Danke dir! 🤐🤣
Hey John, really glad you came over to say that! I hear you, I have been like this for years and always wanted one. But if I wouldn't do content about them, I probably still couldn't afford them - hence why I am super grateful to have the opportunity. But you can maybe find used tanks like this one in the US, I hear often about good deals on unitanks. the used market for homebrewing gear is way bigger than here in Germany.
I never pierced the blue diaphragm between the pressure gauge and the tank. Never had any issues. Is this really recommended? I would worry more about moisture entering the gauge. Great video, thanks 😀
Well to be honest I didn’t know it either but my buddy Josh pointed it out while I was setting it up! Previous you didn’t need to because the gauge was a liquid based one whereas the new ones are actually air based. There’s also an info in the Brewtools docs on this topic. Thank you for the comment, appreciate it 🙂
@@daveshopfenstube Thanks for getting my attention to this...only thing I remember from setting up the gauge was to cut the top blue gasket with a pair of scissors...never got to the part of piercing the membrane. Thx again, Cheers.
Great video Dave! What kind of glycol chiller are you using for your brewtools fermenters and how you are planning to attach it to the FCS? Submersible pump or selenoid valve?
Thanks Jan!! Right now I have the Icemaster G20, which I am looking to sell eventually. As I have more like three to four fermenters, I need something with more output so I am leaning towards the new Lindr / Brewtools ones. With the FCS, I still haven't figured that one out. I gotta see how I would do it, but I think there just these two ways right?
Yeah, there are these two options. I am planning to get a MiniUni 30+ and FCS looks super awesome. As I am brewing in a shed, I would not only need a glycol chiller, but also heating for colder months and kveiks. As far as I know, Brewtools are currently also working on a combined temperature and density sensor. So right now you are setting the glycol temp to your desired fermentation temperature? Let me know, when you want to sell the Icemaster. I might be interested 😊
Fantastic video I really enjoyed seeing it all in detail. I’m torn between a mini uni + and the f40 light as I’m currently just gravity brewing in SSBT buckets - the cost isn’t massively different here so which one do you prefer overall?
James, I appreciate your comment so much! This is a good question that I am also wanting to do a video about - I feel like if you dry hop regularly, take a a lot of advantage of accessories (like heating element etc) probably the F40 light is more convenient overall. Also the cone is slightly better I'd say. On the other hand, the cooling surface covers more area on the MiniUni - I feel like the Icemaster G20 is running more often than with a full MiniUni + .
Nice video Dave. I'm wondering how you like the conical unitank compared to the miniuni plus? Seems function is same but more convenience and glycol coverage on miniuni.
Thank you :) Well I gotta say the F40 is great. The larger volume is really convienent. When I dropped the yeast the beer got really bright - without adding any finings. The glycol coverage is better on the MiniUni indeed. I haven't made up my mind yet which I prefer, I do really like both. I think it depends on what you're wanting to do - but I am looking to make a detailed video on a buyers guide for both of these What are you leaning towards to?
@daveshopfenstube i am leaning toward the Mini uni plus since I like to brew anywhere from 1 to 5 gallons. I used to work with Jeremy Marshall, the head brewer at lagunitas, and he really opened my eyes to experimentation with smaller batches and how to scale. Temp control has always been a pain with only one fermentation chamber. So unless they all had similar yeast, I had to space out, which makes alot of work for small beer or experiments with small batches strategically set at various places around the home.
How many liters you fermented in this around 28-30L or more? I would have gotten one if the cone was smaller volume wise. I brew 20-22L so stayed with my grainfather fermenters. Did get a miniuni+ to use as a bright tank but I am still working out the temp control to connect it to the grainfather chiller.
I have only done one batch, that was a double batch with 2x 25l (I don't have a brewing system that is big enough) but with the first 25l it seemed to work. But I guess if you fill it more with like 30l it has more surface area for cooling. I think there are some users that have this combo of chiller and fermenter - maybe post it in the Brewtools Facebook group.
Great video Dave! 🍻
Thanks for watching Kurt 😊
Very entertaining video and perfect quality end editing!
Thanks Pjoter for the comment :) BTW fermenting in kegs will be coming very soon
Great job on the video, Dave! Prost! from SC.
Thanks Derik, hope you’re doing well! Cheers 🍻
Well done! You responded to my reddit post earlier which I appreciate!
Sure, I appreciate your kind feedback too! I will definitely release more stuff soon
Nice! Cooles Video, bisschen neuer Style. Gefällt mir!🫶 Der F80 light ist übrigens auf dem Weg🤭✌️

@ klar auch schon bestellt, warte nur auf den Versand😂
Here from reddit. Nice production, wish I could afford such a lovely fermenter!

And now I want one. Thanks a lot. :D Great video!
Soooooorry 🙈🤣 But I am sure you would love it
Well done!!!!
Thank you!
So this light unitank is all I need in my life :p :D
Well it is for me 🍻

@@janr81 Yeah that is excatly what I am doing - seems to work fine :) I will let you know for sure - where are you from?

Great video, very tempting! Does the sight glass cause any concern for light strike on your beer?
Thanks mate! :) So far I didn't run into an issue, but I also try to avoid direct sunlight for long period of times.
