Cheap "bone dry" play sand from any store works great. You can't have any moisture in it or it will not feed. Make sure you position the sand blasting attachment tip on the wand so the hose faces up, and not down. Water will want to run down into the sand suction hose and will clog the flow of sand. I black tape the suction hose for the nozzle to the wand so its always facing up when in use.
I bought a cheap $25 one from Amazon. It’s the same thing just not nearly as quality. Plastic vs metal. I blasted an entire boat with it and it worked amazingly. If I ever need this again and the one I have breaks, I’ll buy a quality one like this with a replaceable nozzle.
Can't wait till my black powder coat arrives, satisfied with the paint, they should have an easier way to track the package on the site! You should be able to type in the search "my east wood orders" You don't need variations between companies with tracking, thats why I like that at least amizon has that option!
I cannot find the TH-cam or Facebook for the live sessions. Have they been cancelled? I also looked on the website and mentioned it when I called Eastwood. They knew nothing about it. Please provide the information.
Just use phosphoric acid with distilled water diluted %40-60 depending on your strength needs To soak bolts or parts for days do a %20 phos / %80 distilled water Add some hand sanitizer gel to make it adhere to the part and apply with a chip brush from harbor freight
So I don't have a tire changer, but I need to blast the wheels of rust it currently has on it. Can I blast the wheels with the tires on? Simply, would it harm the tires if I were to hit the tires in the process? Can't take the tires off and then blast the wheels because that would mean I would have to leave the car at a garage while I blast the wheels. Trying to do the work myself as cost effectively as possible. Thanks.
We have successfully used blasting sand, glass fragments, glass beads, glass powder, garnet, ground ceramic and soda. Also aluminum oxide, but had some difficulty with feeding.
Why use Ground Glass instead of sand? I used sand for 30 years until I found out it was a hazard from free floating silicates but with Wet blasting there is no dust.
we just got the Eastwood dual sand blaster. Hoping to remove the paint from our fiberglass pool. Any suggestions? We are not having much luck. Thank you
This is the worse product I've ever bought from Eastwood! Sorry but I had very poor results from my unit. The hose seems to collapse and not allow media to flow threw it. I called Eastwood and they happily refunded my money which was nice.
Its the worst hose type for this application. You can see it kink over edge of bucket in the video. When are companies gonna learn. Build it right, equals less refunds.
I have this also and like you guys I was less than impressed, I replaced the suctioning hose with a hose made for farm seeding and spray equipment. I think I bought it at Rural King but any farm supply store will have it. It is working fine now, unfortunately companies like Eastwood have to buy Chineses to stay competitive and inferior products are just the norm from there, you have to adapt to overcome.
I would really like to see a compressor / pressure washer combination system. Most guys have a sub decent gas washer (2.5gpm) to push the water, and a decent 80gal/110psi air supply to push the media. Anything bigger, well you would have a pro shop, and a pro blaster. I'm thinking of a cyclone delivery nozzle that combines pressurized media and water in the tip. That would strip your filler. It would just have to be better than sand blasting while someone holds a hose on the work. :)
Hey Matt Missed the live show by just minutes! Now, if you all want to "educate and inspire" us DIY guys, try using more (IE: adequate) protection equipment. Try using a full face and ear guard, or at the least a full face shield. When I use my (just) pressure washer I put on a full Frog Toggs rainsuit and my full face shield. Maybe Eastwood should look into carrying full face gear? Honestly Matt, it wasn't much fun having that stuff all come back at you, was it?
There has to be sufficient abrasive media in the stream to clean. The larger and complex apart to be cleaned is, the more blast media will be required. We have a similar unit that we reclaim and reuse the media continuously. There is some loss, but we generally recover greater than 85 percent. I caution anyone and everyone that uses one of these or similar units to use adequate and proper PPE, especially head and face protection, we experience a lot of return/reflected spray loaded with blast media that ends up on/in the operators face/eyes/nose/mouth/ears/hair, clothes/pockets and in every nook and cranny possible. I recommend a Tyvek full coverage chem (bunny) jump suit, rubber boots, gloves and a full coverage media blast hood.
I wish i researched this product before buying it. So at a minimum your going to pay 900.00 for a pressure washer that will work in order to use this product
I bought a Simpson 4400 PSI pressure washer for $699 New. It's 4 GPM with a 50' hose. I ordered it from Lowes. Model #: 60843 Watch the vids, you will be impressed.
@@ronedee I didn't even know you could rent them. I just called my local HD and they rent em for $100 a day. Good thing I saw your comment. Now I can return my $800 pressure washer i just bought and use those savings towards other things for my project. 73 dodge w200. Thank you good sir!
One of the things that makes this product cost effective, is for those who already have a pressure washer, if you don't, then why not buy a dedicated machine for blasting or pay somemeone to do your blasting. It's another option, so don't knock it ;).

I made the exact system. But I found adding a power pot and a ball valve you can control the water media better. You can use that wet or dry

Does it work on tattoos
That’s basically a water symphony filter you can get at any hardware store. But yeah the wet blaster is so much better than dry

Do they answer questions?
Is this available in Australia? Also, is the media recyclable, can it be swept up and dried out and reused? Cheers👍🇦🇺👍
Would something like this be able to knock of rust that already flaking and peeling?
I cannot find the TH-cam or Facebook for the live sessions. Have they been cancelled? I also looked on the website and mentioned it when I called Eastwood. They knew nothing about it. Please provide the information.
If I use the after blast, do I have to clean that off some how before I prime and paint or undercoat? Thank you
Yes. You need to clean that off
Ik a heat gun softens body filler and will make it very easy to scrape off
I have a craftsman 2800psi gas powered pressure washer I think it does 2.3 or 2.4 gallons per minute will that be enough to power for this system?
3.5 gpm is recommended
Cool product
If I understand correctly, the After Blast will act as a rust inhibitor. Therefore I don't need to apply a primer right away, right?
Generally 72 hours. It's not going to flash rust, but you want to epoxy prime it ASAP.
Just use phosphoric acid with distilled water diluted %40-60 depending on your strength needs
To soak bolts or parts for days do a %20 phos / %80 distilled water
Add some hand sanitizer gel to make it adhere to the part and apply with a chip brush from harbor freight
Looks like an awesome product

Use soda
Use heavy tape around the rim perimeter and don’t hold the tip right at the tyre. The rims will blast great
What's the unit worth
Hello, how You remove the afterblast to paint?
It does not need to be removed.
The Afterblast looks like phosphoric acid. It is an adhesion promoter and prevents rust. I personally would use Metal Prep - same as phosphoric acid.
Is there any other type of media you can use with this system?
We have successfully used blasting sand, glass fragments, glass beads, glass powder, garnet, ground ceramic and soda.
Also aluminum oxide, but had some difficulty with feeding.
ca-ca.

I see the 10/40 glass blast media which I presume is the proper media to use with this tool ? But shipping is $50 ? Is it because the weight, 50lbs ?
What about stripping off powdercoating? I guessing probably not.
Try Down To Metal Stripper: www.eastwood.com/eastwood-down-to-metal-paint-powder-stripper.html
I have seen this type of media blaster used and when the metal is not dried quick enough you get flash rust .
Pressure and volume of water per minute?
Said 3.5-10 gallons per minute.
After your done can u apply epoxy primer or do u have to still sand it then apply primer
BodyShopMafia 1992 Usually as soon as you finish blasting as long as it is dry it is possible to epoxy immediately after blasting
Ryan Haslett thanks
spray with POR-15"metal prep", etching primer, keeping, All surfaces wet, for 15-20 minutes, rinse, blow dry, with compressor. keep dry, or paint
Very cool
Can i powder coat over the after blast
most likely not your going to want it as clean as possible

Not impressed by just looking at it
Can you take off paint from a house with cinder block walls with this?
Will it go through old body filler?
What specs are needed for the compressor?
I thought it was known that in order to sell a product, you show a demonstration along with introducing it......
Will this work for bottom boat paint removal?
Did you find out if it'll work?
So you need a $1400 pressure washer (@ 400psi 3.5gpm) to work this $100 product????
I would really like to see a compressor / pressure washer combination system. Most guys have a sub decent gas washer (2.5gpm) to push the water, and a decent 80gal/110psi air supply to push the media. Anything bigger, well you would have a pro shop, and a pro blaster.

My 3.5GPM, 4,000 PSI machine was only $800...

Im a diy guy and I couldn't care less common is a given i just wanna see a good product and straight to the point
@@RJCoAustralia exactly.
You need at least 3.5 psi. Get an actual guage at Amazon an oil filled.
Looks like it would take forever to do a whole car
Yea im thinking only for small parts, even the core support looks like it took forever. They used 50lbs of media.
Not very cost effective. Probably best at the hard to get at nooks, and cranny's.
A 50lb Bag just to do one piece!!!!!!!!!!!!! and what about all the Glass water????

7&9
Hose is no good look at all the kinks in it lol
at the very best this works FAIR, the thing won't pull sand steady and it is very hard to keep your sand dry
its called flash off,you are a salesman not a hands on
