    I found this very helpful. I’m abt to do my 2000 lesabre and wasn’t sure of the complexity seeing how I’ve Nvr messed w/a compressor swap. Good job bro. Thanks!

      Glad it was useful! I bet the 2000model is slightly different so let me know how it goes!

      My replacement compressor had a female thread rather than stud so I had to go to the hardware store a couple times to get the right size bolt for the lines. It’s always something. lol. But otherwise it went well. Holds without leaks👍🏻

    Just did mine today. Came out easy with the passenger wheel off and the plastic under tray removed

      That’s a perfect method too

      Center bolt spins?

      @TotalDIY2737  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pins? There was just the compressor wiring harness and 3 bolts I recall?

    How do you identify if it’s bad? I have a slight knocking sound which is intermittent and only when the a/c is on from that area on my Oldsmobile 88 with the 3800 series 2. Could that mean the ac compressor is on the way out or normal sound? Ac works fine so far.

    • @TotalDIY2737
      @TotalDIY2737  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically I wouldn’t associate a “knocking” sound with it going out. Mine was more of a growling/grinding sound as the belt turned the pulley which wasn’t at all lubricated and pretty rusty. I would do some searching to see if you can first identify if the knocking seems to be coming from in the engine or if it’s truly an engine part. Sorry if that wasn’t the answer you were looking for…

      @@TotalDIY2737 You're probably right. Mechanic thinks it may be a different pulley but to just drive it for now unless it gets worse.

    how long did it actually take to do, and what was the level of difficulty for you? thanks

      I would say following the steps I gave it took me 2-3 hours. Granted I was figuring it out as I went so I would say it’s an intermediate job depending on knowledge of cars. Also having the new Ac compressor ready to install including making sure if has enough lubricator oil in it first makes things go quicker!

    Any details on the brand you replaced with?Chinese model? What has been the reliability of that model so far?

    • @TotalDIY2737
      @TotalDIY2737  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! It was a denso from rockauto.com & has worked great since replacing mid summer!

    • @mobilecommunicationsnetwor5268
      @mobilecommunicationsnetwor5268 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TotalDIY2737 I think you made a good choice. Denso is normally from Japan. Did you check to see where yours was
      manufactured from?

      I did not no, I assumed in the US being it’s GM but I guess I could be way off as the prior owner could have replaced it as well

      @@mobilecommunicationsnetwor5268 We have more than a few Denso plants here in Michigan, they are good folks to work with, well organized when compared to the Chinese suppliers that now dominate the automotive supplier racket. Quality products from my experience.

    Sliding out the compressor from the passenger side, tire removed ,once it's removed and up on jacks could also be an option.

      Good point! I actually just did that exact method on my Impala so proof that works!

    My cooling fan #1 stop wrking I checked all fuses and all are good I noticed the AC is not wrking. Could that also be why my cooling fan #1 wont engage?

    • @TotalDIY2737
      @TotalDIY2737  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe those work independently from each other, but if they stopped working at the same time, have you checked if the wires run alongside each other? I suppose it’s possible both melted or the wires broke from heat? Otherwise unfortunately could be two separate issues.
      If the fuses work, have you checked voltage at the connector going into the fan? If that has power maybe just the fan needs replacing and not the harness and wiring.

      Thanks for your reply.. I did check the voltage. I will have my mechanic too at wiring thanks again

      I’m sorry you didn’t find it helpful - I meant for this video to be informational. I meant to explain step by step on how to replace - I was unable to film the actual replacement so this was just a recap for anyone who could be stuck.
