I feel like if Niantic wants to be rid of Pokémon GO, just sell the damn thing. They don't have to turn it into trash. Think about it - if Niantic forces people to stop playing Pokémon GO and switch to Peridot, what reason do we have to invest in Peridot? I would definitely play both games, but if they are trying to burn Pokémon GO to the ground, they will likely ruin their name and could very well ruin their business. I wouldn't want to play another game they created because they purposely sabotaged another amazing game that I really truly enjoyed.

As someone with debilitating chronic health issues, remote raid passes were a godsend. Even though the pandemic is over, I don’t always have the energy to go out and play this game, and I currently live in a pretty rural area. The removal of remote raid passes and the introduction of elite raids are choices that really hurt. It’s essentially like being told, “you’re sick, so you don’t deserve to have the same experience as others.”

Interestingly, I know a good amount of people with disabilities who play the game. I wish there was some better way to serve the community that also fits with Niantic’s ideals. One thing I dont see people talking about & might be the biggest issue with this insane remote cap/double price is that when Niantic released level 50s , remote raids is the ONLY way you can get enough raids to obtain enough Candy XL. Even if we did every in person raid all day every day you cant get enough.. its sad to see Niantic destroying another game

    • @ItzJhon

The logic probably goes like this, if you had enough money for remote raids, you also have it for in person raids as the passes are cheaper, also, you only need less than half of the in-person raids to max out a pokemon, so you only need to spend at most less than half of what you would spend doing it remotely (without even talking about the remote raid price increase). Because all things considered in-person raids now give about 8 XL candy per raid on average.

      @mysticricorok8481 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@thefirehawk1495 That would make sense but we arnt getting 8 XLs for in person. But the XLs are only part of the problem. How many in person raids you think you can do in a day? Driving all over your city, if you are fortunate enough to live in a larger city, finding these raids that are few & far between while hoping someone is at each one to help you. Then do that every single day, 10 hrs a day just to find enough raids? No it doesnt make sense at all. Id assume most every single player above 16 yrs old has a job, or a family, or something else more important then POGO that cant drive around 10 hrs every single day not to mention gas prioces through the roof. the reality is this change hurt hardcore players & not free to play players but on the same note if the change never happened it doesnt hurt anyone.. its stupid on Niantics part & is why they have already lost 400,000 players & that number is growing.. The Raid system from the very beginning has always been a joke. Doesn’t matter if it was a remote raid or a in person raid they where always glitched. The only difference is these remote raid passes helped players who didn’t live in the city or are disabled and can’t move around as much. Personally for me I have had terrible experiences with in person raids and the remote raids so I stopped buying passes from the store along time ago. Everyone is angry about the remote raids being limited and the prices jacked up I’m more angry at the fact they never fixed raiding to begin with. Niantic is never going to get my money when it comes to raid passes. And not to mention they shot themselves in the foot because they basically also limited how many raids a person can do with remote raid passes so their logic makes no sense.

I don't play anymore but yeah, raids are a joke. I remember that there was a mechanic for EX raids to trigger, there were a few requirements that a gym needed to pass so that the EX raid took place later, like it needed to be in proper location and enough people fought a boss in that gym. But still, not everyone who took part in the fight that triggered the EX raid, got an EX pass later, like wtf. Only those who received the invite could participate in the EX raid to have a chance to catch Mewtwo.
And then there was the timing. Niantic, do you seriously think that people will drop everything they're doing in the middle of a working day to go to play your game? Not to mention the weather conditions?

    • @Forged4War206
      @Forged4War206 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I love how dodging in raids was completely bugged for like several years before they finally fixed it only to break it again with the random phantom hits not long after. Soloing and duoing raids were practically a necessity for me once most of my community stopped playing, but I couldn't even do that consistently because I'd just get screwed over by constant glitches and disconnects. Obviously they have no reason to ever fix it because hardly anyone actually dodges and those who do are most likely doing it in smaller groups, which is not the way Niantic intended. Not even gonna mention the countless times they've buffed the bosses and nerfed the drop rates of items to screw people over even more and force them to raid more for the same outcome. I really wish I stopped playing sooner tbh. The whole game is a massively unpolished mess despite being owned by a multi billion dollar company, and I feel guilty for contributing even just a few bucks to them.

Many of my friends who play pokemon go rely on remote raid bc some of us live in areas with poor internet coverage, limited to no pokestops/gyms nearby, and health related concerns that makes travelling difficult. Personally I think this is an L take. Yes, disabled people exist as do socially awkward people. However, its impossible to market certain games to everyone. You could argue beatsaber is ableist for not providing an alternate mode for people with restricted movement, or DDR is ableist for those in a wheelchair. It’s outrageous that an game revolving around being outside is ‘ableist’ because you have to go outside.
Furthermore, I think the idea that its insensitive to socially anxious players to be just as pointless. Any team based game is insensitive by that mark, so it’s kinda BS.
I dislike the remote raid pass change, but I think trying to push it under ableism and insensitivity on any basis besides trying to profit off location data to be unreasonable.

But there are two fundamental issues that Niantic are ignoring
    1. Players who only play from home and who are casual, they won’t decide to go outside, they’ll just decide to delete GO
    2. Weather condition could make it dangerous for people to go outside to play GO, punishing players who are choosing to stay safe

      3. Safety concerts. In many many places around the world it's simply not safe to walk outside with your phone in hand. Chances are you'll end up robbed.
      4. For anyone living in rural areas they can go outside all they want and there'd be still nothing for them to do in the game because Pokemon GO's entire game model favors highly populated urban areas.
5 (and this is the big one). The huge majority of people who are interested in playing any type of digital games simply don't want to have to go outside and walk to play. The reality is: when people play videogames, they generally simply want to sit down in a comfortable place and play there for hours. That is in direct contradiction with the PoGo game model. It's just doomed to fail. The ONLY thing that keeps PoGo alive is the fact that it's Pokemon. People accept to go along this game concept because it's Pokemon. If they lose the Pokemon IP, it's just simply a bad game design destined to fail.

I live in Rhode island, and while we do have cities, they're not exactly what you call Metropolis places like Massachusetts or New York where you have a ton of people out and about doing relatively the same things. It was very rare to actually find multiple people in the same spots to do a Raid Battle. There was only one time that I was part of a group at a local post office but that was by pure chance. If I didn't need to actually mail a letter that day, I would have been handling it myself. There are forums you can gather and organize group raids online but even so, it wasn't easy. It took a long time for my state to get pokestops or even the proper gyms. And unfortunately, many of the places that were designated for stops and gyms were part of private property and you were not allowed. So many different raids had gone that we never even received unless I had decided specifically to drive to Massachusetts or one of our other sister States, which I wasn't going to do. I'm not into a lot of social gaming anyway, I'm a solo player by heart and thankfully most of the game can be done by yourself but to try to get these specific Pokemon when you had no other way of doing so, took away something apart from the experience. It was much better when they introduced the remote raid system during the lockdowns because this did mean for people like me who live here, you actually could join in battles that you had no ability to do before. People work, people have school, so setting these things up around times when they were not the most appropriate for people to gather unless it was during holidays or breaks was an issue too. At least for me, that was a core issue of why I didn't really do a lot of raid battles in general. Even the smaller level Pokemon that I could handle, it just depended if I had the time to do it. I don't know, I haven't really played the game in several months but I'm not exactly rushing to get back into it. The only real reason I would pop into it now is to transfer some Pokemon to the let's go games because I'm missing a few but as of right now, I don't really see myself getting back into it for a bit.

@John Smith Niantic doesn't own the rights to Pokémon, in order for this game to continue service they must have a licensing agreement with the Pokémon Company. From what I heard without fact-checking, the licensing agreement is (Loosely anyway) around 7-8 years, which Pokémon Go is approaching fairly soon.
The theory is that since they know that since they're #1: Only known for Pokémon Go, #2: They're reliant on The Pokémon Company (TPC) in order to continue making money from the project, and #3: They're not getting enough of the main thing they want from their players (Location data), that they're focusing on putting their effort into Peridot (Their unique IP) and Monster Hunter (A similarly large IP to Pokémon at least in Japan) to attempt to move the POGO playerbase over to a game where they will continue to make a profit out of. Take this with a grain of salt however, as #1: This is entirely speculation and #2: I'm not even remotely knowledgeable in how businesses run and function, so I myself can't comment on the accuracy of these details.

Just from my family they're losing 6-7k a year. From what I've seen a majority of players quit. They'd rather the company go under than let people play.

    Not... really....
I don't think Peridot is going to be a Poekmon GO clone. Seems they have a different attitude and playstyle for it. Pokemon is a collectathon, while Peridot is a raiseathon, if that makes sense.
I think the real issue the remote raid thing occurred was to sidestep how they made money. They KNOW people were using them, and would continue to use them, especially in areas where data to them is worth nothing (aka rural). In areas where invites were being given, like cities, the data collected was enough, and it JUST so happens the prices on in-person tickets didn't go down... hmmm..... mayhaps to still earn more money?
If they weren't in it for profits as they claimed, then in-person raid tickets should have gone to near nothing... yet we know that isn't true.
Also, don't forget Niantic's first starting point... Ingress. That game was entirely free.... until it wasn't. Pokemon Go was a bit the same way for awhile... mostly, anyway.

As someone living out in small town Montana, I feel this and it hurts. Our group went from constant invites and bustling activity around each and every legendary, to one or two asks a week for help on a boss, while the only real raiding any of us do is on Wednesday night, and usually only the free raids given our small numbers. Montana is really spaced out between most of its towns and cities and our entire Pokemon GO server comprises 4 different towns with a 30 minute drive one-way between Points A and D.
This update has not incentivized any of those players on the fringes to come and make that 30 minute drive at any one point to fight a Tapu, a Lugia, or any of the last 10 or so raid bosses. We're only ever out for raid days, community days, and maybe, MAYBE Elite Raids if the boss is easy enough for us to take it out in a group of 8. The game is dying out here, and Niantic couldn't care less, because we're rural. And that's always been the one community spit on more than any other. People who don't live in a town with hundreds of Pokestops/gyms in sight every time they boot up the game. We don't matter to them, no matter how loud we speak, and it's pretty much put a death date on this game for me as more and more features are restricted.
If the choice becomes "Move to Place where game is more in-person friendly" or "Don't play at all." I'm going to not play at all, it's just what happens when you rely on these asinine ultimatums for the sake of a flimsy vision that they try to make us think they believe in. They don't care about creating communities, they care about you hitting up POIs that give them data they can sell or use to advertise to you. If they can't get it, they will tighten their grip on the features until it's a borderline chokehold on you, until you either give up, or do as they tell you to.
For one of the most customizable games out there, from a series that prided itself on 'playing your way', Niantic has really made leaps and bounds on "Play my way or not at all" and it makes me depressed, since I've invested a ton in this game since the pandemic days. Yet, here I am now, not going outside enough for Niantic, not making enough communities for Niantic, not doing enough of their own busy work when they can't even bother to make sure the game isn't broken with every new update they push out.
I wish they'd listen to us, but it's clear that they only care about a small fraction of players. Even though no communities are ever going to pop up in places where they never were, they'll continue to hide behind the same excuses. To say nothing of that 'The reviews are in for playing outside' bullcrap they posted a week ago. This company hates you, remember that. You are not a player, you are not part of a community, you're a number they like to wave in front of advertisers to get more money for their half-baked AR tech.

Most people would rather just form a remote group than organize an in person group. I get the convenience, but it does take away from the community aspect in one way or another. I agree with the daily limit of 5 remote raids a day, but we should get cheaper premium in person passes & more free daily passes in return. Seem kinda crazy to raise the price of the remote pass but not lower the price of the premium.

What really made me mad about this change was that many people, including myself, lived in rural areas with either no access to gyms or very bad spawns. You got no new Pokémon unless a rare event mon just so happened to spawn at your house, so playing the game was incredibly tedious. What saved me from quitting was when my friend told me about a remote raiding discord server, and ever since then I had a blast playing the game and made plenty of friends along the way. The fact that niantic stripped that experience from a quarter of the players with the weekly remote raid pass removal angers me so much.

could have used that money to hire more developers but nah.
Instead they hire more devs to work on future projects with more influence on AR.
It's clear as day Niantic's main focus is developing AR stuff
and Pokémon GO in their eyes was one of their biggest mistakes ever.
They are treating the game and it's community as you'd expect.
It's an abusive relationship because let's be honest, many of us don't even use the AR mode.
They know this and thus absolutely despise the Pokémon go community.
Everyday they ignore us, lie to us, and fail to get things right. A multi billion dollar company.
    It breaks my heart...
Pokémon Go meant so much to me and many of us, who grew up with the franchise.
But it's clear as day the charm is gone. (it even got nerfed in pvp lmao)
In terms of raiding, It's dead to me now.
But I'm still going to stick around for the community days and the occasional event.
But I will not be surprised at this point this game will shutdown by the end of next year the way it's going.
They wont care of course. We will be struggling to transfer all our shinies to Pokémon home unless we pay (home transporter energy) and they have a new original IP in the works.
It's such a brutal and harsh reality, But that's how I am seeing it.
Amazing video though it def needs more views! 🥺🥺🙏🙏
let the word spread, hopefully they will indeed hear us someday...and...get it right...I hope...
What I wish for is for another company to take over the Pokémon go license if Niantic truly doesn't care anymore which seems to be the case at the moment.
could be an in-house team at gamefreak or nintendo, I don't know, or some other mobile company (sadly might mean more ad's and microtransations)
but hopefully whatever happens to this game it does continue to indeed live on for years to come...

I will never understand the point of campfire. It doesn't change anything. The places that people would go to on campfire are the same places that people would raid at anyway and the places that no one goes to are still going to be dead. It changes nothing.
Its also interesting you bring the AR stuff up because this is a common theme with Pokemon. Niantic became the "Pokemon Go" company similar to how GameFreak is the "Pokemon company". Its sorta the price you pay when you make any sort of pokemon content. It seems like niantic wants to have their cake and eat it too. Like I said at the end of the video, Its not the gameplay that people love about pokemon go, its the pokemon and unfortunately for niantic, thats who they are now whether they like it or not. Feels like everyone that works on pokemon, doesn't want to work on pokemon.
I could talk for literal years about all my thoughts on the franchise but that's for another video.

Dont forget, Niantic isnt even listening to our feedback for Peridot as is and actually using that to imrpove it. Been beta testing it for a while now, and Niantic seems set on making the game pay to play, with the core mechanic which is breeding for new unique looking dots being behind a 5$ paywall per dot bred currently, while also taking away every feature we liked and replacing it with 2 minutes of gameplay every few hours.
Im really curious as to how they expect to get Geodata from Peridot, when they arent even incentivising people to outside with these complete god awful changes. Weekly walking rewards give nothing of value, theres 2 minutes of gameplay every few hours, u now have to ask for consent when wanting to breed a dot with someone elses dot, wild dots no longer exist, so theres no variety and we are reliant on new players to get new traits and hoping they dont drop the game before their dot even reaches adult stage, if a player has incongnito mode on their dot cannot be bred with by anyone in the world nor does it show in habitats, and thats honestly not even all, theres also the issue with if someone doesnt log in after the newest update, their dot is treated as if it doesnt exist in habitats, so the variety goes down even more due to this. Theres tons more wrong with this game than just that, and btw, this game launches on May 9th.

Definitely the dumbest change they ever made. I wouldn't even be mad if they just fixed their horrible gym system, which caps your daily coins at 50 but you have to wait until your pokemon gets knocked off... ...only for them to all get knocked off at the same day and turning the effort and time of 350 coins into 50 coins.

There ARE signs that Niantic wants out of GO. Or the relationship between them and TPC is not going great.
As a friend of mine had cautioned, Niantic is actively trying to discourage players by either not listening to them or not trying hard enough to maintain quality of their app. Moreover, they have been on rampant in making more GO clones, which my friend's friend (who's a business/marketing expert) considers as colatteral, in the case of TPC not renewing their partnership. So, my friend has been telling me to prepare for the inevitable, which is GO shutting down or being handed to a different company.
I think Nintendo System (the joint company with DeNA, which develops Pokémon Masters) may be a potential candidate.

I feel like a lot of people don't know how Niantic started, or what their actual product is. Niantic created a game called Ingress. It was an ARG, faction based pvp game that used real life "landmarks" in order to generate portals that players would need to physically go to, attack, control, and gain items from. While it came with a subset of basic portals, the players themselves could "submit" landmarks that could be turned into portals. Fire departments, churches, museums, historical buildings, city monuments, etc. That is Niantic's product. That is what Niantic offers. They ditched Ingress after they created that product and moved into pokemon go. All of their games, from the very start, have been clones of their original game, Ingress. Their product quite literally is location data, not just "where people are" like it is for every company, but literally where "points of interest" and "landmarks" are. They can't get any of that if people are staying in doors. Their data will become obsolete, outdated, and incomplete. I don't think they care about anyone's location, they care about people keeping their maps up to date because that is their product.

First of all if the battle system was turn based with a timer that ended your turn. 30 sec or 60 sec timer. Next is the ability to trade more easily. I understand the need to control trading somewhat. But maybe a level unlock or a trade currency or trade tickets or something along those lines would have worked.

The whole reason many people joined Pokemon Go was because it let us access pokemon that were currently stuck on outdated consoles, and Go lets you send stuff to Home, allowing you to collect the full national pokedex and potentially trade the pokemon into the main games. That was the idea. (Regardless of actual implementation in the main games -_- )
Lots of people also just so happened to "get into Pokemon" thanks to Go, so that's nice.
But yes, the people who are playing because it is POKEMON, they aren't going to suddenly swap to a game that has nothing to do with anything else, let alone spend that same amount of money on it.

It is very bold to assume that pokemon go is at its end. There will still be a core player base that will keep the game going, even if 1% of all players currently existing leave the game. I explicitly say 1% because that's how many are leaving the game due to the inability to play regularly anymore. The main reason some people are leaving in the first place is due to the fact that, while yes, the initial raid pass update was for Covid related purposes, it ended up giving the ability for people with physical disabilities, such as literally not having legs, the ability to regularly play the game. Niantic sees this as an unitended consequence as the game was never designed for disabled people in mind in the first place. Their main goal was to get people up and moving and the remote raid passes actively don't do that, which is why they are pushing for going out more. Is it right? No, but the game's not gonna end over 1% of the gamer population leaving.

Pokemon fits the AR game model almost perfectly, and they came so short on so many features. Like the leveling up system for example, its usually better to throw away a decent mon instead of training it. So the attachment to your party isnt there in even a fraction of what it is for main line games.
