Shield hero season 1 is still one of my favorite Isekai seasons. I love the relationship between Noafumi and Raphtalia

There are 4 legandary Hero’s. Shield hero doesn’t want to be a hero, and youll see why in episode 1. Enjoy when you get to it.
In the world of Shield Hero, Demihumans don't age conventionally. They mature both physically and mentally as they gain strength. The four heroes with their color-coded weapons were Japanese people, each from an alternate Japan, who were isekaied by ritual mages from the world the series takes place in, and for them their development, as well as the development of those allied with them is displayed in numerical form on a status screen they can call at any time, not unlike what you'd see in a video game. So Raphtalia (the raccoon girl) grows in a way that is contextualized to the Shield Hero like levelling up, and then basically becomes a young woman overnight (equal to having growths apply after a long rest if you want to equate it to tabletop RPG terms)
Ngl as cool as it is for them trying to justify a level up mechanic where demihumans basically age as they level up, honestly it just feels kind of lazy at the end of the day. It just feels like the writer wanted to have emotional scenes with a child as well as an adult, so they just decided to mash that into the same character. It just ended up being a very awkward system, in my eyes.
One thing to note is this is isekai. The Shield Hero, Spear Hero, Bow Hero and Sword Hero were summoned from Earth.
Season 1 is amazing. Season 2 has a very rough start,that's an understatement, but it picks up in the second half
Makes me sad though, about halfway through season 2 the dub voice of naofumi died

First 4 episodes of shield dad. GOD TIER BEST ANIME EVER. First half first season epic tier, second half budget starts running out but still great watch. Second season meh but mostly cause the arcs its covering are a bit slow. Need 3rd season for the epicness to return.
This series slipped under most people's radar, which is a shame cause it's fucking great. This is one of the broodiest main characters in all of anime, and he's totally justified. Idk if it was intentional, but him starting from so low makes his slow character developement much longer than most (which I can understand why this could iritate some people) but I''m so hear for it.
In this series demi humans grow as they level up
Shield Hero is a decent Isekai, with its strongest bit being it’s opening and the mc, although the creator definitely has some…interesting…ideas
“decent” is a good way to put it. It’s not the best thing ever that I’d watch a million times over, but it’s a good time
The ED songs singer Chiai Fujikawa is one of my favourite Japanese song singer.🙂

Fun fact: in anime, in fact, ALL anime converge on one single direction and that is to protect.
The concept of Shield Hero, bearing the truest concept of protecting something he lost after losing everything, is the reason why this anime is criminally underrated and one of the best. A shield is not strong by itself if there's nothing to protect. The author introduced Raphtalia which is undeniably, one of the best girls in anime genre, and gave Naofumi a reason to be strong, to gain back something called "trust", something so easily broken, yet remains the strongest link that he is willing to protect. This anime is dark, that's why the openings are so foreboding with dark colours but it also amplifies Naofumi's perspective of the world he was tasked to protect.
Yeah bro that’s a major stretch but whatever. If you could say that all anime is essentially about protecting something, then I could also say that all anime is essentially about attacking something. Anyways shield hero is far from one of the best bro 😭 even tho I like parts of it, you have to admit that it’s incredibly flawed.

The first 4 episodes are absolutely fantastic. I loved season 1 apparently something about season 2 bothered people. I haven't seen 2 yet.
Basically because of changes done in the anime in S1 and decisions for changes in S2 created a messy first part ... it got better in the later part ... since they were able to just adapt the novel/manga story without much scrambling ... that said me and a lot of people feel the animation was not up to snuff ...
The music and sound design is still pog through.

I love the S1 of This anime its a Masterpiece but the S2 is kinda weird i mean its not as good as S1
Honestly, mostly everyone knew that the first part of season 2 was gonna be bad thanks to the light novel and manga readers saying it is the weakest arc of the series
yeah I’ve watched S1 at least 4 times, but I could not finish S2, it was just not good imo which is unfortunate.

Season 1 was honestly fantastic.
Season 2 however......ehhhhhhhhhhh it fell off pretty hard.
They skipped 1/3rd of the content, the OST overall was a step down, the animation quality took a dive, the storyboarding was weaker, they replaced S1's director with another one tht only had exp with magical girl shows, etc.
I recommend only watching S1 tbh
This show fell off so hard, although in retrospect it wasn’t ever really super amazing either. I remember the first season fondly tho.
