I can’t believe I’m sitting here watching some guy wash his dirty rear end. 😂😂 That actually worked really well. Very cool. Don’t know that I’ll do that with mine… But it’s still an intriguing thought.
Pressure wash a section of that concrete, let it dry off, spread the sand out on the concrete to dry. Ive done this for my sandblasting setup from Harbour Freight with great success.
We have one of those sandblasters and we always had an issue with the sand feeding. We started using the Black Diamond media and it works great, Cost more but it feeds so much better. Looking good man!!! Team Dart!!!
We use to cook our wet sand . Had the end of propane tank cut and would build a fire under it. Black moly sand works good. Regular beach sand , river sand want work cause its round no edges to cut
I used one of those with baking soda (50 pound bag from Harbor Freight) to soda blast the calcium off my swimming pool waterline tile. Worked great, but I did have to keep going back to the bag to jiggle the pickup like you did. So yeah a tapered hopper would be better. Especially if you could rig some kind of vibrator/ agitator to it.
The instructions that I saw said to keep the sand suction port with the red hose facing up instead of down to prevent moot from getting into the red hose causing pulsing.
1. always thought you had to have the sand intake up not down.. down allows water to seep back into the sand bucket. 2. If you keep leaving your PW running while filling sand bucket etc you run the risk of burning up your PW pump. otherwise good vid
I had an old 40# pressurized sand blaster tank from Hardly Freight. I never hooked it up to a compressor, the sand just comes out the bottom. Worked great with my big pressure washer. Like you said, It Makes A Mess !!!! But it actually works really good. Good job Duddie 👍👍👍
If it's sucking up a lot of sand then nothing like it pulses, wonder if it can be adjusted like on sandblasting cabinets where you open a lever to let more air in which let's les sand in but a nice even flow
On the Driving 4 Answers channel, he had his engine block sand blasted, but even though he cleaned the block thoroughly afterwards, there was still microscopic bits of sand embedded in the metal. The embedded sand then destroyed the internals of his engine when running in. Not sure if this problem will be an issue with the diff gearing on this project?
Bro, awesome CLEAN upload I was able to watch this with my wife beside me without worrying about the F bomb flying out like they do every now and then, so this is worthy of a good thumbs up for sure 😊
Could it be that you mounted the metal feed pipe upside down? It looks like the purpose of the second section of pipe is to keep the inlet end from bottoming out in the bucket, which would starve the feed.
Great video and as you point out dry media is critical. Your results prove that even a cheap water blaster attachment works really well! Like many people watching your video I also purchased the same blaster off Amazon (Australia). Exactly the same device BUT...... it didn't work! The elephant in the room is the pressure water machine spec you need to create enough suction to get the media into the nozzle. Which means it may not work if your machine is electric (!) These machines do not seem to provide enough flow rate or pressure to suck in the media. t looks like everyone reporting success is using a gas driven pressure washer that is delivering around 3000 psi and 2.5 - 4 GPM. Electric washers like my professional Karcher 5/12C does not deliver the guts to suck in the media. I was using expensive 80 Grit Garnet that was dry and uniform. Looks like I may need to upgrade to a petrol pressure washer!
I am a big fan of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and always seem to have some going in the shop. I thought I heard you say you were going to spray the inside of your axle with it? In that case I would be very careful. Rusty Metal Primer cures with a soft finish as it is made to be overcoated and in my experience it can be cut with petroleum products months after it has fully cured. So I would be worried about it dissolving in the hot oil of a differential and I am not at all sure of how much damage the metals in suspension from the paint will do to bearings and gears?? On the outside it is great and even greater with a finish paint on top of it. Good stuff. If I were to paint the inside I would use an epoxy etching primer or something on that order that is impervious to hot oil. Probably best to just leave it bare and depend on the hot oil to soak the steel for protection. Interesting to see your use of the sand blaster. I have thought of getting one many times. If I did I would get a bag of sand blasting media (glass, walnut, whatever floats your boat) from my local hardware dealer as it is even quicker than just sand and should not clog. I agree a hopper would save much grief. Harbor Freight makes a small one that seems to work well when dry blasting.
Been running this axle for a year now in my Dart. It will be interesting to see how it looks inside when i change the oil. Appreciate it and Thanks For Watching !
🌮🌮🌮 and you suddenly appeared with a Pressure Washer. Hey, what are ya, Magic or Something¿🙃. Incidentally, my middle eastern friends always find oil in sand. They tell me that happens in Texas too. See if you've got Oil in that there Sand, Mr Duddie's.....
i have a similar kit. the syphon feed sand gizmo..is crapp !!.. i am going to actualy use a pressurized sand blast tank..n set the sand blast tank to like 35-40 psi..thus will work very much better ! (also i wil be using chjeapo kids play sand )
Next time use a 30 gallon drum and make sure you use a kitchen type fine mess screen basket! Sift your sand into that 30 gallon plastic drum and you won't have to reload so many times that 5 gallon bucket. Also you can put a lid on it and store it away in your shed or wherever. Playsand is the only sand to use if you don't want problems a make sure you shift it. I do yhis all the time and don't bust my balls with screw ups.
i'm not so sure about blasting the inside , some of that sand will embed in the metal and come lose over time when the oil hits it , when driving ! i would at least rinse in with a solvent like varsol or something like it !
Your cat is like "F it's hot!" Lol Great review, and I laughed out loud when you made it obvious you were going with that sand (before you said you were going to sieve it). I thought, "Oh man, he's gonna get so many pebbles clogging that damn thing!" I'm curious how that would work with other media. Anywho, thanks for showing that it can actually work, and decently at that. The mess is gonna happen with dry blasting, too, so that's not a huge concern for me.
hello Duddie Adventure, Sorry for your trial and tribulations of getting your project started re axle housing a year ago, but I think you did an excellent video which will help me here in Vancouver,BC to get my handrail repainted with great success. I admire you for your honesty and at first I also had problems getting the correct sand. Your video is a must watch for anybody wanting to do a project with the SELKIE sandblasting attachment. (funny, when I grew up in Hamburg, Germany my mother also called me "Duddy",) we could be related? 😃
Hahaha. Doing the inside of your diff with that would actually be NOT recommended. It will take forever to get it cleaned out. You are experiencing what wet blasting is about. I would recommend using 40/70 medium grit crushed glass next time.
Great job, I would possibly use rubber hose to cover the threads while sandblasting.
Bungee cord the bucket to the pressure washer and the engine vibrations will keep the sand flowing.
That is a great idea!!! Appreciate it and Thanks for watching!!
I'm a sandblaster by trade and this would definitely help with sand flow. Great tip.
I can’t believe I’m sitting here watching some guy wash his dirty rear end. 😂😂
That actually worked really well. Very cool. Don’t know that I’ll do that with mine… But it’s still an intriguing thought.
HAHAHA It's a great tool, But its really messy. Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!
Who says the internet isn't useful. I just learned something new. Pretty cool little set up
It's works surprisingly well and it's cheap! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!

@@DuddiesAdventure Strap bucket to the top of the pressure washer to keep the sand agitated
Duddie is gonna have a runner at the NNN✊🏁
Hopefully! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!
Now that's dedication to recycling and reusing!!
It worked great! Just made a mess! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!
We have one of those sandblasters and we always had an issue with the sand feeding. We started using the Black Diamond media and it works great, Cost more but it feeds so much better. Looking good man!!! Team Dart!!!
I will have to try that Black Diamond out, this thing works too god for the cost. Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching! Go Team DART!

Not too shabby.
It worked surprisingly well! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!
I made the same mistake with the sand , and had to dry , and sift the whole bag ! I went back and the play sand worked great
Appreciate it and Thanks For Watching!
Thanks for showing it. Excellent
Appreciate it and thanks for watching!
They do sell sand box sand used for children's sand box, it's clean and uniform in texture.

Strap the bucket to your pressure washer
@@patrickdolan. You mean to use the vibrations to jiggle the material down? Good idea.

Wonderhow coal slag would feed
Wonder how much minimum PSI the pressure washer has to be for the sand blaster to be effective
If it's sucking up a lot of sand then nothing like it pulses, wonder if it can be adjusted like on sandblasting cabinets where you open a lever to let more air in which let's les sand in but a nice even flow
Cool video. Cool music too! Who is the music that starts playing at 8:12? Tnx!!

Wow, that thing really kicked ass for $30 Duddie...Late night drunken Amazon purchases for the win :) Remy approved too
Not bad for $30! Made short work of that axle housing! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!
Can I ask how much sand you used to get the boat finished?
I believe it took me 2 sacks of sand to do the axle.
Looks like a new one! That sandblast tool is pretty cool.
It really was a good cheap tool! Appreciate it and thanks for Watching!
What pressure washer are you using.
Taj MaDodge Hall 😂
Great job drying the sand and performing a Duddie project perfectly!
Think it looks good!!!

What PSI is your power washer?
I think it was 4500
Want to know the sand I got was from box store and it’s a bit wet not bad but

You supposed to keep the sand hose on top, not hanging below because water can back up into the hose and wet the sand and clog up.
Appreciate it and Thanks For Watching !
Seems like you coulda saved a lot of money sweeping up that sand and returning it to Home Depot.
Good Call! Buy the sand from LOWES, use it, Then Return it to Home Depot! Perfect plan! Appreciate it and Thanks for Watching!

Good to know, Thank for watching
You're never going to get that sand out of that housing .
Gravity feed
Never use sand .... sand = salt .. salt and water = rust
Don't worry It's got lots of cheap paint on it! Appreciate it and thanks for watching!
