Not sure if I'm right, but I think these are the closest Kibbe types to Merriam's system:
    *Sub types*:
    •Mixed taut - flamboyant gamine
    •Beveled soft - soft natural
    •Rounded mixed - theatrical romantic
    •Mixed firm - ??
    •Mixed soft - soft gamine
    •Blended soft - soft classic
    •Sharpened soft - soft dramatic
•Beveled firm/beveled taut (not sure which one) - flamboyant natural
    •Blended sharpened - dramatic classic
    *Main types* :
    Beveled - natural
    Sharpened - dramatic
    Curved - romantic
    Blended - classic
    Mixed - gamine
    Structured - yang
    Soft - yin

”if you’re blended even if it’s only slightly vintage you’re going to look soo vintage” . This is so true! People constantly tell me “you look kind of vintagey” and what I’m wearing is jeans and a tied standard white button up shirt”. This also goes for other styles I’m pretty sure, I think if you’re blended and wearing something just inspired by a particular style it’s going to look like you’re just wearing that style, a lot of times.

I really like your scientific explanation as to why things "work" or look more harmonious. I am a natural/bevelled, I usually feel the need to toughen up more soft or feminine items and I can see why that is, as it adds more weight.

I adore your way of talking about body types, but I have to admit your system is getting very confusing. The names of the types and shapes are too alike. Soft, mixed, rounded, taut, short, firm... I don’t love the Kibbe name connotations but the brilliant thing about them is that they’re very distinguished from each other and thus easy to use. As an ENTJ I love a good system, especially an NT one, but I’m finding this one a bit inefficient because of the descriptive words.

Perfect timing for the winter sales. This time I'm buying only my own style. Then I'll use it as a foundation to make the rest do my wardrobe work. I'm a blended type, I've accumulated so many pieces that look off and now I'll try to balance them with new understated pieces. That's the plan. So if I understood correctly I'm looking for simple pieces without too short or long lines, lighter colors because I'm soft and softer materials that envelope the body without creating rigid shapes (too structured coats for example). I love long coats but I'll look for one that's not longer than my knees. Bags that are middle in size and not too structured. No big jewelry. Honestly shopping is not my favorite especially in sale season, but this time I know what I'm looking for. I won't feel like I'm wasting my time.

  • @Healthnut27

I’m still on the first slide and I think I could see what you’re saying about the first top. The squarish cut of the top would work well for someone who has broad, square shoulders. Someone who needs to break up their vertical line, and then who has long limbs. Who can handle overall the yang aspect of the arms and shoulders, but the yin because of the frills? Also there looks like there’s waist emphasis so whoever wears it can handle that needed waist emphasis.
Overall, this is a good practice for me as I’m really trying to understand clothes and silhouettes....this is helpful to just focus on lines. 🙌

As a sharpened soft (i.e. soft dramatic) I’m so sick of people telling me all these button up blouse shirts and slip style tops work. I’ve tried so many of them on and soft dramatics definitely need waist emphasis and none of these silky have that. They just look too boxy. Yes we need draping, but a boxy blouse is not dripping. It’s meant for a natural (ie beveled). I don’t know a single soft dramatic that would look good in that last gray button up blouse. Most soft dramatics have bigger busts and something that just hangs off them like that button up would look really frumpy

Etc. It seems to me that would have been a clearer way of presenting the same info...not being critical just suggesting for the future. I personally think that the very first top is supposed to be for the theatrical romantic, because it has mostly rounded lines + a bit of sharpness. Also I have two friends who have almost identical pieces : one of them is flamboyant gamine (mixed taut?) - on her it looked like on a cow (sorry), and the other one is theatrical romantic and on her it looked absolutely gorgeous.
