    Awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing. I bought a Braumeister in 2012 when it was a real innovation in the homebrewing scene. German engineers are amongst the best in the world, but alas they can’t see any imperfections from their designs and produce. Worse than anything else, they don’t listen to customers and they tend to become very arrogant when trying to cover up their flaws. Your video definitely encouraged me to buy a Brewtool system next, which looks far more slick and efficient than a Braumeister. I have also done some prep-work on the company and apparently Brewtool team goes the extra mile to listen to customers and try and accommodate their requests. Pricewise, it looks very competitive too! Particularly when compared to an obsolete and overpriced system such as the Braumeister. Thanks again; you are awesome!

    Thanks for making this honest en real world video. I can imagine all the stress of recording the brew day, big thumbs UP man! Looking forward to brew again, next brewery will have also a B80... I guess... thanks again, Cheers!

      Hey there, Legend! 😀 Filming brewdays can be a bit hectic, making brewdays I don't film feel like a vacation compared to the ones I film 😂 You setting up yet another brewery? You should really try out the B80. I'm super happy about it 😊

    Great brewday footage. I've also found the recirculation on the B80 very slow. Lots of info suggesting to leave the mash for 10-20 minutes for the grain to plump up with water absorption before recirculating so the grains make a good bed. Gonna give it a go on my next brewday (3rd on on the B80) to see if it improves things.
    Sharing your brewday and the issues you come across is great to see with follow up on your fixes. great channel.
    Cheers

      Thank you! 😊 I’ve had 5 brew days on it now and have learned a lot about mashing on it.
      My last (and fifth) brew day I hit all my numbers.
      I did a 20 min rest, and I’m using a 72 degree mash step for 15 minutes before mash out.
      That helped a lot! 😊
      Hope you figure it out also on your system 😊👌🏻

    Great video, thank you for showing your first brewday on the new system!
    I'm looking at a brewtools systems s well, so these "unedited" use cases are really valuable. Would love to see more full brewdays with the B80!

    To echo @ Jonathan Johnson's comments- it is great to see an unedited brewery with all the good and "bad" that can happen to anyone. Especially with a new system. I'm preparing to replace my propane heated 15 gal, 3 vessel system with the B80 Pro. I'm working on rearranging my layout and this was very helpful. I would suggest a powered winch/hoist. I'm installing one with a track since I am one armed.

    Glad mashout didn't end badly. I had a similar experience when I thought I'd be able to remove a full Braumeister 50L maltpipe by hand. 😅 I opted for a wheeled low worktop and pulley. You could do something similar with the worktop your Brewtools is on. A few observations re Braumeister 50L vs Brewtools B80. I don't ever see a need to use a 20kg grist. I don't drink that much volume or high ABV. The higher wattage of the Brewtools elements just helps heat water a bit quicker. It makes no difference in the actual brewing process, i.e., mash and boil. The Braumeister 50L's 3200w are more than enough for a vigorous boil. If anything, I'd like to dial it down a bit, especially when using a steam condenser or brewing a pale beer like a lager, which are better with a gentler boil. From what I've observed online, I suspect I can get a better whirlpool in my Braumeister using a RipTide pump. You could try using your RipTide pump to see if it performs better for whirlpooling than the Brewtools onboard pump. Also, I've found the Braumeister cooling jacket works really well (15 minutes longer than my Z Chiller), if the wort gets recirculated, and there's no sanitising or cleaning required, which is nice.

  • @Teh509

    Ideally, the cfc should be mounted horizontally rather than vertically on the wall. Otherwise, the wort won't drain properly. Wort should enter at the top and drain from the bottom. Otherwise, wort will remain in the lower sections of the loop / and/or remaind cleaning solution.

      You are right! Also I have switched out the BT chiller with the ZChiller, and it lays down 😀

    Another tip from @hoprodgarage is to limit the flow out from the counter flow chiller. That would help during direct transfer. I am going to buy the ball valve for this myself.

  • @nexthops
    @nexthops ปีที่แล้ว

    After the rest, sparge with a slow flow, or the grainbed can compact.

  • @homebeerbrewery

    Hey my friend, question if I may ask: do you “fill” the counter flow chiller before the mash/boil? So the air is out of it? Cheers 😊

    • @TheNextBatch

      Hey @homebeerbrewery 😃 No I don’t. During mash and boil, up until sanitation of the chiller, I keep only air in the chiller. I circulate the wort bypassing the chiller.
      Have you started brewing on the B80 yet?

    • @homebeerbrewery

      Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I did brew my first batch, and I noticed huge air bubbles coming out of the chiller during the start of the sanitation, wort splashing in the air 😅 My chiller is underneath the troll table. Not sure how I am going to fix this… cheers

    • @TheNextBatch

      Ah, yes. That happens 😃 If you open the valve slightly and slowly the bobbling will be dampened.
      But sooner or later you will get the steam hat and steam condenser and this will no longer be a problem with the hat on 😃

    Really nice setup and video as well. How big is the room of your brewery? It seems really compact and well thought out. I am planning to make my own and I will have a 7m2 area at my disposal and from the video it seems that you might be working with a similar size. Basically I envisioned the exact same layout except different brands, with a dedicated CIP pump and keg cleaning station because I cant stand cleaning. If you have any tips or hacks how to run a brewery in small spaces I will appreciate all the advice. Thank you.

      Cheers! The TV behind the Unitanks is connected to a Rasperry Pi with runs TiltOS, which again logs and displays the data from my Tilt Hydrometers floating in each Unitank. They meassure SG and temperature. This is logged into Brewfather every 15 min.

      Is it the Oxywand you mean? They sell it in the home brew shops here (Norway). Since your name is Dutch sounding I took the liberty to check the Dutch availability, and found it here on Amazon. www.amazon.nl/Homebrewers-Outpost-FE392-Zuurstof-micron/dp/B074D9F94Y
      If you are not Dutch I also see they sell it in a lot of other countries as well 😊

    Fest taljen rett over murbøtta.
