    Thank you for this video. Simplicity is a great thing. Very enjoyable to tie and probably going to be very effective as well. Love the fact you could fill a box with this fly and have an arsenal of colors on hand for every weather condition. Thank you Matt.

    There's lots of simple flies out there and most of the catch fish. I can see this fly in an off white imitating a grub which I think is an overlooked source of food for fish. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.

    I like simple patterns and I’ve tied for almost 40 years. What I like most about this pattern is there is an endless amount of colors and sizes this can be tied into. If the fish like it so do I. Hope the new year is treating you well. Thanks

    Great versatile pattern and material. I was tying an Atherton nymph and the only blue material I had for the wingcase was marabou. It looked pretty cool. That Easy Bou in grey would make a great fry pattern as well as a smorgasbord of fish food. Thanks Matt.

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh man, I love the Athertons! One of my first videos I think was the Atherton #2. Funny how he was a pretty unimaginative fly namer though. Didn't he just name a handful of patterns after himself, with the numbers 1-4 after them? I guess it's possible he didn't name them anything, but his friends named them after him. Okay Joe- bedtime here. Hope you're having a great weekend!

    Good morning Matt. Congrats on reaching 20k subscribers. Enjoyed the video. It got me thinking about the flies I caught fish on this past season. For the most part none of them were extremely difficult to tie but certainly worked. One of the pike flies I used was tied similar to the one you just tied using a 4/0 hook, marabou, wire and some chenille with contrasting colors. It was home cooked recipe. Unfortunately I never took a photo or kept notes and I lost it to a pike. I plan to tie some pike hooks while l’m down here and maybe I can test them on the river to see if Stripers like them. Have a great rest of your week. Take care Matt.

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh man, striper fishing! Now that is some saltwater fishing (or maybe it's semi-saltwater?) that they do here in Maryland. I'm always seeing the fishing reports but it looks like all the striper guys are in boats. Are there areas where we can striper fish in the shallows? I don't know much about it but I should probably figure it out. I do have that monster 9-wt I bought last year for all those snakeheads I haven't caught yet. And oh, thanks for the note on 20k. The channel is going to be four years old in March, and still slowly plugging along.
      Gotta run for now. Just got to the farm today for the three-day weekend. I'm not even going to try to get any time on the water in. The rivers are totally blown out, plus it's going to be in the 20s tomorrow. A good day to stay in.. Have a great weekend John!
