THIS VIDEO IS GOLD! I used it to replace the battery on my OLED Vita. His instructions were clear and the video focuses on what you need to see. Also the tip about using paper as a template was GOLD. If you're looking to replace your battery, WATCH THIS VIDEO. Have it up while you're doing the replacement and you'll be back up and running in 20 minutes.
I haven't done it yet, just came to see how is done. I like watching this kind of videos. BUT this guy and video must be the most well explained, focused, detailed "how to" video i ever seen.
This video: let me focus on the tricky parts and do them a couple of times for you to see. Other videos: scene cuts and the tricky part is magically done.
When you said to use the screwdriver to pry up the connector, I had questioned it. I thought it could cause a short and damage the motherboard. I should have listened to myself. I used the screwdriver and then there was a spark from where the screw tip touched one of the metal contacts below the connector. Vita is still working at the moment, not sure if there is any permanent damage yet. Don't use a screw driver to pry it up, use plastic tool
Can I have this guy as my life instructor? He is so good at explaining, I am already pretty handy with electronics and do phone repairs and this video was amazing, so good for newcomers Well done sir
I just replaced my OLED Vita's battery a few minutes ago thanks to this video. The paper is a good tip, though I organize my workspace by placing the screws at appropriate areas on the table (screws on left go on left side of table, etc.). The Vita came apart easily and knowing where the wires and ribbons were made the rest of the job a breeze. Thanks for the video!
Nice video. The components inside are so delicate. I don’t know why the manufacturers make it difficult to replace a battery, it’s so planet unfriendly. Imagine taking out your vita after a couple of months and finding the battery dead. Most people would just put it back and assume the device is dead. Also the rechargeable batteries should be made a standard , like aaa and aa batteries , so they are easier to find and replace.
Wow, that was surprisingly a lot easier than I imagined it would be. Its convenient the battery pack was placed on the back panel. Luckily, my 6-7 year old Vita battery still holds a good charge, but in the future, I'll at least know its a pretty simple swap out procedure.
Excellent video. Nice and organized. Thank you. The type of ribbon connector was the determining factor on whether I swapped batteries. I've broken the ones that have a thin bar that flips up and down to clamp the ribbon.
Bro, I just successfully replaced my battery. Thanks to you and this video, it went well although I have zero experience in this kind of thing. You made it so simple!
I've done the same thing with drawing where the screws go. I ended up getting a silicone mat with little magnetic spots to keep the screws organized too, but the doodle definitely helps us who just do occasional fixes. And pictures. I take pictures of each step to make sure I put it back together correctly.
Bought a friend's old vita to try out Persona 4 Golden, after a month ran into the battery life issue and followed your guide once I've bought a battery, I appreciate the help and breakdown on what to do about it :)
Great video. I changed it successfully. The only thing i had problems with was separating the bottom part. But i used the guidance here, i separated the top first and inched my way to the bottom with the flat screwdriver, using it to pry it open carefully. Thanks a lot.
Thanks man. I was about to throw away my PSvita. I thought there was no way I could fix it. Saw your video and thought I would give it a try and back in business. The business with the paper is just brilliant. Thanks again mate.
Great guide! My old vita died a few months back so bought a Slim, then saw this video and bought a battery for my OLED and followed this guide and it now works like a charm. Now, which one should I use for homebrew...
Vince you've done very well with this video. I appreciate the guidance, not only on my behalf but as well as on the behalf of those who didn't thank you. For whatever that is worth.. Cheers man I wish you health and wealth!
Thank you for your video! I just received my 2nd hand ps vita and replaced the battery by following your instructions. I found that it is easier than I thought.
This video is really gold because I am trying to learn from this video how to install a rechargeable battery inside of a portable gaming consul like that one in the video, even though I have the tools and the talent to work on small items like this because I’ve done this before on the PS four gaming console a few years back during the time when it needed a cooling fan installed.
Wow this is the most detailed newb diy i've watched, actually i can't breath while watching this it's very heart pounding thanks now i can face my fear of disassembling my vita to replace the battery, question about the battery wire is there a chance that you could put it back wrong like on the other side or it doesn't matter?, sorry for my english.
Thanks Bro! Just replace my Original Battery that I got at Launch day! Your video was awesome! And the zoom in made all the difference! You are a hero! GREAT GREAT WORK!!
Hey Vince, wanted to give you a shout out and thank u for this video. My first electronics fix was replacing the battery in my Vita last night. Really appreciate u breaking it down for us noobs. Keep up the great videos
The plastic spudger is meant to pull off the ribbon connectors. The metal screw driver can scratch up the motherboard and tear up the cables. Just a little fyi there. Forgot to mention that a guitar pick is EXCELLENT for prying open phones and things of this sort as well.
I did everything in your video and it made a popping sound I made sure the ribbon was in and other one too. The orange light on but it won't go on maybe need to charge long
So my Vita still has it's original battery from 2014 or god knows when. I used it heavily for a while but slowly stopped so it's been sitting in it's case for 4-5 years untouched. Is it necessary to at least remove the old battery? Is it gonna swell and ruin the unit?
This is a very helpful video but dear lord why do they make it this complicated? MY Vita barely lasted over 2 hours in a 2D game so yeah I need a new battery. At least it's not expensive but ugh.
Hey Vince, great video. I bought a PS Vita a week ago, a second hand and I'm constantly getting this error: "an error has occurred the ps vita system will be powered off" it happens with or without hack, with or without the memory card, while playing or on the main menu it just happens randomly. Someone suggested it might be that the battery is damaged, do you think replacing it would solve the problem? Thank you for any answers.
Thank you for video really good > < i may buy ps vita second hand and this video make me think it not hard to replace battery , Thank you so much for detail how to replace it
compared to other devices it is really easy, nothing clued or so. Sony made the Fat Vita really easy repairable, don't know how it looks on the slim, only opened my Fat one for now.

I got the job done in time, Thank you

Completely agree, followed his guide to the letter and it made this whole thing a much smoother affair!

I love these videos,
The OLED VITA is easier to remove and re-attach the back plate.
The LCD VITA requires more effort to reconnect the ribbon cable.
Can I have this guy as my life instructor?
He is so good at explaining, I am already pretty handy with electronics and do phone repairs and this video was amazing, so good for newcomers
Well done sir
Thanks just did my repair today. Long live the vita!
Amen!

thanks for the great video with the right amount of focus on each step. ps vita is working like new :D

Thank you! I Have had my dead ps vita for a few years now and had no idea that all I needed to do is change the battery!
Bought a friend's old vita to try out Persona 4 Golden, after a month ran into the battery life issue and followed your guide once I've bought a battery, I appreciate the help and breakdown on what to do about it :)
Eclipse Comics Wey aye, I’m gonna fix my battery so I can play it cause ion feel like playing it on PC since I want the authentic experience

Thanks for making this man. I got the new battery in and now it's ready for use!
Just did my repair. You just saved me a lot of money and time as I was planning to go to a repair shop. Amazing.
I was just curious how the inside looks. But this is a very detailed video on how to change the battery.
Will probably do it now, when I need to.
Your video is GREAT!!!! Followed your instructions and 15 minutes later new battery installed. Thanks again.
Great guide! My old vita died a few months back so bought a Slim, then saw this video and bought a battery for my OLED and followed this guide and it now works like a charm.
Now, which one should I use for homebrew...
Hands done the most helpful guide for this on the internet.
Great video, love how you focus on the important parts when disconnecting the ribbon and battery cable, and all the little tips. Thanks Vince.
Vince you've done very well with this video. I appreciate the guidance, not only on my behalf but as well as on the behalf of those who didn't thank you. For whatever that is worth.. Cheers man I wish you health and wealth!
Great production values... I am sure it was a pain in the ass to hunch over the camera while you were performing the work. RESPECT and thanks.
I don't have a PS Vita and still watched the whole video. Great job!
Thank you for your video! I just received my 2nd hand ps vita and replaced the battery by following your instructions. I found that it is easier than I thought.

I know it's a pain to do all that while recording it with a camera. Thank you for taking the time. w-

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!
Thank you, great tutorial. My day 1 Vita started showing inconsistent battery reports, just got around to changing it today.
Helped me with my replacement. Thanks!
This was hugely helpful, thank you very much !
Awesome video thank you … now i only need a ps vita 😅
Have you ever made a a video on how to tear it down and replace the lcd front panel and frame? I cant find a clear video anywhere! I have a PCH 1101
This is a very helpful video but dear lord why do they make it this complicated? MY Vita barely lasted over 2 hours in a 2D game so yeah I need a new battery. At least it's not expensive but ugh.
This was great! so easy to understand!!
awesome video! Great step by step and very detailed.
Thank you, for this informative video.
Is it possible to put a bigger battery in it?
Thanks mate for the guide nice and easy to do.
Very much appreciated. Thank you good sir
Very detailed video! Awesome work :)
Thank you for the detailed instructions
It helped a lot
This video is old and I’m doing the process rn but if you see this the battery connector (the white thingy) come off a bit will it still work?
The OLED model was much easier than the slim model IMO due to the easier to work with ribbon cable.
i don't feel comfortable doing this, thankfully there is someone close by that fixes game systems, but great video
The Vita oled and slim is same battery? I want to change my sim battery in my oled vita
Thank you so much just changed my vita battery
Handy for the future, thanks!
Nice tip with this sheet of paper! 😊😊
Hey Vince, great video. Good video, ty^^
Is this battery is better than the original ?

compared to other devices it is really easy, nothing clued or so. Sony made the Fat Vita really easy repairable, don't know how it looks on the slim, only opened my Fat one for now.
What exactly is the battery called I'm having trouble finding it and I'd like to buy a backup while they're still available
Thanks a million for this helpful guide
