements in the last 10-15 yrs. i saw the Trails 1st trailer early today and lost my mind.
I'm so happy right now. We are going to be eating good next year! I hope they have a smooth release for this. It has the potential to be a breakout title for Falcom.
Man, you are QUICK with these 😂 So much great stuff and Sky the 1st keeps looking better and better ❤ might be a hot take but I don't mind the "Cold Steel-ification" with the link style attacks (and what looks like a burst mechanic) I think it'll simply serve to enhance the gameplay without treading over established lore I'm excited to see more of Proud Nordics too, I just hope it won't be a full on new release with no way for previous owners to upgrade.
I really hope that they have the Ys Proud Nordics version as an upgrade as well. Especially considering that they just released it here in the west recently.
Agreed. I don't want them to start acting like Atlus and locking off new content to a whole new purchase. Have it in a whole package with the game, but also sell it as DLC for existing owners.
At least Atlus waits a couple of years. This is so quick that it can't be seen as anything more than a cashgrab. I'll buy the upgraded version if it costs a lot less for those that already bought it, but won't buy the whole game again
@@bluegrave4376 it is only "quick" for us in the west. For the Japanese it has been over a year already. Still, you will need to translate the new portions too. So, the release on our side might still be months after the JP one again.
The Trails/sky games coming to a modern console is literally a dream come true. Getting 1st chapter and the Suikoden 1 and 2 remaster next year is insane to me!
I am annoyed at the existence of Ys X Proud Nordics because the international version literally only came out two months ago and I even pre-ordered it and loved the ever living heck out of the released product. I absolutely will not but it if it is a standalone game, but I will consider it if they release it as DLC for the original.
I'm indifferent for this reason, we're not sure if it's a DLC or a new release. I'm leaning towards new release because it's an 'enhanced version' of the game, but I want to see more on it first.
@@TheKisekiNut I would prefer if it's a season pass or a large DLC expansion that can be downloaded and installed onto the base game. Doesn't make sense to re-release a game with additional stuff at full price.
I'm ordering a Steam Deck tomorrow and for sure this will be one of the games I'll be playing on it. Never played the Trail series so hoping I can - fingers crossed - play all the remakes for a definitive experience.
I know you'll have fun. My Steam Deck reignited my interest in PC gaming. Made me decide to never buy another 3rd party game on Switch. Just learn how to play around with settings, user mods and such because the Deck can be a little finicky. Mine had a bug where it was crashing due to the adaptive brightness sensor, so I just disabled it in the settings and now it works perfectly.
I'm very saddened to hear about Masayuki, and honestly concerned about how faithfully Falcom will continue in the direction he envisioned. You hear about too many companies changing policies when changing hands, and I admit Falcom, for me at least, has always been that top developer to look up to, and I've always had this irrational fear of what will happen to it in the event of Masayuki retiring or dying. I guess now I'll find out if my fear was unfounded or not, at least.
GungHo is actually pretty decent publisher imo. Not to mention worldwide AND multiplatform on release, that's basically unheard of when it comes to Falcom. I haven't been hyped for a new game, well, remake in this case, this much in a long while, definitely buying it on steam, hope they remake the rest of trilogy and keep GungHo as publisher. Also wtf, an Ys game getting direct sequel? Interesting, well, i loved Nordics so gonna look forward to that, wonder if they'll pull something wild like making a cameo character the third mana wielder.
I don't think you need to worry about GungHo America, it is led by the same man who once founded XSEED Games back in 2004 (Jun Iwasaki) Before he founded XSEED he was the president of Square Enix U.S.A
@@TheKisekiNut It also appears to be that for the first time in years, the PC port of a modern Falcom game is not done by Durante and crew. There's a good chance that the Sky FC remake will be a lot more bare bones compared to the Cold Steel, Crossbell and Daybreak ports. Guess we'll have to see how it plays out.
It's probably safe to say that all three Trails in the Sky games are going to be remastered (which is nice because I haven't watched walkthroughs for them yet), so I wonder if they plan on remastering the Crossbell games as well. I'm hoping Trails of Cold Stell 1 and 2 will be available in English for the Switch sometime soon.
Really excited for this remake, after hearing so many good things about this series i decided to jump in, bought all the games so far on the playstation platform starting from the vita version of the sky and i just finished chapter 2 from Sky FC and so far been enjoying a lot.
Is Ys X Proud a DLC, or just new version? I would hate it if they start doing the whole "We made something that could have been like at most £15 of DLC but you have to buy the whole game with no discount thing"
In regards to Tokyo Xanadu K / Kyoto Xanadu, I suspect we'll have some news on it within Q1 2025. I'm mainly basing this off of the fact that Falcom announced it in Q1 of last year, and Tokyo Xanadu's switch port was announced in Q1 of 2023. Far from a guarantee of course, but I do think it's worth noting that recent years' Tokyo Xanadu announcements fell outside of the yearly shareholder meetings. As for other things, my main concern with Sky 1C (is how I'm abbreviating it to distinguish it from the original FC) has been addressed: There will be an English dub. But what took me REALLY by surprise is not only the additional languages, but the fact it's day and date not just worldwide, but also WITH THE PC VERSION. I just hope it'll be... decent, assuming PH3 is not involved. As for Ys, it's kind of peculiar. There was supposedly an announcement for Memories of Celceta getting a switch port, but I haven't seen anything regarding a press release, so no clue what's up with that. Did expect it to happen at some point though. Ys X: Proud Nordics meanwhile is... kind of painful to hear, not even 2 months after the original came out in the west, ngl. But who am I kidding, I'm going to get it anyway. I suspect that platforms have yet to be specified because, like with Ys VIII and Tokyo Xanadu when they got upgraded versions, it's being brought to an additional platform. We just have to wait for Nintendo to reveal their new system. More info will likely follow suit. (I just hope the new content isn't stuck on just the Switch Successor. Like, PS5 and PC at LEAST.) Edit: But ultimately, the biggest and most important news for me by and far is one, simple, thing: Kai's sequel was not mentioned, at all. And now there's an astronomical chance of the west being caught up before Kai's sequel comes out. And I am very, VERY happy.
I'm extremely torn because I like Ys X so much that it's in my top 3 this year, but I REALLY hate seeing other companies pull a fucking Atlus. I really fucking hate this business practice of re-releasing the same game but with a bit of extra content at full price. They really need some kind of upgrade option to smooth this over for me, opinion-wise. Hopefully they choose the sensible option or else I'm going to have to stop buying Ys at full price just like all Atlus games.
GungHo said it's a whole new localization for English, German and French. They are probably able to pull a WW release just because 90% of the script was ready to be worked on already, but hopefully the dialogues don't take too much of a hit.
I’d never heard of GungHo, but it seems like they’ve been around a while but under the radar. If this is a worldwide release, it makes me think they’re able to use the existing localization as a base
One thing about lunar is that they already have the first game of the collection done and available to play on Android and iOS. From what I've seen the translation is fairly good and uses the translation from the PSP version of the silver star story
i hope it sells well. id love to see all 3 remade but i would settle for the first two. usually i wait for a steam sale but this will not be the case with this game. i will be supporting them on a day one release.
@@TheKisekiNut i started playing these a few years ago. currently on chapter 6 of trails of cold steel one. its been a wild ride and has surpassed the suikoden series as my favorite jrpg series of all time.
They have become my favorite game company over the past year. I have played, non stop, all the Ys and Trails games I could get my hands on. Finally caught up with all the Trails and Ys games and now ready to go for the new ones coming. Such a great company.
Can't wait for Sky first chapter remake! I just started playing trails games last year(Currently at chapter 4 of Azure). So glad I decided to go down the rabbit hole.
Anything releasing on "Switch" hardware should automatically be release on PS4 IMO. I am getting Trails 1st on PC (because ALL my Trails games are there and I want them ALL in one platform), but I'm sad that PS4 owners won't get a chance to play this when it launches. :(
about the re release and falcom adding I think about Lacrimosa of dana and how they added the content about dana and Io that wasn't in orginal game if I recall, honestly I enjoyed the game a lot but the content they added contributed a lot to my enjoyment like having a character having several fighting style and additional bit of story, I'm really a sucker for that
RIP Masayuki 🙏 Out of curiosity, what was that part about “he wasn’t perfect”. Did something happen? I’m very new to the community. I played Ys VIII this past summer and enjoyed it so much I played 5 more Ys games and now 6 Trails games. Playing through Cold Steel 2 atm and purchased every available Trails and Ys game. They’re all fantastic.
basically he wants to keeps cost low and made many conservative decisions in business. Falcom's employee numbers remain surprisingly low because of this. Falcom employees are overused and they didn't get paid well enough for their jobs. I expect this to change so it's very good news hearing the shareholder meeting is releasing more games. I hope they will be more successful in the future
@@blacksun4268 Thanks for the info! Yeah, I’m very hopeful that Falcom games start getting more attention in general. They definitely deserve it. These games are some of the best I’ve ever played. I also hope the devs are respected and treated fairly for their incredible work. They also deserve it.
I'm happy but also apprehensive about french subtitles for FC remake because it's not the first time for the series, Trails of Cold steel 3 also had a french translation but it was so bad I switched it back to english before the end of Chapter 1 (it even made me miss a quest because the tranlation of items was inconsistent). The translation from "bracers" to "brazzers" was very funny though.
How are there Trails fans who didnt like Daybreak's combat? Its literally just the logical evolution of the field attacks + turn based combat we've seen since Crossbell.
I didn't like the whole shards system in Daybreak and the boosting mechanic. The action battle system was not really that in depth and the whole battle system was also not balanced really well.
@@zillo1600and what exactly are you comparing daybreaks unbalanced system too? Reverie? The 10th iteration of that specific battle system? That's rich.
The only dislike I have with Daybreak’s combat is no more post battle victory quips, I do really enjoy those and missed them in Daybreak. Overall that’s a minor complaint though and really enjoyed Daybreak’s combat. It felt more streamlined, like being able to move and attack in the same turn. And removing unnecessary moves like Brave Orders (cool idea, in practice I only ever used maybe 10 at best.)
Keep in mind that sales expectations aren't always realistic when it comes to game companies. 80,000 units is a lot if you expect it around there. But if you expect 100,000+ then 80,000 is still "bad". Let's hope they have some sane expectations.
Dang it... I'm about halfway through Ys X. If I choose to stop now, I hope there's some way to import my save... Hope it's an update rather than a seperate release.
Any thoughts on what they may do about a collectors edition in Europe I know limited run are doing the us which concerns me we may not get one which would be very frustrating
I'm not too concerned with the localizer, but I am concerned if the PC ports will still be done by Durante. In an age where Square Enix hasn't delivered a single non-mediocre product on PC in several decades and still continues to deliver dogwater ports, Falcom games having such fantastic PC ports has no doubt helped their games thrive very well.
I absolutely adore the Sky trilogy, and I am so excited for this remake. I'll be buying on Switch, but I'm really pleased to see it come to other platforms too; being on multiple platforms should help it sell better which will hopefully see SC and the 3rd get remade too.
2024 was the year I bought all of Ys and 2025 will be the year I buy all of Trails. I also bought Xanadu Next and the Zwei!! games. I also plan on getting Tokyo Xanadu. Falcom's getting all of my money next year.
Important to say the English trailer says it comes out in fall 2025 but the Japanese one doesn't specify. They probably haven't decided if they want to go simultaneous or if it would sell more in a different time slot. i.e Golden Week.
In Daybreak I like using the Field Action combat to dwindle down the enemies health before fully engaging the command battle. Also Trials in the Sky 1st Chapter makes me wonder if more Legend of Heroes games are going to be getting this new coat of paint, I really hope so. Cause Trials of Cold Steel is my favorite, I really like the Erebonia arc. But it'd also be cool to see all the games centered around the Crossbell Arc also get the same treatmeant. Also I Paused at exactly 7:15 to write my comment and that shot has me cracking up already. I thought that scene was decent in the original game but I'm really glad the full comedy of that scene can be explored with the new engine they're using from the Daybreak series. Also noticed in the trailer the Feild Combat stuff kind of looks like Y's combat.
So hyped for Sky remake, the facial animations in the young Estelle and Joshua were the best I have seen from Falcom so far! I really liked the combat of Daybreak also and especially the Quartz system. A lot of people said it barely did anything and I could not disagree more. It took some of the niche quartz that wasted build slots and just built it directly into the bonuses like moon lens and for others it made them useful by making them multi element to enhance greater build bonuses "chefs kiss"! It was the first Legend of heroes game that felt properly balanced to me, as I couldn't just spam super moves to win on the highest difficulty like I did in the others. So if they bring that levels of commitment and balance to Trails of the Sky, I couldn't ask for more. Now the one thing I will curse them to my grave if they bring, and I bet they will, is the god-damn bonding system. I just want to play a game to the end and see everything, is that so much to ask?!?!?! If they don't have it and people realize how much better paced the game is without it, I hope people put it in their reviews... "stares menacingly"! haha
Aww but bonding events are some of my favorite moments in Trails. Yes most of them have little impact on the story, but it’s those quiet, peaceful moments with characters that really makes me fall in love with the characters. It’s what helps me get more emotionally invested in Trails than any other RPG series I’ve played. I’m not trying to say your opinion is wrong or anything, we all enjoy the games in our own way and that’s cool. I don’t think you need bonding events in the Sky remake either, there’s enough bonding built into the story already. For example, the Sky SC scene where Estelle and Kloe talk in the Jenis Academy theater is one of my favorite Trails scenes, and is pretty much a bonding event in all but name.
I think it's very likely that Kyoto Xanadu will be shown for the 1st time at the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation if it's also launching next year. Trails in the Sky 1st looks fire and will be my 1st Falcom game, also probably the best selling falcom game of all time.
3:37 What is the title of this rendition of the song playing? I only know the harmonica version, the music box version, and the full, voiced song. I'm always interested in more renditions of The Whereabouts of Light.
I wish they would remaster, many of their older games that either didn't come west or got very limited releases. Especially the pre-Trails Legend of Heroes games.
Interesting Gungho is doing Sky not xseed or nisa. I saw standard is retail like amazon and CE is limited run which sucks but i guess better than nothing. Im not a fan that proud nordics isnt just an expansion tho. Gungho listens to fans tho and i even won a competition with this for grandia anniversary
SO excited for trails 1 remake. Sky fc and especially sc are by far my fave trails games. Really hope they keep the difficulty options. I like jrpgs with a bit of bite to em :)
I've been confident about Sky coming to PS5 at launch. The trailer looked great. And the music was 🔥. I don't have a gaming pc, so I'm so happy to have all my trails games on one console.
Now for the 3-4 year waiting period until the announcement of remakes of Zero & Azure. They already created more than half the assets for them in Reverie. Then they might need to remaster (not remake) CS1-2 to eliminate some awkward 3D (spoon hands Rean, Alisa's mother with the broken wrist, etc.). The "where to begin" question will remain until the entire continuous series is "modern", where some people no longer feel the need to bypass the "old school" / "retro". I loved all the "old school" / "retro" Trails games, but many others can't or don't want to get into them.
I think it's quite fitting that Gungho is handling the release of Sky 1st for the west since they've got Grandia and Lunar under their belts; two franchises that Sky is often compared to in the best way.
Got really lucky with that SkyFC announcement, when it showed up in a direct (I was so mad it was in the sizzle real not an actual part of it with it's own minute to shine) I was just starting SkySC
I started trails with azure on switch I've watched story videos for the sky trilogy before playing azure but it's not like playing the game and I can't really remember a lot but now I've played azure cold steel 1to 3 and I finished cold steel IV 2 or 3 months ago. I'm going to do reverie next in a few months, and then daybreak. I can't wait to finally play sky the 1st and I hope they'll make 2 and 3 too.
I'm a little worried about GungHo being named. Both grandia and lunar were given to limited run games for physical releases. Grant you, I personally don't have an issue with limited run games but it does scare me that we only have a month to pre-order the game and wait 6 to 12 months for the physical copy
@TheKisekiNut Same. I've used them a few times as well. Eventually I get the collection but it's the waiting period. You seem to forget after 3 to 6 months that you even ordered something
@@Eagleknight815 Not defend LRG but people use to wait years. 3 to 6 months to get a preorder isn't bad considering they're made to order. You're waiting for your copy to literally be manufactured just for you. Their shipping sucks though. My copy of clock tower rewind JUST shipped and it was in "ready to ship" status for a whole month
@@SomeRetroGuy I could of sworn LRG and GungHo announced it the day or or day after on social but I couldn't find it besides in my comments on 9/24. So that may change and if so, Im good with that personally. and maybe you're right on the waiting being better than what we seen over the last couple of years. However, you also had NISA with pretty good record of their collector editions so my doubt is still there with it comes to Sky 1st.
I really hope this will be the big breakthrough falcom deserves, but it's not gonna be easy. Of course needless to say, the old and outdated visually was a big reason why many people, even jrpg players, weren't too hot on getting into it despite the pretty good reputation this serie has, so a wall got broken here. But the first game in itself it's still kind of a prologue. You meet a bunch of people, do some fun stuff, solve some fairly minor problems and continue on your journey. I loved how much time it took to properly introduce and make you grow attached to the characters while building up on the more important stuff that will developpe in SC, but i'm also someone who loves long-ass Visual novels like Umineko. And unfortunately for us, that is not what the majority of people enjoy. I hope to be wrong, but most people may think the story lack big moments, find it boring and forget about it by the time SC remake comes out (which I assume can be pretty fast since the vast majority of characters and places are the same as FC). If the gameplay is really good and the ending scene is memorable enough, it might make even the less invested people play the 2nd game tho. Otherwise, well the audience is still the same...
My only complaint is the Limited Edition being handled by Limited Run Games. I haven’t heard very many good stories on getting games in a timely manner from them
For most gamestudio's I wouldn't bother but for Falcom...yeah as I loved the CS arc (yeah I'm one of those guys) I definitely will get it on release. The Sky arc is awesome and I've played it but it sure feels dated now. Would be great to play that great arc with new mechanics and graphics.
My only concern is if sales would slow down? I will rather wait for one of these ultimate versions. I was gonna buy ys 10 but if there’s a better version like final mix did for kingdom hearts I’d rather wait . Another thing about gunho is with grandia on other platforms we had to wait for lrg to get those games on a non digital format .
I usually prefer to wait until at least half of the series is released before jumping in and buying a bundle (Still remember the pain I felt with Cold Steel 1 ending. I could barely hold myself back not punching through my tv when I saw Rean just being taken away and then BAMM! Credits. for like 2 years before I could continue). I am still in the waiting process for the Calward Arc though its getting harder and harder to hold myself back... But for Trails in the Sky... I don't think I can hold myself back... :D 1 and 2 was my all time favorute in the entire genre of JRPG's.
I do hope that TitS can still be played in its original 2D with other new content. (Would also be awesome to see 2D renditions of Cold Steel onward, just to line up with the original Sky and Crossbell games.)
My brother has this big backlog of Trails games across multiple platforms. He's currently in Sky 2 so he's got a long way to go. I played the demo for Daybreak on the Switch and I'm interested so the Sky remake seems like a great way for me to get into the series. The Switch would be my platform of choice except that the Switch 2 is right on our doorstep. So if Sky 2 and 3 get remakes as well what is the likelihood of them being on the Switch? They'll probably end up on the Switch 2 which is rumoured to be backwards compatible so a Switch 2 owner will have access to most Trails games but the timing of releasing a whole trilogy of remakes does not really work for the Switch 1. Either this needed to start a few years ago or maybe it would have made more sense to move the whole thing to the Switch 2. I'm guessing the Switch will get this remake but not later ones and there will also be a Switch 2 version that they can't reveal yet.
I just hope Falcom isn't taking a page out of Atlus's book and release 'enhanced' versions of games years later, making the original version essentially redundant... if you have the original and want the new version, please let us have it discounted... just update and patch in the new stuff and charge like $20... because the Atlus model is beyond aggravating...
What I like about Daybreak, is even after a turn based battle sequence is over and you have 5 characters level up, you don't have to deal with the annoying "I did it!" or "I need to train more" bits after a battle, sure you can skip them, but they're still annoying to deal with especially in Cold Steel IV and Reverie where you end up with like 12-13 people all leveling up. Also what I like is that you don't have to sit there and watch Orbment Level-Ups either, Daybreak seamlessly transitions straight from battle back into the adventure part of the game. And I actually enjoy the battle system in Daybreak, either style in Daybreak be it Field combat or turn base combat sequence feels smooth. Sure Daybreak has some flaws, but all LOH games have flaws.
I'm still curious why we've still not gotten word on a Kai no Kiseki PC release. Played through both Kuro 1 and 2 thanks to fan translations and was itching to get started on this as well but so far its radio silence
Adol confirmed for next Smash Lol
@@bryanbahantka6969I personally would like a Trails character more tho nonetheless I welcome Adol or any Falcom character for smash really. Hopefully it really does happen.
@Wallie33. We win if Dogi is an assist trophy hahaha
Trails in the Sky keeps looking more and more insane. That trailer was absolutely gold. Falcom is on such a heater lately and I'm so happy I'm a fan!
It's going on my must-play list now!
I've had a few friends tell me they saw the trailer and thought it looked good. As if I haven't been talking nonstop about Trails to them for the past seven years!
I know know how you feel brother
Yeah, but the original doesn't look that good
Interesting note about GungHo: according to their about us (for the US side), they're headed by Jun Iwasaki, formerly president of XSEED.
Yeah, Gungho has the resources
Really, really excited for the remake!! Definitely my most anticipated game for next year. Worldwide release announcement felt like Falcom giving us an early Christmas gift.
FF7R/RE have abandoned me.
This is gonna be my all-time most anticipated remake
The sky graphics look so good. SO good. That dropkick left me grinning ear to ear. As much as I love the sprites from the original this is such a great move for more accessibility for potential new Trails fans. Its unfortunate about Kato, hopeful that he rests in peace
It opens the door for an entire remake to cold steel with their new engine and gameplay really.
A worldwide release for a trails game is amazing, it feels unreal somehow~!😊
Sales for ff7 rebirth was bad because it was a ps5 only. With the all the ps4 out there they would have made more money release it on ps4
when you realize the Cold Steel series is going to be "outdated" graphical character models which is a weird thing to say out loud. this might be one of the greatest game announcements in the last 10-15 yrs. i saw the Trails 1st trailer early today and lost my mind.
I'm so happy right now. We are going to be eating good next year!
I hope they have a smooth release for this. It has the potential to be a breakout title for Falcom.
Even if the launch is a bit rocky, it'll do well. It's got the benefit of appealing to old fans, modern fans and newcomers.
Man, you are QUICK with these 😂
So much great stuff and Sky the 1st keeps looking better and better ❤ might be a hot take but I don't mind the "Cold Steel-ification" with the link style attacks (and what looks like a burst mechanic) I think it'll simply serve to enhance the gameplay without treading over established lore
I'm excited to see more of Proud Nordics too, I just hope it won't be a full on new release with no way for previous owners to upgrade.
It definitely should be a DLC, but it sounds like it'll be a whole new release based on how they've worded it.
Nah it's P5 Royal all over again
At least Atlus waits a couple of years. This is so quick that it can't be seen as anything more than a cashgrab. I'll buy the upgraded version if it costs a lot less for those that already bought it, but won't buy the whole game again
@@bluegrave4376 it is only "quick" for us in the west. For the Japanese it has been over a year already. Still, you will need to translate the new portions too. So, the release on our side might still be months after the JP one again.
The new trailer for Trails in the Sky hit so hard, it's made the game shoot straight to the top of my most wanted list for 2025.
The Trails/sky games coming to a modern console is literally a dream come true. Getting 1st chapter and the Suikoden 1 and 2 remaster next year is insane to me!
German subtitles is definitly new. We only ever had the english subtitles here. So hopefully more people will get into the series now.
Simultaneous WW release is a dream come true for Falcom. Really hope it's kept up.
I really can’t wait for Daybreak 2 and Kai no Kiseki to release.
I am annoyed at the existence of Ys X Proud Nordics because the international version literally only came out two months ago and I even pre-ordered it and loved the ever living heck out of the released product. I absolutely will not but it if it is a standalone game, but I will consider it if they release it as DLC for the original.
Yeah I'm a little annoyed at this too. I feel like they're pulling an Atlus on this case, lol.
It likely is going to be a standalone sequel unless i'm wrong, but hey, who knows, we might get worldwide release for that one too if all goes well.
From what it sounds, Proud Nordic seems to be encheaned version
I don't think you need to worry about GungHo America, it is led by the same man who once founded XSEED Games back in 2004 (Jun Iwasaki)
Before he founded XSEED he was the president of Square Enix U.S.A
The way they handle the Lunar remasters will give us a taste of what they're all about. I'm not too worried though, we'll see what they do.
Im just glad its not a switch timed exclusive
nothing is going to be a timed switch exclusive going forward, the switch 2 is likely getting announced within a matter of days/weeks
Ys Memories of Celceta is coming to Switch in Japan next spring 2025. Hopefully they'll get XSEED to release it in 2025 as well.
Thank you for your passion and all the hard work you put into the channel. Truly enjoy your videos.
Now if we can get a modernized cold steel 1 & 2 we'll really be cooking. 🎉
"Pulling an Atlus", let's be clear.
We just got Atlus'd... Hate to see it...
Really hope this is not an atlus style upgrade game cause that kinda just sucks if it is
Not sure yet, but it sounds like a brand new release.
Like, PS5 and PC at LEAST.)
Edit: But ultimately, the biggest and most important news for me by and far is one, simple, thing:
Kai's sequel was not mentioned, at all.
This is more Square Enix than Atlus like the DQ remakes
GungHo said it's a whole new localization for English, German and French. They are probably able to pull a WW release just because 90% of the script was ready to be worked on already, but hopefully the dialogues don't take too much of a hit.
I’d never heard of GungHo, but it seems like they’ve been around a while but under the radar. If this is a worldwide release, it makes me think they’re able to use the existing localization as a base
They've done a fair amount, and Lunar might give us an idea as to what their work will be like.
One thing about lunar is that they already have the first game of the collection done and available to play on Android and iOS. From what I've seen the translation is fairly good and uses the translation from the PSP version of the silver star story
They did "Puzzle & Dragon Z" on 3DS and THAT game was my *GOTY 2015* FYI (specifically the P&D Z side, NOT the "Mario" side).
Thank whatever gods are out there the Remake is not locked to the switch and Nintendo. Now I can look forward to it a lot more.
Agreed. Ever since I got a Steam Deck a few months ago, I decided to stop buying 3rd party games on Switch.
i hope it sells well. id love to see all 3 remade but i would settle for the first two. usually i wait for a steam sale but this will not be the case with this game. i will be supporting them on a day one release.
I would want all 3. Third is the most misunderstood game for me considering how important it actually is to the wider lore of Trails.
Yeah. Seems like a missed opportunity, especially since there's still a big user base there.
I've beaten and 100% sky 1st twice... This game is SO good. I'm definitely getting it.
I hope all 3 are remade, and greedily hope the Crossbell Duology get the same treatment.
about the re release and falcom adding I think about Lacrimosa of dana and how they added the content about dana and Io that wasn't in orginal game if I recall, honestly I enjoyed the game a lot but the content they added contributed a lot to my enjoyment like having a character having several fighting style and additional bit of story, I'm really a sucker for that
Love this style of news coverage!
RIP Masayuki 🙏
Out of curiosity, what was that part about “he wasn’t perfect”. Did something happen?
I’m very new to the community. I played Ys VIII this past summer and enjoyed it so much I played 5 more Ys games and now 6 Trails games. Playing through Cold Steel 2 atm and purchased every available Trails and Ys game. They’re all fantastic.
Falcom had a rough patch in the mid-late 90s and many of their developers left.
Google „Falcom JDK band incident“
Google „Falcom JDK band incident“
basically he wants to keeps cost low and made many conservative decisions in business.
Proud Nordics is such a slap in the face considering Nordics just released a few months ago. Very scummy imo.
If I can choose: ALWAYS Turn-Based-Battles!!! But I am so hyped!!!
How are there Trails fans who didnt like Daybreak's combat? Its literally just the logical evolution of the field attacks + turn based combat we've seen since Crossbell.
Absolutly not.
arcus units existing a year before they were created is the problem
Who is doing the physical collectors editions for trails in the sky remake Nis America or LRG
Dang it... I'm about halfway through Ys X. If I choose to stop now, I hope there's some way to import my save... Hope it's an update rather than a seperate release.
2025 is going to be great - two Kiseki games in a row. Really hope for good sales with Sky 1st so we all can get the whole trilogy remade
Durante has stated they are not involved atm. So sounds like no.
I fell in love with the sky trilogy many years ago. This is a preorder for me on ps5. Looks awesome. I can't wait.
So hyped for the Sky remake even more now with the worldwide release in Fall 2025 and for PS5 and PC as well 😤🔥🔥
So hyped for Sky remake, the facial animations in the young Estelle and Joshua were the best I have seen from Falcom so far!
If they are, it won't be as hard as the original since the difficulties in the original were added as an afterthought, and weren't balanced properly
@@RaifSeverence I hope your wrong but only time will tell.
I plan on getting physical version and steam version ,as I did with the rest of TLoH
I've been confident about Sky coming to PS5 at launch. The trailer looked great. And the music was 🔥. I don't have a gaming pc, so I'm so happy to have all my trails games on one console.
Looking forward to complete Arc collections. All sky remake, zero, coldsteel, daybreak.
Got really lucky with that SkyFC announcement, when it showed up in a direct (I was so mad it was in the sizzle real not an actual part of it with it's own minute to shine) I was just starting SkySC
i just started the trials series with the sky first chapter and this remaster looks really good
I wanted to hear about the Tokyo Xanadu follow-up! That first one was great. Instead Falcom pulled an Atlus with YS X. Lame heh.
Sky 1st Chapter will probably be one of the first big JRPGs to come out on the Switch 2. It’ll do well
I'm a little worried about GungHo being named. Both grandia and lunar were given to limited run games for physical releases. Grant you, I personally don't have an issue with limited run games but it does scare me that we only have a month to pre-order the game and wait 6 to 12 months for the physical copy
I've used LRG before and they're generally fine. Europe is being handled by another company though in this case.
How do you know Lunar was given to LRG? I haven't heard a thing about the physical release yet..
"Strengthening relationships with software publishers"
>Idea factory listed
You know that's really rich Nintendo, considering the whole Hyperdimension trilogy censorship stuff recently
I haven’t heard very many good stories on getting games in a timely manner from them
Lots of great games on the horizon and big moves from Falcom.
Do you think they might remake the Crossbell games too if the Sky Trilogy sells well?
Looks like I can wait for Ys X Pro+. Glad I held off on Ys X mainly because I havent had the time to play it but im more than happy to wait again
Same
That FC trailer made me tear up
Was there not some news abotu Xy VS Trails as well?!
Love nihon falcom they keep grinding despite not being super popular, too sad others can't find this hidden gem
Wonder if the story of Proud Nordics will have anything to do with that secret cutscene at the end of the original.
Super hyped for Sky 1st. I just finished the trilogy and started Trails Zero. I would be happy to join Estelle and Joshua again on their journey.
Remember how green Estelle was starting out, getting tummy kicked by Walter, she has a long way to go.
Gung-ho made the ps vita remake Evo and it's wonderful
Ah yes, my yearly, "Ok, what are we putting on the Wishlist and budgeting for" video.
I think Daybreak 2, Kai and Sky the 1st potentially all going west in 2025 is INCREDIBLE!
Sky already confirmed for Fall 2025😊
Daybreak 2 in February
Yea i think Kai will also release next year.
I never looked into the series because I was waiting for this.
Take my money 💰 falcom you are great 👍
