This was a special thing between my daughter and me when she was barely out of diapers. She would stand on my feet and I would dance around the room. It remains a special 'thing' for the two of us even now when she is a proud grandma herself. Judith's heavenly voice brings tears to my eyes, then and now, and will until the day I die.

Sadly, Judith Durham passed away from COPD on August 5, 2022, in Melbourne. Her wonderful performance of this song was the first time I ever heard of The Seekers. Thank you for those wonderful memories Judith!

Without a doubt Judith Durham has the finest female voice that Australia has ever produced! In all the years of their performing, it has never lost the ability to make you sit back and simply appreciate that magical sound!

This makes me a little tearful hearing this again now. Grew up poor and when I was about 8 years old in the 1970's, my mother gave me an old record player she had for years as a birthday present, and this was the single that I got from her to play on it as a second present that year. It was the first thing I actually owned, and I played it to death. I loved it dearly.

Like you I was born in the early 60s . Yes the Seekers were always played when I was young and these songs were magical. Dad had all their 45s and loved them. So very sad that we have just lost this lovely talented lady. My dad would be so upset if he were still here. What happy times she gave us in our childhood and since , and that voice in her 70s? Tremendous. God bless her.

Every time I listen to The Seekers, and this song especially, it transports me back to my childhood when it was a much more happy time where sincerity and love and friendship ruled. The Seekers make me know that you can still live those moments by simply just absorbing their melodic perfect blends and enjoying Judith's perfect pitch, even at this later stage of her life. There is no group ever that can boast all their members still playing together for 50 plus years. Long live The Seekers.

I know this is quite al ong time ago now, but take a minute to appreciate just how unique and special Judith is. An astoundingly beautiful woman physically, but with not an ounce of narcissism about her. THAT voice, incredible, not another like it. But even more, she is always happy, has a smile that lights up the world, an inner joy that is so infectious, it radiates from her, through her voice. How much courage has she got, to leave the group at its height, resisting the filthy lucre, to be true to herself, to have such a strong marriage, to go through Ron's illness, to make the decision not to have kids so as not to pass the gene on, despite wanting kids, that is a woman of TRUE courage!
Just an amazing person, she brings such joy to all. THANK YOU JUDITH, for all the joy, and for lifes inspiration. You have my deepest gratitude and love!

Similar experience here. First time I heard it was as a young child, when I heard the Irish Rovers' version in the early 1970s. It was a few years later that I heard the original Seekers recording (my dad had one) and found out they had made it famous long before the Irish Rovers recorded it. Still love hearing the Seekers' original version of it - no one can sing it like Judith did!

I am a lifetime David Bowie fan and was devastated at hearing of his death. On the opposite end of my musical fandom spectrum are The Seekers, my favourite group from the 60s. Hearing about Judith's recent death was equally upsetting.
There is something so beautiful and innocent about the group's song back catalogue, proving that you didn't need to be controversial to be globally successful. Listening to them now sends me back to a far simpler time. Such is the power of music.
My grandfather used to play The Carnival Is Over endlessly to us when we visited as kids. That and this song remain deeply personal and meaningful as perfect encapsulations of a happy childhood.

Fabulous video. This song brings back so many memories, l wish l could turn the clock back. These gentlefolk still going 50 years on, stunning. Also considering what Judith has gone through, she still has that voice that is instantly recognised.
Thank you for posting this video.
    You're a star. ⭐🇬🇧
