- Showing how the huge EPBM S574 "Martina" works.
Excavation diameter: 15.62 m (equivalent to a five-storey building)
Overall length: 130 m
Excavation area: 192 m2
Thrust: 39,485 T
Total weight: 4500 T
Total installed power: 18 MW
Annual energy consumption: approx. 62,000,000 kWh

Just imagine the level of human ingenuity it took to come up with the design for this machine. Unreal.
You should see the engineering behind JR-Maglev L0-Series then.
@@nuduw Can this machine turn or only go in a straight line? I'm confused because the map shows a tunnel that is non linear.

What a evolution!!!! Hats off them who evolute it. 👍👍👍👍
These machines are so amazing! It's basically like rocket science, but underground. I read about a Swedish tunnel project (Hallandsås Tunnel) which was plagued with delays, budget overruns and environmental disaster. Once the project switch to TBM, it all become "just" a matter of paying the invoice.
Thanks for the 3D animation. It was great!
thanks for the 3D ANIMATION
Thanks for the animation and explanation.
Very informative. Thanks for posting.
In my town one metro project is progressing and I used to see the ring making yard also , I was so curious to know the works being carried out under my feet. Thank you so much ..for clear cut idea..
Good stuff!
Wow. Truly marvelous!
Very good material, I like such films very much, besides, he himself documents the construction carried out by TBM in Poland in the city of Lodz.
Hello, can i use this video on my vlog? Ill just give u credit
This is an engineering masterpiece! Incredible that things like these are possible!
Please made for slurry TBM
how is it powered?
I bet they show videos like these to the personnel that are learning to operate the drill
Can use TBM S574 vertical
*what the hell for?*
What about water? And as the machine advances forward how does the ground shifting effect the tunnel?
Different models of TBM may sometimes have different features incorporated depending on the conditions it will be working with. I.E. undersea ones like those used in the Big Dig had special waterproof outter shields. Then the ones that work in more unstable or softer ground often have reinforced hulls or internal supports to minimize the risk of cave-ins.
@@terminalvelocityrunner2202 how are the turns made? I'm confused because the map shows a non linear tunnel.
thanks for the very nice anime video.
E um modo de coração muito importante para desenvolvimento de ferrovia e rodovias
Twin of 6.5m diameter Her. TBM is working in our project.
Isa karin ba sa nanonood neto dahil sa tbm sa ph .... like
Why not put all transport infrastructures under ground, that could put an end ro the Co2 bit
really for future of our child this is very nice step to go ahead and create new amazing metro railway line hope this will complete before expected time provided by our goverment
Montu
Hope it wasn't made in Italy. Everything they make breaks alot.
How does a TBM propel itself forwards?
4:46 You can see the head of the TBM being pushed away from the concrete "tunnel" construction. They use electricial driven pistons for it. Also 9:18
sjorsbeans Ooh, thanks! Completely missed that detail.
In China, we distinguish shield machine from TBM.
Uma Mega Máquina.👍
una tuneladora puede doblar ? hay peliculas que los túneles doblan .
Claro soy tunelero y la tuneladora tiene articulación para girar ala izquierda o derecha
❤❤❤❤❤
do they use GPS ?
No, they use láser guides
the material the cost and the labor to drill this tunnel would be 5 million US dollar
Super bro
Great machine
I need tunnel job
This is what’s needed and Ukraine
Waw waw
USA, got a Nuclear laser boring machine. That's 400 foot long. Builds a tunnel as it goes.
I highly doubt that. They would have used that in Seattle instead of Bertha. Secondly, shifting ground, floods, cave-ins, and other risk factors would make nuclear powered digging machines into literal death traps. If one was to explode or malfunction in a variety of ways, it would explode like an atomic bomb. Then there’s the fact that, oh, I don’t know, it would make national news as the first of its kind as most, if not all TBMs before it used onboard generators so as not to polite the tunnel’s air supply. So that’s some pretty big talk coming from someone who doesn’t even have a profile pic after three years.
Edit: Oh, I’m sorry, no profile pic, not a single upload, and two subscribers that are likely people who you asked to do so IRL after at the very least three years.
funny to hear herrenknecht pronounced as herring-connect

YO LA CONOZCO COMO ESCUDO. (EN EL TUNEL EMISOR ORIENTE EN ECATEPEC EDOMEX (PARA DRENAJE DE CDMX A HIDALGO) HECHO POR ICA Y GRUPO CARSO), PERO PAGAN UNA MISERIA (LA VERDAD SON UNOS EXPLOTADORES, 1400 PESOS A LA SEMANA (YA NO VALORAN ESA HABILIDAD (PEDI TRABAJO COMO SOLDAROR (WELDER)).
CONOZCO ESA TECNOLOGIA (PERO PÚEDE SER PELIGROSA, NO SE, PARA PASAR DROGA O TAL VEZ ARMAS, COMO EL TUNEL QUE HIZO EL CHAPO GUZMAN PARA ESCAPARSE DE LA CARCEL).
ES TREMENDA ESTA TECNOLOGIA (DEBE DE SER CONTROLADA POR EL GOBIENTO DE NUESTRO PAIS MEXICO)
ME DA MIEDO, TALVEZ PUEDE SER USADA POR TERRORISTAS (YA QUE SE ESCONDEN EN AGUJEROS)
