Good thing i kept my microfiber cloth from my gba sp (ags 101 that i got eight years ago when gamestop still sold gba systems) and ds lite (that i got 2 or 3 years ago and gamestop is still trying to get rid of them but can't because of the dsi and 3ds)
This video might be a bit older but given how those became a lot more relevant in the hacking community right now, it's always good to add to it: The older PS Vita, the fat OLED one, you can have an issue where the battery shows up as low even after just about 10 minutes of playing after a full charge, but when you go back to main menu it shows up as full again. It may even enter suspended mode during your game because of low battery, but go back to menu and full charge again. This does not necessarily mean a bad battery, in fact more often than not it can just be a bug on the battery meter. This is solved by opening the back of the device (total of 8 Philips 00 screws, 4 on back, 2 around USB/charge port, and 2 around the unused expansion on top, covered by the flap). You just unplug the battery and plug it back after some few minutes or maybe even seconds disconnected. This resets this meter, and also zeroes your clock, so you have to re-set it to correct date, but may fix this battery issue for free. Mine had this problem, and in my case it was annoying to open because the previous owner(s) dropped it enough to break one of the screw posts out, so it wouldn't come out without drilling the screw broken. Of course, I did get what I paid for and it was the cheapest working one with an 8GB card and protection case to boot. Not regretting in the slightest -this got longer than I expected, hope it at least helps someone-

For me personally there were another few technical as well as visual advantages to choosing the second (slim) model as well that I thought some people may want to be made aware of, if you want to get into collecting games for the system they could be quite handy to know: Micro USB charging- Sony will inevitably stop making the proprietary charger for the first model and all the ones out there will stop working at some point so unless you're good at soldering it's advantageous to go for the second model, or if you just want to be able to have a very common cable lying about to charge it with whenever. The start, select & PS buttons are more ergonomically friendly- They are bigger and circular, easier to press and not recessed into the front face, this could be an issue of accessibility for some if they choose the first model. No false metal trim- This means it won't chip off over time leaving the system looking newer for a longer time Inbuilt memory- The second model comes with 1GB of internal storage for getting you started, on the first model you need a memory card (proprietary again) to even get your PSN profile on the system and these don't come cheap, you won't be able to even play a game without one, so bear this in mind. Everything else I think you covered with the better battery life and stuff, but anyway I just wanted to point these out to people if they're considering buying one of the models :)

@@egdirkcol It's been great! It's a Japanese import, slim model and came with a 64 GB memory card, which is what made it a great deal for me. I've mainly been playing PS1 games (I didn't realize those could be played on Vita/transferred from PS3, meaning I already owned 5 Vita games before even buying the system). I definitely believe the Vita is the best way to play PS1 games these days, blowing those up on a big flat screen is not ideal. SotN and Metal Gear Solid on the go are incredible and I'm much more likely to plow through my JRPG backlog (Suikoden II, Grandia, Wild Arms, etc) on the Vita than I would be on my PS3. My only complaint is the placement of the speakers right under the thumbsticks. It's so easy to accidentally cover up a speaker when holding it one handed or every time you take one hand of the system for whatever reason. Minor annoyance overall, especially since I normally wear headphones, but I can't tell you the number of times I've thought "huh, this sounds weird" before quickly realizing my thumb is on the speaker again. I also bought Tearaway and Freedom Wars and it came with AC: Chronicles (which is the only one I've played so far, seems decent). I'll definitely buy Gravity Rush, Persona 4 Golden and Trails in the Sky, one of my favorite RPGs ever. To be honest...most of my portable time has been spent with Etrian Odyssey II on DS recently...I love that series
I've noticed the used Vitas and PSP's are being jacked up by sellers lately.... Heck PSP systems should be $40-50 at MOST yet finding one that's not defective and or thrashed for under $50 is almost impossible. Vita's are actually selling for almost the same price as a lot of the PSP systems, right now is the time to buy a Vita cause lots of people are losing interest. The Vita IMHO is the best GAMING device ever made, its everything I wanted the PsP to be and yet Sony let it die and made it to expensive to use memory cards. 😡 I just scored a Vita 1000 for less than a PSP 😁 Can't wait to play some Y's games! Games will be so hard to find in a few years, I love that system and collecting will be so fun.
I have my slim model that I bought when it was still brand new in stores. I paid $200 for that one. I wanted to get a second vita for a low price this time. I found another slim in good condition for $75. Didn't come with a memory card though so I will looking for one. Didn't come with a charger but I already have one of those. Im hoping to come across a white 1000 model. Always liked that one.
Oh yeah the white phats are cool, they look slick with the blue glow of the power button 😁 Japanese imports are not to bad priced if you find a good seller with either free or low cost shipping you can score systems in great shape. I was told that Japanese culture are not big on used devices so they don't sale well in Japan most used systems must be sold outside of the country, p!us they take good care of their stuff. The Vita1000 that I want is the Soul Sacrifice red special edition which has 500 gigs!!! of memory built in 😮😮😮😮 I've seen just the system for $150 but most are in the $300 range ....I wish I had the money to blow cause I'd buy that thing in a heart beat. Lol ya got me wanting to buy a white one now 😂 I freaking love these handhelds.
@@Airik1111bibles Yea japan seems to always have these things in great shape. I just brought a pre-owned off eBay. Payed £100 although I've seen them go for £80 ish. My one seems to be in near mint condition seller claims to have only used it once or twice. From the pictures I can't see any visible scratches or finger prints even. I'm anxious for it to arrive as if vita that I brought is in such great condition I would say £100 was a steal. Your video is prepping me for my future haha.

just picked up a brand-new PS Vita for £80, pristine!! it came with a game (Killzone Mercenary) 16GB memory card , earphones , ps vita case , cloth , charger and some accessories all for £80!!!! im so blessed and greatful !!
One thing that isn't said here: the D-pad and analog stick to navigate the main menu is an option that must be activated in the settings and is not on buy default on old firmware versions, i thought the one i got didn't work but it turned out the option wasn't active.
Well for the front touch screen is important but everything else not really since a lot of games doesn't really use motion controls and also doesn't use the rear touch pad.
I used to own one when I was 20 years old sold it to my brother later on I recently ordered a ps vita lime green slim and a memory card so this video helps me to know if anything is messed up with it plus I have to wait till Friday on the 21st till it arrives

I'm looking at an item on eby at the moment that has several days to go, but it has a fault with the start button........do you think it could be something as simple as buying a new set of start/select buttons and replacing them. or could it be something more serious?
Great video just purchased the slim model in great condition just with one issue, the wifi seems to disconnect often, any ideas !!! even when I'm close to router it drops
I bought a broken PS Vita phat from cashies for a very respectable price, the charge port whas busted, i converted it to a micro usb on the top, in place of the accessory port (which isn't being used by anything anyway) and i have to say, its way more convienent! I can charge and sync through this connector and i know now, that if this installed port fails again in the future, i can replace it with a 50 cents one instead of a 25 bucks one! Yes, the original charge port is VERY expensive! Now, i don't need any special vita cables, any micro usb cable will work. And since my headphones are also micro usb, i always have a cable with me everywhere i go. My vita in total costed me 80 euro's with a 16gb module included in that price, which is awesome! You can only buy a vita for that money secondhand so i am more than pleased!
Is the back touch pad pressure sensitive? A good example is GT Sport where it uses R2 L2 buttons of the Dual Shock 4 and depending on how much pressure on the L2/R2 buttons, I can control the acceleration and braking.
It’s now 2020 and my vita is still new condition and I have the boxes and Eveything how much is it worth ? I have the ps vita white with assassins creed.
Hi.... I have problem my vita not being detected by PC (Windows 10) using USB, let alone as a camera device. No matter whether I was using Vitashell or QCMA, it seems that the USB connection from my vita is not being detected at all. No notification sound or whatsoever. I'll try to connect to android box (using the USB Camera app) but still no luck. I've tried using 2 new cable but nothing being detected. Not even a Windows sound (as when detecting an USB connection). It seems like the USB data transfer has been disabled/ dead. But my Vita still can charge. My Vita is 1000 model on 3.60 Enso using SD2VITA 512GB full games with 8GB original Sony memory card, working well. I bought it second hand. I have 3 charging cables, all for test, but with no avail. They can charge but nothing on data transfer. When I plugged the cable, there wasn't a notification/ loading icon. What is wrong then?
Might be just me, but I would never buy pre-owned consoles. I always take real good care of my devices and buying second hand is just not an option. Have people never heard of tempered glass/silicone protectors? How people let their devices get all scratched/scuffed/dented goes through me.
Such a great video, i am about to buy ps vita slim tomorrow, and i hope it will be useful for me,, i have one question as ps vita slim has 1 gb memory,, and i am getting a fifa 15 game with ps vita slim, so please guide me it will play without memory card or i should buy memory card,, and if i buy memory card so 4gb is enough to play games (not downloading games), just use game cd to play games
I don't know if your question has been answered but I'll still reply. If you have the physical copy of the game (i.e the cartridge) then you don't need the memory card to install the game as it will only need about 5MB of free space. 99% of the data will run on the cartridge. You'll only need a memory card if you're planning on buying games from the PSN store. If you're going to buy everything physical then 1GB is completely enough.
It depends on what you prefer. I prefer the slim because in my eyes there's more perks to owning it in comparison to the OLED version. The OLED's only real perk in my opinion is the slightly better looking screen. The slim is less thick, lighter, and has around an hour more of battery life. With how little the difference of screens are, I'd still take the slim any day.
Just bought the original “fat” vita and when comparing it against the slim, the original is better. Its better built and feels more premium has better screen and the battery life is good. Slim is still good and il probably buy one to have as a backup.

I just scored a Vita 1000 for less than a PSP 😁 Can't wait to play some Y's games!
I bought a deep red psp 2000 ( god of war edition) in great shape with permanent custom firmware already installed for $32. Those things normally go for around $100. I got it on ebay from a Japanese seller. When they bid they start really low on their psp's.
Goodwill was selling PSP's from $10-$20 , now they have up the price for $40 and $50!
@@RustyX2010 I scored an Xbox cause my fourth one died recently red ring AGAIN and it was one of the black ones with touch sensitive buttons to only $15 from goodwill and we had the hard drive so score!
My house is an Xbox 360 grave yard 4 dead ones ....We have 1 ps3 which tells ya how awesome those systems are and a PS2 with a bazillion games. I also have a Wii and Wii U both are dusty paper weights , two original Xbox , Ps4, Xbox one , PSP 1000 &3000 and all I use is my VITA and PSP 1000.
My sons hardly touch the newer systems cause we built them a computer , it took them a couple Bdays and Christmas but they finally got it built and WOW is all I can say. Freaking games are amazing they are turning into snobby pirates now😂
I just brought a pre-owned off eBay.

Thanks a lot bro...!!! Very informative video and helped me a lot for purchasing my 1st Vita after running all the checks you suggested and after cross checking all the buttons and triggers and motion sensors by doing the welcome park method...!!!
just picked up a brand-new PS Vita for £80, pristine!! it came with a game (Killzone Mercenary) 16GB memory card , earphones , ps vita case , cloth , charger and some accessories all for £80!!!! im so blessed and greatful !!
That's an such good deal where did you get it from?
In 2020 still the best video on how to test your vita! Buying one today
One thing that isn't said here: the D-pad and analog stick to navigate the main menu is an option that must be activated in the settings and is not on buy default on old firmware versions, i thought the one i got didn't work but it turned out the option wasn't active.
Very useful, easy understanding guideline. Thank you.
Very helpful as I am buying a used one today. Thanks.
such a helpful guy
Thanks

I know right
Well for the front touch screen is important but everything else not really since a lot of games doesn't really use motion controls and also doesn't use the rear touch pad.
I used to own one when I was 20 years old sold it to my brother later on I recently ordered a ps vita lime green slim and a memory card so this video helps me to know if anything is messed up with it plus I have to wait till Friday on the 21st till it arrives
I didn't even check my one when getting it from CEX, yet it still all functions properly! It is a PS Vita PCH-1003, with the charger cables and AC adapter included. No memory card included. Ordered one from Amazon, took a few days, but it was worth it to unlock the full capabilities of my PS Vita! :D
You're a goddamn lifesaver. I'm about to get a Vita in 2 hours. Let's hope it's all working fine, coz I've been waiting for this chance to make history.
Did you get it
@@PrivateBryan Yep. Still works to this day. I don't use it much, but I love that thing.
@@TanayVaidya wow, I didn't actually think you'd reply especially after 3 years lol, I actually bought a used ps vita myself for about 120 dollars and I'm pretty excited albeit nervous

Love this video u very fast and don't waste time.. . Bought one for 100 euros with 16gb card and 13 games...it all works
Im going to buy ps vita from Shoppe and I know it second hand so this video is very helping for me..thnks
Someone may have installed Henkaku on a PS Vita and reset it if you get a used one. You never know it could be damaged.
I’ve heard that people are replacing the OLED screens with lcd screens. Is there a way to check for that?
The right analog stick is it supposed to work when your not playing a game? The left analog stick works when your on home screen but the right one doesn't is that normal?
Yes it’s normal the right is for camera angle in games and stuff
2022 and im still shocked at how much tech they crammed in this handheld
In the networks settings what is the mobile network settings for its at 9:12 (i only want to know if it is for a sim card or not)
Thank you for being through. Great video.
Great video Vince!
Thank you :-)
my psvita got in water and it stopped working. I checked inside heated it up and the battery cable ripped i put it on by super glue and i broke it im looking at it now.

my tilt not funtion.. any have a solution for fix it?
I got a used 1104 vita with barely any marks, original charger, two games along with their boxes, two 4GB memory cards, and a carrying case for just 70€
Best deal i've ever had
Holy SHIT
@@KoolestDudeNTheBlock Yeah. All thanks to how long it takes to charge after the battery depletes. Me and the seller were in my car (I wanted to try it out) i was using my usb car charger, but it just wouldn't turn on. since i was in a hurry, i made him that offer and he accepted it

by default, the buttons will not work on the main menu, you can enable it in the settings
Great tutorial thanks!
You don’t need a memory card on the slim to get started it has internal storage
I’m going to get used white one from my local retro game store for $150, hope it’ll work once I test all this
Thank you for the video it helped me a lot i just bought a slim last night, the screen is really good that i think it's been replaced, is there a way to know if the previous owner replaced the screen ?
I Ordered one off ebay for £40 It came with 5 games and accessories. It was a real bargain
that dude regreit it fr
Me agrada tu canal y tu formato de videos es muy genial saludos bro :v

I'm looking at an item on eby at the moment that has several days to go, but it has a fault with the start button........do you think it could be something as simple as buying a new set of start/select buttons and replacing them. or could it be something more serious?
Thank God, I saw this video! It really helps a lot!
9:36 is a series of unfortunate events reference
Is the back touch pad pressure sensitive? A good example is GT Sport where it uses R2 L2 buttons of the Dual Shock 4 and depending on how much pressure on the L2/R2 buttons, I can control the acceleration and braking.
Yay! My Vita of choice is shipped!
Good video. It helped me a lot. Thank you.
There isnt a tutorial to see if the triggers work?
Wolf Namina when you have 3 or more apps open you can use the triggers to select an app
Thanks Vince

Yeah it really pisses me off that they can't spend a bit more money on protection.
Thank you this helped a lot
Thanks, quite useful, mate.

I hope u understand what i wanna ask... please reply me early

@@jc9622 not if you want to own every game out there (me with psp)
Is it free two play online on psvita
No, just like PS4 you have to buy monthly membership to play online. Edit: My bad, it isn't unless you do remote play
It's totally free just like on PS3
It's free but not too much people play online..the only active games are : killzone mercenary, cod bo declassified, nfs mw and minecraft

hello please a wrap n a back touch protector which one goes first
how to test the select button?
@Mister Donkey I manage to check all the buttons.
took me 5 hours to find out.
glad there are games and pre-installed tool that I can use to test it.
Ugh it's 2017 and I know all of the differences of the original and Slim vita. Would I be alright getting the OLED vita in 2017?
The oled one is superior
TheScoun16 no go with a gay ass gameboy
It depends on what you prefer. I prefer the slim because in my eyes there's more perks to owning it in comparison to the OLED version. The OLED's only real perk in my opinion is the slightly better looking screen. The slim is less thick, lighter, and has around an hour more of battery life. With how little the difference of screens are, I'd still take the slim any day.
Just bought the original “fat” vita and when comparing it against the slim, the original is better. Its better built and feels more premium has better screen and the battery life is good.
Slim is still good and il probably buy one to have as a backup.
TheScoun16 yes it's the best one
Im want to buy to a ps vita 2000 and a 1000 but all the ps vita 1000s i can buy are all used so i needed To know what to check if it was faulty
Thanks for the video
My PCH1000 is still working and it's almost 5 yrs old
Search through numbers of videos to fix my vita i know theres alot that got it figured out, heck took me half hour to fix, but i was thrown off by the charge port cause my model has a type "B" charger, not the wide ones I've been seeing, but got a little rough cause of the back touch screen ribbon but i managed to put that thing back in, i didnt have the proper tools at all, my vita had a dead battery problem and i just saw a vid where they mentioned about just simply unplugging the battery from the vita for 10 seconds and plugged it back i. It worked out for me! Glad i didnt have to wait for a new battery, my model was i think the psvita wifi? Not sure if there's another name for it but yea not alot of ps vita fix up vids that are like mine, still managed tho luckily..
Me who already bought a second hand vita before watching: *chuckles im in danger*
