He is a very wise man. His speech made me realise that they are not as perfect as I always thought. It made me realise that they are human too. The speech also took me back to my childhood in boarding school. When I got bullied and told I'm not worthy to be loved and that I'm ugly. I think I still have a long way to go to be able to love myself

I saw a comment on twitter from a non-fan praising Namjoon & his speech & then they said they were impressed they could lip-read the entire thing-because they were deaf! I wish he could see comments like these from all the people this speech touched😭💜

My name is Gracy.. and yesterday I turned sixteen on September 25th. If there is the many life lessons I learned is not placing yourself where you can't shine completely. I always hid my talents that I had loved, and sometimes still do. I always loved singing, from the start at a young age. Still, I am afraid to just click the record button and out my voice out there. I want to help be a positive light for the black community, I feel so much has happened, so much, it makes me want to become more than a status quote about my own skin color. People judge me because I come from a low-incone neighborhood.. but that's what makes me today. And, BTS inspire me to gradually not be afraid and spread my wings to fly. Still, I get afraid and still I hide, but I can say I am starting to love this person who has this calling for her out in the world. Hopefully, I can make it, and I know I will..

I watched it live and it was so emotional, I was crying the whole time. I shared the speech with friends that are not Army and they loved it too! BT S for me are the group who did teach me to be myself and stop trying to fit in society...
This speech was so amazing not only for Joon’s personal reflections that made it so relatable, but for the fact that he added the line about gender identity- especially considering how taboo homosexuality is in South Korea. They have never shied away from the taboo subjects to help others. Like speaking about mental health in the past. They are not just a “boy band” they are intelligent, strong, moral, socially responsible, talented men who just happen to have the slight misfortune of being mind numbingly handsome, because I feel their attractiveness makes some people take them less seriously because they won’t go beyond the surface. Sorry for the essay, apparently I have feelings about this. Anyway, love you, as always. You are an amazing woman, and whatever you may have gone through to make you who you are, I am proud of you and you have come as a spectacular human.
I was... so proud to see RM and his BTS brothers standing up there at UNGA. They have come so far and have been through so much in their careers. I just wish them peace, love, and all the best and I know that the 7 of them will forever remain a good example of what it is to be a functioning human being in this world. Good, bad, happy, sad, scared, brave, bad hair days, perfect make up days... It is very difficult to TRULY be in love with one's... EVERYTHING. This is a dialog that everyone should be apart of and there should be no shame in... speaking yourself.

As I watched the news cover his speech and GMA and Jimmy Fallon ask him about it, I think the world is asking what does speak yourself mean? RM said find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself, he also said it was not letting others speak for you but speaking for yourself. It is an abstract concept and not something that can be summed up in a sentence or two. (RM loves to make us think, so many of his words and lyrics are like lovely presents wrapped in imagery and symbolism that takes thoughtful meditation to uncover the full and life changing wisdom that must engage with each of us uniquely.) I think it's so important for ARMY to analyze his words and use them as a jumping off point to examine our identity, our passion, what and who we care about and what we want to live for. They also since the beginning have urged us to speak up for our selves, protect ourselves and believe in ourselves. We must engage in the world, be represented in government so we have the protections and resources necessary to pursue are dream. I have spent years wrestling with questions of my identity, not just gender identity but what makes me me. Let's find it together, our voice, our passions, our calling and purpose, our identity

My name is Florence. Nice to meet you Rosan. I work a part time job while taking care of my elderly parents. Being busy, I didn’t care for myself but for others only. This has opened my eyes and really took the time to look at myself at a different viewpoint. I think it would be great to build the speakyourself request be fulfilled and fans RT the stories. I did several of them.
