love the video ...but going to have to desagree with you on the fact that these cars need lights!!! i like night runs and some of the spots i go to do not have suficient lights ands its a crap to lign up the car from a distance ...so just the fact the new 144011 has lights makes me want to buy it !
I dig the lights. I'm a night shifter and sometimes spend my breaks bashing a RC in the dark. I've always had to add lights to them before. Equipped lights are a big perk for me.
the rear swing arms now have a screw that goes all the way to the end thus helping alleviate the problems with the rubber insert getting loose , they fixed that problem already, just make sure when you get it out of the box to flip them over because the inserts are installed backwards you will see your arms if you look from the bottom they are bent forward so remove the inserts flip them over and you will have a perfectly squared rear swing arm.
The 2 in 1 ESC made the bang for buck taking a huge dive. And some wltoys are a pain to work with thanks to red loctite/glue. Maybe that's not the case with later releases? I prefer the old looks. The new one looks to toyish for my taste.
WlToys just keeps releasing the same thing over and over again. They really need to come up with something other than a buggy. HyperGo has become my favorite RC.
JoeyJoJoJunior Shabadoo ! Hey, wait, joeyjoejoe ! I agree with you. WLToys really missing out on business because I could give a floof about buggies. Not in my back yard (which doesn't exist).
WLToys seem to make silly decisions. The front end looks great on this car, beefier than my 144010. Then they add a brushed motor, dog ugly controller and LEDs lol I wish they would do a deal with Dumborc on controllers tbh I'm sure Dumborc would sell them 100 thousand controllers for £10 a piece.
The 144001 was 50 quid when it came out. I've actually still got the 1st one I bought and speed ran it to 112mph! So the only thing I'm interested in is the thicker drive shafts. The car... They're just getting rid of old stock. I doubt they'll sell many
This seems to fix pretty much all the real problems I had with the OG (as a non-hardcore RC amateur). The more solid dog bones and lights are really great, I kept bending the shafts with last time around and with the lights I can easily see if its facing me when it gets darker.
Leds are catering for the 8-12 age bracket, IMHO. When I want leds on an RC I prefer to make my own. But obviously not everyone is that fortunate. I like the sticking a 550 can because it is easy to upgrade to a max 10 combo. But if honest you probably wouldn't. Currently I think mjx hyper go range is a better buy and similar price range. There's always a place for a cheap quality rc car with part support but I think you're correct that this price is not enticing for a brushed motor, throw away esc/rx combo and servo. Definitely time wltoys started to do something new and not just a rehash of a rehash.
I do like it with the lights in, but like you I feel it’s just a bit pricey. Maybe $90 would be more justifiable! With daylight getting shorter here, those lights come in handy. Glad to see they’ve beefed up those cvd’s . I think that wing should be a shatter proof plastic instead of those polycarbonate ones. 32mph is impressive with a brushed set up! They probably achieved their speed Claims with a 3s lipo. Still looks great, but ready for a different look! Cheers 🍻 Ricky, have an awesome week!
I agree. Yeah maybe it was 3s then they need to state that on the site. For example *Speed achieved with 3s battery. Most buyers (especially beginner buyers) will think it does the claimed speed on the site with included battery as they probably wont know the difference between 2s/3s as a 100% complete beginner. I would guess that this buggy is aimed at people who will put in their own electronics and customize it, meaning that a brushless system would be a little bit wasted.
Competition is tough right now for entry level RC's. Each to their own, but I wouldn't drop the money they are asking for this (...and the lights aren't a seller for me personally). Great review!
It's nice to have lights on all RC cars that way when you drive it at night you know which way you're going Plus you can drive it at night. We don't need all the flashing red and blue cop lights and stuff like that but nice headlights and LED bar light is good Just don't go overboard.😮😮😮
I'm not going to tell you that your opinion is wrong, as you offered in the video, but I'll say I wouldn't mind lights on larger more expensive trucks, but adding lights to a cheap buggy is dumb when you could have spent that part of the budget on making it BRUSHLESS.
Its a personal preference... I like "sensored brushless". Offers way more power and tuneability. Also less maintenance. Brushed is slower good with throttle control but less efficient, gets hot, and slow. also way less tuneability
I'm definitely upgrading my current older 124016 to those CVD'S and Differentials! I have my car built and its excellent on the street, but the skinny CVD's suck!!
Good question! I to have found the Wltoys diffs pretty dry. My 124019 had no greese at all! I wouldn't risk running one without checking them myself. Have they improved?
Lights just cost more if you ask me I would rather have no lights and a cheaper car then have lights I think they need to start putting the bigger diff cups and dog bones in all of there models
Got a amoril 1/14 and two rlaarlo am-x12 that I like a lot more than my 124019 and 124017 v1. Pros of the rlaarlo and Amoril... So many more spares parts in the box. Less wobble in the wheels. Better wheel nut setup (no pins to lose). They look alot better as well. My negatives about the amoril 1/14 is the arms don't have holes for the roll bar kit. The brushed motor needs some thermal paste between the chassis. The esc gets super hot.
144001 to 144011 seems to be "2 steps forward, 1.5 steps back". Hate to have to say it, but I'm in agreement with luccrouset1675...I think WLToys went through their "unsold parts bins", and pieced this together. Sorry, WLToys...but, to me, this a a MAJOR "FAIL".
the lights don't look like they have parabolic reflectors, do they actually work? the new part numbers start with 27xx, you need to fit the newer 27xx diff cups to fit the new 27xx CVDs and dogbones (and 27xx rear wheel axle cup if you're not going to run CVD), the pin and ball at the end of the dogbone is larger so doesn't fit the old cups. last few wltoys diffs i've looked inside of had a smidge of white lithium grease, ya basically can't tell they're greased even when they are I'd like to see them do more with that new 1/12 tub - monster trucks etc. They're good at the small cars, The larger cars need better bracing etc which wltoys lacks, their 1/10 folds up the front, and even team associated didn't get it right with the MT8. They have a fresh new 1/12 platform, they should use it. Another thing that wltoys got right with the 124008 was the gearing, they changed to a 15T pinion. If you see QuadifyRC's "The Ultimate guide to wltoys pinions", he complains about their long gearing to get max speeds, they changed from 23T to 19T to in the 144010 which improved the gear ratio, but you could bore out a 17T from an A959 for a lower gear ratio, and then his "Unicorn" gear ratio was 15T, much better for racing, but a unicorn in mod 0.7. Well wltoys chose 15T for the 124008, and changed to mod 0.6, a much more available tooth pitch (although the fixed motor mount only permits 15T or 20T reversed) - It would be interesting to see if the new 1/14 adopted the new mod 0.6 gearing (you can check if the part numbers start with 27xx)
Why not just sell a roller where there's no motor or electronics?? This would be great for those that likes to soupe up their RC. I think there's a market for that

The Arrma Gorgon is the nail in the coffin for these

MJX are a great cheap rc brand!
I'm still running the brushed system from the 124019 in the rllaro 14th scale because the rllaro caught on fire
I like front and rear lights, good for night runs. Could do without the windscreen ones. Amazon has the 1/12 brushed for cheaper than this, new.
In America where we race at times it's at night so those lights being on there would be a cool thing for night racing otherwise they're kind of cool
