      Like her system so much more… kibbe confuses me with height one minute it’s super important next minute it’s not. And I’m 5’4-5’5 so I’m supposed to be too tall for Theatrical Romantics cause aparently average height is too tall for yin? Idk I’m so confused lol marylin Monroe is the same height as me.

    As a TR I guess I am a Rounded Mixed but I found I look better with slight curls around my face and a wispy fringe, even styling baby hairs works for me better than have all my hair pulled back.
    And as an authentic curly girl, I know that we NEVER brush out our curls. In CGM terms, I would say Sharpened looks better with a cast and Rounded looks better scrunching out the crunch.
    And last but not least, length. As a mainly Rounded type, I realized that longer hair used to shorten my already short vertical line, so from having below waist hair, I cut it into a shoulder length shag with round layers. My hair is 2c-3a texture, medium porosity and super healthy.
    EDIT: Oh, and about hair color. For Rounded types, less contrast looks better than high contrast, it creates less harsh shadows. For Sharpened types, high contrast works better. For Beveled type, mimic your natural contrast levels and maybe add highlights or ombre effect, for more texture. For Blended types, the less artificial, the better. For Mixed types, go crazy! You can rock any contrast levels. As a Rounded Mixed I went for a lighter shade compared to my natural tone to my hair and I look much better. And regarding to skintone and undertone, I am cool and delicate, so I went for an ashy, medium brunette shade.

    • @Hasna256
      @Hasna256 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I was also confused with the brushing lol, I rarely brush but just untangle them before and after washing. I think what she means by brushing is making the curls softer ("brushing") vs not making them softer or doing the opposite (with gel). The way I make them softer is by just separating some curls and by using no leave in styling products (no gels, no creams).

    Hm. Just my 2cents, but even as a long time viewer, I have a hard time following along here. This would work, if you posted every week...but as it is, this video should really start with a short reminder of how this system works. Or at least have a direct link to the video explaining your body geometry system. Otherwise most people will just be confused, I think.

    • @stephanien6237
      @stephanien6237 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Agreed. Glad there is a link to body geometry because watching most of the videos out of order there was a lot more Kibbe body type.
      I think “sharpened taut” is what she used to call “Dramatic” (in Kibbe)? And “sharpened soft” = “Kibbe Soft Dramatic”?
      Beveled = Natural
      Mixed = gamine
      Blended = classic
      I too was confused. . . Glad for the new link! :-)

      I think, you got it right 👍
      I remember, I actually liked this way of describing things.
      Although as a natural/beveled type I'm frustrated, that the only hair recommendation we ever get is basically: long, tousled mane. Yeah, thanks. Lol.
      I actually follow the curly girl method now and wear my hair wavy-curly...so I was very excited about this video. But no way am I going to grow my hair out again. Way too much work and doesn't fit my style as a 40 year old professional woman, either.
      I wish, someone would talk about short hair option for naturals for once.

      Very good and interesting video, but I'm with you Kathryn; I need these types lined-up with Kibbe too. I love the sketches, but pics of the celebrity examples would be super helpful. A few months ago I found, by accident, a curly girl expert who is also a certified HSM: Head Size Matters stylist. I have never had a more flattering haircut! Mirriam's method seems very similar to HSM.

    In case it’s confusing, I THINK the equivalencies between Body Geometry and Kibbe are generally like this:
    Sharpened - Dramatic
    Beveled - Natural
    Blended - Classic
    Mixed - Gamine
    Rounded - Romantic
    Taut - being the dramatic/flamboyant/more yang version
    Soft - being the soft/more yin version

    Hey Merriam, what made you decide that TR should be called rounded mixed rather than rounded sharp/taut? I am a TR and the features that are not rounded are definitely sharp and not mixed. I have a sharp nose and no matter the weight.. I have sharp collar bone and bones poking at my hips (in front) and my shoulders too. My arms and legs are longer.. And i look taller than I am because my rib cage, shoulders etc are smallish.. Like it's with sharpened people.. That would explain why my hair in curls too have to look more sleek than of mixed people or rounded people. I feel like a mixed personaand rounded person can afford this little bit untidy hair, for me it's unforgivable.. No matter what I wear.. If it's not sleek on the outer shape I look bad and undone. I feel the "mixed" doesn't describe me at all. All these features I have that are not rounded are definitely not in a middle /mixed way.. But sharp. On the other side I have all very rounded shapes, small hands and feets (European 35 on feet, being 165cm tall) etc etc.. I love you but I don't understand yet why rounded mixed was introduced. I know it has a good explanation but I just didn't come up with a good one m, self. So I would be so happy if you could explain to us. Love 😍

      @@gkgk6439 the answer is many things! 😄 The Curly Girl method helped me a lot, one of the most important things with curly hair is making sure your hair is properly hydrated as this reduces frizz and helps define your curls more, and following the curly girl method for a time can get you there. Getting a good haircut from someone who understands curls is also very important!

    Hello, You are spot on regarding "mixed soft" for Halle Berry. Her beauty is indisputable. However, she does not know what hair styles are best for her body type. Whenever she wears "long" hairstyles...her beauty gets drowned out. She's almost unrecognizable! I understand a woman's need for variety. She just needs to know which varieties work best...on her. Short cuts look so beautiful on Halle Berry. The right mid-cuts could too. She was recently photographed wearing a Asian-style banged geometric straightened hairstyle (mid-length). Her current partner is in the photo too. That had to be the worst looking hairstyle I've ever seen on her. There's an art to bangs (wearing)...your face shape has to be a primary consideration. I wondered if she was deliberately trying to downplay her beauty with that hairstyle. It was a wig. But still! If I recall, even her outfit seemed out of character (another downplay?). Thanks for your enlightening and quite helpful advice regarding body types. One day I'm going to consider a consultation with you. 😊👍

      @@tallisinwonderland4724 Yessssss! That's the picture. That gown so was not correct for her body type. She never dresses like that. Compare it to the plethora of solo pics of Halle. Sometimes when women get new boyfriends...we over accomodate in order to maintain. Of course I'm speaking out of term not personally knowing either person. But I am speculating as a mature female. Halle Berry chose 2 vital focal points in her wardrobe that not only muted her beauty, but made her look unattractive: Hair & Outfit. She never does that! This is a new relationship. Her dress wear in that photo "may" signify a level of insecurity with 1 of them. Hint: It's usually the guy. Lol!

    Thank you for the new video, I'm so excited for it! And I really think I'm about to appreciate the comment. In the past I've been bothered to see hair texture on Kibbe test questions. I hope that it is not controversial to say that often most people within a certain ethnic group will have curly hair. I can't remember which type the curly hair answer went with, but I am sure that huge portions of some ethnicities are not all within the same Kibbe type or 2.

    I love your voice in this video, as it seems more genuine. I think someone must have told you to be feminine and perfect in your life but you can just be yourself if you want to. I used to have a voice that no one could hear because I wasn't talking loud enough. I finally started talking louder by using that more real diaphragm like singing voice that comes more from inside. I think we must be similar in that way. I've learned in the past year or so that it's okay to be myself before trying to impress others. My real voice is deeper and more abrupt to me but I am not worrying any more that others don't like me but whether I like them instead now. Our own opinion matters more. I do still raise my pitch some still but it is less than before. It's fine if you like the higher voice, but please just be sure you are doing it for yourself. Also, if you have been going through a rough patch lately then time will help you get through it. I've wanted to say something like this for awhile and there I've said it. I hope you do not take offense as I mean well.
