    I have an a;mmo box that has a small diameter chain specifically for taking the fans off of cars. I'm able to secure it with one of the bolts and then with a long wrench (usually adjustable) I love tap the wrench with a rubber mallet. Works great. I was replacing the gear box on a 1997 Expedition and had to remove the stupid fan 3 or 4 times. Didn't intend to get so good at doing it.

    Thanks for sharing. The system doesn’t need to be vacuumed, tested for leaks and charged with Freon?

    I didn't understand. Why drain the oil from the new compressor and then put it back in? Also was the oil freon?

    • @jimmoore4643
      @jimmoore4643 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are 8 oz total in the system. It's spread throughout the entire system. The theory is that you drain the oil from the compressor, then replace that exact amount so you still have 8 oz in the system.

    How’d you get the bottom bolts off, mine hit the frame from being long and now I’m stuck.

      Cut em with a die grinder bud

    • @TicoTimeCR
      @TicoTimeCR 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just removed mine. Neither bottom bolt could be removed with the compressor in place. The front was also hitting the frame. Make sure they are fully unthreaded, then rock the compressor up and forward. Took me quite a few tries from both the side and underneath, but it eventually came free.

    Is this engine the 4.8 or 5.3 ls?

  • @HookLineSinger
    @HookLineSinger 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Appreciate it, but you went from taking the tire off to zoomed in on the compressor, so that still doesn’t show people exactly where it’s located. Not all viewers are mechanically inclined.

    • @PPGDV
      @PPGDV 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Obviously he’s on the bottom side since the tire had to come off. It’s on the front of the engine since there were belts. If it doesn’t take a belt, you’re wrong. If your new compressor is in hand and what you’re taking off doesn’t look like it, you’re wrong. If you’re doing this job and it takes the camera going from outside the truck and slowly into where the compressor is located, you just need someone else doing it.

      @@PPGDVor maybe just a better video, like my original comment. 👍 Thanks for your advice, though.
