5:22 that's Micro USB B 3.0/3.1/3.2. It's not a proprietary port. It's perfectly retrocompatible with Micro USB B 2.0 and it was often used on external 2.5'' hard drives and on some phones with usb 3.0 capability which came out before the creation of USB Type C, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Awesome video. I have the slim and the OLED model. The charger port always annoyed me and the Sony memory cards, that was a big mistake on their part. Underrated console though, way ahead of it's time.
A subscriber told me about how flexible this device is once you jailbreak it, and it's been my daily driver ever since. Like you said, way ahead of it's time. Thanks for watching and your thoughts!
You are giving me confidence that I can swap mine. I purchased it. Modded it. It works amazing. But it looks rougghhhhh. And wants to freshen it up with a white or blue shell. I’ll come back here if I ever get the guts to follow through. Great vid!
Make sure to get the exact thumbstick cap for your model. The ones for the 1k and 2k are not interchangeable. While they may seem to work fine at first, if you open VitaTester, you can see that even though you're pushing the stick to the max range, some directions won't be registered as max range. Thus, in some games, eg. Gravity Rush, you won't be able to run in those directions and in the home screen, you can tell that you can't scroll the pages up/down when continuously pushing the stick up/down. When I changed back to the original cap, the problem went away. I tried multiple times but still had the same problem. I even went as far as making mod so that the 2k will work on the 1k but never succeeded. Upon inspection, I found that the length and the prong at the end of the caps of the 1k and 2k are slightly different. That may be the reason making the sticks inaccurate if the caps are interchanged. (Edited to make some parts clearer)
I've kinda been thinking about doing a USB-C mod to my 1000, but I'm also considering just replacing my 1000 with a 2000 because I hate how thick it is... Can't decide lol
2:02 those parts aren't "missing" they got removed to cut cost by sony they are not strictly nessecary i reckon this ps vita came with a minimum firmware above 2.00
I read that old oled screens weren't optimized back then. They ate more power than an lcd screen. So there's a trade-off in battery power vs. screen quality.
Awesome ! Did you upgrade the battery ? I dont' if it is a thing i did it for 3ds but i don't know if I can find some for my vita Sorry for commenting years after 😂
the transition started one year ago from me posting this comment, society has stopped calling them joysticks and now calls them joycons, what a time to be alive, also why did you dropped small smds on a towel!?
Hey so I’m thinking about Buying a lot of PSP 1000 that are sold as parts but After watching ur video I was wondering if you could make a video doing repair/restoring a psp 1000
i have PS Vita slim 2000, it has no sound but when i use earphone/aux it is working. Where do you think the problem is? on my speaker/board or something?
It took me a while to realise that the Joy Cons you were referring to was the analog sticks T_T. JoyCons are the names for the Nintendo Switch Controllers just like the DualShock 4 is the name for the PS4 controllers.
It's called an analog stick, not a joycon. A joycon is the name of the Switch controller just like how DualShock is the name for PS controllers. The PS VITA 1000 comes default with hall effect analogs. You're just swapping the analog head instead.
Just imagine if they were refurbishing and selling them officially... I suppose you can't do it legally (and i doubt that it would bring you much profit compared to work that needs to be done), but that looks amazing. As for all the common users like myself, it's easier to stick with 2000
Is there a way I contact with you please? Because I want to fix my ps vita 2000 battery with a new one which is 3.6V and I am not getting it anywhere. So help me please 😢
First of all, I am in love with the looks of the vita, i desire one and i would pay in my blood for it, second, what does no sim mean? Can it have a sim card????
hi there, recently i saw your video about repairing a sub's Sega nomad, it was a great video. recently i got a game boy micro, it was for parts, but i checked the pictures and it showed the screen worked but the back light was not. so, i thought okay! ill get this and a new screen. fast forward to now, i realized that this game boy micro was previously opened up, the 4 pin backlight ffc connector was broken off, the pads are still there, just the top of the plastic clasp is gone i bought two replacement ffc connectors, but my soldering skills are not super great. there's also a botch wire installed that i was told is not stock i feel id botch up the repair more than id help it be resolved. if i sent it in, could you try your best to repair it? or something? at best it would make for an entertaining video, at worst the repair doesn't work. got my game boy micro originally at a shop called game crazy, i was thinking that gbm i got would have been a simple screen replacement, i was definitely wrong. not quite sure who else to ask. ill follow up with any info if needed

Bro, I was really enjoying this video just for the fun of it. But why are you screaming as if your mic has low gain? It's like you're straining your voice. I'm sorry if this is what you sound like. I'm not trying to be mean. It's just that it feels like you're trying to let out as much air as you can in one sentence that you're trying to get out. It's very distracting. But again, I am very sorry. I don't want to sound mean.
Ok i really tried to sit through this entire video and just couldnt. The dings are so repeditive, you keep calling a joystick a joycon, and you just wont stop yelling!
this guy screams in lower case
ratchet and clank npc type beat
Wanted to watch but stopped once in noticed his weird "enthusiastic/energetic" way he talks
he sounds like the foodwishes guy with a frat acccent

@@fridjeit's useful as you can still plug it with the normal micro USB

Joy-con means Joy Controller

Something I just found out recently, at 6:58, you can use the fuse on the other side for charge and power. it's a much more direct path.
My only issue is doing this on carpet
was a towel to protect the digitizer, but yeah. Flux and towel strands did not go well 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the comment!
I thought it was for comical value, guaranteed to get a rise
It was clearly a towel
Nooce
This was pretty in-depth and well narrated. Alternatively, I hate so much that you called them joy-cons.
Spot on video, building my confidence to usb-c my vita so watching a lot😂

i thought its gonna be an Oled Vita but bro replaced the "digitizer" which also includes the display with an LCD istead of Oled panel

If the 1000's thickness bugs you, no mod will fix that. Do what will give you the least regrets!

just use my vita 2000 beside not LED screen and not having some sort of hall effect analog stick in 1000 everything else is perfect.
there's something cursed about soldering on a towel/carpet

switched the oled screen for an lcd?

You can actually install some plugins for lcd to look more like oled and it works pretty well

Ebay if youre in the states.
