    Loved this comparison. It’s the 20-60 a super unique focal range lens vs the tried and true classic 24-105 with an added great macro capability! I’m torn between the two personally depending on what you do.

    I love how you compared the lens extension when you zoom. I haven't seen that before where you have a wide range with minimal barrel extension on the 24-105, but a lot of barrel extension through a small zoom range on the 20-60. Thank you for that.

    I have the 20-60 and the 50 1.8. I only want one more lens, a 105 or 3.5 for portraits. The 20-60 is a great travel lens. Very underrated. I mostly use mine between the 20-40mm range.

      @@RhettThompsonFilm I think Sigma is putting out the more in between lenses. But I could see something like a 60-135 f/4 or f2-f2.8. It would be big but heck Panasonic give us some variety and weirdness, haha.

    Another great video👍. I have the 20-60 kit, 28-70 2.8 Sigma, and 50 1.8 Panasonic. I like the kit lens for family, travel and no-pressure, relaxed content. I'll also use it at 20mm instead of buying a wide aperture prime, even though it's at f3.5 at 20mm. I damaged the kit lens and while it's getting fixed I bought the 28-70 2.8 because of the great reviews and faster aperture (it's also light and relatively inexpensive compared to similar lenses). I'll probably keep both because I want to be able to walk around and shoot at 20-24mm with the Panasonic lens. The 50mm is for low light. I bought it because the 35mm 1.8 was on back order. I also have a Sony A7III with a 24-105 and 35 1.8. The 24-105 is my fast professional workhorse. I'm still learning how to work the S5's focus most efficiently. I'm taking it with me on our holiday vacation to Texas and plan on using it in San Antonio, Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth over the next two weeks. I really like the colors, and the 10-bit, 4:2:2 internal video recording is the big selling point for me. I do a lot of US Army field photography and video and will begin to include that along with my personal creative content starting this week on Instagram @ed.robles1. It's been a long time but the S5 and watching this and other channels has been inspiring.

      Hey Eddie! You've got a great kit there! Is the 28-70 f2.8 contrasty like the 20-60? I never had the chance to try that lens...
      Anyway I think you can live without the 20-60, unless you vlog while walking around. You could replace the 20-60 with the contax zeiss 80-200 F4 ;)
      When I use AF lenses, the AF on Panasonic is not that bad...but I much prefer to use true manual focus lenses. You should give it a try, if you don't have sight problems.
      Enjoy your amazing trip!

    • @EdRobles1
      @EdRobles1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LucaBono.Studio The 28-70 is contrasty, maybe even more than the 20-60. It's also a lot sharper. Amazingly sharp and detailed. You can crop in plenty and maintain details beautifully. I've shot it on the Natural profile mostly, and some V-log. Looks good in natural profile. So what I surprisingly found after shooting for two full days, all day through the evening/night with both lenses, is that that the 20-60 allowed me to capture more imagery faster because of the wider 20 mm focal length. I could grab all the composition and environment I wanted in the shot with the kit lens at 20mm. Mostly street and documentary style photo/video. Surprisingly, I had to switch out the 20-70 for the 20 - 60 several times. But at night with low lighting, I used the 28-70, occasionally. I'm accustomed to shooting with the 24-105 on my Sony, but this 20-60 is now transforming how I approach my shot composition in a fresh way. It was a surprise that came to light after hands on use. I will continue shooting both lenses over the next three weeks and follow up with comparative thoughts and imagery, and ultimate decision. You're right, I should have used manual focus more, even with native glass . I got burned a couple of times in the past 48 hours. I haven't depended on manual focus for a while, but it's important to keep it up. I'll see your video on the 80-200. It's been a while since I've used older non-native glass. I need to learn how to use the S5 in APS-C photography mode, if possible, so I can extend the reach of these lenses. I think Josh Cameron shows it on one of his videos. Thanks for replying! - I watch all your videos 💯 . Again, I'll follow up with imagery. (Reply edit. I was mistaken. I don't think there is an APS-C mode for photography on the S5. I think Josh mentions it for video only.)

    I have the 20-60, and Sigma 24-105 in EF mount. Of course, the Sigma is much larger, heavier and longer, especially with the EF to L adapter. In bright conditions, the 20-60 is fine. 24-105 is better for reach and constant aperture. But the interesting thing is that 4k 50p on the S cameras has a 1.5x crop, making the 20-60 into 30-90. The extra reach increases the versatility of the 20-60.

    On a gimbal, on the wide end the weight of the 20-60 is similar to the s35 1.8 s50 1.8. Only a minimal adjustment is needed. It also uses the same filter ringsize. For that reason, I have it. The 24 1.8 is not worth it for me as I don't use wide angle that much anyway.

  • @chandanprakash2002
    @chandanprakash2002 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, 20to 60 coming for 200 pounds as a kit lens in the UK. 24 to 105 not available as a kit at all. Separately, 24 to 105 selling for 1299 pounds. So too much of difference.

      No, it will be too slow. You'll need an f2 or f1.4 lens and a flash

    Hi Luca, do you know if Sigma 24-70 2.8 or Sigma 28-70 2.8 L-mount has usable AF in a video? Any chance of testing and reviewing Sigma lenses? Thank you.

      There are too many reasons...I'll make a video about it, many people asked me this question. If you need usable AF in video, you should stick with native Panasonic lenses (zoom or primes)

    The 20-60 just shoots better at 20mm than the 24-105 does, so it's the 20-60 for me...

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you mean 24mm? The 24-105 can't go as wide as 20mm lol....
      Anyway if you meant 24mm, yes at 24mm the 20-60 is sharper in the corners but it still has more CA and a 2/3 stops less dynamic range (more contrasty) than the 24-105 F4. At least that's what I see on my copies of the lenses ;)
