Oh man! You're in for a ride, this show is so good, specially first season.
Myne was the center of one of the most controversial subjects of 2018-2019 following the first episodes launch. Even before its release, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari/Rising of the Shield Hero preemptively stirred up "drama online" when fans discovered that the series revolved around a man being falsely accused of rape. With critics labeling it as a show for “vicious regressive misogynists". In several places of Internet, the false rape accusation orchestrated by Myne in the first chapter (episode) managed to enrage those online who take offense at the mere thought that a woman could falsely accuse a man of rape, claiming women never lie about rape accusations. Anime News Network, for example, received a lot of negative comments after one of their critics ranted Myne's false accusation of rape was all about the author's "personal hardships".

Whats Funny is that Their Constant Attacks on the Show, and on people watching it, While desperately trying to get it canceled only made the Show That much more popular. Then, they turned around and did it to Goblin slayer with the exact same results. And now... HOGWARTS ! Every time the woke brigade attacks a IP, That IP becomes one of the most popular of its time:)

It's quite funny how most, if not all, the reacters I have seen all say the same thing about Myne with, "She's so nice," then seeing her intentions later.
I haven't watched the video but there I mightve had a feeling when she switched or during shopping, and then she was just way sketchy-scary during that dinner

I think the part where Naofumi nearly succumbs to his curse of Wrath/Rage, and was calmed by Raphtalia was meant to show the difference between Naofumi and the others, Motoyasu for example deeply trusts his companions (to be frank, he trusts them way too much, especially My... I mean Bitch), Ren sees his party members as nothing more than NPCs that will serve him in battle, and Itsuki... well he's just an asshole that does dumb stuff in the name of "Justice"
There are some Spoilers below
Naofumi doesn't trust his companions at first (hence the slave crest) and Naofumi finds out very quickly that the people of this world aren't NPCs, but despite this, unlike Itsuki; he isn't an asshole to his comrades and isn't obsessed with doing what's "Right"
That's because he NEEDS his companions, without Raphtalia; he can't kill monsters, and when he's at his lowest point; Raphtalia stands up for him... when Motoyasu falls to the Spirit Tortoise later in the story (along with the other 2), his comrades all ditch him for one reason or another, and he falls to the Curse of Lust... Ren losses his party "because they were weak" and after being manipulated and doubled-crossed by Bitch (who could have seen this coming) he falls to the Curse of Greed...
And Itsuki stubbornly believes Bitch (this seems to be a theme, Bitch manipulates Hero, they become Cursed... I sense a pattern) and falls to the Curse of Pride
and did anyone save them? Yes, Naofumi... or I guess some of his comrades did in his place, but they all suffered because of their Curses...
Naofumi's Curse of Wrath: It robbed him of the ability to feel positive emotions, until it was lifted later on in the story
Motoyasu's Curse of Lust: It made him completely dependent on those he loves (in this case, poor Filo who consoled him after Bitch broke him... ) as of Volume 22 of the LN, his Curse seems to be still active
Ren's Curse of Greed: It made any item he touched become worthless, and prevented him from earning EXP Points, this Curse has been partially lifted if I remember correctly
Itsuki's Curse of Pride: It took away his personality, he become a husk of his former self, through music though; he was able to partially recover from this
Naofumi would have killed everyone had Raphtalia not helped him... none of the other heroes would receive the same kindness from their comrades, they left the moment their "Hero" faltered and/or died... some help they were lol
Everyone is shook in the first episode. I've seen reactions from shocked silent to seething rage. This show does despicable characters extremely well.
I'm not a huge fan of the series as a whole but the first arc of Shield Hero is really spectacular.
Saw that thumbnail and I immediately felt my blood boil. Oof. This is gonna be a rough ride.
I somehow love the idea of using balloons as weapons xD
I love this anime so much, especially season 1. Season 2 isn't as good but still pretty good imo
A certain big animal arc ( no spoilers for AJ) drove me away from shield hero b/c it was boring and the arc was to long. I haven't read it since and debating if I should start after that arc.

@@bryancrose5414 In the Light Novel the Big Animal ark leads to an interesting developments ... and the Manga I thing just got to that part should look into it if it can catch your interest again

@@bryancrose5414 To be fair the Source Material with that Arc was not well revived in japan either. However the Author really turns it around after the Arc. It was really just to set up the events of the Multi world traveling elements and rules, and give the shield hero a reason to go. Im sure Season 3 will really be great considering some of the upcoming well deserved fates of the other characters. I just hope the Female Dogs Fate does not Cause an Apocalyptic end to the internet................................

blame season 2 for that.

I always found it suspicious that the sword bow and spear heroes were arrogant assholes thinking they could do whatever they want, but side against the shield hero

The reason no one plays shield class in their worlds games is the shield class is the suport/healer class so the shield hero is more oriented for suport
As they say toxic competitive gamers never want to be the suport they want to be the hero the main fighter the dos or the tank
This world seems to use a damage reduction for def instesd of damage resistence percentages so the baloons damage is too low to actualy hurt him them biting doesnt break his skin
Its a unbalanced system that normaly needs be keot to very low numbers if used in a game Especialy a mmo As it can make it impossible for low level players to even hurt high level players as if damage is lower than damage threshold then it will so no damage
what would have happened if naofumi had been someone neutral
One of my biggest complaints in anime is pacing, but the first season of Rising of the Shield Hero does a great job of always moving the plot forward.

One reason she might have joined the Shield Hero at first is because she could get better gear with him. He was given the most money, and he only had one other person to spend it on.
It was announced he was receiving a bigger payout after she joined him

Ooof this first episode is almost as hard to watch to Goblin Slayer's first episode. I wish there was a game that functioned like this though in terms of skill system.
each hero have to stay away from each other when building there levels. it like this for leveling with the, 1=100% 2=50% 3=1/3 4=0%. plus you find out as the show go who set thing the way is with the SHIELD Hero. but you mite have to bleep some more then normal later on.

Because Melromarc was never supposed to summon all 4 simultaneously, the king... sorry Trash and My... I mean Bitch were manipulated by the Three Heroes... I mean the Church of the Holy Assholes into summoning all 4... for one reason or another
The poor Queen had to bend over backwards to fix diplomatic ties with the other countries... no wonder she was pissed when she got back!

Oh you're in for an interesting time with the story and the world. And yes the grind is real when your only good stat is DEF, while ATK and thus base attack damage is basically below rock bottom.
