How is the traveler remounted ok the back like that? Wondering if I should make that modification aswell. Feels wrong for it to take up so much of the cockpit.

We like it because it gets it out of the way in the cockpit, it works great for cruising and day sailing, I think if you were doing a lot of racing, wanted to do more fine-tuning, The way it was originally would be better.
It sure is nice getting that out-of-the-way in the cockpit, thank you for watching
