      And the environment is why. The prisoners know they have it good and have actual opportunities and don't want to screw that up. But these American prisons where your treated like crap and have almost zero opportunities or privileges to lose, they just revert to animals. Especially guys with no outside contact. I've seen fellas that worked hard their whole bid because they had a decent life they hoped to return to. But some of them lost that and that bit of hope was all they had. Soon they are fighting and getting into with guards because we'll why not? All they can see in front of them is misery and nothing is out there waiting for him (job, kid, woman). Sure some guys will never rehabilitate or act right and some will forever be prone to violent outbursts and tendencies. But drug offenses, non violence, drunken behavior, etc. Not worth my tax money.
      And I bet their countries corrections budget is WAAAAAY lower than ours and that they get waaaay fewer coming back quickly like we do (most cause they left with no means of supporting themselves beyond criminal means and no support network except whoever was around when they were breaking the law; not good.

      @@moniho6907 They are, the hole system isn't designed to be a punishment, them taking control over your every action is the punishment. Prison in Germany (And also Austria and Switzerland, as they are almost exactly the same.) is designed for rehabilitation, if you don't rehabilitate, you simply stay there until your entire sentence is done.
      German Prisons expects that the inmates rejoin Society one day, hence they treat everyone as a normal human being. With respect. In America, you get treated in the most disgusting way legally possible, and basically everyone gets treated that way. There is almost no difference in the way they treat you, so if you drove to fast or killed someone doesn't really make a difference in the American system.
      And even worse, that system Cleary fails. Germany has a
      Relapse rate of just about 35%, while American Prisons have about 46%.
      even more, America has the highest Inmates per a hundred thousand residents with 655, Germany having just 69.
      Also, and i know that it might seem misleading in the Video, but the so called "Extras" like the TV or him being able to play games have to be earned.
      They can be taken away for disregarding the rules or breaking the law even further in any way. Basically, if you see an inmate having a TV or anything similar, he's worked for having and keeping it. Also it depends on what crime you committed or for how long you are in and how you behave towards the officers and other inmates.
      The hole point is, if you treat someone as worthless and shit, you can only expect such a behavior. If you treat them with respect and work for them to change, you might actually save the society from further damage and also you'll change a person for the better.
      If someone gets killed, or raped or anything, its done, you can't change that, it has happend, damage is done, it doesn't get better just from the person that done it living in a third world like prison. But if you actually manage to change that person to the better, you might safe others from experiencing the same, and even help the community should they actually find a job after they got released.

      @moniho6907 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tarezofficial981 you post annoyed me, first you keep saying "hole" its "whole", secondly let me reiterate, its called prison for a reason you if you do wrong your priviledges are gone, worst if its murder, you cant murder someone and expect ro be living to be put back on the street talkong about rehabilitation, you took a life meaning you shouldnt have one either or having prison luxury, even for rape or paedaphilia you should not only be sent to prison but you should be punished. The life in the german prison should be for maybe white collar crimes not for murders or rapist, the trauma they put the poor victims and their family through they shouldnt be having it easy end of story, i dont need to know about figures and how many people in prison america is bigger with a larger population and even your ratio wont cut it for me. You talking about them being treated like humans where was their human instinct when they were raping and torturing people?

    • @tarezofficial981
      @tarezofficial981 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@moniho6907 @Moni Ho Yes its Whole, its not as easy to learn a Second language, my fault. But we can talk in German if you think that you'll be able to write better in that then me in English.
      Then to your points. First of all, i respect your opinion of course, it just seemed to me that you completely ignored all of the points and reasons why the German system might be better. So i tried to make it clear and explain a little more about the reasons we use this system instead of others.
      The first point is, yes Prison is a punishment. The Punishment being: Not being able to do anything without permission and or supervision. The difference being, the Environment that this punishment is done. In one you can have your one room, that actually is owned and looked after by you, that you may have the allowance of decorating. And the other that just has 4 walls and a bed that you may share with others.
      If you murder someone in Germany and get sentenced in Germany for said crime, you go behind bars for atleast 15 years with the possibility of a life sentience. You may or may not be able to reenter society after that, for murder, that is done by a case to case basis and treated very seriously.
      I know many beliefe "Life sentience" in Germany means 25 years, but that is not true, it means "
      Indefinite imprisonment". Such a sentience can end only after a minimum of 15 years with the Potential of being endless.
      Second point, rehabilitation is very serious here, as we don't view any crime offender as a lost case. We view everyone as someone who has done bad, but may not be a bad person in general. if it turns out that person is actually just evil, they don't get "Luxury Prison" or any of that bullshit. They may loss their Work, their Extras such as TV, Tabaco, Access to Hot Water and Knifes in the Kitchen an so on, the list of things you can loss is endless. Also Group activist (Like sport events) or other things like that.
      You don't get those things for free either, you have to work them, and if you misbehave in any way they may get taken away from you, sometimes even without the chance of ever regaining them.
      Third point, the population in America is bigger, yes, yet America has the most inmates world wide. (even higher then China and India that both have nearly 1,4 Billion people)
      also my numbers where about 100.000 People living there, not just the number of total inmates.
      and fifth and last point:
      Yes they may have misbehaved, yet we beliefe in a second chance in everyone, even for the worst things. That might not be cool with you, but the numbers Cleary show that it works, yet it is not the best.
      Be believe that treatment directly Corresponds with how a person acts. You treat someone like a criminal, they will also act like one, in and out of prison. It is our prisons duty to change that behavior at its core.
      You might not understand how such a system can work, and you view it as inappropriate to treat a criminal as a human, but it works for us and also the rest of central europe :)
      These are just the differences, you might understand the reasons behind them or you don't.

But they will always have people defending their rights. Which is pathetic. I care about the lives these monsters took away. But the abusers? Children with mentally handicapped in Germany are not allowed to attend education in Germanys School. Most of them do not receive Schoolbooks in schools. Not to mention that it is the only country whereby for profit corporation run prisons. So the tendency is to lock up as many people as possible, for as long as possible. From Australia,
    all countries can be judged by how they treat there inmates, as a young homeless person I eventually went to prison and I of course seen the violence and became a victim, I tried to stay away from that .what it gave me was what I was searching for on the streets and that was stable accommodation ,I couldn’t work out why I was given so much in prison that I couldn’t get as a young homeless person on the streets and i still find it hard to swallow that as a criminal I was looked after better in prison . One friend in prison made a remark saying who says crime doesn’t pay. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how I could help young homeless people so they get help before ending up in prison, I am currently doing really well in the community having had the same job for over 10 years, I go by the same rules as a prisoner in regards to drugs and alcohol where they are both illegal and I took that to the community and I choose stable friends. Even though I am doing well in the community life can get really stressful mainly from running into the wrong person who is really nasty ,I have struggled with these people my whole life I really feel angry by these people but they are the ones that can turn my life upside down. I try to physically remove myself from these people before my anger takes over . That is the only way I can keep doing well and live a normal life in the community

Children with mentally handicapped in Germany are not allowed to attend education in Germanys School. Most of them do not receive Schoolbooks in schools. In disabled workshops, most handicapped people receive between 1.65 and 3 Euros an hour. Prisoners do not have to pay tax on their earned money while in custody; Handicapped people have to do this!

    I worked in a state prison in the U.S. for 24 years. When I started, I thought that we should’ve returned to the 19th century way of running a prison. There are inmates who probably should be in that system but 98% need help. My home state went from ‘ lock them in a cage for years ‘ to ‘rehabilitation instead of retribution’ during my 24 years. The results are mixed. Maryland has the the second lowest recidivism rate (around 40%} but Baltimore is once again the most dangerous city in the country. The rest of this state is really safe so take the statistics the way you want.

      Ar all these people killers? No!
      The loss of freedom is the punishement. They still have their basic human rights not like in the US where u dont have Human Rights even outside Prison.

      @Omoniyi Oluwashogo Sure its easier to say, but If you treat them Like Shit They probably will kill someone else, and If you want them in prison for whole Life They are Just a waste of money
