Hi y’all, a friend of mine had a grooving tool like that and he would take a U blade that was to dull to cut and cut it in half and use part that had been clamped ( still sharp) to make a single line cut ( sipping he called it) in between the cross grooves 2or3 of them. Said it gave better traction on snow and ice. Thanks for sharing another great video with the good information.👍

It does increase traction. You can buy tires Manufactured like that now.

I just bought one of these tools and I’m about to practice on some old tires. I was watching videos on how to, and someone suggested using a torch to heat up the tire. He said it makes easier re groove. I might try that as well. Thanks for the video.

They are great! Never tried heating the tire but I do know a good hot blade in the regrooving tool makes a big difference. They will pay for itself in a single tire.

The key is making sure that you don’t cut too deep and get into the steel cords inside the tire. If you feel it hit just pull back readjust your depth and keep going

If you were coming up on winter and you were running tires with solid outer ribs (like those), could you legally add horizontal groves to your outside ribs to get more traction in the snow?

That is a very good question that I honestly do not have an answer to. As long as you did a good job I doubt you would have any trouble with it from a legal standpoint.

river wear can be bearings and or shocks.

It’s possible but those components usually cause more of a “hump and dip” or “wavy” pattern

@@TruckingwithBones I don't really have these issues anymore since I started aligning my truck using a tape measure and string.

A lot of people don’t know you can do it that way
