I saw Tom Paxton (the writer of the song) when he used to play at the folk clubs in Greenwich Village in the 60s .I grew up outside of New York City .this is the best version. I actually do a cover of this version although I'm not as good as Bruce Woodley-- far from it.The Seekers my favorite folk group of the 60s. thanks for putting up the video

Eugene, when Tom Paxton played in Oklahoma City in March 2020 he told me that The Seekers cover of this song is his very favorite, as I mentioned in a previous comment about a year ago. Would love to hear your cover of the song!

I lived in Gove Northern Territory in 1970-71 and an Aussie guitar picker and I picked and played this song many times. We picked this very similarly to how the Seekers play it here. A classic memory of Australia for me.

@@larryvermeer6170 Larry, no--I took a contract in Africa and we moved there, and several contracts later, 4 years in fact, I could not take another ex-pat job and we moved back to the US and we have been here since 77. I went back in the Army then and I went to Airborne school at age 40, then I served with the 11SFGP for 6-1/2 years. I would have liked to have visited OZ again but it was not to be.

Bruce Woodley has a wonderful mellow voice - after of course Judith's wonderful voice it was often Bruce's voice on the original recordings .Athol and Keith were very much harmony singers in the background. .The overall sound is unsurpassed!

Down memory lane once again thanks to you. This was an easy song for everyone to sing along in the “coffee houses” and would always sound amazing. Does anyone remember coffee houses? Pretty popular in western Canada at the time!

Rich, I was so happy to see that you have highlighted this superb performance of my second favorite recording of The Seekers (taking second place behind The Carnival is Over.) In March of 2020, in the very last stage performance prior to the closing of venues due to CoVid in Oklahoma City, Tom Paxton delighted a capacity audience with many of his old and some of his newer songs. After the concert, I was able to meet and talk to him for a while. He told me then that The Seekers recording of this song is his VERY favorite cover! He went on to say that The Fureys recorded his favorite version of Everytime. Those are two of my personal favorites of Tom Paxtons!

@@larryvermeer6170 look him up on You Tube and spend sometime going through his music. Depending on your age, you may be surprised at how many of his songs you know, as many have been covered by other individuals and groups. He is a sensitive and insightful writer and is still making appearances around the US. I saw him again this summer (2022) at the Woody Guthrie Festival in Okema, Oklahoma. He performed “The Last Thing…” again there. So I was a happy camper! Brilliant, and a very nice guy as well.

@@larryvermeer6170 You said you had never heard of Tom Paxton. I merely suggested that you look him up on YT and listen to some of his recordings so you could get to know him a bit. This song is one of his, so if you like it, you will probably like others written by him. Wikipedia has a great deal of interesting information about him including a long list of others who have recorded his songs. If you started listening to music in the 60s (especially folk music), you may recognize some of the titles he wrote. It's worth a few minutes to learn about Paxton. He received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 and is still going strong today.

Call me crazy, but I personally prefer Bruce’s voice to Judith’s. Yes, while Judith has a beautiful ringing Soprano, I’ve always loved how Bruce’s mellow Baritone just sounds calming.
First time I've seen Judith just standing still. I was wondering if she wasn't well. And a pity the lighting put her in the background. Still a great performance, though.
Bruce was the lead on this one and the lighting reflected that.
Athol to the far right probably had the least recognition here. Each to their own, for some songs.
